United Mission to Nepal has played a major role in my personal history, from when my dad was born in a UMN hospital in Kathmandu to when we left Nepal as a family in 2012. Thus it was wonderful to be able to read a history of mission work in Nepal (although one that is admittedly a little outdated, having been published in 1979). Although situations have changed, I still deeply admire Lindell's understanding of the role of missions, and I am honored to have grown up in a community he and other pioneers helped to start.
All your aspirations to discover the Nepalese history of Christianity and stories of the prices they (missionaries) have paid to better the economic development of Nepal can be found here. Truly, it is a matter of shame that many people mock Christianity where in fact Christians should be applauded reasoning for their work in history in Nepal. Had these young Christian missionaries not showed in our poor Nepal, Nepal wouldn’t be in leaps and bounds for economic and infrastructural development that we see it today! Thanks to UMN for publishing this book way back!
