A survivor. A gambler. A leader. Only the strongest will survive.
The world is changing. Raven has a brother to protect, an old friend at her side and a chance at a new life. But since the rest of the world is happy to see her and her friends burn, seeing the enemy among her own ranks may prove impossible until it's too late.
Riley has earned her freedom. With money in her pocket and her fellow fighters at her side, luck finally seems to be with them. But every true gambler knows that luck only lasts so long.
Karissa has been chosen to rule, and she is destined to lead the way for Team Nine wherever their path takes them. But with a new obsession bubbling beneath the surface, Karissa must fight to figure out what her true purpose is.

Another great book. Each of our characters is up against each other, and they all have their job to do but in the end, it all amounts to the same they have to kill to eat and at times, they also have to watch their back from the very people who they least expect.
The Last Girls on Earth- Gluttony is book two of this series and the events continue directly from where it finished off.
I read the first book when it came out last October and didn’t re-read it before diving back into this one but I still knew what was going on.
It probably would be best to read them back to back to be fully immersed back into the story, that said I still loved it just as much as the first!
Some parts reminded me of Hayley’s Apocalypse series so if you haven’t read that then check it out.
I love that each character has a different background whilst also all striving to survive in the same messed up landscape which is the current state the world has been left in.
I can’t choose favourites because I like all the girls but my favourite boy is Logan and adore his need to protect Raven and of course not everyone can be trusted!
The Last Girls on Earth by Hayley Anderton, a five book series dystopian tale set in a future Britain plagued by overpopulation, poverty, and political unrest. The story centres on three protagonists: Raven, a thief; Riley a cage fighter; and Karissa a soldier. Their journeys are distinct yet interconnected, offering unique perspectives on survival in a fractured world.
The author’s writing is sharp and immersive, creating a vivid and unsettling vision of a reality not too far removed from a possibility if I’m being honest. The narrative’s fast pace keeps the tension high, making it difficult to put the book down.
The characters are compelling, with diverse backgrounds and struggles that add depth and relatability to their stories. The interplay between individual struggles and the larger societal issues enriches the narrative, making it both entertaining and thought-provoking.
Overall, The Last Girls on Earth is a gripping thought-provoking read. Highly recommended if you love fast-paced, character-driven dystopian stories that offer a mix of action, emotion, and social commentary.
Another enjoyable and quick-paced story by Hayley Anderton! I really enjoyed the next stage of Karissa, Riley, and Raven's journey. The dystopian world this author creates is vivid and easy to imagine. This time, I enjoyed Riley's storyline the most. I'm excited to see what book three has in store for these characters.
A great follow up to the first book. While I enjoyed the first book more, this book brings in more plots and detail to the dystopian world. Hayley does a fantastic job bringing it to life! It's rough, it's brutal yet feels as if it could happen. Excited about this series and learning more about the characters.
ah, I love this!! I’m always up for a short easy read, especially as a uni student and this hit all the spots💅🏻
I thought book one felt a little rushed and underwhelming in parts but I didn’t have that issue here- I was obsessed with the storyline of the characters and I’m so intrigued to see where it heads in the next books. I’m seriously on edge trying to predict what might happen next and where this will all go.
If you want a dystopian book that’s scarily similar to reality, with LGBTQ characters and 3 female main characters who are all different but bad ass in their own ways- read this!
An exciting sequel in the thrilling TLGOE, this does not disappoint! Gluttony picks up directly where the first book left off, with Riley and Raven fighting for survival, and Karissa training her team to destroy the Inferiors. As fast-paced as the first, in Gluttony, Anderton explores the unraveling of a once-stable society into chaos. And who doesn’t love a trip to the casino?
But what deal has Riley got herself into? What will Roger’s regime mean for Raven and her friends? And what is the terrifying new Y drug?
I hope the next book in the series answers these questions!
Gluttony is the second book in The Last Girls on Earth series and just as good if not better than the first book Sloth. It is told from different points of view. I truly love the world that was created for Gluttony as well as all of its characters.
The Last Girls on Earth follows the lives of three girls and their friends. One is a thief, one is a cage fighter, and the other is a soldier. They are all fighting to stay alive. They are all fighting for their next meal. They have no idea from one day to the next if they are going to get to eat the next.
Their world is a dark and gloomy world filled with twists that keep their story going and kept me racing to the end as I just had to know what was going to happen next and where their world was going to lead them. It kept me on my toes wondering how they were going to survive in a world so desolate.
But each one kept on fighting day after day to do their best to take care of all their friends to try and make sure there was going to be food on the table the next day. Their journeys are not so easy but they meet each one with everything they have. They are some very strong characters just trying to live one day at a time in a dark and gloomy world.
Grab your copy of The Last Girls on Earth: Gluttony today! I highly recommend Gluttony to all dystopian fans!
This book is book two of a current four book series, ‘The Last Girls on Earth’. It continues the stories of three different girls who are finding their own ways of surviving a world burdened by overpopulation and the various issues that come with it.
I loved getting to know the characters in book one and I felt this book really helped you to get to know them better. Every woman has their own motives, their own problems they have to face, and it’s nice to see how different each protagonist is from the other. Although the characters are different, the theme of family and togetherness is apparent in each person’s story and highlights the important of being part of a team when living in a difficult world. Each woman deals with the difficulties of the new world in different ways (gambling, stealing, fighting etc), and each woman is a powerful force to be reckoned with which makes them incredibly likeable characters who you can’t help but root for.
Captain Strauss I find to be a very intriguing character and I hope we find out more about her as the series progresses. The first two books ended with a focus on her which suggests she will end up being very important in the series. I hope she’s going to end up being an antagonist as we are already seeing her selfish traits coming through.
Overall, this was a great continuation of the series which leaves you keen to keep going!
Fully enjoyed the second book in this series. It was action packed and thrilling. Once again, we meet three different girls and although I had my favourite, I really enjoyed learning about each one.
Karissa and her world is pretty frightening and very futuristic and robotic. I particularly enjoyed her difficult relationship with her brother. This was an interesting dynamic.
Riley in the casino was intense! I felt so much fury for her when it all kicked off, I'm also very afraid of what's next for her in this story!
Raven is my favourite, possibly because her thought processes are most relatable. Her shopping trip was damn intense! I like Logan but I can tell he is going to learn the hard way with his innocence about this world. The council meetings were interesting, especially the discussion of punishment. This reminded a bit of the difficult discussions and opinions in The Stand (Stephen King book) regarding building society again and trying to create a better world rather than history repeating.
I highly recommend this series. They're each quite short and you can deffo devour them whole! The world and characters pull you and keep you there. Can't wait for the next.
I really enjoyed this one, it was great being able to keep reading about these girls and seeing how their life has changed from the first book.
Karissa was amazing, of course. It was so great to see how tried to fill her role and play the part she's been chosen to play.
Raven was great too, taking charge and trying to make sure people were taken care of. It was great to see all the people around her and how they react to things and the kinds of people they really are.
Riley's life has changed the most and it was so interesting to see how she's dealing with it and the way she's taking care of things. Her thoughts and development were so great to read.
If you want a dystopian book, I can really recommend this series!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 I am LOVING this series! And although this book wasn't quite as good as book one (only by .5 stars), I was still so immersed. I'm so glad we only have to wait til October for book three!
The dystopian world created by Hayley is so fantastically horrific and I don't know how she thought of it! There was slightly less action in this one and definitely more character building but I'm not mad about it.
Karissa's story still reminds me of Divergent and I definitely feel more attached to both Karissa and Riley than Raven but I really enjoy all three stories and reading how different their perspectives are.
The 2nd book of the series picks up shortly after book 1. I felt the tension and horrors of this dystopian world as we caught up with each of our main girls. Captivating writing yet again that left me looking forward to the next installment. I read this as part of the indie visible tour.
The thief is now a survivor, the cage fighter a gambler and the soldier a leader. These three girls have come so far but their story is far from over.
Overpopulated Britain has been destroyed and amongst the ruin and radical politics three girls do all they can to survive and only the strongest of them will.
This is my favourite dystopian series hands down. I love the plot, the characters and quite simply everything about this series is just awesome. My only gripe as before is that I just can’t get enough of these books. Each novella at around 100 pages is not enough, I want to binge the lot in one go. Alas I have to wait until October for the next instalment. If you haven’t read this series then please do, I couldn’t recommend it more.
Last Girls On Earth -Sloth - book 2 ***SPOILERS*** I don't give everything here, but if you're looking forward to reading this, scroll on by.
The 2nd instalment of this dystopian tale did not disappoint; clean and tight prose had me immersed in the story & the individual worlds immediately. The 3 FMCs have moved on but their problems remain the same. Raven fled to the streets thinking it would be easier to hide and protect her brother. She comes across a group hiding out in a closed school, and meets someone from her past. The group seem organised and functional but it's not long before a 'Lord of the Flies' theme emerges. "I want to believe I can remain good at heart, but in the past week, I’ve eaten a total of four meals. Not enough to sustain me properly for a day, let alone seven. My waist has always been slim, but now I can almost cup my hands around my entire middle. I’m wasting away." Riley is starting to feel the burn as every attempt at making things better for her friends turns to shit, in a world that has already failed them repeatedly. After killing one of her own in the last battle in the arena, she convinces them to move on to a casino she knows of. She can win enough cash to get her hands on the x drug. Her ego gets the better of her and she loses everything again. Just as she gives up hope there may be a chance to try again...making a deal with the devil is her forté. "I grit my teeth. She’s right. Whatever she wants me to do, I’m going to do it. I’m taken back to years ago when I first looked Lion in the eye and accepted her offer to become a fighter in the Pits."
Karissa is diligent and obedient so feels she deserves her promotion to leader of her section. Her bitter twin brother doesn't agree and tries to make life he'll for her. It backfires. Meanwhile her sergeant pats her on the back and warns her things are about to get very real soon. Afterall, this what these soldiers were born to do. "They fight for scraps of the people we have become. They evolved differently from us and became a plague to our lands." @hayley_a_writes #lgoe #dystopianbooks #indievisiblereview #indieseries #indiebookstore
Is it now a case of out of the frying pan and into the fire?
Another edge of your seat page turner. Our three main characters moving on to something new in their lives but will it be good or bad?
Ravens family is dwindling but her goal is to survive and take care of her brother. She's compassionate and wants to help everyone she has thoughts, hopes and dreams of working with the other refugees to make the best of their situation. However, Roger whom she is highly suspicious of appears to be somehow buying off the loyalty of the others. Even Logan her old friend doesn't seem to understand what they are getting into.
Pit fighter Riley won her freedom but it came as a huge price. She's moved from fighter to gambler but they is not necessarily a good thing either. She may be on a high with a winning streak but gamblers are sure to take a tumble sooner or later. Where will she and her friends go If that should happen, will her friends still stick around?
Finally Karissa child soldier part of the experimental X-Drug trials. She has been chosen as leader of Team Nine but the team are not happy especially her brother. How can she prove she is the best fit for the group, war is coming and she will soon be called to fight for her country and rid the world of the 'Inferiors'.
These books are gripping I cannot stop reading, always wanting to know what will happen to our strong characters moving forward.
I'm off to download book three. If you have not yet done so I would highly recommend picking up Book one in this YA Dystopian collection.
Tᴴᴱ Lᴬsᵀ Gᴵᖇᴸs ᴼᴺ Eᴬᖇᵀᴴ: Gᴸᵁᵀᵀᴼᴺʸ is book two in the YA Dystopian series, The Last Girls on Earth by @hayley_a_writes!
A sᵁᖇᴠᴵᴠᴼᖇ. A ᴳᴬᴹᴮᴸᴱᖇ. A ᴸᴱᴬᴰᴱᖇ. Oᴺᴸʸ ᵀᴴᴱ sᵀᖇᴼᴺᴳᴱsᵀ ᵂᴵᴸᴸ sᵁᖇᴠᴵᴠᴱ.
Gluttony picks up right where Sloth ended, Riley's last Pit fight; Karissa becoming Team Captain, and Raven finding refuge at the old school, trying to survive with the government experiments ravaging the towns.
The girls still do not know one another exists, and I really like it this way. Following the lives of different social classes without the influence of one or more has been interesting.
The length of the story does not impact the detail the author has put into it. She does a fantastic job of giving you just enough information to keep coming back for more.
The characters are ones you hate to love and love to hate at the same time. Each girl has characteristics molded by their status, or lack of, growing up. I'm anticipating the release of Greed!
Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read this awesome book.

This second book to The Last Girls On Earth series was just as equally action packed and fun as the first. It was a fast paced thrill ride with an exciting dystopian setting and simple descriptions that allow for the reader to understand the world the author has created.
I loved the direction the story took, continuing right where book 1 left off, like before there are 3 different POVs that follow 3 different girls in the city, my favourite was Raven again due to her compassion and loyalty.
Another thing I liked about this book was the character interactions, I was hoping for the main characters to meet in this sequel, but they didn't, so maybe they will in the third book. I loved seeing the characters interact with their friends and love interests, and all their developments since the first book, especially seeing how each character grew into leaders and stronger girls despite the world around them.
The ending leaves on a cliffhanger and I'm very curious about this new character called Adelaide and the incorporation of the Y drug. Overall this was another great novella that I'd definitely reccomend!
Raven is eager to prove herself amongst her group but faces a new threat who seems to have everyone on her council under their thumb...
Riley's undertakes an opportunistic career change from pit fighter to gambler, choosing to wager the money saved for her own X-drug for the chance of winning big and securing it for all of her friends. Though starting off surprisingly well, things unravel quickly after a new arrival isn't what they seem...
Karissa struggles with the newfound responsibility of leading her dysfunctional and increasingly uncooperative squad (non more so than Elliott), with their lack of respect leading directly to a disastrous failure during a combat simulation. Heeding the advice of her captain, Karissa is forced to become more ruthless and crafty, choosing Elliott as her unlikely second in command in order to keep her enemies close.
An excellent sequel, which continues to develop all three protagonists priorities an personalities wonderfully, as well as their respective supporting casts! A must read!!
Another quick, fun, high stakes read from Hayley Anderton!
I enjoyed this little book a lot. It’s easy to read all in one sitting, and despite how short it is, I’m getting a better idea of who the girls are and what they bring to the table. We also got some more context for how the world in this book came to be that way, and it is all very eerie and sinister. I will say that I wish the girls had crossed paths by now (assuming at some point they will? I hope so!) while these books have a certain draw for being short, I also keep finding myself wanting them to be longer and more fleshed out.
Regardless, I am interested to pick up book three once it is out! This is a great little toe-dip back into dystopian fiction, and Anderton is a talented writer. Thank you so much to the author for sending me an eArc of this title!
Having read the first book a while back it was time to jump back into this one for book 2.
If the first book was Star Wars(A New Hope), then this one is definitely The Empire Strikes back. Don’t get me wrong, the first novella isn’t exactly an uplifting read - We don’t want that for dystopian reads - but this one really delves closer into the current hardships and shows us a lot of the mental anguish that the trio of characters is dealing with.
As with the first novella, I am all in on Riley and Raven’s arcs, but I’m still on the fence with Karissa….Though I think she’s going to have a big boost when she hits the general populace. The writing is great throughout though and the flow between each story as well as the transition from each girls POV is well placed.
Another great installment of the Last Girls on Earth series. Gluttony is a great follow up to the first book, Sloth, and picks up right where it left off. The plot thickens for the three FMC, as their hardships worsen as they try to navigate through their dystopian world and the changes put forth by their government. This book definitely keeps you on the edge as you hope the girls find a way out of their predicaments, though you know they won’t.
I’m really enjoying this YA dystopian series. It’s scary to see the world Anderton has created because it seems like it could really happen in our society.
I highly recommend this series to all dystopian fans.
These books may be short but they are definitely page turners! I was able to read all three in a day and a half an now I'm eagerly awaiting book four!!
The story was set in a dystopian Britain, which, sadly be a little bit too realistic. Overpopulation, a huge division between rich and poor and a desperation to do anything to survive.
Each of the three girls are distinctly unique from the others. Their circumstances vary through no fault of their own. And throughout the three books you could see their character development as the plot reaches new levels of desperation.
This is a series I'm deeply invested in now, and I can't wait to see what happens next!!
3.5 rounded up. I wish each book was longer. These books tell the stories of 3 girls, each trying to survive in a dystopian future. 1 is a soldier who has been trained to kill Inferiors. She is ready to go out and fight them on the streets and kill them for a "better" world. 2 is an orphan with a forbidden little brother. They are living in an abandoned school trying to become self sufficient and separate from the state. She will do anything to protect her little brother. 3 is an orphan from the streets who fought to the death in the pits and seems to have a gambling problem.
Having survived the first few weeks after the announcement of the Government’s “solution”, the protagonists struggle to forge futures for themselves and those they care about.
I found myself drawn straight back into this horrifying vision of our future, and my heart broke for these children, forced to become adults far too young. The characters felt so real; their fear, rage and determination is so visceral. A quick read, but one that will linger in my headspace. I can’t wait to read the conclusion of their story.
Definitely 4.5! I love that this picks up right where you leave off in book one. Three awesome and kick butt FMCs that fight to stay alive for each other. Riley, Raven, and Karissa are very unique and keep you pulled into the story. I could not even try to guess what would happen next it was so good!
I received this ARC for free and am leaving this voluntarily. All thoughts/opinions above and my own!
What the heck just happened?!?! I cannot stress enough how on edge I am to see what these girls have coming to them in the next book! Hayley!!! Wow just wow! I think Raven's way of thinking is correct. I am feeling so awful/hopeful for Riley. Karissa is a bad woman and I cannot wait to see if she figures it all out, I am hoping that somehow they all get to come together at some point! This story is far from over and I cannot wait for book 3.
I am getting so invested in these characters and the plot that its ridiculous and I cannot wait to read the next book. It's so interesting to see the 3 different POV from totally different girls and situations and the progress they've made in book 2 is really exciting. It seems like the next book will he the tipping point for all of them.
It's very well written and very accurate to what I imagine a post apocalyptic world would be like. It's also a really quick and exciting read.
Another great book that follows on from book one, following Riley, Raven and Karissa, 3 very different girls from 3 very different worlds, all trying ro make their way in a world that is litterslly falling apart at the seams.
I feel a kinship to each of the girls in some way making each of their struggles relatable and this somehow gives the book a feeling of what could be.
One of the things I loved most about this book was how all three characters—strong and fiercely independent—were fighting not just for their own survival, but for the lives of their loved ones.
Logan's sweetness is a breath of fresh air amidst the chaos, while Karissa's indoctrination left me shaking my head in disbelief. I couldn't stand the captain or Roger —total jerks. But what I'm really looking forward to is seeing all the girls finally meet each other. That's going to be one epic moment.
Despite its brevity, this book packs a punch, touching on important themes like racism and prejudice. It's a testament to the author's skill that even in a short span, there's still so much depth to the story.
