For a Westerner, the most important lesson from this book is that Arabic visual communication is super complicated and it takes years of study, and a lot of sensitivity, just to begin understanding basic things.
There are a lot of great calligraphy and brand transformation examples to feast eyes. On the other side, this edition precedes the boom of digital media, I'll surely look for an update.
I expected a little more, but that's probably not possible in one book. Still, a good one to read and return to.

Fascinating to learn about the rules of Arabic calligraphy/typography and amusing to see examples of misuses & faux pas when Western corps incorporate Arabic in advertising campaigns for the Middle East. (Coca-Cola, Nike, etc).
