Kira's quiet life in the islands is interrupted when she's called back to Virginia to attend her cousin Nikki's funeral. Reluctantly, Kira plans a short, incognito trip to do just that. However, her plans are derailed when news of her arrival spreads. Now there's a bounty on her head, and several snakes are ready to cash in. Behind enemy lines in her own hometown, Kira is faced with yet another battle to stay alive as she finds out once again, that she's living on borrowed time. Will she be able to cheat death again, or will death snatch her from behind in part five of the Wifey series?
Kiki Swinson was born and raised in Portsmouth, Virginia. She discovered her flair for writing after completing her first novel, Mad Shambles, while serving a five-year sentence at a federal prison. After being released in December 1996, Kiki later went on to self-publish Mad Shambles. Her passion for writing didn't stop there. Writing feverishly into the wee hours of the night, she completed her second novel, Wifey, which was published by Melodrama Publishing. After the success of Wifey, Kiki penned the sequels I'm Still Wifey and Life After Wifey, as well as The Candy Shop and A Sticky Situation.
In the fifth installment of the Wifey Series I noticed that KiKi Swinson's writing style has changed. I wouldn't say it is necessarily for better or worse, but it is noticeably different and it took me a few chapters to get used to. This novel started a tad bit slow, it didn't bore me but it definitely could have flowed at a faster pace. This twisted tale of angry family, bitter betrayal, kidnapping, lies, and murder was fairly predictable in the beginning, but was rather interesting as the novel progressed. Against her better judgment, Kira flys back to Virgina to attend her cousin Nikki's funeral. They hated each other in the previous installment, "Still Wifey Material" so I don't understand why she chooses to compromise her safety and the seemingly happy life that she has finally obtained, to pay her last respects. Before long Kira is kidnapped and being tortured for information that she refuses to give up. I am utterly shocked that Kira gets caught slipping so many times this go round. She is way too experienced to have become a victim yet again. She should have followed her first mind and not gone back to Houston or Virgina but since she did, she also should have been more aware of her surroundings and more secretive about her whereabouts. She was extremely too trusting of people after all she has been through. You would think she learned something from her previous ordeals and the backstabbing she's been through but apparently she needed to be taught yet another valuable lesson and I hope this time it sticks. Over all, I truly like her character but the numerous times she has escaped death and then turned around and gotten herself into trouble again is way past ridiculous. Kira seriously has more lives than the luckiest feline and it just isn't realistic. In this story she repeatedly goes against her better judgement, yet she should know by now that not even her family can be trusted. As I've said in my reviews on the entire wifey series, Kira just isn't as street smart as she should be which is truly a travesty since she has grown up in the hood, and has lived and witnessed the street life for so long. I'm also disappointed in Kira's revenge seeking adventure. Mostly because she couldn't get revenge on the assailant that deserved it most and I don't like how she became wishy washy about exacting revenge on the person who organized her kidnapping to begin with.
Lastly, the title didn't match what the novel was truly about. I would have loved to read more than just three small chapters about her new life and man in Anguilla, instead of the majority of story solely being about kidnapping and killing. The author left us with unanswered questions as always which leads me to believe that there is more than likely a part six in the works. If that is true then I hope the next book focuses on Kira going back to Anguilla and resuming her new life. Meeting new friends, exploring her new relationship with Donavon and how her coming clean about her trip effects the balance of everything. It would be awesome as well if the people from Kira's past stayed exactly where they are. Of course there are still plenty of enemies in the States that want Kira's head on a platter but I hope in the next follow up that Kira is never again put in a life or death situation, it's too repetitive and played out at this point.
I would have to say that I am extremely disappointed with this book...Out of the entire series this is my least favorite..It wasn't terrible...But it wasn't great...I lost interest in the book for a minute but once I start reading a book I have to finish it...I just expected Kira to be a little more wiser but I guess after all she's been through...She still hasn't learned...smh
I just cannot believe Uncle Lanier really wanted her blood that bad. I'm off to read book 6 and hopefully this is the last of this series. Kira keeps coming out on top but for some reason I believe it's gonna all end in book 6.
Well I read all of the Wifey books and I couldn't wait to see what else Kiki had in store for Kira.
So it starts off a bit slow catching catching us readers up on what all happen in the last book.
Kira yet again. Well Kira living in Auguilla she has a new man name Donovan that has money but, he also don't know about her pass life back in VA and in TX.
Kira ends up going back to TX to sell her house but, then ends up running into her uncle that wants her to come to Nikki's funeral back in VA. Kira decides to go to pay her respect and then ends up running into people from her pass.
Her pass gets the best of her when she ends up kidnapped and tortured. She escapes but, then she goes to get her revenge on those that caused her harm.
Book overall was just ok. I don't think there needs to be anymore wifey series Kiki is a really good writter but, I think she should just let Kira go now. :) Totally enjoyed the Wife Series. :)

Kiki Swinson hasn't disappointed me yet. Kira always manages to find herself in some kind of mayhem and I have to respect her because she is always the last bitch standing. She's been kidnapped twiced, sodomized, beaten, you name it and she always manage to land on her feet. This chick has more lives then a cat. I have to say, why did I think for a minute that I was going to get a smoothe, Kira and new boyfriend walking along the sandy beaches of Anguilla?
The twist and turns in this novel had me reading non stop. I had to finish it. Who would have thought that she would have gotten kidnapped by her uncle of all people, who would have thought her uncle was hustling on the street. LOL I must say it was a very enjoyable novel. Can't wait to see what the next chapter holds.
Onto the next book!

I enjoyed this book. It had a good flow with lots of twist and turns. Readers might say that Keira received "her due" but I don't agree. Things and people are not what they seem and revenge is the overall tone of this book. Will all turn out well for Keira? Will she in finally end up with love and happiness after all Ricky and Nikki put her through? You'll have to read the 4th installment to find out. I do recommend this read. Even If it is just for closure of the series.
As Kira attends her cousins Nikki funeral, she realizes that not everyone is glad to see her, esp her family members. Kira tries to erase the snitch label off her name while also trying to save her life. When an old friend offers her assistance, Kira ultimately turns on him after finding out an old family secret. In the end, she triumphs and resumes her title as wifey.
♥ Great Book ♥ Definitely A Page Turner ♥ I Wish There Were More Details About Her New Life in Anguilla ♥ I Hated The Way It Ended ♥ There Is Really No Details At The Ending On Her Leaving VA Which Sucks ♥ Could Have Added Like 50 More Pages or Something To This Abrupt Ending ♥
