Palmer: Editorial Cartoons from the Montgomery Advertiser

Rate this book
" Editorial Cartoons from The Montgomery Advertiser" contains a selection of editorial cartoons drawn by Jim Palmer for the Montgomery Advertiser from 1978 to 1992. Palmer's cartoons skewer a myriad of Alabama political figures, including Governors George Wallace and Guy Hunt, Senators Jeremiah Denton and Howell Heflin and legislative leaders such as Hank Sanders, Congressman Bill Dickinson, and AEA President Mike Hubbert. The cartoons also take issue with perennial problems in Alabama politics, such as corruption, wastefulness, and lack of funding for worthwhile things (such as education). Palmer's cartoons are an interesting look at Alabama during the 1980s and early 1990s and are still relevant due to the fact Alabama political leaders basically are the same in the 21st Century.
