Theresa Jordan and Pastor George Landris were scheduled to be married. But Landris was consumed by an old friend he'd known for years who lived a few hours away from him. Right before he and Theresa are scheduled to be married, his friend Johnnie Mae Taylor and her family are in an accident. George goes to find out about her and old feelings resurface. Theresa knows something is not right but let's it go for now. Johnnie Mae's husband passes away and Pastor Landris once again races off to be by her side. Theresa knows the man she is about to marry is in love with Johnnie Mae. There is also the issue that Theresa has with her birth mother, who, as it turns out is not the mother who raised her. The wedding never takes place, Theresa becomes pregnant but not by her fiancée and before all is said and done, Theresa will have to come to grips with the truth. Inside her own heart and Pastor George Landris will have to admit some truths of his own. There is of course lots more going on between the pages but I can't tell you everything now can I? You'll have to read the book for yourself to find out what happens with Johnnie Mae and Pastor Landris and who fathered Theresa Jordan's baby. Don't forget to read the sequel: Wings of Grace. Vanessa Davis Griggs is one of my favorite Christian authors. I have read almost everything that she has written. This book was a good read. The only reason I didn't rate it five was because at times the story dragged a little more than seemed to be necessary. Having read the series, it was good to have some history on Pastor Landris and his wife. As usual, the scripture references really add to the story and help the reader identify with the characters.

Promises Beyond Jordan was a great book. It's a story of faith, family and forgiveness. Vanessa Davis Griggs writes novels that will make you feel good in the end. The character Theresa Jordan made me want to slap her a couple of times. But, finally at the end, she got it together. I love the fact that her characters weren't one dimensional. They were real characters with real flaws. I highly recommend this book.

I read this book in 24 hours it was such a read. It grabbed you from the very first line. The Promises of God is a sermon by itself and then add beyond Jordan, in the wilderness.
Lord, we all have a Theresa Jordan in our lives full of drama, problems and self-centered. The Pastor Jandris is a angel sent just in the nick of time. I love a love story that completes itself too..

There were plenty of secrets, and pain to go around in this book. There was also joy and restoration. I love the integrity of Pastor George Landris altho he also had his share of situations to take to his heavenly Father. This book started a little slow for me, that could of been because I started it during the busy Christmas holiday. But when I really needed a break on Christmas night it really took off and I read until I finished the book. If you like Christian fiction I'd recommend this one, I just purchased the sequel to this one.

Promises Beyond Jordan

I enjoyed reading Promises Beyond Jordan and read it in two days. Some places were drawn out, but it kept my attention. I liked the background of the two main characters Pastor Landris and Johnny Mae.

I recommend reading this two book series.

The title of this book is “Promises Beyond Jordan” by: Vanessa Davis Griggs. The main characters in this book were Pastor G. Landris, Theresa Jordan, and Johnnie Mae Taylor. Pastor Landris is a young man who has become a pastor and accepted God to be the head of his life, he has proposed to a woman named Theresa and soon they will be getting married. But Landris isn’t just like any other pastor. He is committed to his job and loves all of the members of his church. Theresa is a beautiful woman who is the daughter of Bishop Jordan. On the outside she is lovely but only few have sensed the raw materials inside of her. Johnnie Mae Taylor is a close friend to Landris, but she lives in a different state and has just started her new career of being an author. The setting of this book takes place in Atlanta & Birmingham, Alabama. The conflict in this story is that Landris and Theresa are supposed to be getting married in a few days, but when Landris rushes off to another state to be by an old friend’s side because of a horrible car crash Theresa gets curious about things. Not only that, but because of a comment that Landis made, ‘Have you ever loved someone from afar?’ It turned out that the two didn’t get married because Theresa thought that he was more in love with Jonnie Mae than he was with her. Towards the middle of the book Landris finds out about Theresa real mother Lisa. Theresa treated her so badly because of how she looked. She had 3rd degree burns from saving a little girl in a fire. Until the day Theresa almost lost her father because of a stroke, Lena finally told her the story about the fire, and how the little girl she saved was Theresa. At the end of the story when all the drama had settled down and Johnnie’s husband had passed, Johnnie Mae and her daughter Rose moved in with Pastor Landris, and this time he proposed to the woman he truly loved!
I really liked this book. Even though it was for adults I still enjoyed it. It’s amazing how the author just relates all of the different obstacles that happened in this book to Christ, but the book all together was even more amazing! CHECK IT OUT!!

George Landris is a wonderful pastor and teacher of Wings of Grace Faith Ministry Church. Members of the church thought that Pastor Landris should find a wife, he who finds a wife finds a good thing. Pastor Landris started dating Theresa Jordan the daughter of Bishop Richard Jordan. Theresa is selfish and does not think about other people feelings. Bishop Jordan is married to Beatrice. Bishop and Beatrice have kept a secret for years. There are times when we will all have troubles, but we need to pray and let God handle it. Promises Beyond Jordan is an awesome book that talks about faith, being true and honest…

Vanessa Davis Griggs is one of the best Christian fiction writers I have ever read! I could not wait to read the sequel. She made her characters believable and story settings where one can relate to, not so many religious overtunes, just enough to know about our Lord and Savior.
