Lauren Pauling and Michael Tallon are two of my favorite characters in fiction. In The Man Who Went to War by Dan Ames Tallon finds himself in the middle of a bank robbery. How it goes and what it leads to I will not reveal, get your own book and find out. This is one of the best in this series and I am so glad that I stumbled upon this author many years ago. I haven't read everything by him yet but I'm close. So far I haven't been disappointed, he sure can tell some tales be it horror, western, thrillers or hard boiled detective stories, he does it all. I have been a proud member of his A-team for a while and that means I get the books before the release so I can tell you to keep your eyes open and don't miss this authors work.
The Man Who Went to War - a review by Rosemary Kenny.
A very brief novella, in which Michael Tallon is pulled into a bank heist, in which he prevents a murder, yet commits two killings to stop it. In the aftermath, he and partner Lauren Pauling work out some of the reasons for what went on. Why is Tallon arrested? Whom do he and Pauling later find dead?
A complicated, twisty string of events finishes with a cliff-hanger, made all the more strange by the rising death toll. What links them all? Dan Ames' lips are sealed, so you'll just have to buy The Man Who Went to War, to find out what's coming next!
Another really enjoyable novella by this great author. Love these short thrillers. Michael Tallon and Lauren Pauling are really likeable and once they are on the scene the bad guys don’t have a chance, they just don’t know it. This time Tallon finds himself just walking into a bank and into a bank robbery. The story goes from there and, of course, like most of the Tallon and Pauling stories, it morphs into a much deeper crime than just a bank robbery. I read all of these short stories in one setting and definitely recommend them to all readers if you like non-stop action and great characters.
I was drawn into another gripping story with Tallon, the action begins at once. Bank robbery was in progress and Talon's thoughts were of the man's hand and gun were not steady and one could smell the sweat. Stopping the robbery in progress, as the police soon came. Who was arrested, Tallon, how can that be, he was the one who stopped it. A tip came in that he was one of them. One call, it was to Pauline to come. I love the author's work, they are clean, and full of action. With Tallon and Pauline working together you are given a great story Given arc for my voluntary review August 31
Another fast-paced, exciting thriller involving Michael Tallon and Lauren Pauling. It starts with Michael going to LA to access his safe deposit box. Then some robbers enter the bank and Michael has to spring into action to save the assistant bank manager from being killed. It's hard to say much more without giving away spoilers but suffice it to say there is more involved than a simple bank robbery. This is a quick read that will keep you engaged.
Book 21 in the Jack Reacher series by thriller author Dan Ames and featuring Tallon and his ex FBI girlfriend, Pauling, They go in search of those behind a bank robbery for which Tallon was initially arrested after killing two of the three perpetrators. Action packed with an interesting plot line but just a tad too short to garner all five stars. This is a solid, quick read series, though, which gets better every time. Recommended
This is another typical Dan Ames story - short, fast, powerful, and leaves the reader wanting more. The characters are intense and the action is fast-paced. If you haven't read any of this series I highly recommend that you do. These characters will quickly grow on you, leaving you impatient for the next installment. I received a review copy from the author at my request and this is my honest opinion.
This is another very fast paced and action packed novella as part of this wonderful series. The main characters in this book are Lauren Pauling and Michael Tallon and they do not disappoint! Once you start this story you will not stop, it is that good. I am lucky enough to be part of this author’s A-team and this is an honest review.
Tallon went to a bank. We all do, every now and again. Nothing strange about that Except Tallon shot a wouldbe robber who was intent on killing the assistant manager and got arrested. None of this is what you could expect when going to the bank. And not long thereafter Pauling got involved as well. And all hell broke out eventually. Perhaps just as well I can manage my financial affairs quite well on the internet. Enjoy
An action-packed thriller with a well written storyline and dynamite main characters. Tallon and Pauling are at their best in this fast-moving novella thriller. A page turning read that I highly recommend. The Jack Reacher cases just keep getting better.
Feel like I got ripped off. The story (what there was of it) is well written, but at about the 1/2 way point of the story the book ends… and up pops an add to buy the next book. It’s like you’re paying for the story by chapters.
Once again Dan Ames gives us a story that will have you trying to guess what could possibly happen next. Michael Tallon might find himself in the middle of a bank robbery but that will not deter him from trying to do something. Plenty of action, suspense to make you wish it will never end.
