Heartbreaking. From the beginning to the end. Marc reminded me of my dad. Dreamy, sad, absent, touching yet irritating. I then had real empathy towards Dad. Life can be overwhelming, full of "accidents"; unfortunately we close our eyes on other people's ordeals, banes and sorrow.
That's exactly what Guillaume Le Touze has brilliantly depicted throughout the book. Tears would sometimes threaten to well up in my eyes, I would catch a breath when Marc did, curl up and frown when Bénédicte did... The characters are truly imaginable because realism is what the book was drenched in.
