With her ex and her kids away, a woman takes up running and meets a new man—but can they make it to the finish line?
Ten years after their divorce, this is the first time Hannah’s ex-husband has had the kids for more than a weekend. Her calendar is gloriously blank, ready to be filled with some self-care time.
That is, until Hannah’s BFFs push her to join them in a charity race for which she’ll need to start training—after all, she’s not doing anything else. And her mum nags her to have Aunt Dorothy over for a visit. So much for me-time . . .
However, Hannah’s not in tip-top shape, and running is a challenge to say the least. Maybe Gabe, the nice-looking personal trainer, can help with that? The more Hannah struggles, the more determined she becomes. But then Hannah is tripped up when she finds out Gabe has a shocking secret. Does this mean he will be out of the running for a place in her heart?
I'm a full time writer, lucky enough to live between the UK and France. And when I'm not tapping away on the computer creating my own literary masterpiece, I usually have my head in someone else's.
I enjoyed this book but did not find it had the same spark with me compared to other novels I had read by Tullett. It was a fun story but I thought the plot to be a little too predictable to get pure enjoyment from.
I liked seeing how Hannah transforms herself. Using the opportunity of a quiet month whilst her teenage twins are away with their dad, Hannah realises that after making the house spotlessly clean, there is only so much she can do to keep herself occupied. With her supportive friends, the group enter a charity run of 5K… except that Hannah is certainly no Usain Bolt.
A chance meeting with hunky Personal Trainer – on more than one occasion – shows to Hannah that fate is telling her she should give this her best shot. With the help of their team leader, Dorothy, the women pull each other together to train for the event. I loved Dorothy’s character especially and how much warmth she added to the story. I found myself really hoping that she would stay in Hannah’s life after the event because she brought a calmness and self-belief to Hannah’s life that seemed to be lacking.
The romance side of the story certainly leaves you hanging. Tullett does not allow this to dominate the narrative and although there is a clear connection building between Hannah and Gabe, this story is not about their romance. He is supportive and helpful towards all of Hannah’s friends and, whilst I did anticipate some of the plot developments, liked seeing how he was there for Hannah in all her training peaks and troughs. It certainly made me consider whether to up my fitness regime!
I think this is a perfect beach read. You can sit and and enjoy the story in a really lazy fashion – let Hannah do all the exercising for you! It’s certainly not a complicated plot and I think this is a “go to” book when you need a story that will wash over you and give you smiles in all the right places.
With thanks to Bloodhound books for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Love on the Run by Suzie Tullett. Ten years after their divorce, this is the first time Hannah’s ex-husband has had the kids for more than a weekend. Her calendar is gloriously blank, ready to be filled with some self-care time. A fun light read. I did prefer her other books though. 4*.
Thanks to Bloodhound books for the ARC. This was a cute rom-com book. I enjoyed it and found it funny at times, laughing out loud. My first book by this author, I hope to read more of her work!
I was given an ARC of this book (thank you bloodhound books) and it’s my first by this author. This book is an enjoyable read. You know what is going to happen as soon as you meet the characters but it’s so much fun and feel good it doesn’t matter!! Fans of Milly Johnson will adore this author. If you want a fun, entertaining romance book- then this is for you!
I received an advance review audiobook for free and am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you Suzie Tullett and Rachel's Random Resources. I'm excited to be a part of this tour.
Love on the Run by Suzie Tullett is a laugh out loud hilarious Rom Com that kept me engaged from start to finish. In this book we meet Hannah, 10 years post-divorce, her ex-husband is taking the twins for more than a weekend. Hannah’s calendar is gloriously blank and she’s ready to fill it with self-care time and decompressing.
When her BFF pushes her to join them in a charity race, she realizes she needs time to train. While her mom wants her to visit with her Aunt Dorothy. It leaves little “me time”. Insert Gabe (the hot personal trainer) who may just be able to help her out. Finding out his Gabe’s secret throws Hannah off and has her wondering where things stand.
This book is well written and filled with an eclectic cast of characters that is hard not to fall in love with. Their personalities are well established, and I found myself rooting for Hannah to find her second chance at love. Her BFF is hilarious, and their dynamic had me laughing so hard I cried! The description were spot on and immersed me in the story and not wanting it to end.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who loves a lighthearted, second chance at love book. This one won’t disappoint, and I look forward to reading more from this author.
What do you do when your ex-husband takes the kids away for a month? My first response would not be to take up running, but that’s exactly what Hannah does in #LoveOnTheRun. She isn’t a natural runner and I must say I did admire her determination. When you keep (literally) running into a hottie like Gabe, I imagine even the most sedate couch lovers amongst us, could be tempted to dust off our trainers.
Ok, so it was maybe a little obvious where this story was heading, but it was a great journey to get there. #LoveOnTheRun is such fun! I laughed out loud and smiled my way through the pages.
There are some fabulous characters in this book. Dorothy is a joy and hilariously funny. I loved the friendship between Hannah, Liv and Mel. It’s always good to read about women having each other’s backs and empowering their friends along the way.
It was uplifting to follow Hannah’s journey as she learns that she is more than just ‘mum’ and finds some new passions in her life.
This was my first Suzie Tullett book, but I’m looking forward to reading more from her. I thoroughly enjoyed her writing style and witty turn of phrase, while she still keeps great warmth and heart in her story.
Funny, fresh and feel good. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
With grateful thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources for a digital arc of this title.
Divorced mother of teenaged twins Hannah imagines a blissfully relaxed month on her own, while twins Beth and Archie go on a vacation in France with ex-husband Carl and his new girlfriend, Monica. She's even taken the month off from her job to fully enjoy it.
She spends the first week cleaning and grocery shopping, and has a scarily clean house, more food than she'll be able to use before it goes bad, and nothing to do. Her friends, Liv and Mel, coax her into signing up for a charity "fun run," a 5K. She almost immediately regrets it, but it's not easy to back out.
Her mother bulldozes her into taking her Aunt Dorothy for a few weeks, because she's lonely and depressed with the recent death of her husband, Denis, and Janice (Hannah's mother) currently has her house in an uproar with renovations. Hannah has time on her hands... Hannah flatly refuses.
Then she accidentally runs into a guy named. Literally runs into. Twice. The first time, she hurts her ankle. Second time, they both get scraped and bruised. The first time, Gabe helps her home, and they get there to find Janice and Dorothy have just arrived, and of course are inside.
Hannah's fate is sealed, in so many ways. The one she's absolutely not going to succumb to is the suggestion that she and Gabe would make a nice couple.
Hannah and her friends commit to the "fun run," and Dorothy becomes their "team leader." Liv's boyfriend, Quentin, says he has a friend who's a personal trainer, and might willing to work with them. Of course it turns out to be Gabe, and Hannah is in for a month of pressure from her friends, Dorothy, and her own hormones.
Meanwhile, her friends have challenges of their own. Liv's boyfriend, Quentin, is a vegetarian; she's a meat-eating farm girl. He's encouraging her to get involved in some of his climate change activism. Mel's boyfriend, Russel--well, she's never actually met Russel, except online. Her friends are worried for the obvious and sensible reasons.
In France, the kids are learning and growing, but they're always astonished, when Hannah during their video calls, turns out to know things they had no idea she knew. Which is basically, anything not related to being a mother. Monica is proving to be a remarkably positive influence on the children, and possibly Carl. After the last ten years of Carl's revolving girlfriends, she finds herself actually liking this one.
These are fun, likeable characters, with strengths and weaknesses and a willingness to grow and learn. Dorothy is a hoot and a joy, and Gabe's father, Roger, though we see less of him, is also wonderful.
Hannah gradually realizes she needs to stop being a full-time mom, and uncover her own identity again.
It's just a lot of fun.
I received a free electronic galley of this book from the publisher via Rachel's Random Resources.
When Hannah gets a month to herself she imagines that she will adore it. The twins are off on holiday with their Dad and his girlfriend and Hannah will be able to do all the things she wants to do. The problem is she has always done everything for her children and forgotten what it is to be Hannah.
It is three of Hannah's friends get together over drinks and decide that it would be a good idea to do something for charity. Hannah hasn't run, she wasn't sporty but tries to give it a go. Her first attempt doesn't go well when she comes crashing into Gabe.
This is such a fun and lighthearted from-com but one that will resonate with quite a few people. Being a Mum, Dad, Wife or partner can mean losing your own identity. Hannah is just discovering this and along with her three best friends, she starts to do something about it. Add into the mix her Mum, Dorothy, and Roger and you have a wonderful story.
This is such a lovely story and one that I read in one sitting. I got caught up with Hannah as she tries her best to get fit and get used to the fact that her little precious bundles are now 15 years old. Being separated for a few years she has gotten used to being just her and the children and she feels she doesn't need anyone else. It isn't until the children are away that she realises how lonely life can be. This gives her a different perspective on life, but she is stubborn so and so!
Gabe is the other part of this story, he also has a past and this one comes crashing into his life making him realise he needs to deal with things. Each of Hannah's friends has new interests and she feels like she is remaining static. Would meeting someone new like her friends make a difference, well you will have to have a read and find out.
This is a story that has some brilliantly funny moments between the characters. There are some more serious issues that are discussed but these fit in with the story and become part of moving on. A gorgeous rom-com that I would definitely recommend.
Love on the Run is a fun fabulous rom-com that will leave a smile on your face.
This book makes me want to grab my running shoes and go jogging. I just felt so motivated after reading it. Love on the Run was precisely what I hoped it would be: a light, easy breezy romance read. I sat down one afternoon and read this book in one sitting. I laughed, I swooned, and I fell in love with all the characters. The story is very typical for a romance book. You have your meet-cute moments between the two main characters, a close-knit group of friends, and a challenge the heroine must overcome. There aren’t many heavy topics or moments in this book. Suzie touches briefly on grief, but it does so positively that I didn’t feel emotionally drained after reading this book. It is just a nice, fun, charming story.
I loved Hannah! She was a great main character in this book. I could relate to her struggle when it came to running. I tend to trip on my own feet when I run. Hannah has realized that she has focused solely on caring for her kids and hasn’t done anything for herself. It was wonderful being on this journey with Hannah as she started to take some time for herself and realize she could be a mother while still pursuing her dreams. Her relationship with Gabe starts out pretty rocky, and when Gabe starts to train Hannah, she thinks he is trying to kill her. But as these two spend more time together, the sparks between them get harder and harder to ignore. This book is great for those looking for a story that isn’t overly romance-y. There are not a lot of romantic moments, but they don’t overwhelm the overall story, which mainly focuses on Hannah and her training for this marathon.
Love on the Run is perfect for bookworms who love Portia MacIntosh and Maxine Morrey’s books.
Hannah is happy running after her fifteen year old twins. But when they go on holiday with her ex for the summer she finds herself at a loose end and agrees to take part in a sponsored run for charity. Her only hope of success is personal trainer Gabe but can she run from her feelings for him...? Love On The Run is a light hearted, fun and wonderfully warm romance set in the UK. Hannah's journey is perhaps a little predictable but this did not stop my enjoyment at all. She is a dedicated single mum whose main focus in on her kids. To my mind, there is a serious message about staying true to yourself and ensuring that being a parent does not result in a loss of self (not easy, as every other parent will know!) I really loved this book and could completely relate to Hannah. I was one of those kids who was useless at PE and had asthma so running was never on my radar. Hannah goes on a journey of self-discovery as she looks at her fitness as well as her personal life. Ten years ago I was a single mum and felt that I had lost my identity so I could understand Hannah's perspective. Learning to run can be tough. I took up running in lockdown and never thought I would manage 5k but now it is easy! Hannah is utterly unprepared for the physical exertion required, and her first attempt is very amusing. However she is determined to persevere and I admired her ambition. Meanwhile her heart is also racing due to her attraction to Gabe. Viewing both perspectives, I was eager for them to find happiness together. There is also a gentle side to the humour as emotions come to the fore. Hannah and Gabe are both struggling with overcoming their fears of a new relationship. However the most poignant part is Hannah's Aunt Dorothy mourning for her late husband which really pulled at my heart. Love On The Run is a lovely warm novel about new chances and love.
Suzie Tullett is a new-to-me author, and her book Love on the Run was my first read of 2024. I purchased the ebook last April, and I am determined to reduce my TBR this year.
We meet Hannah, 10 years post-divorce, and her ex-husband is taking the twins for more than a weekend. She spends the first weekend cleaning and buying far too many groceries. Missing her kids and with nothing to do, her best friends, Liv and Mel, coax her into signing up for a charity 5k fun run.
During one of her training runs, she literally crashes into Gabe, who later turns out to be the personal trainer her friend recommended.
On top of this, her mother persuades Hannah to take her Aunt Dorothy for a few weeks. After all, Hannah has time on her hands and needs something to do.
Aunt Dorothy takes control and becomes the team leader of the group of girls, and together with Gabe whips Hannah into shape for the run.
Gabe has his own demons and is running from his own past, and it takes some interference from his own dad to open his eyes on a new romance.
Aunt Dorothy is a hoot, and I wish I would have an aunt as joyful & hilarious as her. Hannah’s journey is perhaps a little predictable, but this did not stop my enjoyment. A dedicated mother, selfless, and always putting herself last. Encouraged to pick up her ambitions and dreams now that the children are getting older, Hannah realises she needs to uncover her own identity again.
The book brought up so many memories of my first attempts at running, and I saw myself in Hannah swearing that the personal trainer was trying to kill her.
Love on the Run is well written, with a great cast of characters. There were some great funny moments in the story.
A cute rom-com about second chances at love. I will be seeking out Suzie Tullett's other books in the future.
I received an advance review copy for free thanks to Rachel's Random Resources and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

My Opinion
This is a charming rom-com. After her children are taken on holiday by their father for a month, Hannah isn't sure what to do with herself. With the help of her friends, Hannah signs up to take part in a run for charity - as she is not a runner Hannah knows that this is not going to be easy but is she up for the challenge?
This is a relatively short but enjoyable read that I devoured in a couple of hours. We follow Hannah as she tries to learn who she is without her children around. The book does get off to a slow start but the pace soon picks up.
Let's be real, to me a 'fun run' sounds like a contradiction - and yet, this book about a single mum in training for a charity 5k has me considering the merits of digging out my running shoes.
Then again, Hannah has a handsome personal trainer, two supportive best friends who have problems of their own but won't let her get away with hiding, teenage twins who have to learn to not take her for granted, and an absolute gem of an Aunt Dorothy. Aunt Dorothy is hands down my favourite character but I loved how everyone got their moment in the spotlight and a bit of character growth. Yes, it's about running, but even more, it's about Hannah remembering her own worth and reclaiming an identity beyond that of 'single mother'. I'm sure many people will resonate with Hannah's realisation that she's not who she thought she'd be - but her story isn't over yet.
This book gave me all the endorphins without any of the exercise, and I call that a win.
Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book via Rachel's Random Resources; all opinions are my own. For more reviews, check out my blog!
Such a delightful, romantic comedy! I was immediately invested in Hannah’s and Gabe’s stories—trying to figure out how they would be connected before the author revealed. While parts of the story were a bit predictable, the characters were developed in a way that made me feel like I was part of their story and I couldn’t get enough. I enjoyed the banter. I loved knowing the characters were going to end up together (because it’s a romantic comedy!), but really appreciated the old-fashioned approach to courting and romance. Thank you to Bloodhound Books for an advanced copy. I can’t wait to read more books by Suzie Tulley.

An enjoyable, if predictable, light read, with likeable characters and a feel good ending. Several features, apart from the central love story, add to the uplifting story. I like the portrayal of the bonds of both family and friends, and I enjoyed the main character’s good relationship with her ex husband and the warm depiction of his new partner, which was far from the typical wicked stepmother caricature. The effort required to train and take up running was well described, as well as the determination to succeed. One thing that really jarred with me was the misuse of “sat” and “stood”. I reluctantly accept that the incorrect usage, “he was sat” instead of “he was sitting” or he was “seated” has become far too pervasive in dialogue, but I really don’t want to read it in narrative.
This is my first book by this author which I enjoyed and look forward to seeing what is next for her. This is a well developed story where love the second time around may not be so bad. This is a great romance story that had me laughing in parts and wanting to know what happens next in others. They are great characters. They are not only connectable but also written with alot of heart. I enjoyed watching thier growth throughout as well as their chemistry. This is a fast paced story that is hard to put down. It is an engaging story that you don't want to miss. I really enjoyed this story and I highly recommend it.
This is a very sweet book. Hannah, who dislikes exercise, initially refuses to participate in a charity race, but when her children agree that she couldn't run to catch a bus, something inside Hannah wants to show everyone that she's more than a mother.
Add in a handsome guy Hannah always runs into when she's not looking her best, a few lovely friends, a race, and the wonderful Aunt Dorothy who comes to visit, and you've got a recipe for romance, fun, and laughter. What more could you want from a book?
Divorced Mum Hannah, is without her children for four weeks as they have a vacation abroad with their father, but when her friends decide to do a charity run, she needs to train; but an encounter with personal trainer Gabe may help her get through this race as well as find a little love.
This was a really enjoyable and easy read that got through really quickly.
Tullet writes an easy-to-follow narrative with characters you can’t help but like. I loved Hannah’s transformation and progression in this novel and would recommend this to anyone wanting an easy read.
Whatever your go-to genre is and mine's is crime and murder/mystery, this author is my go-to when I need a bit of light relief, romance and fun. She knows how to do that in abundance and this story is no exception. Yes, you know how it will end but the journey is what makes it good. Friendship and family, love and disasters are what intrinsic to the book and you cannot help but smile !
Hannah a single divorced mother of two teenagers is feeling down in the dumps and at a loss of what to do with her life. When she decides to do a charity run, will this bring back her spark? A fun lighthearted romance of love, friendship and discovering yourself. Aunt Dorothy was a real hoot and kept me highly amused. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and if you want a book to help lighten up your mood then this is definitely for you.
Hannah’s children have gone away with her ex-husband and she is at a loss as to what to do with all her freedom. That is until her mother dumps her widowed Aunt Dorothy on her, together with her meddling best friends signing her up for a charity run. What could go wrong! A very entertaining novel with some great characters, it was a real page turner, wanting to find out the next saga to befall Hannah.
Hannah has been left on her own while her children have went on holiday to France with their dad her ex husband. After feeling a little bored she signs up to a fun run which is completely out of her comfort zone. After an unexpected house guest and a few acts of fate, changes the way Hannah sees herself and also people around her notice there is more to her than a glum mum. Really easy to read story, easily get invested in the characters.
Thanks to bloodhound books for this Arc copy . This is a cute little rom-com . .Its a laugh out loud read . Its funny , sweet and keeps u interested all the way through . I loved All the characters , and the jouney they went on . I think most readers will be able to relate to the dating dilemas and how daunting fitness and new beginnnings can be The characters are loveable and relatable . I think we all need a aunt dorothy in our life . If your looking for a feel good read this is for you .
This book had great characters who I really warmed too, especially Aunt Dorothy. It’s a rom-com novel with the backstory being based around single Mum Hannah and her friends doing a fun run. The story is the build up to this and all the characters stories are told in the run up to the race.
This was my first Suzie Tullett read and I really enjoyed it. I will be looking out for more of her books. Thank you Bloodhound for an advance copy.
Courtesy of Bloodhound Books ARC this really is a joyful read. I feel it missed an extra step at the end to fully secure the future of all characters but overall an easy and wonderfully heartfelt read. I certainly could identify with Hannah and her mental load! Just the ticket to complete a hot bath and a glass of wine. I would pick up another Suzie book.
This book is, so far, one of the best books I've read this year. It had me laughing and not wanting to put it down. From page 1 I was hooked and disappointed when it ended. I hope we see more of this crew because I want to know what happened with Liv, Mel and definitely want more Dorothy and Roger, they are absolute humorous treasures!
A brilliant easy read. This book had me hooked from the first page as it was such an easy read. The characters are great and whilst you know love will win out (it always does in romance novels), there are enough little twists to keep the intrigue and make you want to read the next chapter instead of going to sleep! Now going to look at the authors other books.
Thank you to Arc for letting me review this book 📕
I’ve read previous books by this author and like those before it did not disappoint!!
I absolutely loved it, this book would make a beautiful rom-com film, as predictable as it may appear from the opening chapter you are willing for this love story to blossom
Sprinted through this feel good Rom com in two days. Reminded me of ‘Girl on the Run’ by Jane Costello. Having trained for a 10K race myself I identified with a lot of the main character’s mindset and feelings! Lots of fun moments between the friends and family in this book.
This book comes out March 8, 2023. February 23, 2023, the paperback is available. This s a romantic, witty, entertaining characters, and easy flow reading.
