I loved it in the beginning, but lost interest somewhere in the middle. Good writing alone could not make up for the weak plot.

The story got too wrapped up in the JVP insurrections of 1971 and 1989 and lost the focus on the protagonist. It would have been better if the novel continued to focus on the relationship between the mother and the daughter. Instead, it ended up adding characters and issues that added absolutely nothing to the main story or to the much-promised development of its main character.

This has one of the most disappointing endings to any book that I have ever read.

Got my hands on this with great interest but unfortunately it went the other way around halfway through.. beginning was very interesting but the mid part where politics get involved ruins it..

Written in an interesting language by a talented author though the story line is not as much as good as the written style. More than the social injustice and sexual harassment for women it represent how wrong choices made by the protagonist has resulted in tragedy. Therefore the purpose of the story is not successfully unveil.

සාදුකින් පෙළෙන උන් - දැන් ඉතිං නැගිටියවු ! ඕකනෙ වමේ පතාක යෝධයෝ හැමදාම කියන සිංදුව. තනුව පිළුණු වෙලා.
අපි කියමුකෝ සාදුකින් පෙළෙන උන් ඒ ගොල්ලෝ කියන හන්දම නැගිට්ටා කියලා. නැගිට්ටට පස්සේ කරන දේ කියන්න උන්නැහේලා දන්නේ නෑ.
