Summary: This book describes the way whales talk to each other in the sea. Regardless of where they are in the world, they can hear each other. A young boy believes that when they are calling out to each other, they are actually counting. Each whale is on their own adventure when the hear the other whales counting. Grade level: K-4 classroom use: This book would be great to use when talking about either counting, or whales (sea animals). It is an informational book on how Whales communicate, as well as counting from 1-10. Each child could be a whale and we could count around the classroom (that's for younger children of course). Students who would benefit: Any child interested in sea animals or whales would enjoy this book. small group use: This book could be read in small groups and could create discussion on whales. Whole class use: This book would be great for a KWL chart. This way students can research more about whales and their communication. related books: "The barn owls" "10 Fat Turkeys" multimedia connections: n/a
