When we last left Mukohda, an unfortunate salaryman who got accidentally summoned to another world from modern Japan, he had bought a house in Karelina and staffed it. Now, having finally put his house in order and having secured the safety of his business, Mukohda has found himself free enough to leave his home while he goes out adventuring! So, Mukohda and familiars are now in the town of Rosenthal in pursuit of meat, meat, more meat, and some violence for Fel and the others to let off a little steam. But what awaits Mukohda in the dungeon so famed for its meat drops it’s literally called the “meat dungeon”? Some new ingredients for a new type of cuisine? A new time-limited business venture? Maybe even a fateful meeting that may lead to an apprenticeship...?!
This volume is significantly shorter than the earlier volumes. On top of that, a huge portion is skippable with descriptions of food, alcohol, etc. Now Mukouda is getting pushed around by children as well as everyone else. By the way, there is no way that orphan kids that grew up in a harsh and dangerous world would be as carefree and pushy as these kids were. I had no patience with any of that arc. Since it covered the meat dungeon and the meat festival, this novel was particularly boring if you don’t like to hear about the familiars eating their way through the book. As usual, none of his familiars listen to him and he is a complete wimp throughout.
Also, blacksmiths do not make baseball bats out of wood. That doesn’t make any sense. I noticed that he began referring to the slaves as servants, I don’t know if that’s because the author felt it was a little sketchy to keep saying “slaves.”
And then in the bonus story, he gets forced to open his liquor store by a bunch of dwarves. Forget that they should be sucking up to him, instead they intimidate him until he feels pressured.
I have finally caught up with the available volumes from my library. I can’t say that the last few were all that enjoyable. The manga was a lot less irritating, It will be a while before I pick up any more of these.

Our gang visits the meat dungeon this time round, and though not as challenging as the other dungeons so far, it's still pretty fun and funny as it's a meat drop dungeon, Mukhouda even got to meet and make acquintance with a group of orphans and attend the meat dungeon festival.
All in all, a little more laid back than the other novels so far, but still worth the time. Honestly I don't think how this series can disappoint, unless one is someone who doesn't like isekai, slice of life or food to begin with.
One reviewer thought the main character was bad for getting slaves but it feels more like a 'when in rome do as the romans' situation and he is also kind to them, giving them opportunities to learn and better themselves. His slaves were ones that either fell on hard times ,broke contracts and were people that could have paid to not become slaves but decided to become slaves rather than sell personal possessions. The main character signed a contract that allows the slaves to work for wages that they are allowed to use as they want or to save up for the opportunity to buy their freedom. The MC also takes good care of the 10+ slaves, giving them dignity and allowing them to better themselves.
The story is slow, there isn't much plot, and it's main draw is the food, and it's fun seeing him basically bribe the gods the cliffhanger in chapter nine hase wishing book 10 was out. I currently have the books on kindle but I may or may not get the series in book form,I am still debating on that as the main character is really forgettable,I one remember his familiars fel,dora-chan and sui, but other than that he lives a charmed life that I wish to read more of.
This book talked about meat so much even I was feeling quite done with meat even if I was just reading about it haha but it was all good! It was quite indulgent (for the familiars and even Mukohda) and it was nice reading about them having so much fun.
It was also nice reading about the kids. All of those chapters were heartwarming to read. I look forward to reading about Mukohda visiting them again next year. I enjoyed the Extra chapter about them working so hard. They are such good kids!
I feel like Mukohda visited Rosenthal to simply become a blessing to everyone lol a blessing to the orphanage, a blessing to the kids, a blessing to the Adventurer's guild, and a blessing to all the stalls he bought food from lol he really spent a lot and enjoyed a lot and I enjoyed reading all of it!
Now, he's going back to Karelina. I'm excited to read whatever comes next for him.
I feel that this is a cookie cutter series. I like a bunch, but at the same time don’t like the repetition. Gotta give the gods food or drink every volume. I don’t enjoy it anymore or even the describing all the making of different foods. I would like more story advancement. We go some place, make food and describe it, help someone do an impossible quest, feed stuff in between everything, thank everyone, and then go somewhere else. The only thing different I can think of; is in the beginning, where you decided to make some products to sell. There’s also no romantic thing at all-only jokes. The best thing that I like, is that you have an editor that is pretty good at their job; otherwise, I enjoy your works.
I'm enjoying that Mokouda is being generous with a lot of people he meets. So far no one has really try to take advantage of him. I also like the new treatment he's getting from the gods after being scolded by the god of creation. I'm still falsely hoping Mokouda gets a girlfriend.
Overall I really liked this volume. Gradually Mukouda is making some impact on the new world he finds himself basically stuck in for the rest of life. I'm actually going to be curious what other things he'll be doing going forward!
Still an easy and fun read, though I will have to agree with some other readers and say that this one was a bit repetitive. The focus was on the meat dungeon and the meat dungeon festival, so there’s a lot of food, eating, and cooking in this one. Not bad, but my eyes glazed a little bit
following the past couple of volumes, this volume also takes the more slice of life approach than adventure. sure, they enter a dungeon, which was the reason they're in the town they're in in this volume, the star of the show is mukohda's relationship with the people there.
Continues the story and adds a new city and a few new minor characters. Still enjoy its fun adventures with the familiars. Hope he gets more humanoid company soon.
I stumbled upon this series at the perfect time. It’s really helping me escape from a very stressful situation in my life. A very easy relaxing escape from reality fantasy. My only complaint: stop fat shaming Ninrir! It’s not funny and I don’t think it’s necessary as a plot device.
Mukoda and crew arrive at Rosenthal. In here they go to the "Meat Dungeon". They meet some orphans, and Mukoda helps them to upgrade their weapons. He also offers them a job. There are 2 of them that learn to cook some stuff from Mukoda in order to enter a competition, and Mukoda introduces Hot Dogs into the fantasy world! He also donates money to the orphanage, GOOD! However, he does for the wrong reason of having too much money instead of donating because he cares. In the end, they also play Tomb Raider/Indiana Jones and find some treasure. Overall, this volume goes back to the original adventure theme, YEY! However, I did remove a star because of the immature petty comments Mukoda makes about the "heros" and also because I'm getting tired of him being such a chicken shit, specially when he has Perfect Defence and on top, a barrier from Fel. This is volume 9, people need to grow from experiences, and he is not, so it is getting repetitive and annoying. Onto my next adventure, Happy Readings!!!
Dungeon Meat Festival and The Bandit King Treasure. This addition to the Campfire series was fun .From hotdog loving elves, to Sui having a blast in the bandit lair .
