The Clara and Damien trilogy - part of the Delta Underground Operatives series - has been a total blast, and this final book of Sarah's part of the series, which finished far too soon for my liking, was a perfect ending.
I really love a story that has heart to it- not so much in a romantic way, although that's always a nice addition, but a story where, no matter how much evil that the protagonists have to fight, they never let it touch them at the heart.
Clara really is the perfect character for showing this but, surprisingly, for a Vampire, Damien, too, hasn't let the dark sides that have touched his life, stay tethered to his - I won't say soul, because Vampires, famously, don't have them, in that sense - but, I guess, his id might be the better place?
So, he is a perfect complement to Clara.
This last story ended spectacularly, with some very last-minute, seat of the pants, scary, but sometimes hilarious, and occasionally touching, shenanigans - and also ended all those annoying loose ends a bit like like Lord Greggory, really! Lol
I always read the author's notes when I finish a Kindle book (I actually miss that, when reading an ink & paper version), and I was so glad to learn that Sarah's new Series - I'm assuming it to be the Rose Beaufont one that I've already started to collect - will be at least ten books long, as I just can't get enough of those Beaufont stories!
But, getting back to this wonderful Delta Underground Operatives series, I do hope that Clara and Damien do turn up occasionally within it, as I've grown to love them.
The rest of the series has been, and still is, presumably, written by other authors, and I'll be reading them as, and when, they are published.
Talking of which, the next book in the series, has been written by Kat Lapatovitch Healy, and is called: Hunter's Curse: Erin & Larcen.
This is the next book that I'll be reading from this series, so I'll see you on the flip side, to let you know what I think of another author's take of it all!
This one had me laughing from the very first chapter, straight through to the end. And, for some reason, Damien gets all the best lines in this one. It’s hilarious! Don’t hesitate, even if you haven’t read the first two yet, it won’t matter. The lines and the chemistry between these two remind me of the interplay between Bruce Willis and Cybil Sheppard in the TV series “Moonlighting.” It was comedy genius and this book is much like it. This has me thinking back to when the idea of Bruce Willis the comedian becoming an action hero seemed both absurd and impossible. Die Hard changed our minds and now it’s hard to imagine him doing comedy. If you think fantasy and sci are for the birds, pick this book up and it will change ur mind. If you think romance is “silly,” or just for teen girls and old women, pick this book up and it will change ur mind. If you think Love conquers all and that assassins have no place in that world, if you pick this book up, it will change your mind. And me…, An almost 60 year old white guy? Well this has nothing to do with the book, but after reminiscing about now ancient history from the beginning of Bruce Willis’ career,I suddenly hear the voice of my inner old-black-grandmother, sitting on the bench swing on her front porch laughing, “LAWD, now I feel OLD, child!” (Oh yeah, said old-black-grandmother hales from New Orleans). Just read it, you’ll love it.
Voodoo, love, and….poltergeist? YUP!! And so much more! This might be my favorite of the series, just saying! This entire series has been quite fun, especially the banter between Clara and Damien. Opposites do attract! There is a rollercoaster of events that takes both of these through a series of “side-quests” in order to get to the big boss at the end. The best part is that these side-quests take each of them through a learning experience. It takes both of them out of the comfort zones to a point that they get super uncomfortable, but get some really great, and somewhat strange, takeaways. The shenanigans that they find themselves in will keep you turning the page to try and figure out what could possibly happen next. While I love Clara and Damien’s story and would enjoy continuing to follow them, I feel that this was the perfect ending to this part of their journey. I truly hope that Ms. Noffke finds some other story to insert these two in because a cameo would be amazing! And to the author, Sarah, THANK YOU for keeping me entertained!! You rock!
This was incredible and i am very sad to see this trilogy end. From the very beginning when we met Clara and Damien and they became part of the Delta Underground Operatives, coming together to defeat the evil Taz Kiera, I have been hooked. It’s been one hell of a ride, chaotic, crazy, action packed and full of twists and turns as the author has masterfully weaved the story and drawn us in. Incredible world building and amazing characters especially our mc’s whose banter and hilarity only enhances their chemistry and partnership and together they learn from each other, to help face their battles to save the day! Absolutely incredible.
Audiobook: I enjoyed book 3 of the "Delta Underground Operatives" as much as the first two. Clara and Damien were told to gather special items owned by the people held by Taz Keira. This directive wasn't always easy to follow. Clara and Damien continued to grow as partners. The story was fast paced and filled with plenty of action. I enjoyed the humor throughout the story especially Damien's amusing quips. Annalee Scott's narration was great, and her performance added to the story's entertainment. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily posted this review.
The Immutable Pact - Clara & Damien (Book 3): Delta Underground Operatives, my thirty-fourth read from author Sarah Noffke. A well-written, interesting read, with intriguing, well-developed characters that make you want to read the whole ongoing story in one sitting. “I received a free Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more from this author. Annalee Scott's narration again adds to the book’s enjoyment. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
I'm a little upset I've come to the last of the 3 duo books, I had really immersed myself in this world such brilliant characters ,,plot line, and fun was had by all of us, please Sarah think a bout coming back to write some more duo plot lines i'm sure I'm not the only one asking , a really well deserved 5 stars
A really fine and enjoyable book in this series, wonderfully fun to read!!!!
Congratulations to Sarah Noffke for this book in this amazing series. It’s extremely hard to find such an interesting and exciting author who not only writes intelligently but also provides top rated plots, characters and excitement in the stories.
A great ending to this new world and hopefully with a bit of success we shall see a return to these characters as the connections between them are what Noffke excels at with her writing.
Our POVs find out what it takes to be successful and turn that into a viable partnership. The few surprises along the way simply strengthen the bond. Uniquely, they each come to realize how easily fate brought them together.
I always enjoy Sarah Noffke's books and am glad I read this series. The characters were a lot if fun, I enjoyed the villains as much as the heroes and also all the side characters, and the storyline was very good and kept my interest through all three books.
Just when you think it can't get any better it does. One thing about this author is you can guarantee you will fall in love with the characters, her writing is flawless, funny, emotional, and thought-provoking.
The Immutable Pact is the last book in this fun trilogy about a magical pair of misfit assassins. The stories present a bit too idealized view of a nasty business in my opinion, but they’re entertaining.
Everything, a cute vampire rock star, an innocent psychic, and non stop adventures. All her troubles are gone, except her sister. Even the ex gangster/boyfriend.
I really enjoyed The Immutable Pact as a great ending to the series. Questions were answered and things were tied up nicely. Clara and Damien's relationship is strengthened as they learn from each other. There is plenty of action as they must track down the prized possessions of each coma patient. This takes them to many different locations and they are faced with different battles at each location. Lots of action, adventure and magic. Great series.
