It’s time for leaders to join the mindful business revolution and find true success.

Although the world is currently abuzz with the term “mindfulness,” some believe mindfulness is a fringe activity to be practiced before or after the workday, if at all. Too few business professionals take the time needed to be present and aware throughout the workday, which is counterproductive. Dr. Eric Holsapple, successful developer and entrepreneur, has realized the value of mindfulness as not only a path to personal success, but as a sound business strategy.

Mindfulness and Presence can transform business culture, improving focus and communication while reducing distractions and stress. Holsapple learned this lesson years ago, after achieving “success” as defined by society but still feeling unhappy and stressed. In Profit with Presence, he shares the lessons he learned and his twelve pillars for personal and business success, which are easy to understand and implement through practice exercises.

Holsapple shows that bringing mindfulness to the workplace is an investment that pays out real dividends. Readers will learn from his journey—along with support from other mindful leaders and research—to help them bring mindfulness to themselves as well as their families, businesses, and communities. Now is the time for leaders to invest in the mindful business movement and become part of the solution.

This is an interesting book. It may be worth reading if the reader is a CEO that is open to harmonizing the way they operate both at work and in their everyday lives, or someone who aspires to become a CEO that is successful, well rounded, healthy and who will also end up feeling like they have a good handle on life.
The creator of this work also seems to have a refreshing understanding of their power to influence the world in a positive way outside of work without needing to stress themselves out or sacrifice their business success.
There is a focus on holistic health practices and mindfulness, and about the power of listening to and including others in these practices after feeling confident in doing these exercises on one's own.
Some parts of this book are a little repetitive, but the reader can clearly feel the enthusiasm of the author's passion in spreading his knowledge through the written word.
The only thing that I wish was included in this book is a mention of possible knee jerk skepticism on the part of the reader gleaning this information for the first time. It was difficult for me at times to continue reading when I found myself resistant to some of the ideas in this book. I am glad to have read this all the way through, but a less patient reader might hesitate in finishing it.

This book, in my understanding, focuses more on mindfulness in everything we do-and more so bringing that to the places we work, to the people we interact with at work.
The author shares twelve pillars beginning from something as basic as being present through to being curious and each pillar in the chapters comes with exercises ranging from journaling, breathwork, yoga, meditation, communication and listening-all to improve and be more consistent in our mindfulness.
I would recommend this to anyone who wants to improve on the quality of relationship at work- and engage others without utmost judgement.
While reading this, I learned something new that I had never thought of, but upon reading it-could reflect on having experienced it. It's called 'The Precession Effect.' This means the side effects of an intentional action are often the main event.
Thank you Netgalley and the Publisher for this eARC.

If mindfulness seems a bit outside of your comfort zone - this is an excellent practical entry into the concept and practices. It includes the benefits of mindfulness and how it translates to all aspect of your life: business, personal, family, community. Eric had taken what can be an abstract concept and turned it into something so simple and necessary - it would be crazy NOT to practice mindfulness and incorporate it into everything you do - including business. I would advise allowing time to truly digest each pillar and practice, integrating them slowly. I plan to re-read it and taking about a week or two with each pillar. It's a great read for anyone looking for a roadmap to true happiness and success. It's all there - I think the key is to let it sink in and take the necessary action.

I really like a lot of his ideas but it was hard to get through the book. I'm not sure if it was his wrting style or the way he sometimes belabored a point but it alternated between fascinating and tedious. Maybe it's just because I'm not an entrepreneur, and while I am interested in applying mindfulness in the work place I'm still focused on getting there in my personal life. 3 stars for presentation and storytelling.

I was so relieved at 61% complete to reach the end of the book .... and discover that the 12 pillars and chapter take aways and exercises are all neatly listed in the back - darnit (and hallelujah!). Added a star for that cuz this is darn useful. I really did like the topic.

This book started off fine. Part 1 was interesting enough and for me was the most valuable section.

Parts 2 and 3 got tired after a while and seemed to rely on circular logic and had other logic fallacies.

I like the direction Holsapple was trying to go; ultimately it began to feel preachy and holier-than-thou which turned me off.
