Great!

Another great volume following the SwordDad and his murderous daughter. Loving the build up and the interactions Fran has. Artwork continues to be beautiful too.

By far the worst book in the series, even toppling the boat ride. I don't think I've ever wanted a fight to end so badly as this one. Fanatix taking up near 80% of the book before finally moving the plot forward.

Tanaka Yuu should honestly quit writing bad fights where he has to write out explosion sounds like a twelve year old writing a school assignment novel, instead of actually describing the scenes and what's happening. Nothing has ever topped Fran's awakening and it feels like every book since has been a roller coaster ride or downward spiral in both writing and content. Which makes me think that's where it was supposed to end and the rest just has been filler because it became too popular for what it was. Now he has to do world building and geopolitical quarrels between countries he haven't made up the names of yet and up the stakes and the power levels somehow to give us some progression. Something arguably beyond his current capacity.

I'm honestly not sure if I even want to purchase any further novels in the series, this one burned me so badly it pretty much killed the series for me, an impressive feat after 12 volumes.

My hopes goes to the anime saving this, since it focuses more on Fran's perspective, plus it actually gives her some agency and doesn't use Teacher as a constant author self insert with inane comments about situations.

A really interesting volume. A battle between Godswords is awesome and demonstrates the power level of them.
This volume also shows a little of the nobles and the politics of them, even if Fran is not interested in it.

An 8hr audio book. Along with feeling like the MCs never learn from their mistakes, it makes it worse by introducing new ppl just to confuse the situation. overall, i like the series and this book, but it's lacking something that I can't describe.

Volume 12 is the end of the Fanatix arc, giving us a bit of information on Teacher's past in the progress. While I enjoyed the book well enough mostly due to Teacher and Fran, the pacing felt a bit off. The first 2/3rds was almost non stop fighting, and than we get a long epilogue and a teaser on what the next part will be about (Teacher's origin and purpose). Still, a good read.
