Dr. Gundry‘s “The Plant Paradox,” is a very informative book about foods that we believe to be “healthy.“ This book takes the important points and highlights them for us. Each chapter contains key, knowledge, pointers, such as, although plants are an important source of nutrients for us, these are the same species that can cause lasting damage when not consumed properly. Another little known fact is that lectins have more control over us than they had on our ancestors because of our lifestyle changes, the personal-care products we use as well as due to the widespread use of medicines such as broad-spectrum antibiotics. Definitely check this book out If you want a quick recap of “The Plant Paradox.”
Dr. Gundry’s short answer is yes. Plants have a defense system that is not always visible. This system causes hard to the human digestive system after a while of consuming the plant lectins. In this book, he provides the Plant Paradox Program which is a a way of leaning up your gut and preparing the environment for better conditions. This book sheds so much light on weight gain and gut health. Such an awesome read. I totally recommend this book. It is likely that will have a health reawakening after reading it!
I've been told a few that most 'diets' were a marketing scheme that encourages you to buy certain foods and products, but didn't know enough to back it up. I've always been under the impression that certain foods aren't necessarily bad for you but that we are just using them wrong. I'm glad that someone took the time to research the topic and really lay it all out there, not skimping on the reasons behind it all. I'm going to take this shortened version and start running with it. Kind of a head start before I get the full version.
It seems a little confusing. Like it advises against using grape seed oil buy then it advises you to take a grape seed supplement. I'm not sure if they are saying grape seed oil doesn't have enough reservatoral but then where does the supplement come from? I liked that it was more concise. I tried reading the m original plant paradox but it was to much background and I didn't know when they were going to get to the actual program. So this was better.
This book is as provocative as it is fascinating. It offers an intensive look at the gut microbiome with a detailed explanation of what leptins are and why you don't want to consume food containing them. This book thoroughly explores endocrine disruptors that surround us, including cash register receipts. Who knew??
