SOME PEOPLE ARE EVIL. THEY MASSACRE. THEY RAPE. THEY TORTURE.
ACCORDING TO HARRY BAUER, THOSE PEOPLE FORFEIT THEIR RIGHT TO LIVE.
USA TODAY & Amazon 2-million copy bestselling author BLAKE BANNER is back with a brand new gripping thriller series!
He works for COBRA, an organization that exists in the shadows, whose purpose is to take down those who commit crimes against humanity, who are beyond the reach of the law. So where the law can’t reach, Harry goes and takes out the trash. But when he is sent to take out the Chechen war criminal, Abbas Magomadov, a colonel in the infamous Kadrovitsy , the 141st Special Motorized Division, he finds that somebody got there before him and, literally, took Magomadov apart. Was it Magomadov’s personal assistant, Salambek Bazurkaev, who has now gone missing? Or the amiable, courteous but inscrutable Bohdan Fedorko, a Ukranian refugee, secretary to the cult of Nergal, in which Magomadov had become involved? Or was it the mysterious and beautiful Anna Molyboha, who had been seen visiting Magomadov on several occasions before his death? What, if anything, had these people to do with Colonel Magomadov’s bloody past? And if Harry’s job had been done for him, what should he do now, walk away…?

Blake Banner’s The Unavenged, a Harry Bauer thriller, tries ambitiously to blend heart-pounding action with philosophical reflections on war and violence. This installment sends our seasoned protagonist, Harry Bauer, on a mission to neutralize Abbas Magomadov, a notorious Chechen war criminal masquerading as the founder of the Church of Nergal. The twist arrives early when Bauer discovers that Magomadov has already met a gruesome end, sparking a gritty investigation into a trio of suspects: the dutiful assistant Salambek Bazurkaev, the enigmatic Ukrainian refugee Bohdan Fedorko, and the dangerously alluring Anna Molyboha.
The book excels in action—a hallmark of the series—immersing readers in a cinematic race against time as Harry Bauer untangles a web of deceit and treachery. However, where the novel aims to delve into the deeper, murkier waters of the philosophy of war, it somewhat misses the mark. These segments, though potentially enriching, may disrupt the pacing for readers primarily engaged by the series’ usual kinetic energy.
A good thriller that has Bauer on a mission to assassinate a wanted criminal and mass murderer. On reaching his objective he finds that someone else has beaten him to the kill. Gathering up all available evidence as proof to establish who the unrecognisable body was including a severed hand he leaves the scene awaiting forensic results. DNA establishes that the severed hand did belong to his target but Bauer has doubts about the body later confirmed. Investigation leads him to a sect which he joins and establishes that his target is alive and well. Events lead him to eventually carry out the assassination of the target although the story leading up to it are far fetched and not really believable.

Aside from the errors…I counted 4…a word with your proofreader, BB…two I skipped over…two I highlighted: Pg 176…”Ernesto writing”…pg 179…”She want get far”. Being the wordsmith that you are, BB… I know all will be resolved. Masterful story line kept the pages dervishly flipping. Well spun, BB. Loved that you described her as a heroine and not a hero, keeping feminine language in tact. Looking forward to the next tome. Thank you, BB. Post Script: Eager to try out the smoked salmon avocado salad🥗
I love this series, but like many of them, there seem to be typos here and there as well as character name changes. Bob somehow became Ben I. The last few chapters. Did I miss something? There were a few more like someone "writing" on the floor instead of writhing on the floor. I pay for these books voluntarily and I expect that a professional writer has a proofreading team that is competent. This is not the first review where I have mentioned this.
I have read all of the Harry Bauer books and have never been disappointed. As usual non stop action with lots of twists and turns. I very much look forward to the next book, The Devils Vengeance. A big thank you to the author, Blake Banner and well deserved 5 stars from me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The book is awesome I love harry Bauer. The problem is bob became Ben Somewhere at the close to the
The Problem is bob became Ben somewhere close to the end of the book when he got off the plane. Overall harry Bauer is pretty awesome Reading. Look like an editor problem Hope you catch it if you read it
Yet again Harry Bauer finds himself in a situation that is not entirely what it seems, his task is to find a massed murderer and ultimately kill him,but as always Harry has to make sense of the situation and ultimately find the truth about what is happening before he brings justice and death to those who deserve it.
This was another great chapter of the Bauer series . Harry never seems to far out of trouble. He always gets the job done . Now he has spoils of the job he needs to see the Colonel to get that squared on their issues. But will he settle down with the doctor . We shall see!!!! 10 stars plus!! Thanks, Carl Clause
This is one of my favorite series!! Love the main character Harry Bauer! He's a hero in my book. He takes care of eliminating the bad guys!! Please keep this series going!! Excellent book!!
The theme of “conquest” runs deep: first the victory by Harry over his enemies but also the battle within himself facing multiple personal issues. Good read with plenty of action and plot twists. Plus the foundation is laid for next adventures.
How badly can war criminals destroy countries and society? Harry Bauer tracks a psycho killer and confronts him in his kingdom/ commune. Interesting reflections on good and evil, God and gods, justice and revenge. How much violence can one human body sustain?
Harry book in all its action and telling. Philosophy 101 utilization was not a strong point for me and the ending went entirely too quickly as though the author figured he had enough for now, so ended it quickly.
Harry has his hands full. The person is tracking seems to be one step ahead, but when he finally tracks him down , he finds that he must infiltrate a religious cult that his target leads. Lots of action!
I have truly enjoyed Harry's stories. I am disappointed with the careless mistake of Bob being called Ben by the time of his fight with Harry. This happened in one of the other books too. Otherwise, good reading! Thanks for your imagination and skill!
I was a bit disappointed after having finished the last story and been left hanging wanting an ending so I looked for it in the next book only to find a different tale that lead to another tale and didn’t provide the answers I wanted. Maybe in the next story?
beware egomaniacal narcissists with a god complex!
Beware egomaniacal narcissists with a a god complex! Harry Bauer is once again pulled away from his preferred location to another hit and it all goes wrong!
Boy does Harry get himself into the craziest things, but finds a way to save his butt and kill the bad guys. Let's see where he goes now back to his lady friend or still with Cobra???
In which Bob becomes Ben and the whole narrative unravels. Sloppy from beginning to end. I am “required” to further elucidate as if these comments were not enough!
The storyline had lots of potential, but for the most part seemed to miss all the targets It could have been so much more, but with varying amounts of subterfuge and duplicity from just about every character in the book, it just became a Mish mash of different perspectives
