A cousin to Billie Eilish (though she's never met her in person), blood descendant of Wild Bill Hickok, and a long line of artists and creators, Kathy Haan believes the secret to telling a great story is living one. The second youngest, in a massive horde of children between her parents, she did her best to gain attention and kept everyone entertained with jokes and wild stories.
She lives a life of adventure with her hunky husband, three children, and Great Pyrenees in the Midwest United States. While new to fiction, you might’ve seen her work in Forbes, where she’s a regular contributor. Or, in Notoriety Network’s 12x international award-winning documentary, #SHEROproject.
Book 2 fell flat if I'm being honest. It had the potential to be really good. Instead, the writing was messy, and it felt rushed and almost incomplete. I know we have a 3rd book coming, but honestly, this one should have been more thought through and better developed.
Spice is a half🌶 (all but 1 scene are fade to black). Not that this is a bad thing but more of a PSA to those who care.
4⭐️- definitely enjoyed the second installment of this much better, loved the pacing and the story, can’t wait to read more.
Rose needs to find the threat to her family. When it is unveiled that the Dean is the one threatening her, she and her mates work with her parents to find and eliminate the threat. This includes questioning Kieran, her grandson. When they determine that he had nothing to do with the threat, Rose, her mates, her brother and Kieran move to the Sanctuary to continue to search and train. Rose is torn on her feelings for Kieran, there is something there but also so much baggage.
Meanwhile at school, a new Dean is named, and this Dean begins a tournament (think hunger games meets triwizard tournament) to become the “Arcane Scholar.” Rose and her mates compete in a series of tasks designed to test their physical, mental and magical prowess.
So good. Left on quite the cliff hanger so I can’t wait to keep going.
With Dean Fallgren missing, a new Dean steps in at the Academy and announces an exciting competition for the title of Arcane Scholar. Rose, along with her four mates, friends, and twin brother, enters the contest, all in the name of protecting their family.
One of the highlights of the story is the evolving relationship between Rose and Kieran. I was rooting for them from the moment he blocked her path in the first book, but their romance still hasn’t reached the point I hoped for.
This installment is packed with surprises, including the discovery of long-lost relatives and mystical flowers that bloom for those touched by divinity. The cliffhanger at the end has me itching to dive into the next book—I might just have to call in sick to work to find out what happens next! Highly recommend!
I cannot wait for April is all I can say. The next one is out in April. The dynamic between all of these characters is absolutely amazing. My heart breaks for Kieran but I hope and pray things are looking up. Rose has a heart. Kinda jealous of all the hunky men she has. lol. There are times in the book that keep you guessing, like who the crow is that keeps following her around
I liked this one more than the first in terms of actual reading experience and pacing. It’s still a bit juvenile in writing and feels like it’s just telling you events at times rather than having you experience it through the writing. Characters are a bit surface level and obviously pretty fast burn on LOVE. That said, I sped through this and had a good time. It’s just enough bath shit crazy drama for me to keeeep goingggg
Ok so I liked the book and the plot was good, I really hope Kieran gets saved by Chaos, but it annoyed me a lot how they kept talking about the sexual tension and building up to the scenes then just skipping them all together and resuming the morning after. There were a couple of smut scenes but they were eluding to so much more

With her mates & friends all competing against each other along with trying to help one another navigate all the trials of the competition, they neglected to see the pain one of them is consumed with. Venom for freedom, most feared things for each is encountered, a God is revealed with another soul bond. What a twisted tale of the course.
It was good, not great. The writing fell very flat, the plot was unclear to me, and the moments that I think were supposed to be the most dramatic and exciting in the book were really just dull. I would not read this one again. Also the number of FTB scenes was uncomfy. Meh
This series is amazing, I love all the different creatures and how they all interact with each other, the love she has for all her mates and how they individually mean so much to her. The story is fast paced and keeps you wanting more.
Definitely what you would expect from a reverse Haram. Good smuttiness without it being the sole focus. I enjoyed the plot of this one and how the characters have grown into one big family. Excited to start the last book.
DNF!!! Sorry, but I really couldn't get over the bad writing, the constant repetitions of sentences every few pages, the character of the FMC, etc. It was also way too fast-paced, like within 20 pages, 10 (significant) things happen.....
So much better than book one. So much more exciting with unexpected turns. Highly recommend having book three ready though because you are going to want it after the cliffhanger in book 2.
lost interest in this series quite fast. didn't liked book one much but hoped for some 'you need to get into it' but the dynamics and the plot (?) wasn't for me.
This is my favorite book in the series. It’s seeing all the character develop starting to come together. All I have to say is Rose is one lucky b having all of those mates🫡✨💕
