Something has always been missing from my life. A hole that I could never seem to fill.
When I accidentally turn a coven of witches into nightmares, I find out what that something is.
Magic.
And it turns out, I have a crap load of it. As a latent power awakens deep inside of me, I’m exposed to one of the most powerful and corrupt organizations in the magical world—the Mages’ Guild.
Barely knowing a spell from a few swear words and luck, I won’t be able to evade them alone. And that’s when I meet him. The Rogue Natural. The best and most feared mage in the world.
He’s dangerous, mysterious, and has a vendetta of his own. He is now the only thing between me and magical enslavement.

Little disappointed in this one. This was a bit of a letdown after the last connected series. There is such a dramatic shift in characters, and I'm really not liking this FMC as much. The heroine very much feels like a YA heroine.
I appreciate this book in the context of the series, but I hadn't expected it to read like a YA book. I think Penny is 19, and unfortunately, she sounded more like she was 14. I understand that her mother kept her under her wing, so she was naive, but she just read and sounded so much younger than what I've come to expect of 19-year-olds in fantasy books. I enjoyed Emory; I liked his character and emotional journey a lot. I'm glad that this book didn't end on an HEA, it gives me a reason to look forward to the next one. Hopefully, it'll be more grown up. Overall, though I found many aspects of the story and the graphic audio entertaining, it just wasn't as fantastic as I wanted it to be.
I enjoyed this book, but not as much as the first three. I'm still going to listen to the rest of the series as I enjoy the characters and plot. Plus, I'm keen to see how Penny and Emery's story unfolds.
Basic Plot: Penny is a natural witch just discovering her abilities when she runs into Emery and is drawn into his hunt for his brother's killer.
This extension of the Demon Days, Vampire Nights series brings a new main character to the forefront. Penny is very different from Raegan. I really like Penny. I found myself smiling at her antics often, whether it was her ridiculous swears or her jumpy reactions. Her mom also cracked me up. The plot moved along well, so I really got to enjoy the ride.
I really loved the Dramatized Adaptations for Ilona Andrews, so I figured I'd love this one, too, since I really enjoyed the book. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. I'm not sure if it was just my reading mood or what, but the story failed to grip me. I was really bored and didn't care for the narrator, so I DNF'd about halfway through.
I listened to this on graphic audio and Penny had me cracking up. I loved Emory and I hope he finds what he’s looking for. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
