lavish
I both did and did not like this. The final battle was awesome, but it took a long time to get there.
I’m not sure if I’m going to stick with this series. It’s a tough read.

Struggle bus
I've been following the releases in this series and this entry follows along in similar fashion.
This series does a lot of things well, but over time has been doing a larger number of things poorly.
To summarise; the main narrative is one of the things which is done well. The plot twists, surprises and many of the core characters are very unlike anything I've read before, outside of anime, which is great.
The sub-plots though, were kinda terrible and unfortunately are more predominant in the first 60% of the book, hence the struggle bus heading. It's mostly Harem nonsense, admittedly the author does it in a different way than I've seen before... but its still Harem nonsense. It teeters between being an "ok" depiction of non-monogamy, to just being skeezy honestly. There's a lot of obsession and weird power dynamics in the language used from various characters over the course of that plot and it just didn't work for me.
Add onto that the continuing struggle from the author mashing past, present, and future tenses into the same sentence so its difficult to understand large chunks of dialogue/narrative without re-reading, and this book became a slog for me to get through.
It's really disappointing because I am still enjoying the main narrative as that is really good! But I honestly might drop the series at this point. Outside of the Harem stuff which isn't really that difficult to deal with, the editing issues are really getting worse.

Apocalyptic!
This book is a great progression of the apocalypse on earth! Lots of action and great characters. Some major changes to earth but a good setup for full system implementation. Lots to read in the next book!

Awesome!
Great read. I read the follow-up series of this series first, which was a 5 star series. I think I did the right thing! Reading this series second as the backstory to the second series seems natural. I'm looking forward to the next book!

Great Series
