Full disclosure - I worked with Michelle at a company she doesn't talk about in the book before she moved to DC... I knew she had come back to the area and was divorced and that there was some intrigue behind it so out of curiosity... and SUPPORT I had to give it a read...

First off everything she explains is so true about Michelle. She would stay SO LATE at the role at the company where we had worked together - she is meticulous and buttoned up. And those wonderful Michigan visits. Again so true - it's a magical place... but I digress...

I picked this up on my Kindle. Not my typical read as I'm more of a non fiction reader when it comes to self-help, environmental topics or running and cycling... but I finished this in 24 hours flat over the New Year.

What I really appreciated about the book were the first-hand emails that showed the interactions between her and her dad. Sometimes I glazed over them but also, it had me enthralled at simply how cool her dad was... like his banter and playfulness made me jealous - I want a dad or a guy friend like that!

But beware... I was only into two pages and I texted a friend asking if she had picked it up. She had not and I said I don't know if I can continue - this writing is in need of an editor!! Fast forward one more page and it becomes clear she starts off with a piece of writing from her HS years... Ahh it all makes sense. From there it was fun, fast reading.

If I had to give one other piece of feedback it would be that the title is a wee bit sensationalized. I mean there is discussion of a long-ago maybe murder... it's not a book about all those things really. It's more about a woman finding herself, trusting herself and going for it.

I get the issues with her husband I could relate there too - so all in all a great fun read and Michelle, I'm so glad to know you came out on the other side stronger and KEEP WRITING!
