"Do you know the sound that a swarm of bees makes? It's easy to recognize on the radio or on TV. In real life, it's very terrifying! I started to run."
A Baker Squad Adventure is a true story about a family of 5 siblings that were chased by a swarm of bees. The adventure part of the story is how these kids between the ages of 5 and 9 years old chose to handle their situation!
This book is written for the early chapter book reader at the end of 1st grade through the beginning of 2nd grade. The font is a larger print and the sentences are separated more often to help this age group track more easily while they read.
This would also be a great Read Aloud for families and teachers.
This is a fun story about sibling relationships and outdoor play with a bit of danger and decision-making. It promotes imagination, physical activity, and putting others first in the form of a personal anecdote. The story is told in first person and related as a memory, as if you were sitting and listening to someone reminisce. There is not much dialogue, but the action and pacing work very well for an animated read-aloud sure to keep the audience's attention. An early elementary student could easily read it independently and would be eager to know what would happen next. I agree with the author's grade-level designation and would definitely recommend it!
I enjoyed this short family adventure story about playing outside, bee's and taking care of each other. I would have liked to see a treat with honey and maybe something about bee allergies and epi pen. Kids need to play more outdoors!!
