Here, you will enter a world of magic and prophecy, a world where twins and sisters are destined to shape the fate of two different and unique kingdoms. Alaia, our FMC, a college professor. She is violently attacked on her way to her car one night while still on campus. And knowing that her eyes are not deceiving her, she knows that her attacker is indeed a demon who has, in fact, been sent from hell.
The man who rescued her, wearing a strange cloak, and with just a single touch of his hand Alaia's eyes and mind are open wide to the Fae and the Fae realm and she can see all that it entails. She can also see all the Fae surrounding her and the Guardians that protect the human realm.
Alaia goes to the Human Protection Services Headquarters so the Guardians can decide what they should do about her.
Mattias, our MMC, he's our grumpy handsome guardian who is blamed for this massive screw-up so he's the one that get's the responsibility of taking care of Alaia, she has two choices to choose from. The first is to have her memories wiped and return to her maundane human life with her eyes closed again. Or, she can stay in the Fae realm, learn about the Fae blood that could or might be running through her blood, this is yet unknown in her case, but the choice is up to her, and time is running out
.
I have to say that Lyssa did this amazing job with this book in creating a magical world all about the fae, and it is so unique and different and I loved the challenges that Alaia had to face. She has to face night creatures and brave the Seelie court all to try and erase her memories. But, nothing is ever that simple.
This is a quick paced read and includes a burning romance, magical creatures, and a war between kingdoms. We know that Alaia was sent to the human world to be hidden away for her own safety and protection and her sister (who we don't really get to meet in this book, hopefully in the next) but is name in the prophecy is actually not her sister by blood but by chance I guess you would say. (Sorry for a minor spoiler.)
