Mattias, the grumpy but oh-so-handsome guardian, is blamed for the screw-up and given the responsibility of watching over Alaia. Thank you Lyssa for the ARC!
*This was a fast and magical novella.

Lyssa did a great job of creating a unique and magical fae world within the span of a novella. Alaia has to face some major challenges as she is attacked by a night creature from the fae world and in order to return to her normal life, is forced to brave the Seelie court alongside a handsome Fae name Mattias. Together the brave the wilderness on their journey to erase her memories, so she can return home.

Of course it couldn't be that simple, as Alaia begins to notice some unusual things about herself and the world she is in.

This is a quick paced read and it includes burning romance, magical creatures, and a war between kingdoms.

This book was my 1st introduction to this author. It was a very short read. I do wish there had been more world building to understand the story better, but the overall concept was good, and I can't wait to read the next one.

This was my first book from this author, and it was a lovely introduction! This novella is quick and easy to read (versus the fantasies that can be rather dense) and an enjoyable story.

I would love to see an expanded version of the story, diving deeper into their world and Alaia and Mattias's relationship. There are, however, two other books in the series, which may give me exactly what I'm looking for. I would certainly be willing to read more from her!

🌶 Kissing, fade to black

Here, you will enter a world of magic and prophecy, a world where twins and sisters are destined to shape the fate of two different and unique kingdoms. Alaia, our FMC, a college professor. She is violently attacked on her way to her car one night while still on campus. And knowing that her eyes are not deceiving her, she knows that her attacker is indeed a demon who has, in fact, been sent from hell.

The man who rescued her, wearing a strange cloak, and with just a single touch of his hand Alaia's eyes and mind are open wide to the Fae and the Fae realm and she can see all that it entails. She can also see all the Fae surrounding her and the Guardians that protect the human realm.

Alaia goes to the Human Protection Services Headquarters so the Guardians can decide what they should do about her.

Mattias, our MMC, he's our grumpy handsome guardian who is blamed for this massive screw-up so he's the one that get's the responsibility of taking care of Alaia, she has two choices to choose from. The first is to have her memories wiped and return to her maundane human life with her eyes closed again. Or, she can stay in the Fae realm, learn about the Fae blood that could or might be running through her blood, this is yet unknown in her case, but the choice is up to her, and time is running out
.
I have to say that Lyssa did this amazing job with this book in creating a magical world all about the fae, and it is so unique and different and I loved the challenges that Alaia had to face. She has to face night creatures and brave the Seelie court all to try and erase her memories. But, nothing is ever that simple.

This is a quick paced read and includes a burning romance, magical creatures, and a war between kingdoms. We know that Alaia was sent to the human world to be hidden away for her own safety and protection and her sister (who we don't really get to meet in this book, hopefully in the next) but is name in the prophecy is actually not her sister by blood but by chance I guess you would say. (Sorry for a minor spoiler.)

2.5 stars rounded up to 3

This was an okay read for me, and generally, I liked it, but wow, things moved quickly.

A Touch of Prophesy started out quite promising – Alaia and Mattias were good mains (though Alaia was a little annoying in the beginning) and I liked how their meeting was set up. However, as the novella progressed, the plot felt more and more rushed. Alaia finds out that she has magic, there’s a curse and a deal, then she’s able to defeat a whole army despite lack of training? It’s just too much, too soon. I also found it difficult to really connect with any of the characters because there was very little back story, or explanation for pretty much everything.

I feel this entire work has a lot of potential, but perhaps it may be better to have as a full-length novel rather than trying to cram in so many things in such a short length. If there were more details and the overall a little more fleshed out, then I think it could add another, deeper layer to it.

Thank you Voracious Readers and Lyssa Lund for my copy! I received an ARC of this novella and am voluntarily leaving a review. All above thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you Lyssa Lund for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

This Novella follows one sister, Alaia, in her journey to discover that she is actually fae and was sent to the human realm to be hidden from the Unseelie who wished to destroy her in order to prevent a prophecy from coming true.

This was a short novella so it is very fast paced with little to no details into the understanding of the Seelie court. it jumps ahead in one characters view and then back tracks itself in the other persons view so that we get the completed both sides of the storyline. While I liked this aspect, I do think it is wasted time on a small book that has so much information to give.

The ending where she is learning about her powers and how to use them during a coming war, feels so rushed. It does mention her sister a couple times, but when Alaia is learning of how she got the the human world, there is no mention of her sister there. That little piece of missing information has me wanting to find out answers.. Even the prophecy names them as sisters (in the next book..) but it is not explained in either book.

This is the first book of this series, told in dual third person POV and leaves you on a HFN ending. I need more. I’m usually not a fan of a story told in third person pov, but this one actually kept my attention and has me captivated from the beginning.

I loved that Mattias was a grump in the beginning and Alaia was clueless as to why she found him appealing to her. I love the adventure they went on and the discoveries they made along the way. I was excited to read about Alaia overcoming her fear and learning more about herself and the world she was in.

I can’t wait to keep reading and see what is in store for them and how her sister fits into it all.

A Touch of Prophesy was a very quick read, given the fact that it's a novella, that's no surprise. The relationship progression of Alaia and Mattias was cute, and I enjoyed seeing it unravel. I loved the premise of the book, and because I loved it so much, I do wish that the book was longer so it could further delve into the world and characters created on the page. The climax held my attention, but it was over very quickly, yet another aspect that could have really benefited from a bigger word count. All in all, I did enjoy it, and I would recommend it if you are looking for a quick read set in a fantasy world.

Lyssa did a great job in getting us set up for her duet series of A Shadow of Dark and Light.

She managed to really pack a punch into such a small package...an accident, a curse, a deal, a prophet, a prophesy, a bond and a war. The world building is good and exciting, but a little confusing at times. If one is still confused about certain things, reading The Dark King's Heart helps clear things up.

I am left with a few questions after having read The Dark King's Heart first. Now I HAVE to see if they will be answered in The Slyvan Wilds.

The title of the story leads you to believe Alaia is something more than just a human. With that said, Alaia found herself tossed into a crazy situation. Her resilience made her a very strong and well written character. There were a lot of twists and surprises probably none bigger than her willingness to make a deal to save Mathias. He was a little rigid at first but gradually grew to trust and accept her. This was a good start to the series and it will be interesting to see other Guardians get their story and watch this couple continue to grow.

This is a story I hardly could put away. A kind of classical fantasy love story, but not very predictable and therefore very intriguing. It is written in the style of an all knowing narrator but the chapters switch from focus to both main characters, Alaia and Mattias. Both main characters are very relatable, with minor faults but very sympathetic . There are quite a lot of developments, but the pace is never so fast that it gets confusing. The book is a stand alone but from the statement at the end of the book I understand that Alaia and Mattias will have more adventures. I will look forward to reading them

I received a free copy of this book from the author via her email list. I loved the writing in this book and the concepts but it felt rushed. As something marketed as a prequel, I expected more world-building. This felt more like a novella that should have been 50 pages longer. The promise of this book was amazing but the delivery was lacking in my opinion. I really love the style and what the world promises to be though and hope the dark King's heart lives up to the promises this book makes.

This is a fade-to-black romance with fae, mystery and war. It is cosy and has strong ACOTAR vibes

This story started out with a lot of promise, but several things held it back. For one, there were too many typos and wrong words - kept throwing me out. Second, there was not enough time and world-building to get to various milestones - the story was rushed and the human character accepted too-readily, didn't feel authentic. Third, there was no romance, just 'my mate' and then sex - could have been handled much better. And last, what happened to Wen? He would have added so much to the story but after a few pages, he was out.

A wonderfully mysterious story Alaia is a university professor and is attacked one night on her way to her car, luckily she is saved by Mattias a man who is dressed strangely. To keep her safe she is taken to the Fae realm where the guardian protects humanity. Since he is blamed he has the choice to erase her memory and send her back home or stay where she is now in the Fae realm. This is a great story with a fairy tale background and is definitely recommended.

This was a interested book to read. It had me jumping out of my skin and what to know what was about to happen next . It had me in suspense and very much a page turner. And it was a action packed story line. It was scary with a little hunting energy and many twisted to it . I just love the wonderful characters. It was realistic but unpredictable and whimisical tragic fantasy reality world. The ending was great and could not believed my eyes to see what just happen. You just have to read it for yourself if they lived happily ever after or not.

A Touch Of Prophesy by Lyssa Lund is an amazing well written book. Usually I don't read from a third point of view and I find sometimes it lacks emotion, this book is completely different. It invokes emotion and it was easy to read too. The author (Lyssa) is great at describing characters and scenery. I could imagine everything Lyssa described in this book. I loved it but I do wish that the end of the book was longer, the ending felt a little rushed but other than that it was truly an amazing book to read.

What would you do if it happened to you?

A teacher, enroute to her car, was waylaid by creatures from another existence. She couldn't escape on her own, but she got help from someone armed with a sword. That was the beginning of a new life filled with danger and magic. She was given a choice, to stay ... or to forget. What would you choose? Life in a magical world or a mundane existence as a school teacher? I know what I'd do, I'd stay, but that's me. Don't answer yet - read about the magical world before you choose.

This novella was well balanced. There was just enough world building to get a good feel for the environment and atmosphere. The characters were well developed, however the romance between the MC’s felt rushed and like an afterthought, a longer story would have be great for the romance to develop naturally, rather than BOOM we’re in love.

This novella would have been a 5* read if not for the fated mates aspect.

Alaia is brutally introduced to the world of the Fae. Her journey to recovery occurs after this attack but in Fayden. She wants nothing more than to return to her life before, but that is not to be. Her recovery requires healing plants and the search takes her to the Unseelie for which she was not prepared. She discovers that she also has magic abilities and these will be necessary to her survival.

The author has brought a slightly different twist to the "late in life" discovery that she is more than she thought.

A Touch of Prophesy by Lyssa Lund is a Fae fantasy that will capture your imagination and set you free in another world. There is magic, romance, adventure, and conflict. This is not the usual type of book that I would read, but I have read other books by this author and I received a copy of the book through Bookfunnel, so I thought, why not. I always review every book that I read. It is a quick read and enjoyable. The plot and characters are well developed. If you enjoy Fae fantasy books, you will enjoy this one.

This was a really good book. I assume it was a short story?
This book could has the potential to be GREAT if it was beefed up with more build up and background for the characters. The ending was 100% rushed (maybe due to the fact it was a short story) and left unfinished... but it does sound like there are more books?
If you need a short read (took me maybe 2-3 hours, I didn't watch the clock) this is worth your time.

A nice quick read.

Lyssa Lund sets the scene well and you feel connected to the world that she has created.

Because the story is so short, it did feel a bit rushed, I would have liked a bit more detail, such as why Alaia's training just works perfectly or a bit more background on Alaia's parentage.

Some of it is explained in the bonus chapter of the next book from Alaia's sister's point of view, which definitely makes you want to continue reading the story to find out more.

A Touch of Prophesy is a novella prequel to the Shadows of Darkness and Light series. It introduces Alaia and Mattias and explains Alaia's entry into the fae world, providing information not included in the actual series. Wonderful world building. Lyssa Lund adds a great deal to these characters which play a major role in later books. An enjoyable, quick read.

I received this book free of charge from Voracious Readers in exchange for my honest review. This is a fast paced quick read romantic fantasy book. This book was well written and the concept was great I just think the author could have done so much more with it. I found that I especially felt this with the end war, it ended so very quick, it needed more to draw me in. The author has great promise and it will be interesting what she will do with this world in the future.
