I know that it is all about strategies to survive in this imaginative world. However, I still feel extremely sad when I have to accept the fact that violence is an important part of human nature.

read the whole thing as the webnovel online, so i cant say much to the single volume or the translation.. but ORV as a whole is a great story, packing great story telling, emotions and action!
(tho changing the word 'Dokkaebi' in the physical release is kinda dumb..)

Biased as hell bc I’m already a fan but this is one of my favorite early arcs so I had a great time. It’s hard to cut up web novels into physical books bc it’s not as standard in where a book should begin or end - ORV suffers from that too in the physical books; the beginning of this book just picks right up from the end of the last but if you can’t remember what happened then im sure it can be a struggle. The end of this book, however, had a perfect stop point.

Instead of just creating random characters, the choice to use figures readers would know (historical figures, mythical figures, etc), ORV educates its readers and increases the emotional investment. This strength shines greatly in this particular arc.

Some stories like this is boring bc the MC seems OP and what’s the point? But ORV does such a good job of making you feel like - yes dokja is OP but by his knowledge - but he can fail.

I will continue to be obsessed with these books forever. I just think Kim Dokja is a perfect main character. I love him so much. Overall this book was quite fun. We moved along a good bit in the story now that we have our main Dokja crew and main Joonghyuk (or however you want to romanize his name) crew so that allowed us to push the story forward a bit more. I did love that we finally got Han Sooyung in this book! I've been waiting for her to show up (I say like I haven't at least read the original first volume before). Overall an exciting read. I can't wait to keep following Dokja on all of his adventures until the very end.

Kim Dokja really is The Character of all times

this series really needs to be adapted into an anime, I want to see it have a one piece level adaptation, I just know the author had to have made an insane world map to keep track of all the characters and places and factions

despite the ever growing number of characters and twist, this book is astonishingly easy to follow. that could possibly be bc I read it in one sitting and didn't have an interval to forgot anyone lol

ONE OF MY FAVORITE ARCS KING OF KINGLESS WORLD IS HERE

blurry face kim dokja. funny as hell secretive plotter scoffing at the poor historical constellations and donating money just to show off. the action!!! the final scene is so good it gives me chills.

i think king of kingless world being kdj's first fable being a thesis of his character is so good. ah... this guy...

Review of advance copy received from Publishers Weekly
March 24, 2026
(I didn't actually get an ARC; the bookstore just accidentally put copies out early. I don't know why it says Publishers Weekly.)

Anyway, Kim Dokja is a scheming schemer who schemes, and I really, really enjoy that. I just wish the volume was longer.

I had to put this down for a little bit because I wasn't in the mood. Plus, for some reason I wasn't vibing with it. Though, after the first episode, I was completely sucked in! And we got some big reveals this installment 🤭

I think it’s still quite early in the whole story that everything still feels lukewarm for me. It’s actually a very easy reading but it’s hard for me to stay and read the whole thing. However, Dokja is still a very interesting character nevertheless. I need to reach the main part of the story soon.

taking a day off just to binge-read the 3rd volume? it feels illegal, but is so legal. also feels like a filler episode cuz there was little to no action involving my queens, Huiwon and Jihye, hopefully they get more attention in the volumes to come.
