They say when you die, your whole life plays over in your mind like a Hallmark movie. A rose-tinted reflection to remind you what a great life you’ve led.

But for me, that wasn’t the case.

There was no romantic, nostalgic ending for me.

All I had was pain, darkness, and despair on the day I died, dragged by fire into the depths of hell. That’s where I live now. A shadow of the man I used to be. A ghost living in my former life.

Life goes on, but not for me.

She burst into my world with her smiles and her sledgehammer, ready to smash down my walls. She thinks she can save me, but she won’t. I don’t want to be saved. But I’ll play along. After all, that’s all I have left now, a life of pretend and a world of lies, where I play the role they want me to play.

Zak Atwood.
Son.
Brother.
Friend.
But boyfriend?
That’s never going to happen.
How can I live that life when all I feel is dead inside?

Reckless Lies is book four in the Rebels of Sandland series. It can be read as a standalone, but reading the other books in the series is advised.
There are scenes of a sexual nature in this story, therefore it is intended for readers of 18+ years. Please take note of the trigger warnings listed at the beginning of this book.

She was like a gift from heaven destined to join me in hell, and I think hell suited her better, despite the sunshine she always radiated.

4.75/5⭐ - 4/5🌶️

This book stole my heart and held it hostage for all its 322 pages. This was a grumpy x sunshine story, where a girl with a radiant smile and starry eyes falls literally into the miserable, gruff man’s lap.

But Zak wasn’t merely a bad-tempered person· he was a survivor, that due to his suffering, had fallen into the dark oblivion of his agony, shoving away any joyous emotion, as well as his friends and family. Witnessing his journey of self-acceptance and healing was brilliant! Zak’s and his Little Miss Sunshine’s story captivated me from the beginning and kept me intrigued till the very end.

Little Miss Sunshine, aka Morgan, was more than amazing. She was incredible. I loved her entirely, all her sides, curved and jagged! In the beginning, I wasn’t sure about her· she let Zak treat her horribly but, as the plot unfolded and I realized that there was much more to her than a shiny smile, her attitude proved to be nothing but natural. She was fundamentally obsessed with Zak and made him the main focus of the book and yet she shined through everything, be it happiness, agony, or darkness.

Their relationship started as a strangers-with-benefits or a s*x pact and the temperature rose swiftly. Zak had an unexpectedly dirty mouth and his chemistry with Morgan was sizzling. This book was a perfect example of “she falls first but he falls harder” because once Zak accepted Morgan, there wasn’t going back.

The only reason I didn’t rate this book a solid 5-stars is because of the last chapter and the epilogue. They were a bit too sappy and cheesy for me.

I started reading about 5 years ago and during that whole time Pepper Winters has been my favorite author. No one has really come close to beating her as number 1. Until last year when I read my first Nikki J Summers book. These two authors have been neck and neck since then. I imagine they will be waring for the top spot for years to come and I cannot wait to read every book along the way.

Zak is probably the Sandland character we knew the least about in the previous books, he was just kinda in the background. But here he we really got to know him and what a man he was. Brandon will always be my number one Sandland guy but Zak overtook Ryan and Finn for second place. I would also say Morgan is my favorite female character in this series, and I really loved Emily.

Nikki J Summers proves what a strong writer she is, cause this book downright beautiful. A story of overcoming impossible obstacles and learning to love and accept one self. I felt everything Zak was going through and it was a pleasure to see him grow and learn that he was worth loving and deserved happiness.

And that whole scene towards the end had me on the edge of my seat. I couldn't read fast enough.

Of course Brandon once again steals the show in every scene he's in. I really enjoyed seeing Adam Noble as a father and husband too. It looked good on him.

I'm sad this series is over but it ended on such a high. Zak's final speech at the hospital was truly beautiful. I know I felt my heart swoon reading it.

I look forward to what Nikki J Summers writes next. I can't wait. Oh and this is her 7th consecutive 5 star book. Truly a record that will be hard to beat.

It seems I waited forever for this book, and now that it is here, I was afraid to read it and have the series end. Zak was my least favorite in this series, but now he is my favorite, and throughout this book, my heart breaks for him.

Reckless Lies is one of the author's spiciest books. Zak is a filthy man. Morgan, with confidence in her sexuality, is his perfect match; they will melt your Kindle.

An open letter to the author.

Are you okay after you wrote this? Seriously are you? Because throughout the book, I was crying, but at sixty-five percent, I was crying like a baby. It was not pretty. I was screaming no and wanted to through the book across the room.

My husband asked me what was wrong. When I told him, he said, “Over a book?” my response was not pretty. I don't need that negativity in my life.

I love how you wrote Morgan, and it was great to read and read her back story and struggles of her parents and past, and how she felt after what happened at the community center.

Zak is now my favorite of all your books. He went from player to victim to survivor. When that man falls, he falls deep. As much as he was a grumpy bastard, he shined with Morgan.

Sincerely,
A fan who hates to ugly cry. But now has a major book hangover.

P.S. Thanks for the wild ride. I wouldn't have it any other way

Seriously I didn't expect this book to be beautiful, healing, and raw with so many emotions.

Reckless Lies is the Best book in the series and, overall, my favorite book the author has written. Run, don’t walk to buy this book.

***4,5 "Little Miss Sunshine!!!" stars***

"The only person who can save you is yourself..."

I was waiting Zak's story for so long and now, that I finally got it, I am feeling kind of sad that this beautiful series came to an end!!!
Yes, I love the Soldiers of Anarchy too, but the Rebels of Sandland are holding a special place in my heart!!!
Oh my poor heart!!! This story wrecked me in good and bad ways...
My heart was breaking with this beautiful boy that lost everything, but I loved seeing a girl worthy to fight for him!!!
Morgan and Zak had stolen my heart and this story had ended with a spectacular way!!!!

"Why would a girl like her want someone like me?"

Five years ago, Zak's life changed overnight...
He wasn't the same man that he used to be... Now, he is living secluded and he is avoiding contact with everyone... His self loathing is in low levels and he is channeling all his bad feelings to pottering!!!
But when he is forced to attend his best friend's wedding, a girl is literally falling to his lap and from that moment, sunshine is creeping out through the cracks of the darkness that is surrounding him...
But can he really give himself to this girl with the sunshine in her eyes???
Or is it just an itch to scratch since he is prisoner of his head and his damaged body???

"I was toxic, and being near me right now wasn't a good idea for anyone."

I loved this couple so much!!!
Morgan was a forced to be reckoned with... That girl could bend everyone to her will with her persistence and admirable strength!!!
Zak wasn't an easy man to deal with, but Morgan's love had the ability to make him try...
Zak had an ugly past, and he had taken a big blow to his self esteem... This man had gone through the fire of hell, but what he couldn't understand was that he was strong and a fighter...
I love seeing his journey from the darkness to the light and all of that, thanks to a girl with an easy smile!!!

"You're playing a dangerous game."
"Aren't those the best games to play?"

I liked the plotline... I liked the connection between our two main characters...
If you think that in here, there was only sunshine, you are sorely mistaken....
Both of these people were broken in a different way...
Morgan had many secrets that could destroy them and Zak could go back into his old ways so easily...
But he was a very lucky man, cause he had strength and also, he had many people around him that were caring for him!!! Including, Morgan...

"You don't have to hide from me, ever. And I hope that one day you can share it with me... your story, your scars. They don't scare me..."

I love the Rebels of Sandlands... I love the ties that are bounding this crew...
I loved seeing them growing up...
Zak's story was heartbreaking and difficult to witness, but it was exactly as it was supposed to be...
Beautifully broken....
Morgan was THE girl for Zak and their story was very humanly beautiful!!!
Honestly, I can not recommend this series enough!!! Each story was intense and very beautiful!!!
These characters will stay with me for a very long time, that's the only sure thing!!!

"When you can't see the light, let me guide you through the darkness, for I have enough light to pave the way for both of us."

5 am after putting down one books I picked this up saying lemme start and then go to bed.
I should have known better because I couldn't put this down till I devoured it 👅.
I was addicted and hooked from the start to end. I felt every emotion in this book from Zak's pain, scars, feelings and emotions trauma. I love Morgan🔥.
God I Love this books. I felt every single chemistry and tension between Zak and Morgan and don't even get me started on the steamy scenes🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️. OMG this is a must read.
Zak wanted her even when he didn’t want her. I love her possessive he is of her.
This book made me realize even men have scars they want to hide from the world. Zak was left completely broken after the fire and Morgan was the spark he needed.
I love them so much ❤️.

I don’t think my review will do this book justice x

Zak has held my heart since book 1 and although I had to wait, he was so worth it!

This is a very emotional read, with some truths coming I didn’t see. But oh the journey they go on together and separately!

And the bond between the guys just got me swooning.

Those smexy times - HOT 🔥🔥🔥 love a dirty talking man who knows what he wants.

But for me the confidence they bring out of each other, the comfort they provide, the strength they give - just melts me in the best way

🌶️🌶️🌶️

It feels like we’ve been waiting for this book forever, but it definitely didn’t disappoint, and it gave us the best excuse to re-read the rest of the series again 🥰

They say when you die, your whole life plays over in your mind like a Hallmark movie. A rose-tinted reflection to remind you what a great life you’ve led.

But for me, that wasn’t the case.

At the end of book 3 something terrible happened to Zak that would change his life forever.

He never thought he’d get a HEA because he couldn’t even love himself but when someone unexpected comes into his life he begins to see things in a different light.

This story is about 2 people getting over past trauma and helping each other heal together.
(We don’t want to say too much about this book and give away spoilers. We also think we shouldn’t mention the females name and see if you worked it out without looking 😊)

Nikki chapter 25 was beautiful 😍
such a special moment between friends 🥺

100% recommend this series.

We are just so sad it’s over now.
The only thing that would have been nice was maybe an extended epilogue so we could see what happens with them further into the future but who knows maybe they’ll pop into the Soldiers of Anarchy series 🤞

Happy reading

I just don’t know where to start. It broke my heart hearing how broken Zak was. How he had locked himself away from friends and family, how he hated how he looked.

I loved Morgan’s personality, how she was so caring towards Zak.

The twists this book took were written so well and handled the subject matter you felt for both sides of the story. I cried so many times reading this book. Chapter 25, here for that kind of support all day. Great writing, right there!!

I was so exicted to receive an ARC for this book. I just finished 'Fractured Minds' and I thought I had to wait until 28 april!
I made the mistake to start late at night... I didn't want to put it down... I devoured this book! I was addicted and hooked from start to finish. I felt every emotion in this book: the pain, the heartache, the love, the spice, the friendship, the hate, the destruction, the depression, the desire...
I loved the 'take-action-attitude' from Morgan. And don't even get me started on the spicy scenes betweem them. This book had the kind spice like 'The soldiers of Anarchy' has.

Favourite quote
"Such a good girl," reaching around to pull my balled-up tie from her mouth.
"And you're such a bad boy," she whispered with a devilish grin, making me smile.
"Then I guess that makes us the perfect pair," I said, biting down gently on her shoulder.
"Two reckless, broken souls together."

I just missed a big ending of the series... but I think we will see that when 'The soldiers of Anarchy' will be finished.

Where do I begin… maybe by saying that this book is the perfect ending to a fabulous series. I devoured it, cried, felt every single emotion possible.
Zak’s story is so special, and it’s beautifully written.
It tugs at your heart strings, and once it starts there’s no stopping it.
I have loved all of the rebels, and I’m sad to see this series end, but the ending of their journeys is beautiful.
Amazing book, Nikki J Summers.

Grumpy/Sunshine✅
Best friends' sister✅
Scarred Male with body issues ✅
Persistent Female✅

Plot 5✨ (only because that is the highest, I can give but it's off the charts)
*Spice is left off on purpose, while the spice was amazing and Zak ticks off many tropes in the bedroom the plot was so good that the spice took the back seat for me at least. *

It feels like I've been waiting for Zak's book forever that I built it up so high in my mind, but Nikki had no trouble not only reaching it but blowing past all my expectations. I'm not going to sugar coat it you need all the tissues you can find but don't let that stop you from reading. This story is one of hope, strength, determination, love, and overcoming the obstacles life throws at you.

The way Zak's girl, (not spoiling that) tried effortlessly to pull him from the darkness that he surrounded himself with while battling her own demons was so amazing (that word doesn't describe it but it's all I got right now) Watching Zak go from seeing himself as a victim, someone that wasn't worthy of any love from her, his family or even his friends was heartbreaking but so satisfying at the same time.

Nikki is a master at keeping us guess trying to figure out all the little secrets and she delivered that even more so in this story. Seeing as this book is set five years into the future, I LOVED seeing the little sneak peaks into everyone's life, Rebels and Soldiers alike. My little heart who loves both groups of guys got everything it wanted out of this book and more.

While I'm so sad that this book is the end of the Rebels of Sandland, and I'm not crying while writing this you are, I'm so thankful to have been along for the ride with each of them. Their stories are the ones I turn to in dark times because they make me believe that there is light at the end of the tunnel, especially my poor scarred Zak.

When this releases run don't walk to read it, if you only take one of my recommendations, please let it be this one. You will never forgive yourself if you don't read it.

Nikki j summers is new author to me and this is my first book in the Rebels of Sandland series.

After so much high reviews ,about this book i decided to give her try ,and let me thel you ,I was not ready fоr Zack grumpynes.
This man is soo lonely, that I don't know how he live.
But the blame for this is because of the horrible event he get trough, and change his life in all the ways.
One day miracle happened, and Morgan litterly fall on his lap, and this day start the new beginning for him,no matter how hot headed he is.
Morgan is sweetheart, who is sunshine and trouble-free,but under this fasad she hide deep and painful feelings.
This couple together are definitely like Yn and Yang ☯️, but in the same time they fit perfectly.
I love what Nikki create with this two and definitely I will read more from this series.

I really enjoyed Zak’s story arc and was really invested in how his character grew from the beginning where he was in a dark place to where he could finally find peace. He had a long, lonely road to recovery at first but when he finally let Morgan in, the reader could see how much it changed him.

The twists were unexpected and as someone who reads a lot of books, I found myself intrigued to how it would all play out. I loved that the Soldiers of Anarchy were in involved at times too. It was great to find some insight into their lives over the past five years.

Zak and his friends have a strong bond and it was so important to see them show their support and stand by him even when he felt undeserving. I think as a reader this made the story feel real. Zak had a lot of difficulties that he had to overcome and it felt realistic. Nothing was instant and it was slow progress over months.

Overall it was a great ending to the series and I recommend reading it. It can be read as a stand-alone but I think it would be best enjoyed if you read the previous books in the series.

Reckless Lies by Nikki J Summers is a new adult romance and the fourth and final instalment in the Rebels of Sandland series. Each book can be read as a standalone, however the books are interconnected so I would highly recommend reading them in order.

I absolutely love Nikki's books! She does an amazing job pulling you into the story and making you feel the characters emotions. I really enjoyed the relationship that bloomed between Zak and Morgan. It was messy but you couldn't help but root for them. I loved getting both of their points of views throughout the story. It really brought the story to life.

I would recommend this book if you like new adult romances or contemporary romances.

Oh man, this is an intense read! We're back with the Rebels of Sandland to get Zak's story - and what a story it is!

Zak has closed himself off big time, isolated himself and is quite content to hide away in his cabin. That's it. Just him, his cabin and his workshop - and it made my heart hurt!
He's been through a horrific and traumatising experience, it's life-changing and pain-filled but he survived! Unfortunately that's not how he sees himself.

In comes Morgan, this quirky, sunny, smiley lass who seems to latch on to Zak. She's taken a liking to him and isn't taking no for an answer. I liked her, he definitely needs her light but there's secrets and sadness behind those smiles and when they eventually come to light, you'll not whether to despise or forgive....

A really good read, we get to catch up with the rest of the gang - I so love those guys and their girls.
It's intense, it's hot, super hot at times - oh man, Zak gets quite vocal 🥵 he definitely has a way with words 😏 The connection and chemistry between the two was spot on perfect, and it's emotional! Seriously, the last few chapters had me on edge with a lump in my throat!!

Thoroughly recommend but definitely recommend reading the other books in the series first.

Personally for me, this was an okay story albeit not as emotionally engaging as I was expecting. The execution was good but I couldn’t find a connection with the characters or involvement in the plot. I know Zak was a victim and while he acted like one to me it felt more like self commiseration. I wanted to feel his pain but his words and inner thoughts didn’t make me bleed nor partake into his plea.

I liked Morgan, her sunny disposition despite her past, her fight and willingness to redemption.

I can’t find anything wrong with the story per se but I personally couldn’t get into it.

I know I’m in the minority so I will probably reread and venture into this journey some other time and see if I can find that pull I was looking for but didn’t find.

Ugh how i loved this book so much. Zak going through his acceptance of his body after he got burned.

I’ll admit, Zak was never my favourite character, all through the books he came across as an a$$, selfish and a total player.
But the way Nikki wrote this book….. I’d forgotten and forgiven him his past discretions.
This character went through sooooo much, his fight to reach the top of his hill was just jaw dropping.

After a fire that left him fighting for his life Zak withdrew from the world. For five long years he thinks himself a monster and a burden to family and friends, he lives away from his “Rebels of Sandland” gang, he lives in shadows.
But his boys have never given up on him. They know the old Zak is under there somewhere, he just needs time.

A wedding is just the excuse they need, they badger Zak until he relents and agrees to the wedding.
Where he meets Morgan. She hits him like a bolt of lightning, but he’s not going to give her what she wants, oh no sir, it’s his way all the way….

Morgan for me was the perfect foil for Zak, bright and cheery to his dark and bitter. But Morgan also has issues that she’s trying hard to constantly work on.

Both need each other, both balance one another, but convincing Zak of that, yeah good luck. He’s happy to dominate and control Morgan in the bedroom (and man some of those scenes need to come with a glass of cold water) but he’s not boyfriend material, and he never will be….
But as I’ve said, Morgan won’t give up. She just keeps turning up, being there, lending Zak an ear…..

But there is always a twist in these books, and the twist came out of nowhere snd walloped me a good one. I didn’t not expect that!!!!

There are triggers in this book that will upset some people, please read the advisement before grabbing this book.

I personally loved it. I cried whilst reading it, I’m crying now as I write the final review in the “Rebels of Sandland” series.
It’s full of ups/downs/twists and turns. Plenty of laughter and banter, but it also shows the resilience, the determination that the soul has to rise out of the ashes and live once again in the light.

A highly recommended read. Grab the book, grab the series, then grab the spin off 😉 you really won’t be disappointed.

I mean I knew Zak’s story would be emotional but I was really not prepared for his devastating and beautiful it truly was. I do think reading Finn and Effy’s story will really help in understanding the severity of the fire and what happened to Zak. He had to battle through so much just to survive let alone try to thrive after everything so he stuck to himself and cut himself off from his family and friends and really the whole world. Well until he met his sunshine, Morgan.

Zak’s character development was on another level. We saw all of the emotions and stages of grief he lived through along the way. And after that bomb that was dropped on him, we saw him back at square one. He was so real and vulnerable at all turns in the story and in his relationship with Morgan. Morgan also suffered so much in her life that put them both on this collision course at full speed really. I do think that her character hid so much in the story (intentionally) that I had a hard time connecting to her fully. There were hints here and there but until it was all out there, you just kind of read her POV and scratch your head a bit. She was puzzling even through to the end too and maybe cause she had sooo much to unpack in general. I wish we had seen her journey a bit more too after all the secrets were in the open especially her engagement with the rest of the group too and her own mental battles.

I was shocked by the second wave of drama in the story and I really didn’t see that coming. We had met Isabelle or at least heard of her in the Soldiers books so far but I was thrown a bit by how she got involved in the plot and her moment in the epilogue was NOT where I thought her story would lead. There are just so many questions I have about why she was there and if she is going to pop up again in the remaining few Soldiers books. I’m so sad to see this series come to a close too but I really hope our Rebels make some guest appearances in the remaining Soldiers books or maybe even a next gen series with all the kids!

Fearless Dark Romance with so much heart

Hero/Heroine: Zak/ Morgan
Trope: grumpy x sunshine -sex pact - trauma
Rating: 5/5

DESCRIPTION
- As usual… AMAZING !! Another Dark Romance from an author who always delivers on steam and great storytelling.
- This is the last in the series and it ties previous storylines in a sexy, heartwarming bow.
- I read this as an ARC, because I’m a big fan, and I couldn’t wait. Opinions are my own.

THE GOOD
- As usual, compelling characters, great plotting and skilful writing. I loved this book and read it one go.
- This book touched me emotionally in a different way than the others. The feelings were more delicate, hearts more fragile, the brokenness sadder and the redemption more satisfying. It’s not often I cry at dark romance, but I did.
- Don’t get me wrong, it’s sexy as hell, but there’s more to it. I found myself yearning for the moments of emotional connection and vulnerability between the characters. These moments felt earned, beautiful and precious.
- Also, I loved how it shone a torch on the physical and emotional suffering of burns victims, and their journey to healing.
- What I love most about this author is she’s fearless. She never takes the easy route story-wise and she can stack those stakes sky-high. She’s not scared of being controversial and show that flawed people doing evil things can be blindly in love and deserve to be loved too.

THE NOT SO GOOD
- No spoilers. I felt Zak opening up and stepping out of his comfort zone was a bit sudden. But I was so happy it happened I’m not mad about it! 😁
- I also felt the separation was too long. It only took a few pages, but it bothered me how long one of the characters made the other wait before reuniting. I only minded though, because I was so invested. 😊

OVERALL THOUGHTS:
- The hot-so-hot page turner we came to expect from Nikki, with a daring exploration of pain and darkness, but with so much heart.

Reckless Lies by Nikki J. Summers is about a burnt soul rising from the ashes like a Phoenix. This emotional romance was all about healing and redemption of two broken hearts who became whole together.

Zak Atwoond survived a massive fire and that destroyed not only his body..his soul too. He left behind his friends..The rebels of Sandlands..and now stays in a remote cottage in Willowbrook. One of his friends is getting married and he is guilt tripped into attending. There he meets a sassy brunette who doesn't pay attention to his walls and they have something sinful. But it shocks him when he meets that brunette aka Morgan again..it appears that she is one of his friend's wife's half sister. Morgan has a proposal. To satisfy each other's lust without any strings. But soon she gets under his skin. And Morgan has her secrets too.

Zak had a reckless arrogant life before the accident. Now he considers himself as a shell of his former shelf. Anger and pain has ravaged him. Inside and out. He only sees the scar and he never really recovered from the depression. He has isolated and distanced himself from the people who really care for him and want to support him. But Morgan stubbornly burged into his dark life. She flipped the switch and filled his life with light. She didn't listen to his warnings or didn't back down when Zak tried to push her away with his demons. Slowly she revived the dead soul in his heart but..then everything came crashing down. The truth is Morgan has suffered through her own trauma and abuse. It Scarred her too. But she tried her best to overcome the pain and become the best version of herself. The version with compassion, love, forgiveness and kindness. The version with ability to love deeply and unconditionally. There was a time when she was full of heartbreak and helplessness and she didn't make the best decisions but she is continuously trying to redeem herself. Zak is her redemption. My heart aches for them. They suffered some darkest pain but together, with love, they found their happily ever after. It was spicy as h3ll as their chemistry was incredible and they sure have some filthy dirty ways in bed! I loved the way Zak's friends and extended family rallied for him.

*Stands up and applauds the Queen*

But this was expected, wasn't it? As soon as Nikki told us Zak Atwood was coming and it was 5 years down the line from the end of Fractured Minds, I just knew it was going to be beyond epic. We all waited for it, and it was worth every second because finally getting Zak's story and seeing his incredible HEA was a dream come true.

I was almost scared to start it. In a way it's the end of an era and I'll never be ready to say goodbye, although I'm sure it won't be the last we see of our beloved Renaissance Men as we still have some books left to come for the Soldiers of Anarchy. Zak's book was always going to be different to the rest, more emotional, more difficult to read, more heart felt, and needed to have closure and happiness.

For such a long time in this book, I was sad about the dynamic of the group. Zak, Ryan, Brandon, and my beloved Finn were so disjointed, and I was begging them to do more to help Zak and his demons. I've never read a trope where its the main guy who has body confidence issues and a struggling mental state, the impact this had to the story was heart wrenching and I refused to stop reading until we saw him complete and happy.

The revelation that threw curveballs to the blossoming relationship between Zak and Morgan was one I didn't see coming, and I audibly gasped when it happened. I hoped so much that Zak was able to find light and fight the good fight despite everything.

This was literally everything I dreamed it would be from his story and more. And as I've always said, I'll risk any chance I can get to see Finn Knowles and Adam Noble under the same roof. It's literally my every wet dream come to life 😂

Nikki has rounded off the Renaissance Men in such a beautiful way, and the closure I've got from this last book in their series made any sadness I felt totally worth it. A true masterpiece 👏🏻

"They thought they could bring me back. But I wasn’t a phoenix ready to rise from the ashes like a fucking fairy tale. I was a man, scarred and tainted. Broken."

Oh Zak you beautiful man.

I was hooked on this book the second I started reading it, and I couldn't put it down. It was so beautifully written, and the story was everything.

The things Zak had been through were absolutely heartbreaking, and they way Nikki portrayed this made me really feel like I was with Zak as he went through it

Morgan is such a good character. I loved how bright and cheerful she was even though she had also been through so much. She was the perfect person to bring Zak out of the darkness and into the light

"The girl with the sickly-sweet sunshine smile full of wicked promises had gotten under my skin more than I’d realised."

Zak had always been the playboy of the group, and with how dirty that mans mouth is, I can see why!! He could tie me up and do naughty things to me anytime he wants!!

“You are mine,” I ordered. “In this bed, under my control, you’ll do what I tell you.” I heard her give a contented sigh. “You’ll show me how fucking perfect you are, and you’ll please me. You’ll do everything you can to fucking please me. Then… if you’re a good girl, I’ll fuck you the way you need to be fucked and fill you full of my cum.”

I loved how open and accepting Zac and Morgan were with each other especially how Morgan always tried to make Zac understand how she saw him.
"You’re a kaleidoscope.” He frowned, so I explained myself further. “You have parts of you that are, in your words, broken, but when I look, all I see is something beautiful made from those parts. Parts that come together to create something better, something wonderful, unique. You.”

Insightful and heartbreaking….Ms Summers takes us on a difficult yet enlightening journey of recovery, acceptance and hope.

We all knew Zak Atwood’s story was going to be a tough read but I don’t think I was quite ready for how his happiness would unfold or how much soul searching he would have to do in order for him to find his forever person.
I’m not going to lie, his Sunshine tested me…I’m not going to tell you anything about their story. It’s for you to read and decide for yourself how you feel about it….and I urge you to do just that.

There are lots of twists and turns that had me questioning a lot of things but the overwhelming emotion I finished this story with was admiration. For the character of Zak and his journey as well as everyone else out their on a similar path to Zak. But also for the author….to be able to bring us a characters like Zak and Morgan, to provoke the reader to consider others or perhaps place themselves in their position for a brief time. Their everyday battles and challenges….then to be able to wrap it up in a hot and steamy story with characters we already know and love takes a lot of skill and understanding of the situation they are portraying.

I loved Zak….I’m coming around to Morgan 😊 and as for the rest of the guys and girls in this series I’ve enjoyed all their stories very much!…what a wonderful relationship these brothers have!
Brandon and Harper are still my favourite 😉

Ahhh!!
I can't tell you how excited i am to have read Zak's book!
From book one i was drawn to him, he was loud, charismatic, flirty and fun but this isn't the Zak that we have anymore. He no longer has the carefree side to him anymore and is deeply tortured by his injuries. It made him a grumpy recluse that wanted nothing to do with his old life, including his friends. Not that they got the memo.
To me it just gave him more of an edge, like an onion he now has so many layers to peel back before you see the side that Morgan gets. Honestly his story gets you in the feels but my god does he have a dirty mouth, i always hoped he would from his fun, flirty self but him being as grumpy as he is with a hot as sin mouth? SIGN. ME. UP 👏
Morgan, she was everything Zak didn't want. He wanted to be left alone and there she was popping up everywhere, from the moment she drops into his lap, to his work, to bringing him cupcakes 👀
But she has her own pain behind her eyes she's just better at hiding it behind this overly sunshine character but Zak see's it. Even when others didn't.
This was the perfect ending to the Rebels of Sandland guys but I'm glad they all got their HEA and their perfect matches.
Nikki J Summers smashed this out the park without a single doubt.

Where do I even begin. I’ve read the Soldiers of Anarchy series and loved it. But right now I’m literally kicking myself for not reading Rebels of Sandland series before now! Reckless Lies is the first book I’ve read from this series and I am blown away by how much I loved it. Nikki is a phenomenal writer who sucks you in with her writing and leaves you wanting more. I love how she writes her men, they’re not perfect, but they are. And how she wrote Zak made me instantly fall in love with him. I felt his pain and I loved watching him come back into the light and live again- all because of one very special girl- Morgan. His Angel. They both carried scars from their past, but when they found each other they found a life worth living for again. I loved how Zak was with her, how he slowly opened himself up and seeing how much Morgan was able to reach him and make him believe in himself was so special. He saw a monster and wanted to isolate himself from everyone, but all she saw was him. She didn’t see his scars. That’s beautiful. I loved these two together, they were absolutely perfect.
I can’t wait to see what Nikki brings us next! And now I’m excited and anxious to go back to book 1 and start this series from the beginning! This is a MUST READ!
