Darkness #3

Princes of Sin

Rate this book
Play dangerous games… win dangerous prizes.

It starts with revenge.
A decade ago, I embraced death–or so they believe.
It’s my life’s mission to make the Lords of Darkness pay for their actions.
A perfectly-timed opportunity propels me into the heart of the malevolent order that shattered my very existence.
From the smoldering ruins of the Lords of Darkness emerges the Princes of Sin: a secret brotherhood with fresh faces and dark desires—myself included.
I slither through the shadows–a viper biding its time to strike.
But the four other Princes of Sin soon become distractions, each with their own captivating mysteries.
Most importantly, I've overlooked a crucial truth: the Lords of Darkness are omniscient, and their retribution looms.
Never betray your brethren–and never never underestimate the power of the Lords.
I’m no longer looking for revenge.
I’m only looking to survive.

Princes of Sin is book three in a dark why choose romance series. It is a spin-off of the first two books, and the characters do overlap. Please note: this book is a standalone, but it is suggested you read it after the first two books in the series. Please proceed with caution and heed the trigger warnings. Your mental health matters.

A great mindless and smutty read with a decent plot. Would totally recommend it if you're into RH with MMF/MFM/MM and basically all of that in different other forms and more people lolz (I can't remember all the different variations at the moment😂). My only complaint with this book was the whole thing about Alex having a son that he hadn't seen for years because he was royalty. Like, it's giving ✨️deadbeat dad✨️ Also the whole thing about Astern/Lottie and her revenge seemed a bit lame because nothing really came out of it after about 40% of the book and it felt like it had been added just for fun🤷🏻‍♀️ Other than that, it was a great read if you're horny lmao. Make sure that your vibes are charged hahahshsjsjsjs😉

safety squad:
- no cheating/OW drama
- RH
- MM/MF/MMF/MFM/MMFM and much more😆
- secret society vibes
- breeding kink
- no condom
- BC tampering
- hidden identity
- revenge plot
- golden retriever but "I could kill you if I wanted to" H
- possessive Hs
- spinoff (set years later after the Lords duet) and recommended to be read after the first two books

“Our little pet is begging for it,” Lachlan murmurs, spreading my legs wider as he removes his finger. “I think we should make her beg harder.”

Hot damn, this book… 🥵 it was just everything! Lachlan, Otto, Max, Alex and Astern were the perfect combo. Each with their own singularities that came together perfectly. They all had demons and a dark past they were trying to escape, so when the chance to join the Lords of Darkness came, they all worked hard to be in (well, except Alex…). But, what they didn’t know was that being a part of the Lords would forever change their lives in a lot more ways than one.

Mystery, intrigue, a lotttttt of spice, plot twists, mm delicious scenes, dark why choose, page turner romance. Absolutely amazing! I loved every second of it and the hint of having more of these books in the future made me giddy and so happy!! I love this world and the characters so I can’t wait to see what comes next. Anyway, amazing story!!!

Tropes:
-Dark why choose
-Secret society
-Royals behaving badly
-Brothers…
-Morally grey
-Touch her and 💀

Princes of Sin is the much-anticipated sequel to the Darkness Duet. It can be read independently but I recommend reading them in order as the original characters crossover into this book.

The current Lords and Lady of Darkness are looking to pass on their legacy to some extremely ‘qualified’ candidates. This is no easy job interview though. It’s a matter of life and death every day for each candidate. The new Lords and Ladies must be skilled in every conceivable subject and defense to protect the world. The fact that they do this from the grey side of the law is overlooked (and greatly feared) by those in the know.

This story is rife with twist and turns, entanglements and intrigue. It starts out with an OMG and keeps you on the edge of your seat for the entire book. Did I read it in less than a day? Yes, I did.

The steam is top level. The characters are enthralling and beautifully written. I can’t say enough about the plot (actually this is where I hint that 9 or 10 more books would be ideal, right?) There is much I wish I could add to get you to read this book, but alas, spoilers. Do yourself a great service and read this book.

“If you want to be properly fucked, you come to me, little minx.”

I’m so fucking stoked that Amanda jumped back into the Lords and Lady of Darkness world with Princes of Sin. This book was short, spicy, and filled with intrigue and danger. It’s a fast-paced read with action from the start.

My heart belongs to Otto. That man could convince me to do very naughty things.

Very fast-burn and spicy; the opening scene between the characters ends in a foursome. There is MF, MM, and group play.

It can be read as a standalone, but for the best experience, I recommend reading the previous two books (Lords of Darkness and Lady of Darkness).

Audiobook Review
The audiobook is offered in duet-style narration by Shane East and Evelyn Rose, with both VO giving phenomenal performances of their characters. Shane East's voice is sinful, and he made EVERY growl, every dirty word, every pet name a toe-curling delight.

Genre: Dark Contemporary Romance
Tropes/Features: Secret society, morally grey MCs, naughty royals, brothers who share, pan and bi MMCs, MM awakening, touch her and die, group play, breeding, degradation
POV: Multiple 1st Person POV
Relationship Type: Why choose MMMFM, fast burn, very spicy
Book Type/Ending: Standalone with HEA (I would still recommend reading Lords of Darkness and Lady of Darkness first.
TW/CW: Very dark elements; find TW/CW on the author’s website.

I've been waiting a long time for the Princes.... And goodness they were worth the wait.

This is a follow on from Amanda's amazing Lords of Darkness Duet, which I ADORE! And although it's not their kids featured in the book, it's very much next generation vibes.

As you would expect with a next generation the original lords and lady of darkness feature pretty regularly in the book, so you really need to read the original duet first to understand what is happening and why it's happening. Although the duet is so much fun I would highly recommend you read it anyway.

I really enjoyed getting to know these characters and their quirks,  and loved the dynamic within the group.

I kind of wish this was a duet too because it feels like there is a lot of story that could be told and it ended quite quickly for me.... But that is just because I want to devour more of them and their backgrounds.  However, this book was written to wrap up the story rather than expand the world, which is does brilliantly.

I massively enjoyed this story and would highly recommend the entire series if your looking for some deliciously dark vibes with lots of RH spice

If you’ve read the duet prior to this book, as a reader you already know what to expect, if you have not, then be prepared to be pulled into a world for of action, steam, suspense and angst.

Because right from the beginning Amanda brings us a fast paced read filled with intrigue and danger, and introduces us to Lachlan, Otto, Max, Alex and Aster, characters that like to do very naughty things that would make any woman or man blush.

Each character has their own personality that makes them who they are, as their story unfolds, you can see how perfectly it all comes together. Despite their flaws and the dark pasts that they’re working to put behind them, there path to redemption allows them to be part of the Lords of Darkness, all working hard to achieve a common goal, yet when the true motives are revealed, all of their lives are forever changed, in more ways than one.

If you love a book with mystery, intrigue, secret society vibes, morally grey MMCs, naughty royals, brothers who share, LGBTIQA+ themes, touch her and alive vibes, group play, breeding, degradation, dark why choose, fast burn, oh so spicy scenes and very dark elements that will get your heart racing, run, do not walk to get to this book, because you will not be disappointed.

Highly recommend both the author and the book.

I received an ARC. Therefore, I am leaving a voluntary review.

Obsessed doesn't even begin to cover my feelings for this book. I had loved the Darkness Duet so when Amanda announced she was doing a spin-off, I couldn't have been more excited!

I really had no idea what to expect going in to this. When I first read the TW and blurb, I knew I would be in for a ride and I was not disappointed. These characters sunk their claws into me and aren't ever going to let go! The plot is interesting and keeps you on your toes, constantly trying to figure each character and their story out. And the smut is so spicy, you will definitely be highlighting whole sections to read over and over again.

Amanda truly writes why choose so well and this is one book you won't want to miss! 10/10 recommend!

I wish there were many more stories written in this world Amanda Richardson has created for us three books ago. Princes of Sin had everything I expected from a book to keep me suspended in a world where I get to experience an adventure full of twists, secrets and games, along with lots of passion and romance. Because of my attachment to the lords from previous duet, I was worried that I wouldn’t connect as deeply with the princes and I took my time picking up the book. But once I started, time flew and I was already wishing for more. Definitely a worthy read for dark romance fans like me.

Did I eat this up? Yep. Did I love it? Sort of. Pacing wise, excellent, and I was really pleased to be back in the Lords world at Blackwell, and I liked the characters well enough; however, I think this story needed to be fleshed out a little more, it’s a short book which I believe is what Amanda intended so there’s only so much fleshing out you can do in 250 pages but I think this book could have done with a little more of it.

I didn’t feel super connected to the characters in this one as much as I did in Lords and I really wanted a little more from the story such as Astern’s motivations for joining the order (we know why) but there wasn’t a huge amount of follow through and it fell a little flat for me. There were particular moments that I wanted more interaction with her and Harlow especially during their initiation evening.

I really did enjoy the character development from Lachlan though; and they all had enough differences in personality to not feel like clones of just one.

Spice as always was ✨immaculate✨ although I wanted a few more MM scenes, but overall impeccable spice.

I will of course continue with Princes when another is written, because despite my feelings for this book I love Amanda and her writing and I am hoping that this book is just setting up for something ✨extra✨.

(I still love you Amanda! 😂)

Thank you to Amanda for providing me with an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review

From Darkness to Sin

Great spin-off to the Lords of Darkness Duet. I enjoyed how the author interwoven the previous characters so the spin-off didn't feel like a completely new book, which helped me feel like I was watching Harlow's happily ever after unfold while simultaneously watching the Princes fall into place together.

Full of intrigue and drama and of course lots and lots of seggs, I can't wait to see where these characters go next.

This was a fun read that takes place years after the duet that comes before this book in the series. We get a new set of characters, a new group name, new threats and new group dynamics. It is a quick read and whilst it isn't necessary to read the prev duet, I would recommend doing so to fully understand the lore of this story

Whilst I enjoyed this story, it also felt like a poor imitation of the duet so I would not recommend reading them in direct succession like I did. Charlotte's (FMC) plan was never in a million years going to work - she most defo thought too highly of herself. It kinda feels like they’re playing dress up as the Lords of Darkness however, again, probably because I’ve read all 3 back to back. For a better reading experience I would say have a very hefty gap between the duet and this book so it feels more nostalgic. Like the story isn’t bad by any means, it’s fast paced and fun and they’re all hot together BUT it’s got nothing on the OGs (imo)

ARC review for 'Princes of Sin' by Amanda Richardson

The journey back into the world of the Lords was captivating and filled with new twists and turns. The decision to bring in new blood through tests and trials added an exciting element to the story. It was interesting to see the new Lords navigate their way through learning how to work and live together, ultimately becoming a family.

While the story started off as a revenge plot, it quickly evolved into a rite of passage for the new Lords. However, I found myself wanting more from the characters, particularly in terms of their motivations and interactions. I was especially intrigued by Astern's reasons for joining the order, but felt there could have been more exploration into this aspect of her character.

Despite my initial reservations, I will continue to follow the series and eagerly anticipate the next installment. Amanda's writing has always impressed me, and I have no doubt that this book is setting the stage for something even more extraordinary to come. Overall, a solid addition to the Lords series with the potential for even greater things to come.

When Amanda announced that she was writing a spin off of the darkness duet, i was pumped, and when the tile and the blurb were revealed i was twice as excited!

I loved ours lords and lady, and it was awesome that i got to see them in this book as well, especially Harlow who i had mixed feelings most of the times, but eventually that badass found a spot in my heart!

I loved Princes! The only reason i took off that quarter of a leaf is because 1. I needed more of the characters (probably if this was a duet we would have gotten more interaction and more development of the characters) 2. I needed more MM. while we had some it was not at the level i was expecting i’d say? There was a potential for much more hence i say that we could have had a second book (or an extended epilogue!

This book is fast paced (both spice and action wise). And while i adore Otto, i think Alex was the second best character, especially when he was trying to get out of the sticky situation! We get Amanda’s amazing humour woven throughout the book and there were parts where i was squealing and then parts where i was crying when the part of our Princes and Princess was unveiled.

Overall, this was yet another amazing book by Amanda (and honestly please write more about them! Or make them appear in your other books so we get to see more of them!)

This was a re-read for me, and if I loved the characters when I was reading about them, I absolutely fell in love with them and this is definitely thanks for Shane East and Evelyn Rose's narration. I was melting while listening and the humour that was interwoven into the book came to light even more!

And honestly after re-reading the book, I really need more of our princes and princess. We need more of them!

I loved the Lords of Darkness and the world Amanda created. Princes of Sin definitely did not disappoint!

I thought the story was done really well starting with a revenge plot and slowly evolving as FMC starting to train and interact more with her MMCs.

My favorite part of the story (aside from the spice) was each of the MC stepping in to take care of each other in different ways. They each felt different and there was no questioning who was who in situations.

I'll be sad if this is the end of the Lords/Princes world, but I definitely think it ended on a high note!

We're introduced to our new Lords and Ladies of Darkness in this spin-off/final entry of the series. The torch is being passed down to a new generation, with Harlow and the guys realising that the Lords can't be destroyed; their work is too important to let evil rule the world. They will however change the way the next line is chosen. Gone are the days of forced inheritance of the order, and prospects are now chosen for their skills and smarts. (Unless you're Alex, iykyk).

We get to see the original gang help the new "Princes" acclimate to their new lives; training, spying and advising them for their new roles.
It was bittersweet reading this one, knowing it's the end of this series. I still feel like there was enough world building that it could carry on with the new group (wink, wink, fingers crossed).
It could be that I was just that engrossed in this book but it did seem shorter than the rest, plus denial that it was the last entry in the series and I wanted it to last a lot longer.

The spice in this one is off the charts from the beginning, with a fated meeting between the new initiates the night before; all with the mindset of one last fling before their lives are thrown into chaos.
Interesting dynamics between the group, with mfm, mmf, mmfm and lots of other combos! Most of the men of the group are confident in their preferences and fluid with their choices in partners. Very spicy and hot!

Lots of action and unaliving as always; facing past fears, learning the ways of espionage and assassinations, weeding out their enemies and rivals; and of course touch her and d!e moments.

I loved the twins and how carefree they are, especially Otto the sweetheart. Alex was a nice fit for them in the end, not the douchebag royal he was portayed to be. Lachlan eventually came around in the end.
Lots of kinky good stuff in this one! The degradation is hot as hell and the mouths on these men... phew.
“Be a good girl and take my cock down your pretty, little throat.”
“You’ll make such a pretty, little spit roast.”
“She’s such a good, little slut. She can take it as hard as you’ll give it.”
Keep your partner or vibrator close for this one!

A great read and end to the series, although I really hope that's not the case, I need more!

I am thrilled to be back at Blackwell. I revisited the Lords of Darkness earlier this year on audiobook and it left me so ready for the next chapter in this universe. This is completely self contained although it does have appearances by Harlow and the Lords which give a little context if you haven't read the original duology.

This is a fantastic passing of the torch story from the POV of the new team. There are a couple of missions but this is really about the group gelling together, both during the handover from Harlow and the guys and as their own unit. They all have their own secrets and motivations for joining as well as having very unique backstories, some of which broke my heart. Otto is the total standout as he was so easy to connect with; I loved his humour and confidence. Sterling and his side eye also get an honourable mention - he's still my favourite Lord.

I loved the idea of a cuckoo in the nest and how the revenge plot unfolded - my only disappointment was that I wanted more of it but this is a very fast paced book and there is a lot covered within the two parts. It was screaming prequel to me and I definitely want to see what happens when the Princes branch out on their own.

My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read

My little black heart loved being back to Blackwell and into the world of the Lords and Lady of Darkness . I loved Princes of Sin but I have to warn you . Do not start reading in the evening or before bed . This is not a drill. Do not start reading it in the evening . This book is unputdownable and you'll end up reading all night or with your Kindle on your face. That last one hurt a bit. The story is fast paced and pulls you in from the start . You may heard that the current Lords are stepping down and are looking for their replacement and are interviewing candidates. Yea, you heard right. Don't bother applying. Because the new Lords are already on the team. And there are three actual princes, an ex convict and a lady who has a secret. You'll love Max and Otto, Alex and Lachlan , and Astern . And these are more than qualified for the job. All the guys are deliciously dark and swoony . And Astern is their perfect match . She's smart and sassy, a fighter and a survivor . The story starts with a bang , burning down all that you know. What is left is secrets, intrigues and so many twists and turns. But after the secrets are revealed all you have to do is save the world and stay alive. What started as revenge ended in found family and love . And the chemistry they have going on between them is scorching hot and there's so many possibilities.
If you love reading dark why choose romance do yourself a favor and read the entire series. The Spotify playlist is wonderful and the Pinterest board so inspiring.

Thanks to the author for the opportunity to read and review an early copy of this book and this is my honest review.

Princes of Sin

Yet again Amanda delivers a top tier secret organization why choose romance with some delicious men and a total baddie of an FMC. Astern has a lot of secrets but she can hold her own. She is a true survivor and this book is about so much more than the next group of Lords but also her personal journey past her revenge.

Each guy brings something different to the group. Lachlan is the broody way too serious leader and so much like Alaric it’s scary. He also is so resistant to the group relationship that is forming around him yet he is so drawn to them. Max is the other intense one in the bunch but isn’t broody, it’s more confidence I think.

Otto and Alex are the playful ones even if Otto has a little psycho under there too. Alex has had a rough go of it all as the disgraced prince but he also was in the wrong time and the wrong place which is how he joined the Princes. The whole journey for them all was such a wild ride. It was so great to see Harlow and her Lords again as they hand off their roles and I hope it’s not the last we see of the Princes and their Princess.

Amanda Richardson has outdone herself with "Princes of Sin," a book that defies expectations at every turn. As a spin-off of the beloved Darkness Duet, it carries the torch brilliantly, introducing us to new depths of intrigue and passion. This book is more than a story; it's an experience—a complex weave of desire, danger, and the kind of love that transcends the ordinary. The characters are not merely figures in a tale; they are living, breathing beings with whom you'll fall in love, cry, and laugh. The narrative is a masterpiece of suspense, with twists that will leave you breathless and craving more. And the romance? It's a why-choose journey that perfectly captures the essence of modern love. If you're looking for a book that combines thrilling action, deep emotional connections, and steamy encounters that burn up the pages, "Princes of Sin" is your next must-read. Amanda's writing shines brightest when it dares to explore the shadows, and this book is a dazzling display of her talent.

PRINCES OF SIN: AMANDA RICHARDSON

She is one of the very few authors I can consume one of her books in ONE sitting. Her writing style is fabulous? Her stories are binge worthy, and it helps that she’s an amazing talented human. She is a QUEEN of why choose.

The story starts out with absolute devastation and mayhem. Astern witnesses her parent’s brutal murder and nearly escaping death herself. 10 years later, she finds herself face to face with the men responsible, but they have no idea who she is. She is chosen to replace them in their secret society and they don’t know her number one goal is to destroy them… and then she meets four men who turn her world upside down, in more ways than one.

This why choose is so hot. MM, MF, MMFMM… the list goes on. I love the BDSM aspects and CHEFS KISS.

Saints & Sinnerz….

This book is the last in the series (so far). Fingers crossed that the author will deliver as she alluded to at the end & continue the series..This story centers around the Princes of Sin, Otto, Max (Danish royalty), Lachlan, & Alex & Charlotte (AKA Lottie). They’re the new crew that takes over for the Kings. They were culled from an elite few & had to prove their worthiness for, not only the title, but in deed as well, that they were capable of continuing the King’s way of life. This book was every bit as good & interesting as the original series. The only thing that anyone would be disappointed about in this book is that it ended. I just gotta know more! Plz! BTW, the spice factor is off the hook! This author actually went there! Someone cue “The Waiting” by Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers…

I loved the first duet, especially because it was so dark, and this was almost like a bonus content for us die hard lovers who have been around forever. Just a little snack to keep us going. This book wasn’t as good as the original duet but as still devourable and worth the read. It shouldn't be read as a stand alone and could’ve been a duet of its own. I kept waiting for more drama to happen but it was really more about closure for the original Lords and starting something new with a new group. Now, the group dynamics were great. I wish we got more group scenes and even more just slice of life scenes, I just wish we got more everything. I love a good RH and this doesn’t disappoint if you want to dive back into this world. I hope we get to see more of them throughout the next books that come out since I feel like there is so much more to their story to be told!

I enjoyed the story. I was happy that we got to read more about the lady and lords in this book. I did want to know more about the new characters I feel like I really didn’t connect with them as I did the others characters in the other two books. In my opinion I feel like you should read the other two books “lords of darkness”and “lady of darkness” so you can understand it more. I feel like if you read this book you just might not enjoyed it not know the life’s of the previous lords and lady and how they do what they do. This book was good writing plot was good I just wanted more from the characters but 🤞🤞🤞 fingers crossed we get more here soon cause I do want to know more about Lottie Alex max Otto Lachlan cause I was loving them.

This was a decent addition to the Lords series!

I adored seeing our first Lady & Lords and seeing how they interact with people they’re not set out to eradicate 😂

I absolutely looooved the whole branding scene. Alex was my favorite though, especially when he kept asking “do I have a choice?” 😂😂 and the spice was fantastic as it usually is with Amanda’s writing!

I will say I wish we had gotten deeper with everything. Our characters, the plot, what happens afterwards, etc. Most of our characters come together (🤪) quickly and it didn’t seem like they put much effort into their relationship like the previous Lady and Lords, where *someone* was literally trying to kill the others lmao.

And the hits just keep coming!! Amanda out did herself with this book!!!I loved everything about the Darkness Duet, but the Princes of Sin is on a whole different level. I was super excited to start this book and it did not disappoint. From the beginning I was completely sucked in and obsessed. The story line had me captivated and had me finishing this book in a matter of hours. These characters have me in a chokehold. Each guy brought something different to the group and Astern rounds it all out perfectly. She is one lucky girl. Their banter had me laughing and chemistry is definitely off the charts.

Oh man.. I LOVED this book. It’s a spin off of the Lords of Darkness series, basically next gen. Amanda kept the same dark energy in this story with some new elements too. I was obsessed with these characters and dare I say I loved them more? I still think of them . Each character had so much personality and their own quirks and a lot of depth. The character dynamics were so well done and they all fit together so well. Amanda writes spice sooo well, plenty of 🐱🦋.. IYKYK. This book has action, romance, spice, drama , secrets, betrayal, found family and so much more. It’s a standalone and I can’t recommend it enough! 👌

i’m so happy to be back in the world of the lords and lady of darkness! i can never get enough of the characters amanda richardson writes! i loved how this jumped into the next generation, as we get a glimpse of this plan in the last book. i LOVE the characters so much, they grew on me fairly quickly. their dynamic is top tier and so enjoyable to follow. also, THE ANGST!! the spice!! it’s just so good. i live for a dark past storyline, and each of the characters hold a past that they’re trying to escape from. it adds vitality to the plot and makes it a page-turner. i’m still not over the secret society vibe. i highly recommend to those who enjoy dark why choose romances!

i need more!!
