Sole Providers is a great intro to The Veil Saga. It’s short, but caught my interest. Story-wise it doesn’t have any connection to the first book in the series: Piercing the Veil, but this short "prologue", if you can call it that, gives you a short glimpse into what you can expect of Guglich’s first book in this series, a little bit of magic brought into our world. I’ve read Piercing the Veil, and I would recommend that as well. You don’t miss anything in the plot of the first book by not reading Sole Providers, but maybe it can help you make that decission to start The Veil Sga or not. Either way, I enjoyed reading this short story.
Reading Sole Providers: A Veil Saga Story felt like stepping into a world that was both familiar and breathtakingly new. Nebo’s journey gripped me from the start, not just because of the adventure but because of the heart at its core. The questions he wrestles with compassion versus tradition, truth versus belief made me pause and reflect on my own life. Steven A. Guglich has created a story that lingers, one that makes you think long after you’ve turned the last page. This is the kind of fantasy that doesn’t just entertain but speaks to the soul. I’ll be recommending it to friends and fellow readers who love stories that combine rich worldbuilding with meaningful themes.
This is a great little book that demonstrates how helping others, even those who are different from you, in some way, can have a huge impact on them and on you. I love how the book uses the characters' skills and puts them into action to make an impact.
There are subtle mentions of topics like empathy, autonomy, calculated risk, drive and determination to complete a project.
I recently had the pleasure of reading this delightful short story, and I can't help but give it a five-star review! From the very first page, I was instantly drawn in by the enchanting world of Nebo and Ibb. The writing is beautifully crafted, making it an absolute joy to read. As Nebo grapples with a life-changing decision, the themes of compassion and understanding shine through, leaving a lasting impression. I found myself fully immersed in their journey beyond the Veil, and I truly admired how the characters stood up to authority in the pursuit of what is right. This is a well-written gem that not only entertains but also encourages readers to question beliefs and embrace the complexities of humanity. If you're looking for a captivating read that you can finish in one sitting, I highly recommend this book! I can't wait to explore more from this talented author.

A Short Tale with a Big Heart. Sole Providers is a sweet, meaningful little tale that carries more heart than you’d expect in such a short read. Nebo and his friend Ibb wander into the forbidden human land, and what starts as a lighthearted mission to bring back a keepsake quickly turns into something much deeper. Instead of taking, they choose to give — helping a poor shoemaker and his wife who had sacrificed everything to help someone else. That act of kindness, paired with their courage to defy what they had been taught, makes this story both charming and thought-provoking. It’s a quick read but leaves a lasting impression, and a wonderful introduction to the Veil Saga.
Although only 25 pages long, this entertaining story is a retelling of the classic Elves and the Shoemaker fairy tale. Follow Ibb and Nebo as they venture beyond the veil to the land of the humans. Well written and engaging, this story acts as a taster to The Veil Saga. Having read this little gem, I shall endeavour to continue the tale as it relates to the novel The Veil saga. A good, if short read, this will cast the older readers back to the Penguin classic fairy tale books. To the younger readers I say give this a try, and I am sure you will enjoy.
This book was such a pleasant surprise! Nebo and Ibb's journey beyond the Veil is both exciting and deeply meaningful. I loved the way it challenged assumptions about humanity while keeping the story fast-paced and engaging. For such a short read, it packed a lot of heart. Perfect for anyone who enjoys thoughtful fantasy.
Cute and easy read. It’s about 20-25 pages and you can read it in under an hour. It’s a book about two elves, Nebo and Ibb leaving the comfort of Veil to explore the outside world. It’s a magical tale filled with themes of compassion, courage and the questioning of long-held beliefs. It makes a thought-provoking read for all ages. If you like elves, magic and fantasy themes, you’re sure to like this!
