The Cabin of the Tetons: A Frontier Wyoming Story

Amazon #1 Bestseller in Biographical Historical Fiction
Winner of the 2023 Global Book Awards Gold Medal for Westerns . . .

In 1899, the frontier is alive and well in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, breeding bitter land disputes, gun fights and outlaws. Despite this, Mitch decides to open his struggling cattle ranch to paying guests. What he does not expect is the motley group of visitors who arrive to experience the “Old West,” including delicate-appearing Eira.
Eira realizes she has lived a lonely, sheltered life, but so far has not found the courage to get out of her rut. She now finds herself in Jackson Hole, only to please her uncle, who has also filled her with glowing exaggerations about the area. Yet as she quickly unearths the challenging reality behind the deceptively beautiful place, lying adjacent to the Tetons, she also determines whether or not, she has the grit to ever expand her world. The Cabin of the Tetons is based on true events, during a tumultuous time in America, when hopes could become realities.

Action-packed—Something fresh out of the box.

The Cabin of the Tetons by Kari August is an exciting novel that explores one of my favorite themes, The Old West. In addition, there are also elements of love and self-awareness in this book, which makes it more exciting. It’s one book I love to call a complete story.
The story revolves around the life of the central character Eira. Eira is a typical example of a modern-day reserved woman who prefers to live an umbrella, life—a life out of the public eye and in her private space. That life wasn’t going well for her. Yet, finding the courage to move out and explore the world remains a problem. Then, to please her uncle, she decides to visit Jackson Hole. The beautiful stories her uncle told her of the place where one of the things that convinced her to visit Jackson Hole.
However, moving out of her shell to Jackson Hole, made an impact on her. She begins to contemplate the various options available for her to explore. While The Cabin of the Tetons is a work of fiction, the author employs various life events to give the book some depth and life. An excellent book with lots of potential.

The Cabin of the Tetons - A frontier Wyoming story by Kari August is a book that will grab your attention instantly.
This is the kind of story that hooks you immediately and holds yous attention until the end because it is based on true events. This is a book set in the historical backdrop of frontier Wyoming, in rugged and untamed landscapes of the Teton Mountains. It is about mitch and Eira. Mitch, decides to open a cattle ranch in one of the hardest times in the old west because of a land dispute, and Eira has lived a lonely and protected life living in Jackson Hole with her family discovering these new lands trying to find the courage to create her own path.
You will definitely love this book; you will feel the emotions of the characters. I loved how the author wrote this book and I cannot wait for the next book. This is 5/5 stars for me.

Headline: A refreshing tale of romance dipped in finding your place in the world.

Mitch and Eira's story plays out against the backdrop of Jackson Hole, near the Tetons Mountains.

The book is a story of romance-overcoming hardship-finding a family. I did like that this story shows the two develop into the couple Mitch and Eira ended up as. I didn't like that famous outlaws were hiding to escape the law. (sidebar: why don't you use your name?)

Another literary tool I liked was how he used Mitch's desire to own something, to create something, for him to feel that he was alive and mattered. That he didn't shame his parents after losing them at the age of fifteen and striking out on his own.

Truly-an enjoyable read for all ages.

A highly recommended book

“The Cabin of the Tetons: A Frontier Wyoming Story” is a period story based on real events that took place in the year 1899 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, next to the Tetons and tells the story of various characters such as Mitch, Eira and other very interesting characters who all seek some benefits of their own as in the the case of Mich who opens his ranch to host people but not everything is as calm and beautiful as he wants, or Eira, who discovers that life is not what she thought. It’s an easy-to-read book with a very interesting narrative. The writer seeks to mentally transport you to that time on each page. It is difficult to stop reading; I was totally engaged. It is a highly recommended book.

The Cabin of the Tetons by Kari August is historical novel that takes place in the Tetons Mountains in the end of the 19th century. The vivid description of the country landscape and the rancher´s life makes the reader feels into the Wild West. The book tells the story of Mitch, a farmer who decides to open his ranch to paying guests due to financial problems and Eira who travels to Wyoming to please her uncle. While getting into the story the reader can notice how the two main characters face their fears and go out of their comfort zone to open to a new life and to live a love story. You can’t miss this true touching novel!

The Cabin of the Tetons by August is one of those books which allows us to enjoy a captivating work of US historical fiction that skillfully weaves together a compelling narrative and rich historical details and characters.
The storyline is impeccable. Given the fact that it is based on true events, one of the book’s main strengths lies in the author’s meticulous research and attention to historical accuracy. Her commitment to portraying the sights, sounds, and America's struggles during tumultuous times is evident throughout. Every event here seemed to have been thought out in detail, and the author created an immersive experience that transports readers back in time. What a book!

“The Cabin of the Tetons” by Kari August is a Western with a difference. It blends historical fact with some typical Wild West tropes and paints a picture of life on the frontier in 1899. This Western takes a closer look at the lives of Mitch, a struggling ranch owner, and Eira, who is apparently out of place in this rough frontier town.

The prose moves the story along well without being too noticeable or ostentatious. I really like the blend of history, Western action story and romance in this novel. I definitely recommend this book to readers who enjoy intelligent Westerns and anyone wanting to try this genre for the first time.

The Cabin of the Tetons is a historical-love story fiction set in 1899 Wyoming. This is where we find our protagonist Mitch a rancher who is struggling to keep his ranch in a land filled with gunfights and outlaws. Here he meets a very timid looking lady named Eira and together they tell the story of the lives of the pioneering Americans. I loved how the author was able to transpose the readers back in the olden days through each page. It's an interesting and easy to read novel. The wild west is such an eventful and fascinating time in American History. The author has a great talent for telling stories and creating great characters. I would love to read more.

This great story takes place in a turbulent and complicated time in the United States, around the year 1900. Outlaws, appropriations and disputes were commonplace over border territories. A totally unthinkable life, for many today, but which was part of the country's history.
"The Cabin of the Tetons" is based on true events that were a very important part of the reality of the time.
The novel is very well written, with simple texts and very well structured paragraphs. I was pleased to read it and I enjoyed it to the fullest. I like fiction with real facts and this is exceptional, it also allows me to learn a little more about our history, which is not commonly known.

based on true events

“The Cabin of the Tetons” by Karl August is an intriguing frontier story taking place in Wyoming. It is based on true events in the history of the United States. 1899 is definitely a rough time for people trying to survive at the frontier. But the ones that really wanted to succeed could make it happen by working hard and being smart about it. Dreams could still come true back then. Eira moves into the ranch of Mitch where she comes to realize many things about the world, herself and where reality hits her hard.
This book is truly inspiring and very informative. I love books based on true events. They are my favorites!

“The Cabin of the Tetons: A Frontier Wyoming Story” written by Kari August is a historical fiction in which romance and adventure are on the surface. Life in Jackson Hole seems peaceful, but in reality, bitter land disputes are brewing. Not caring about this to Mitch, he decides to open his cattle ranch. Then he meets Eira, who realizes that she has lived a lonely and sheltered life, but until now has not found the courage to break out of her routine.
This story was based on real events, and that undoubtedly gives it a plus since it adds precision data. Another thing to highlight is the great skill of the author, who is a great storyteller.

Frontier living

Mitch is our main character, and the book follows him and his life in 1899 Wyoming. A little cabin is his home, and while life is hard, he enjoys it. He has two good friends, William and Moon, as well as a love interest in Eira. There is much back and forth with those two and plenty of secrets to go around. Read on to find out what happened at Ten Falls and whether Mitch and Eira end up together or apart.

an interesting read

The story was good, however I found the extreme detail about
Wales and some people rather overdone. The three stories within one were interesting in themselves, but again sometimes got in the way of the other by suddenly jumping in. It’s a good read all in all.

There was so much historical information in this book. I'll be in Jackson Hole this Summer and it will be interesting since I've learned so much. Hearing/reading the names of people in this story, that I'm familiar with, was a plus.

I’ve always loved books about the western frontier, and just loved this story so much I’ve just bought the two earlier one in the series. If there is a book to put a smile on your face this is the one.
