She is the chosen one. The leader of the Elders. Sounds like quite the party, right?

Becoming the last Silver in the Realm has some major drawbacks.

For one, Gabrian has been placed under house arrest for her own protection. Surrounded twenty-four-seven by big, bulky, not to mention drop-dead, gorgeous babysitters, on the ready to foil her plans.

Second, no chance of escaping to the Coffee Hound for a decent latte.

Thirdly, her lost love is healing somewhere in the Veil dimension, and no one, not even her Uncle Ty will tell her anything about how he is doing or if she’ll ever see him again.

And Last but not least, as she battles to prove herself as a leader, Gabrian must also come to terms with the Alakai beast that lingers within her—an ancient gift that may cost her the ultimate price for owning it.

A price collected even by those who love her most.

I absolutely adored the first 3 books in this series. The writing was superb, and I was taken to a world I could believe in. The characters were perfect, and the story was fascinating. I finished reading this book last night. I think the author was greatly affected by her auto accident, and it showed in this 4th book. The other books were about how the Universe gives you what you need, and most of the Realm were good people. Gabrian was kindhearted and believed in doing the right thing. She was in a good place in her life. I figured she’d free her father, and Orrorin would confess to being tricked by Adrinn in being involved in Gabrian’s parents deaths, and Gabrian would annihilate Adrinn, and she’d heal Shane, and everything would turn out fine in the end. But she opened Hell—the end! I have a feeling that the author felt that way; that life was good, and then BAM, she was put through Hell from a car accident. So, I get it, but since I like happily-ever-after stories, I was greatly disappointed. But I wish all good things to the author.
