Aria Aria thinks her life is over. She's been held captive for nearly a year along with several other women being told they would be sold at auction to the highest bidder. But suddenly, she's no longer in the box. She's in a hospital bed hooked up to too many machines with the most handsome and gentle doctor fussing over her. Surely she's dreaming because no one has ever cared for her like this. It pulls at a side of her she thought she'd gotten over. Tate Tate is pretty sure he's destined to be alone. Who would want to deal with a divorced, middle-aged workaholic who needs a special kind of relationship to be happy? When he comes upon the most angelic but terrified woman who needs his help, he does everything he can to gain her trust. Can he help her find peace? And more importantly, is she the special woman he's been hoping for all these years?

Aria goes to The Playground on Thursdays when it's free for Littles. She gets hurt and Tate stitches her leg up. He is immediately attracted but the age difference keeps him from going after her. When he sees her again, her car won't start so he offers her a ride home but when he sees where she lives, he invites her to his home for the night. Being a doctor, he also notices that she does not look healthy so he does an exam and blood work on her. He persuades her to stay while she heals after he receives her test results. Will she stay? Can they work out the age difference? Can they both see beyond their pasts?
I enjoyed this book. I liked Aria and Tate. I felt bad for Aria as she really had no one but herself. I understood Tate's hesitation because of being used. The two of them are so sweet together. Both are uncertain but determined to make it work. There are some missteps. I liked Tate's daughter, Valerie. Tate was so uncomfortable with their conversation.
I hate that this series is over unless Chase gets a story (hint, hint!) I enjoyed this series and look forward to the spin-off series with Declan.
3.4 stars. This was so sweet and I really liked these two together. My one gripe is that they never had a serious conversation about their thoughts and feelings and insecurities. Throughout the entire book both of them are thinking about all the shit they feel about themselves and how others perceive them, and it plays such a big part in their relationship and the problem they have in the book. But they never actually lay it all out to each other and work through it together. Which I remember being a gripe for me in other books in this series too.
Otherwise, I really liked it. That push and pull of Tate having serious doubts and concerns with the 30 something gap in their ages was a big part of why I think it works for them. Without that I’m not sure I’d be all that enthused about it.
🤷🏻♀️It was enjoyable and I really liked seeing characters from the other books in the series. And seeing Tate find his HEA was really satisfying.
This book was Reddit rec, and it definitely did not come with enough context. Ageplay is not my jam, *but* we don’t shame around here, so I decided early on that I would review this book objectively and not based on my distaste for the content.
Objectively? This is a bad book. This man is a *doctor* who is doing blood work in his house and getting the results *emailed* to him with a title like “URGENT BLOOD WORK READ NOW.” Also, why does he have a whole exam room in his house? Why is he performing medical procedures and running tests under the radar? That has to be illegal.
Also, What do you mean his daughter met his new girlfriend (who is one year older than her) ONE time and was like “she’s great! Also, we all share the same kink. We should all get kinky together sometime.” What?! No!
The divorce from realistic circumstances was so bad that I really struggled to suspend my disbelief with this one. If you’re into Ageplay, this one might really do it for you… but I exclaimed “THIS IS AN OBJECTIVELY BAD BOOK” at least thrice in reading this.

TW: bl**d, cuts, SA, food insecurity, housing insecurity, money insecurity
When I first saw this series was 11 books I thought no way there’s 11 brothers but having 2 “spin offs” makes more sense.
I was nervous about liking Tate’s story because I do not like diapers but the others were like warm ups and it helped tbh. Also it wasn’t what I imagined. Tate was warm and caring which wasn’t a surprise. I liked that the girls knew her and we got to see boys tease him.
Tropes: Cinderella, touch her and d!e(light), hurt/comfort
Spice: 🌶️ Steam: 🔥🔥 Sweetness: 💗💗💗 Cute Drs that are a little bit dense: 🧸
I thought I’d give it a go as I was intrigued by the blurb. I didn’t read the other books in this series and didn’t really know what it was about. Now I know and it was not for me.
1.5* Too much of an age gap for me. It’s not really a great romance either as he fights his feelings for nearly all the book!
I didn’t read this book before as I didn’t fancy it, and I didn’t enjoy it. It felt really weird, reading about a 58 year old man and a 24 year old virgin, who has no life experience, at all! She seemed so childlike even when she wasn’t in her ‘little’ space.
Aria is 24, and struggling with life, working at a scruffy diner where she hardly gets paid, her life is depressing. Her only jog in life is going to The Playground once a week, where she can relax and be a little. When she bumps into a man causing him to drop his glass, which breaks and a shard of glass cuts her leg. It must have been a massive shard as it needs a lot of stitches. Erm really? Tate is called into help her, with her gigantic wound, (🙄) and is instantly smitten with her. But as he’s so much older than she is, he fights his feelings pretty much all the way through the book!
This isn’t a romance! It’s a bit of sex, (Which felt really dirty for some reason.) and a lot of angst about whether she isn’t sophisticated enough for him, and whether he’s told for her. It drags on and on.
The DD/babygirl story was great! Tate is the 'present under the Christmas tree', that Aria has always dreamed of and deserved! He loves her just as she is, and the Daddy in him wants to shower her with all the love, attention, and affirmation she never had growing up with her terrible, horrible, self-centered parental units. And spoil her too!
The couple of cons I had were, that he was 58 years old (almost 60!), and she's just 24 (a year older than his daughter!). Almost old enough to be her grandfather! In 20 years she'll be in her mid 40's and he'll almost be in his 80's! She'll end up being his caregiver!
And the other con I had was, he seemed oblivious to her insecurities. ie: leaving her alone to her own devices for hours at a time, walking her through a nice restaurant in a babydoll dress, letting her see the typically exorbitant prices on the menu, and not realizing how she'd feel being introduced to her daughter as just his friend! I can't even imagine if he had to take her to a gathering of his contemporaries. Nope. If I were her I'd never go to one of those. Hopefully he'd know better. 3.5 stars.
Now I just have to find the anthology with Chase's DD/lg story. So sorry to see this series end. 😔
He's a fifty-eight year old drained-by-work ER doctor with an adult daughter and she's a twenty-four year old rather simple, unintelligent, uneducated virgin.
I just didn't find any of it plausible. For instance, I had a real rough time believing some predatory male hadn't finessed her out of her virginity already, given how isolated, needy and useless she was painted in the story. Oh, and that she had years of food and beverage serving experience and hadn't found a better job long before this in Seattle.
But most of all, I had a really tough time believing he would not become bored with such an uninteresting person once he was rested and his mind was working at full capacity again. (Because it was pretty clear his mind was not working at full capacity when he assured her she had the skills to be the secretary of a private medical practice because she could alphabetize children's books and put away toys!). She had no grit, no spunk, no charm, no talents, no skills, no interests, nothing; she was just a big teary-eyed nitwit.
So why two stars instead of one? Because the writing was technically competent, the storytelling was smooth, the characters were well-depicted and I can't say it was bad.
A little in desperate need of help and someone to care fore her and a doctor who has been taken advantage of so many times in the past is the setting for the newest story in the Daddies of the Shadows series. Aria is working herself sick to provide for herself. She has felt unwanted her whole life. Her body is wore down and exhausted just with trying to pay rent and she seldom has grocery money. Tate is an older doctor and women date him for his wealth and prestige, making it hard for him to trust. When they meet sparks instantly fly but Tate feels he is too old for Aria. Can these two trust each other enough to let their dynamic give them both what they have always longed for? This story is well written. It is so good! Once I began reading it was hard to put it down. The story flows well and has great character development. I enjoy the characters from the previous books in the series being in each new book. It gives you a feeling of being a part of this wonderful family. The story line is engaging and will tug at your heart strings for sure! This is a solid five star book!
Review: Tate. (Daddies Of The Shadows #10) By: Kate Oliver. Stars: 5/5⭐️. Spice: 3.9🌶️. ARC Copy.
Daddies of the Shadows is one of my top favorite DDLG series of all time, I know that I always say that when reviewing this series but it has to be said!
So for me Tate was bittersweet because this is the end of this beautiful series and I couldn’t have asked for a better ending than this. Each book in this series is a standalone story so you can start with whichever one you want to without spoilers.
Aria was so sweet! She thinks of herself as a Cinderella type because she’s always thought nobody wanted her in any type of way, so she’s been on her own since she’s been 18 years old. The only time she can let her guard down and just be herself is when she makes her weekly visits to the playground and that’s where Aria meets Tate.
I loved Tate all through this series and now that he has his own book! It was amazing Tate and Aria together was just perfection. Aria is everything Tate needed/wanted and vise versa.
When Aria gets hurt at the Club, one of the owners gets Tate to come check her out and help her. Since this series has begun, readers have been begging for Dr. Tate's story and Kate Oliver has graciously given us one. It's shorter than the other stories but is still one you won't be able to put down. Tate didn't think he would find another "Little" for him. He's older, has a grown daughter and is busy as a doctor. I loved Aria. She thinks he's a good Daddy but doesn't think anyone would like her enough to be her Daddy. Even though the story is a quick read, I enjoyed watching their relationship develop. From him helping her when she was hurt to him basically moving her into his place because of her situation. Tate isn't dark like the other Daddy's in this series but it was still so good. Loved getting to see Knox, Wolf and some of the other guys! I guess you could say this is a sweet story. And Tate's daughter? Well, she was a nice surprise!!
- an age play romance! instalove, hurt/comfort, instalove, age gap, daddy k!nk, praise k!nk! - hehehe i knew that was how they were going to meet - i did NOT like Tate leaving without saying goodbye to Aria, it made her cry 🥺 - at least he made up for it by visiting her at work, and gave her a FAT tip - when she was like ‘oh i should give it back’ i was like GIRL DON’T YOU DARE - hehehe he took her back to his McMansion - it’s not fair of Tate to keep saying he wants her to her face and then says he can’t because of his age!! - love that she’s standing up for herself tho - very good little scenes! - and great sex scenes!! - why did my heart break for her during the restaurant scene - bit of a dramatic third act twist! - his apology was quite good and i’m glad it got sorted so quickly - aw love that she got time with all the girls!! made my heart happy - i knew that’s how it was gonna go with Valerie 😂 - this was a v sweet novella for this series!!
Tate is the 10th story in Kate Oliver's Daddies of the Shadows series. This story is a result of reading fans begging for and convincing Kate Oliver that Tate deserved a book/story of his own. Throughout the previous 9 stories, Tate has appeared as the doctor on call to help all the Littles with their medical needs. Tate's medical expertise is called into play to treat Aria when she is hurt at the club. Both Tate and Aria have their own insecurities, with Aria feeling she isn't good enough for Tate and Tate feeling he is too old for her. The story is a warm example of growing support and eventually leads them to overcome their self-objections and allow their feelings for each other to stabilize and grow. Tate's story is another awesome contribution to the Daddies of the Shadows series.
I waited off on reading Tate’s book for several days. I knew that this was the last book in the series and I just wasn’t ready to let the daddies and their Littles go. I wish I wouldn’t have waited though, because this book was the perfect way to end the series. I will miss the Shadow daddies, but I’m so excited to read the next series Kate has for us. Tate has always had a special place in my heart since we were first introduced to him. I am so glad that he finally got his happy ending. He deserved it so much. Aria was the perfect little girl for the great doctor and I love how sweet she was. I do wish we could have seen more of the other girls in the series and maybe could have gotten some interaction between Aria and Tate’s daughter. Over all I am pleased with how the series ended. Now to wait for the next series to begin!
I’m not typically that much into a 20 to 30+ agree gap but this was done beautifully that I couldn’t even really tell that it was that large of an Age Gap. The storyline and characters were tasteful and on point for the type of story this was. There wasn’t much medical play(near to nil) which I was nice because that’s just not quite my k!nk(definitely not yucking anyone’s yum!) but of course, Kate managed a beautiful DDlg dynamic with some diaper added in. Kate does a wonderful job with the DDlg, age play, age gap dynamic and I am so sad to see this series come to an end. However I look forward to future DDlg Dynamic books and whatever else she has in store for us. I especially look forward to seeing how Chase’s story plays out! Another great story!!
Tate and Aria… a story with an age gap that was a bit too big for my taste.
Personally, I’m not a fan of huge age gaps—they always feel a bit off to me. That said, while on the shorter side, Tate’s story is still a decent read. Aria doesn’t have much going for herself and finds herself injured at a club. Tate is brought in to help her, and their story unfolds from there. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed because I’d been looking forward to Tate’s story, but this wasn’t quite what I’d hoped for. In my opinion, the age gap was just too wide, and I think the story could have been more enjoyable with a smaller gap between the characters. That said, I refuse to judge a book too harshly just because I don’t agree with certain aspects. I enjoyed the scenes and the incorporation of age play elements but wish the characters had been closer in age.
Aria has been struggling to make ends meet working as a waitress at the dinner. Her one joy is going to the Playground on Thursday when ladies and Littles get in free. On this occasion she accidentally bumps into Chase causing him to drop his glass and her getting cut on her leg. Luckily Tate was there trying to get over his hard day at the ER. There is instant attraction between the two of them but they both have their fears. Aria can’t believe that a silver fox like him would want someone as plain as her. Rate kept telling himself that he was too old for her and she wouldn’t want to be with an old man. It was fun reading how they conquered their fears.
Oh what a marvellous book of the family that is Daddies of the Shadows. Tate is an older Daddy, who works long hours in a hospital as a doctor and surgeon, Aria is a Little who is down on her luck and struggling with life in general. When these two meet through an accident on a free night for Littles at The Playground BDSM club, you can feel the emotions from them immediately. Kate Oliver delivers another great story, that weaves a spell so that you find yourself reading right till the end in one go. Sleep, what's sleep lol. I really enjoyed this slightly more gentle story from this series.
I just finished reading Tate by Kate Oliver and it was like the perfect dessert after an amazing meal (Daddies of the Shadows). Tate contained all the ingredients for a delicious book. It was parts fluffy (the littles scenes), parts rich and decadent (the sex scenes), and parts delicate (Aria’s and Tate’s insecurities). Continuing the dessert comparison, Tate was sinful and scrumptious, everything I wanted and needed for this character that I had grown to love in his appearances in the other books. With each book she writes, Kate Oliver gets better and better. I am so excited to see what comes next.
Absolutely perfect! I couldn’t wait for Tate’s story and it is everything and more that I hoped it would be. Tate has been one of my favorite characters in this series and I hoped he would get his own special little girl. So when he meets Aria, I just knew it had to be her. She is utterly perfect for him and he is the perfect Daddy for her. I enjoyed reading their journey into a DDLG relationship and fell even more in love with Tate. As for Aria, how can you not just want to be friends with her and want to hug her! She is so endearing. I devoured this story and didn’t want it to end. So, so good!!!
I was hoping for more from Tate. I was thinking the boys would rescue a girl and Tate would do his medical thing. But that's not why I'm withholding a star.
I'm withholding a star because of her spanking. Yes she was testing him but that is just superficial. She was testing his love. By enforcing the rules he was displaying positive proof that he cared about her and even if she was bad that he loves her. She should have been told if she needed him to prove his love he would do so. Just telling her she was testing him as noted in this book did not inform her that he loved her, just that he was committed to the dynamic.
I have enjoyed Tate through all of the Daddies of the Shadows series, and he's been, A constant source of comfort, and stability for the Littles, and the Daddies. I was very happy to read more about his personal history, and finally finding the p Little for him to lobe, and care for. Now I'm looking forward to the last brother getting his happy ending. I really love this series. I'm still a little put off by the diaper thing, but if they find this as a way of showing love, by the giving, and receiving this Treatment of hygiene, then it's okay for their relationship. Trish. A.
I'm not the biggest fan of DDLG, at least not the over-infantilizing babying parts; however, i dont yuck others' yums. That being said a couple of "good girls" will never go a miss as far as im concerned. What i do like about these books is the communication, care, and HEA. The Littles like turning their brains off and letting their Daddies take control of the thinking and he does everything in his power to keep her happy and healthy (be that by spanking, or diapering, or cuddling). I'm a sucker for a girlie pop finding her safe space and having the opportunity to communicate her needs and have their men be their safe spaces.
Love Dr. Tate and Aria they had such a sweet book. Aria had been through so much in her young life, and Tate felt he was too old for her. Age is just a number, though. Who doesn't love a silver fox? This book shouldn't be read as a stand-alone. We also meet Tates' daughter in this book. If everyone remembers her, the brothers saved her from a kidnapping yrs ago. I was so happy they got their HEA. Tate and Aria sure deserved it. Loved this story
I lived both Tate and Aria, their meet que was sooooo squee!
Not a fan of the mis/lack of communication that "moved" the story along. Also whole age gaps are ok, this amount is beyond my tastes (though I love that Aria spoke up for what she wanted and didn't let him think what he thought she should have wanted).
Overall it felt like it was missing something, like it really wasn't part of the series just adjacent. Not exactly a bad thing, just not what I was expecting.
I wanted to give this book 5 stars because most of this series was that good and I have waited for Tate to finally find his Little. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t that great. It seemed rushed at times, especially the last 20%, while other times it seemed to drag. Told from both POV, Aria’s thoughts were mostly centered on her past and not being a burden, while Tate was thinking about a future. Neither character had a lot of depth revealed in this book and I was disappointed it wasn’t...more.
Say it isn't so...... I want more..... Please give us more.... I want the rest of the littles to get married... I want to know what's going to happen next.... I love every single one of these books. Each were different. I love the age gap in this one and how he needed to show Aria and go slow with her. Very sweet. I would recommend this series to anyone who likes daddy books, hot men and some suspense. I can tell you this, you will feel all your emotions with this series.
This was a very entertai ingredient series to read, the individual essential of the characters and their unique personalities had me in stitches. The way they spoke in appropriate age like go and the off the cuff Comme ts so often make made it authentic, ms Katie balanced the couples and their lifestyles perfectly, plan on continuing with zdeclan series, My mom just passed recently and this read gave a lightness to my heart. Thank you. I really needed that,
