Maybe this isn’t the right genre for me because I was left with some seriously divided feelings about this book. I loved the second half with all of its mafia-like double-dealings and intrigue. The first half left me scratching my head wondering why did we need the book to start off so graphic? Couldn’t we have eased into it a tiny bit? Had even a smidgen of emotional connection before they get all hot and heavy? I can see how parts of those scenes set the stage for the relationship between Cara and Bane that’s to come, but that first half was a little too “out there” for me.

4 stars! WOW Ms Fields sure didn't waste no time getting straight into action 😯 sci-fi erotica with heavy BDSM elements. its a rather short book, managed to finish within a day. Recommended!!

Sara Fields is a new author to me although I have listened to several books by narrator Meghan Kelly.
Science Fiction is not a genre I often read or listen to. Manhandled was certainly dark, steamy and if BDSM Is something you enjoy (which I do) then this will be right up your alley.
I was able to listen to the story without any issues and the narration enhanced my enjoyment as Meghan Kelly brings the story to life.
Bane is definitely an Alpha who publicly humiliates Cara after rescuing her from a kidnapping attempt. However there is more to Bane than just domination and it is through his dominance that Cara learns her true nature.
There is suspense, drama, danger and D/s scenes that will reel you in and keep you invested.
Manhandled may test your boundaries but the writing is strong and you cannot help but be drawn in to the story Ms. Fields weaves.

I wanted to see if all the Sara Fields books were the same plot just different location/names. This added some public humiliation to the plot and wasn't as over the top ridiculous in the action. I liked it for what it's supposed to be. Thinly veiled pron with spanky, kinky, dubcon, stockholm syndrome (sorta of) that raises the temperature in the reading room.
I need to add that for those looking for realistic spanky, kinky, dubcon, won't really find this here. These woman are pretty brutally spanked (in some cases, caned, ect) and the only residual injury is usually a pink/red ass. No bruising, no bleeding, no first aid needed, no problem sitting or laying on their back and getting their "bottom holes" f*cked, (maybe slightly uncomfortable) and every orgasm after orgasm "tears her world apart" bigger than the one before and the one before that and the one before that and the one before that... you get the picture.

Cara Thrives By Being Manhandled
Cara who worked for the fearsome Intergalactic Coalition ends up on Dryac when a slaver spots her and tries to get her to work for him by abducting her. He is stopped by a big alien that's nearly 8 feet tall with pointy horns on his head. Bane saves Cara, but she strikes out with bravado and ends up being punished by Bane for trying to hurt him after his good deed of saving her. It begins with Cara being stripped and belted by Bane, but her continued fighting earns her more embarrassing punishments including public anal sex and more public displays of her nakedness and sexual debasement. The sex between Bane and Cara continues thru the story and gets even hotter and sexier as they both indulge in their passion and his dominance for her submission. There is some angst when the Intergalactic Coalition meets up with Bane and his Syndicate, but Cara comes through with her cleverness and strength. I enjoyed this story from the very start to the wonderful, HEA end.

I really liked this story and the BDSM sex scenes. The book is about half story and half, a very well written D/s relationship that grows into a satisfying HEA. This book definitely has the potential to be a reread for me, as it displays a more naturally developed, cultural and experience driven male dominate personality in Bane's character. Aliens do it better oft times in my book. I enjoyed Cara's character too. Her initial sexual naivete and her prior leadership within space crews would seem at odds with her fast evolution as a submissive (in a certain relationship only), but she apparently has simply been too busy for any prior relationships. Her character truly allows Bane's to shine as an outstanding alien alpha male.
The dark parts of the story are that the initial sex is dubcon/noncom, the sex includes much spanking and punishment; and, there is some fairly graphic violence. This alien abduction theme, as in other reads with similar males, works because it is a story of his luck in coming upon a partner who enjoys, or learns to, kinky sex.

Taken by her destiny
Sometimes I feel like I’m always behind the eight ball. This book has been out for a while and I’m left wondering how it managed to escape my notice for so long. The characters were fantastic, well except for the bad guy, but I am happy to report that he certainly got was coming to him and the loyalty he deserved. But this alpha male starts the story taking command and he doesn’t let it go until the very end. Okay, he doesn’t actually let it go then either, but I have no crystal ball to see beyond the last page. And his lady love, little troublemaker that she is, learns that she loves letting him be in charge. I enjoyed the heat, the story, and the HEA on this one and I can’t wait to read the next offering by this author.

Can a short read deliver on dark reader's delights and plot?? You may think not, but you'd be wrong. This has all the naughty comforts for your dark little heart, plus action and drama (a little dash of mayhem, too). SF is one of my go-to's in the dark and romance department and you don't want to miss out on this one. I don't want to ruin it, but I give you this -- one little human gets more than she bargains for when lands on a planet where she meets the big bad boss, who quickly puts her in place. What he takes, she soon realizes she gives. He quickly shows her what it means to be his.

This dark but very steamy sci-fi romance is not the first book I've read by this author but admittedly this is not my favorite of hers. It starts off with Cara being captured by first one alien and then very quickly "rescued" by another one. Of course when I say rescued, it doesn't necessarily mean rescued in the sense Cara was hoping for. Bane has a whole different concept of rescue that leads to some very steamy scenes in the public square that are not totally consensual, hence the title. So even though this was not my favorite, it was still an enjoyable dark sci-fi story that packed plenty of action into the plot as Cara and Bane worked towards their HEA.

Cara is on Dryac where she is almost abducted by a slaver, Bane steps in and rescues her. When she isn’t very nice to her rescuer and he decides to punish her. When she has been thoroughly punished Bane decides to hire her to work for him and plans to enjoy her whenever he pleases. Will Cara learn to submit to Bane or face further punishment? Fast-paced read with drama and off the charts steam. The characters are likable and this sci-fi read draws you in from beginning to end. I liked it.

A hot and quick read. This one left me needing a fan as I turned the pages. The second half of the story was great and it pulled the whole story together. Bane and Cara were perfect for each other but can they make it work between them?

The great plot was well written and the characters were so well developed that as I turned each page the chemistry between the characters kept me totally hooked until the very last page!

Quand j’ai lu le synopsis, en voyant s’écouler la continuité du temps, je me suis mise à rire et je me suis lancée dans la lecture de Manhandled de Sara Fields. Je ne m’attendais pas à lire ça.
Cette romance de science-fiction sombre mais très torride n’est pas le premier livre que je lis de Sara Fields, mais ce n’est certes pas mon préféré.
Lorsqu’il est combiné avec un scénario intéressant, je n’ai aucun problème majeur à le lire, mais pour moi, il doit améliorer un bon scénario plutôt que d’être l’objectif principal.
Ce que je n’ai pas aimé ici, c’est la longue durée des scènes de sexe, en particulier au début (presque 50%) ainsi qu’un consentement douteux, bien que ce soit un consentement évident ou non. Il y a un scénario de fond, mais jusqu’à la seconde moitié du livre, il est plus fortement axé sur la relation érotique entre Cara et Bane qu’une histoire réelle, cela s’améliore cependant en deuxième mi-temps, avec une action de type mafieux et j’ai définitivement préféré la seconde mi-temps. Cette partie de la section est ce qui la fait passer de l’érotisme purement explicite et dominant à une histoire réelle.
C’est une histoire courte bien écrite, que je suis sûr que quelqu’un qui aime lire ce niveau de scènes érotiques intenses appréciera.

Seriously, I should have made a list how often the author used the word shameful. At least 3 times a page in the first chapter. It was annoying. Especially since we want to be open minded, why was everything shameful to the h? Almost made me delete the book right away. It shouldn't be a shame to come, to be aroused etc. That's just wrong. Enjoying darker erotic stories shouldn't make the reader feel bad. It mirrors the stupid hypocritical way of how women are taught to handle sex and their needs and what they want. This is written by a woman. Why are you demeaning women's needs that way and propagating that women are playthings and men know better what we need and decide when to give it? Even if total exchange of control can be part of this fetish, partners should always respect each other, align and having save words etc. This was disappointing though it could be a good story if it got some brain and TLC.

Good book. From the very beginning the spicey scenes start. They were wicked. MMC is an extremely dominant male. Not caring who's around while disciplining his female.
FMC doesn't even know how she ended up over the knee of a huge, dominant male alien. And she was getting the spanking of her life. In front of an audience. She's always been a strong human female. And had a hard time submitting to the alien brute.

There's some bad female anatomy. The human heroine has that mysterious hymen that's somewhere up in the vaginal canal and not at the entrance where it's biologically supposed to be.

The first half of this book I really didn't enjoy because of the heavy Noncon and Dubcon in the entire first half of this book. The second half was better but due to the first half leaving a sour taste in my mouth I couldn't enjoy this book. If noncon/dubcon is something that doesn't bother you than you may enjoy this short read and you are the target audience for this. It just wasn't for me personally.
