Rowan Rossler serves up more sexy drama in The Challenger, a fiery sports romance of strokes and seduction where the only rule of play is when love meets its match, it’s game on.
There should be a rule: never, under any circumstances, flirt with a beautiful stranger in my therapist’s office. But Chavez Delgado is cute as hell. He also has complications written all over him. A volatile tennis prodigy once tipped to win majors, after his epic collapse on the tennis tour eight months ago, he has everything to prove. Even if it means clawing his way back up the rankings on the second-tier Challenger circuit.
I’ve met my share of hot messes. Call it collateral damage of being Flynn Dryden— motivational guru to struggling millennials. But I have never met anyone like Chavez. Young and yummy, he pushes all my right buttons. The trouble is, he’s not the only one with unresolved issues.
It’s safer to stay away from him, but the temptation is too hard to resist. So when Chavez asks me to join him on tour as his mental fitness coach, I say yes for all the wrong reasons. And now playing a game called love leaves us both in danger of being burned.

I liked this book when I jumped in blind. Flynn and Chavez shared a romance that was beautiful, messy, and relatable. Both full of heart and fears one jumps in head first while the other struggles to bring down their walls. Sports, speech, and love with sooo much more.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
I have really been enjoying The Hustlers trilogy by Rowan Rossler. In book one, we met Morgan and Vandana, and in The Challenger, we got to know Chavez and Flynn more. If there's any way to accurately describe this series, it's jet-setting, spicy romances with powerful men. I can't wait to see what the final book in this series will be about, yet I also don't want it to end!
There was so much I loved about The Challenger. Flynn is a motivational speaker. Chavez Delgado is a tennis pro who wants what he wants. And when he sees Flynn at the therapist's office, he does what he needs to do to have her. I typically really enjoy reverse age gap stories, and I thought that it was so well done in The Challenger. Things were spicy between them and the chemistry became undeniable. I really enjoyed reading their story!
I also really loved seeing them on the court together! The tennis scenes are my favorite. As a lover of tennis myself, I'm making it my mission to find all the novels with tennis in them because I just really can't get enough!
Another thing that Rowan Rossler did so well in this story was the character development. There were so many layers to both Chavez and Flynn. Both of them have secrets. Both of them have demons in their past. Both of them are flawed. But everything works so well together to give us this story!
I also enjoy this being part of a trilogy so much. I really enjoyed checking back in with Vandana in this story, and I can't wait to see what Vandana and Flynn continue to do when book three comes out! This is an interconnected trilogy, so all books can be read as standalones, but I suggest you absolutely read all three!
It's so easy to read a book and think "wow, this needs to be a movie" after finishing the last page. But if this series was turned into a movie or tv show, it could be absolutely incredible! With the friends jet setting all over the world, the scenery would be like none other and the spicy scenes would light up the screen for sure!
Okay so this fully exceeded my expectations. The first book in the series ended and I had wanted to know so much more about the characters; luckily it continued in this story.
So this book focuses on Flynn who is a motivational speaker and author whose life is a bit of a lie and is casually starting to fall apart. She wants to get out of the motivational speaker realm and start writing mysteries. Well, one day she meets Chavez at her therapists office. He is a tennis player who recently had to deal with some family issues and took a break from tennis. He’s trying to start back up and go pro but he needs a coach. Flynn agrees to help coach him and they instantly have sparks.
This book was so good. It had great character development, romance plots, as well as a regular storyline that kept you intrigued from start to finish. I was so in love with their chemistry from the get go and so excited to see what became of their happenstance meeting. I cannot wait until the third book comes out later this year as it’s sure to be another epic and beautiful love story.
Thank you to NetGalley and Free Form Productions for early access to reading this book!
This is my first reverse age gap book that I have read, but it certainly won’t be my last. I really enjoyed this book a lot. I like the author’s writing style and found it an easy read that flowed nicely. This book focuses on Chavez and Flynn, and the author’s character development is really on point. They both have so many layers to them. They’re both a bit broken from things on their past and they are still struggling with those demons and keeping secrets that they don’t think they can share. The tennis scenes were among my favourites, the narrative and descriptions were so good that I could visualise the scenes playing out in my mind. I found it easy to become invested in these characters and I was really rooting for them. I’m very much looking forward to reading the next book in the series. My thanks to the author and LoveBooksTours for gifting me this book. I’m leaving this review voluntarily.
The Challenger is a story about two people who are famous (within their fields), but have a lot of baggage and no capacity for love. Chavez is a pro tennis player who over the last year has gone downhill due to family issues, separating from his fiance, and issues with rage. While waiting for his therapist, he meets Flynn, a writer and motivational speaker. Both of these individuals are not in the place to add someone to their life but are unusually drawn to each other. The two of them are honest but shady about the hardships they are going through, but they are so attracted to each other that much of these feelings are ignored and sex and attraction are replaced as the fix-all. They are both trying to regain their lives, Chavez is trying to get back to tennis and Flynn is trying to start a new writing adventure. While all this is occurring, each of them are dealing with many other problems - Chavez has no coach and issues with his parents since the breakup - Flynn is trying to deal with a stalker that has been around for over a year. They decide to explore their feelings but in a messed up way - she becomes his coach for the amateur rounds of tennis and starts to travel around the world with him. This tour around the world brings them closer and closer together and each is finding puzzle pieces to becoming whole again. Flynn however is hiding a lot of information while Chavez is basically confessing his love. Flynn starts to realize that she loves him but doesn’t want him messed up in her history. Is there a way where the past can be healed and a future of happiness can prevail? This book was okay. I did enjoy the premise of the story, but I thought the author left some things to be desired. For example, the sexy, steamy attraction the two characters had you could tell was there but she left a lot to the imagination - I would have preferred to have it written right on the page. The chemistry between the characters was good but I didn’t really enjoy the characters themselves. I didn’t really find anything special about either of the characters. I do like how you could see Chavez become more and more vulnerable, but it was a little hard to believe in a 25-year-old kid with anger issues - I guess that development though was intriguing. Flynn was an everyday female who came across as educated, brave, and well-rounded but I felt she just took a back seat to female characters. However, I did like that the disagreement that climaxed in the book didn’t take over the entire thing - quick resolve, but believable.
The Challenger (The Hustlers Trilogy Book 2) by Rowan Rossler - Review by Jessica Stone
I've read sport romance before, a few football teen angst reads but this is my first adult professional sports read, and I'll say I was pleasantly surprised, this book did not disappoint!
Flynn, once a pro tennis player is now a motivational speaker, and an author who's at the top of her career, or so it seems from the outside, but even though she's been so successful Flynn has her own battles that still need to be fought, she just has to find the will and courage to do it. Hiding the fact that her life is seemingly falling apart has been easy, until one day a chance meeting at her therapist office puts her in the path of Chavez and that's where their story begins.
Chavez, has it all, a great career as a professional tennis player, the imagine, the looks, the charisma, but does he really? One day he just disappears without a word to his fans as to why. Unbeknownst to everyone Chavez is going through some rough family stuff, But now Chavez is ready to make a comeback, but to do that he's going to need some help, that's where Flynn comes in, he recruits her to be his coach and Immediately sparks fly between the two.
But with Flynn's life currently falling apart and Chavez family problems a not so distant past, you could have guessed that's not the end of this story. Can Flynn take control and finally have the life she wants and the freedom to write what she wants and let go of the pasta , and can Chavez start his career again and do what he loves or is it to late for both of them?
Goodness, I love themmm, I immediately fell in love with both of these charismatic characters, Flynn is a hot head Latino with a even hotter body and Flynn is a hard headed strong willed woman who won't take no crap. The banter between the two characters is wonderful, the relationship they build has so much tension it's palpable.
This book is the second on a trilogy, it can be read as a stand-alone but it does have characters from the previous novel in it as well as these characters making appearances in the following novel. I can't wait to read the other story's from this author!
The Challenger, The Hustlers Trilogy, Rowan Rossler, Review, Itsy Bitsy Book Bits, Sports, Romance, Jessica Stone, March 2023
I enjoy romance novels like the best of them, and add in a sexy sports athlete and you can feel temps rise. I did not immediately like Chavez. He is arrogant and very sure of himself in getting what he wants. It was hard to imagine the chemistry between Chavez and Flynn until the story delved deeper into their personal lives and you realize they both have monumental pasts that they are trying to escape or use to change their future.
Flynn is a successful author turned motivational guru. Past tennis star that due to unfortunate circumstances stopped playing the game and has never touched a racket since. Chavez is a talented tennis player that could never quite break the barrier into the world of the greats. So everyone is thrown for a loop when on his best season yet he leaves the game, turns out Chavez has some family issues to resolve. In a twist of fate, one in a million type things, they run into each other in their therapists office and sets something in motion that neither can explain. While Flynn isn't looking to get anywhere near the world of tennis or that close to Chavez for obvious reasons, he convinces her to become his motivational guru/tennis coach. As sparks fly and past truths get revealed can they ever find what they are truly looking for? Can Chavez rise to the top of his game and earn the respect he so much desires? Can Flynn break out of her shell and her past and get back to the writing she loves or will she be stuck in someone else’s idea of success?
This book is not only filled with romance and action but the storyline itself flows like a beautiful tapestry as you maneuver your way through their trials and tribulations. We all have a past and sometimes the hardest thing is to get past it. Get past the hurt, anger, and every other emotion so it doesn’t weigh you down and make reaching your future aspirations so challenging. This was definitely a great read with a lot of introspective moments for me about moving past what is in the past, and outrunning the expectations of others.
This was a pleasant surprise! I have to say I'm a huge fan of a sports romance and I've delved into a fair few in my time. This book however has so many layers to it that I felt like a romance, mystery, suspense and thriller at times!
Both of our main characters are complex. Flynn is living life well after the success of her self help book shot her into public favour, however her persona and her real life aren't even close to aligning. She's full of secrets , lies and sometimes bull💩 and each lie leaves you wondering what her story actually is about. Then she meets Chavez. Pro tennis player and charmer who worms his way right into her life and her heart. Chavez isn't without his demons either, with confidence and performance issues, he's trying to re-establish his career before it stalls. Their attraction is undeniable and before Flynn knows it, she's in Oz with Chavez acting as his coach and girlfriend whilst trying to break his mental barriers.
Things further develop though as more and more of Flynn's secrets start to come to light, some implicating the career and life of her beau and causing Flynn to do what she does best. Hide. However, sometimes there's just no hiding from reality and if she wants her happy ending, she's going to have to face things she hasn't done in over a decade.
A multi-faceted story with really complex characters. Both were frustrating to read at times but there's undeniable chemistry there and it makes for a great read. I also really enjoyed the tennis elements as it was written in a way that you felt you were watching the match happen, I could picture it so well that I was invested in the match!
I always love a surprise and this was defo is up there with the ones that I enjoyed more than I expected I would.
The Challenger was so much more than a sports romance. Was there tennis, yeah. However I feel like this was one of the subplots to the main story. The saying is “you can’t fix what isn’t broken.” Unfortunately the two main characters the author presents in this book are extremely broken. I don’t mean physically but mentally and emotionally. Which could be a trigger for someone looking for a book to read. I’ve read sports romances in the past, and I decided to read this one because of my husband. He’s a tennis lover, I was curious as to how this would differ from the baseball, hockey, and football ones. Well being those are team sports that's one way. Less of a support system, however I’m glad I read it. It was pretty good. Flynn and Chavez are two people who need to let things go, to move forward. The problem is they are both in therapy because they don’t know how. Their meeting was by chance, but continuing to communicate took effort. Neither one of them likes opening up. Neither one of them is that trusting of anyone. But for some reason they push each other in a way that brings them together. Flynn agrees to be Chavez’s tennis coach to help him rebuild career. What she does is help him discover who he wants to be. Unfortunately at the same time keeping who she is tight lipped. So the question is when does the other shoe drop? Things aren’t perfect but they are getting by, till it all comes crumbling down. Will they survive it? What about Chavez’s tennis career? Well to get those answers, I’d say it’s time to give this book a chance. I enjoy sports romances but this one has some darker undertones that are intriguing. In saying that, what are you waiting for? Enjoy!
The Challenger: A Sports Romance Saga is the second book in The Hustlers Trilogy by Rowan Rossler. It follows on from book one- The Cruiser, but this story’s focus is on a different couples’ romance- each book promises to be a standalone, but with interconnected details, elements, and a few recurring characters shared within the trilogy. Chavez was at the top of his game, making an impressive mark on the tennis world when he just up and disappeared off the scene. Flynn is a sought-after motivational speaker and professional coach who works wonders in her clients’ lives, but is weighed down by her own demons. When a chance meeting brings these two together, Chavez is making his comeback and decides he wants Flynn to be his coach and keep him on track--- focused and motivated. But soon the sparks are flying, and the ‘professional’ lines become blurred. There is as much ‘action’ off the courts, as there is on…. But both have their own personal demons to deal with, so when you add in a blemished reputation, secrets, emotions, an age gap, and unresolved issues between the two, it really makes for a great read… you won’t want to miss this book as Chavez and Flynn have quite the story to tell. This is a superb sports (tennis) romance, with a reverse age gap, opposites attract, interracial romance, chemistry, sparks, banter, intrigue, unresolved issues, suspense, angst, drama, forced proximity, taking a chance on love, overcoming challenges, and more. The characters were developed superbly, and the story not only had an intriguing plot, but it also sizzled off the pages…. the author definitely managed to weave an unputdownable read. Bring on Book #3!!! Happy reading…
Flynn Dryden is a successful author and public speaker, but she has a secret which has been causing her some anxiety and when she is in her therapist office and bumps into Chavez.
Chavez Delgado is a top athlete, but he has been having issues on the court. When he is kicked off the main ATP Cricut he starts to question his true self and can he get rid of the past that is haunting him and his game.
Once Chavez sees Flynn he instantly wants to get to know her so he puts a proposition for her to become his new Tennis Coach. Flynn has been around tennis all her life, being a child star but after a tragedy she had not picked up a racket since until Chavez walked into her world and changed everything.
Can Chavez prove he is the man for Flynn, Can Flynn put her insecurities aside and go after what she wants, and can they both resolve their pasts to be able to move into their future together.
This is the second book in this and can be read as a stand alone story, the story is well written and is a wonderful read. I loved the fiery nature of Chavez who had the grit and determination to just go after what he wanted with hungry and attack, with the passive, calming nature of Flynn balanced out the relationship. The weaving of the storylines for both of them were great to read and had you guessing and trying to uncover who the stalker was.
I loved the flow of the story and that you were drawn in as the story intense and that the subject matter was written with sensitivity and offered a loving blanket around the characters. My heart did feel for Flynn and the utter devastation her character had gone through but was happy that she overcame it and had a happily ever after. I can’t wait to read the next story in the series.
Not quite what I expected but a good read. The characters seem a little larger than life with the name and label dropping. I get that it describes the level of money and celebrity but not my thing.
Flynn has had some hard knocks in life. She found out accidentally that she was adopted. Her birth mother died months before locating her. Her tennis career ended in a white water rafting accident on a trip that she should have never been on that also left her then boyfriend in a wheelchair. There is more but that is just the highlights. When she meets Chavez, he makes her feel things that she has not felt in a very long time. But Flynn has never been good at relationships and finds self-sabotage works well as an exit.
Chavez has never had to stop proving things in his life. He has to continue to prove to the tennis world that he deserves to be where he is, on top. A couple of recent hits in his personal life has made keeping his famous temper under control a little more difficult. That is until he meets Flynn. Flynn seems to be the thing in life that helps him keep it all together. Now Chavez just has to find a way to not only not scare Flynn off but break through all the walls she has built around herself.
When all the secrets that Flynn has managed to keep from Chavez’s all-seeing eyes threaten to derail Chavez’s rebuilt career, Flynn must find a way to let him in and save his career. I want a man so dedicated to knowing, pleasing, supporting, protecting his woman as Chavez. I am all in on him. Although I may not understand all the labels, I understand his loyalty to familia and the woman he wants to be in his life forever. Their chemistry is palpable. Totally worth the read.
I am a lover of sports romance and this is my first sports romance that involved Tennis......and the continuation of The Hustlers Trilogy with book 2 was fabulous. I recommend reading this series in order as characters are folded into the story of Chavez and Flynn in book 2.
Chavez Delgado is a tennis player that has had his share of behavior that is volatile and just unpredictable with his past always haunting him in his head. Meeting a therapist to get through the rough edges of Chavez and his behavior he unexpectedly meeting Flynn...and the smooth talking Chavez comes out. Chavez is a bit relentless when trying to ask Flynn for her phone number...and she is not buying what he is selling...well at first....but when she finally gives him time to talk.. there is another side to Chavez that intrigues her.
Flynn Dryden is a popular motivational speaker/author....but her past haunts her dearly. Flynn puts on a brave face everyday trying to live by her own words that she has in her own books but the heavy walls that she has up at all times, the guilt she feels about her past, Chavez tries to break them down without even knowing the "whys" of her walls.
When Chavez asks Flynn to become his coach, to get him "out of his head" during his tennis matches not only is there some success but the sparks are fully ignited between Chavez and Flynn, With everything going so well .. what happens when lies are piling up and the past comes out to haunt both Chavez and Flynn? Will they be able to right the wrongs and move forward through their rocky past?
This is a fantastic sports romance, with a spicy reversed aged gap, drama and the love of tennis! Highly recommended and I cannot wait until book 3!!!
The Challenger is the second book in The Hustler Series by Rowan Rossler, and it’s a good addition to the series!
This book is Flynn’s to tell. Flynn is best friends with Vandana, the main character in book 1. Flynn meets Chavez, in of all places, their psychiatrist’s office. Their attraction crackles with chemistry, and Chavez, who proclaims that he doesn’t chase women, does finally wear Flynn down and convince her to go out with him. It doesn’t take too long for these two to fall for one another, even though he has a hard job ahead of him destroying the walls she has so carefully erected around her heart.
Rossler has created two complex characters who have been hurt badly in the past. Both have had much success in their lives despite the secrets they have. Flynn is a “motivational guru” but now she has a stalker threatening her. Chavez has been a champion tennis player. He has been nicknamed, “Talented Tornado” for his playing skills, but the past few months that name has been used to describe his demeanor off of the court. He left the sport while he was at the top, and no one knows why. So, like Flynn, he has secrets too. This was a book about how love can shed light on secrets and bring healing. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this couple mature and grow throughout the book.
The Challenger is a great description of what takes place within the pages of this book. This couple really does challenge each other. It is an age gap and age reverse novel. Honestly, I was just too invested in them as individuals and as a couple to even take much notice of it. Age gap novels don’t bother me anyway. If a book is good, like this one, I don’t care about issues such as an age gap.
The book is not only character-driven but also plot driven. If you like a good sports romance with some mystery intertwined, this one should be a sure winner for you!
This is the second book in The Hustlers Triology. The characters are really well written. You can't help but feel invested in their story and their romance. The author does an amazing job of giving us our character and then making them deep and realistic by evolving their backstories which make the people they are today all the more understandable and in ways relatable. This story is about Flynn and Chavez.
Flynn is a professional coach and motivational speaker. If only her life was as positive and good as the lives she's trying to create with her work. Chavez is a talented tennis player who has a reputation of having a hot temper. When a chance meeting throws them together there is no denying the attraction between them is electric. However they are both working through their demons. Chavez has left his career, just upped and disappeared so when he plans to return he asked Flynn to join him as his coach to keep him motivated and focuses. But how will that work out for them when their attraction becomes more and more intense. Will Flynn become even more of a distraction than a motivation? Will giving into their attraction spell trouble for Flynns already challenged mind? With both of them working through their pasts can they move forward in a positive way? This is a great read about romance, taking a chance, fighting for what you want along with secrets which need to be revealed.
Flynn is a motivational speaker returning from her book tour. Little do her fans know, there is a lot she is hiding from the world. A chance encounter with a hottie at her therapists's office changes the course of the future she was planning out. But, when the past catches up with her, will she be able to face it and be honest...or will she run...again.
Chavez left the game of tennis at the peak of his career. He is doing his best to hide the drama going on in his family. When he meets Flynn..there are sparks. When he asks her to be his new coach as he returns to tour, he believes they are laying the foundation for a solid future. But...a life built on lies is easily crumbled. As he opens up to Flynn...she can't seem to do the same. When the fight or flight response kicks in...will they fight for their relationship? Or is letting her run away the best for both of them?
I enjoyed these characters. They are both broken in their own ways and are trying to fix themselves. However, preaching honesty is the best policy and following that rule are two very different things. Flynn is hard-headed and strong-willed....but also scared and tired of the lies that seem to be compounding. Together these two are navigating a lot...an age-gap...two broken souls...a combustible connection that can be felt coming off the pages...a stalker...(the list goes on). It kept my attention from beginning to end. A good book!
The Challenger by Rowan Rossler is available now in eBook and Physical Book ⭐️⭐️⭐⭐ Book Review
“When love meets its match, its game on!”
The Challenger is the second installment of The Hustler’s Series. Although part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. This reverse age gap, sports romance is full of steam, spice, and suspense. When Chavez Delgado, a tennis prodigy, leaves a tennis tour unexpectedly his fans are heartbroken. Flynn Dryden, a motivational speaker, meets Chavez at just the right time and agrees to go on tour with him as his mental fitness coach. Sparks fly and the two of them have to decide if their unresolved issues can stay in the past. Will they both be able to overcome their challenges for a happily ever after?
Rowan Rossler aims to make the world a better place one love story at a time, adding a touch of spice to kick it up a notch. The Challenger will give you nothing less. Just when you think Flynn’s life couldn't fall apart any more another piece comes crumbling down. The family drama and insecurities within this novel are heartbreaking. Rossler will send you on an emotional roller coaster so don’t forget to grab the box of Kleenex for this one. The witty banter, tension, and chemistry between Flynn and Chavez stole my heart. I highly recommend reading The Challenger. I will definitely be on the lookout for other novels by this author.
Flynn is a former tennis player turned motivational speaker who recently returned from her book tour. She's a well-known speaker and writer, yet hides so much of her truth from the world. She's determined to not let her past catch up with her, even if it means ruining all that starts to go well in her life.
Chavez was at the peak of his tennis career when he abruptly left the circuit. He is hot-headed, extremely sure of himself, and doing all he can to cover his family drama. He aspires to reach the top of his game again too.
Sparks and tension are ablaze when Flynn and Chavez meet in their therapists' shared waiting room. Chavez wants more than a relationship with Flynn, he wants her to be his new tennis coach too. Flynn agrees, but her flight or fight response kicks in when old problems surface as things with Chavez get more intense.
I love Rowan Rossler's writing, so it was no surprise that I enjoyed these characters and the overall story. Between the age-gap (it's not as much of a gap as I anticipated) and everything else the characters have to navigate, it kept my attention from the very beginning. The Challenger is the second book in the series, but is easily read as a standalone. The first book, The Cruiser, is definitely worth reading if you want to fully understand the friendships and connections.
This started out great! Pulled me in to the story and the characters. As the book went along I was struggling to stay involved and focused. It picks back up near the end and finishes strong. It is a reverse age gap(which is only about 8yrs) and its also touted as a interracial couple. It is but not really and honestly it is very subtle as I am more Interested in each character individually more than what race they are. More importantly this also is full of secrets, lies and sensual tension. I liked that the character is in a sport we do not read about much in romance novels.
The characters are well done. I felt the emotions along with each main personality. Chavez frustrated me at times but I think that is the emotions of a professional player always in the “on” position.
There is a lot I liked about this one. His family, his job, her job and their connection are all interesting to me. The suspense and drama are also good. I also had that Awww factor going a couple times. I just struggled but it could have been my life right now. I would read another story by this author as I feel they stray away from the normal and give something a little different.
This book was amazing!!! It has everything you could possibly want in a book and then some. It has an intriguing story line that will keep you guessing about what is going to happen, what happened to who, and the best question is can they save each other. The characters of this book have suffered throughout their life. Being a professional athlete has it tolls and other things that happen in life all compound into the very best story. The chemistry between the main characters is amazing and the banter that the author indulges the reader on is spot on. It felt as though I was there listening to these people in real life. I did cry while reading this book so please make sure you are prepared. This book was so well written that every emotion the characters felt, I felt. This is the second book in the series but you can read this book as a stand alone and be completely fine. However, if you are like me you are going to want to read the first book because of the way this book made you feel.
The Challenger: A Sports Romance Saga by Rowan Rossler. This is a amazing love story. Its about Chavez who is a wonderful yet unpredictable professional tennis player. He is often in the papers for wins and his outburst. He has even just recently left in the middle of a tournament with no explanation. The public doesn't know that he is having major family problems and if Chavez can help it they wont. Enter Flynn who was at one time a wonderful professional tennis player but she is now a motivational speaker. On the outside Flynn has it all together fame, athletic, a successful author but on the inside her world is falling apart. When she is at her therapist office she runs into Chavez and at the time Chavez is ready to make a comeback and he thinks with Flynn's help he will be able to. What neither of them count on is the major attraction they have to one another. Will they both be able to let go of the past and work thru things to be able to have their relationship work out? Read this great emotional sports hot romance.
Welcome to Sports Romance at its finest. This is book 2 but it can be read as a standalone. This is Chavez and Flynn's story. Chavez is hot tempered and uncontrollable. His tennis skills could take him far. Flynn is a motivational speaker and coach. She is the exact opposite and seems to level Chavez out. When these two unlikely souls get together, there is as much action on the court as off the court. But both of them have their own secrets to get past. Will these two come together or will this pull them apart? This story took me by surprise. The author writes an amazing story leaving nothing out. The story is fast paced as well as well written. You can't help falling in love with the characters. Even though it looks like they have nothing in common, they find out just where they lead each other. This turned out to be an exciting story to read. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
This is an author that I have enjoyed reading from the first book. This is the second book in this series which I highly suggest reading the previous book as well. I enjoyed reading this book as much, if not more than the first. I found this book to be well written and easy to read. An entertaining story where the game of love could mean more than expected. A story where both characters have unresolved pasts and doing something wrong could just be the right thing. I enjoyed watching Flynn and Chavez grow throughout the story. Their chemistry is great and had me coming back for more. They are great characters that add so much to the story and are my favorites yet. I found their story to be fast paced and engaging. They pull you into their world from the start and keep you there until the end. You don’t want to miss what fate has in store for these two. I highly recommend this book and this author.
Rowan Rossler knows how to entertain the masses! I loved the first in this series, The Cruiser, and this one didn’t disappoint either. In fact, I may have enjoyed it even more than the first! Flynn feels like she is a hot mess (heavy on the mess) and she isn’t looking her best when she runs into someone she least expected. Chavez is a wild tennis player who is unpredictable, but full of seductive temptations. Even though they seem like complete opposites, the chemistry between Flynn and Chavez is undeniable. The Challenger is full of steamy scenes, tension, and plenty of emotions. When you think you know where it’s going, think again. I enjoyed this book so much and I read it in record time. I highly recommend picking it up if you love sports and romance. It can be read as a standalone, but you’ll go running for the first one either way! I can’t wait to see what this author has in store for us next.
This book was so different from the 1st, that I almost entirely forgot it was a series. Rowan does an incredible job of detailing the nuances of the world her characters are part of, and you actually learn a lot of profession culture within the pages. The characters are complex, layered with well developed back stories, and realistic expectations. Each book has it's own world that weaves in and out of the others seamlessly. The romance is steamy, the buildup is frustrating, and ultimately a HEA. I cannot wait for the third book in this series. This book deals with a romance in the world of international tennis, the characters are diverse, and the book sprinkles in a good amount of spanglish for the reader. It makes you feel like you know Flynn and Chavez personally and have a front row seat to what they get up to. Masterful work!
Flynn once a pro tennis player is now a successful author and motivational speaker who has always been on her own. The only thing she has really given up on was tennis. When tennis didn’t work out Flynn turned to write about her life. When she has a run-in with a smooth-talking playboy her life just might turn her life upside down. Chavez Delgado is a pro tennis player with reckless anger issues. Chavez is at the top of his game when he must put his family first and put down the racket. At a by-chance meeting, they run into each other in their therapist's office and set something in motion that neither can explain. Something that neither of them could imagine. This is the second book I have read by this author and just like the first, she did not disappoint with this second book. I can’t wait to see what else this author releases.
Thanks to @lovebookstours for my place on the tour.
Contemporary sports romance with age difference trope.
Chavez was a top tennis prodigy who after quitting a tour is now planning a comeback. After a random meeting with Flynn she agrees to become his coach but for all the wrong reasons. Will their decisions end up with them getting burnt?
This was the 2nd in the series but I didn't feel I'd missed anything by not reading the 1st. I really liked both Chavez & Flynn & was rooting for them both. Their attraction to each other was immense!
I was really interested in this novel because I follow professional tennis and play recreationally, myself. But I found out Rossler is a romance writer, and there's more than enough of that in this novel. Plus, many sex scenes that border on pornography. Her writing, however, is imaginative and the prose shines. Flynn is a motivational writer, living in LA. Single, she's dated lots of men but never got close to someone. And a stalker has her in his sights, sending harassing texts. She doesn't know how he got her phone number. Flynn meets Chavez in her psychiatrists office, and they strike up a dating game. He's a professional tennis player, confident and handsome and charming. Chavez sweeps Flynn off her feet. There's some hokey lines and a good deal of sentimentality to Rossler's writing. But if you're into sports romance novels, this is for you.
This is the second book in this incredible trilogy, and this is Chavez and Flynn’s journey. Chavez is an unpredictable and volatile tennis prodigy, who disappeared without a word. Flynn is a motivational speaker and author who wants to move on to writing mysteries. When Chavez is back and needs a new motivational coach, Flynn agrees to help him, and the sparks fly between them. Both characters are haunted by demons, and the chemistry between them is off the charts and undeniable. This is a well written story which has suspense, secrets, humor, witty banter, an age gap, and is an entertaining and spicy sports romance. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Thank you to the author for a copy of this book for an honest review!******
This is a story between Chavez and Flynn. Chavez is a younger man who is Latino. Flynn is an older woman who is not Latino. Chavez is 25 years old and a tennis player who is somewhat famous and Flynn is a famous motivational book writer in her 30's. Steam 3 out of 5! This book brought the steam. I did not relate with some of the sex scenes with the male preferences, however, as I do not have first-hand experience with that type of thing. I also enjoyed how they both go to Australia together after knowing each other for only a few days. This is very resonating with my own relationship, so I found it funny and perfect. I thought the ending is a fitting one for both characters.
