Me asombra lo rápido que se lee esta saga. Aunque sigue habiendo pruebas para graduarse y demás, aquí ha cobrado mucho más protagonismo la guerra que en libros anteriores. Se ha extendido ya a todo.
A mí me daba más pena de los animales que de las personas🙈. Eran tan originales y geniales que te dolía!❤️

De nuevo una prueba de que esta saga es una maravilla con mayúsculas.
De nuevo no voy a hacer reseña así muy extensa porque sé que muchísimas personas no se han leído esta saga porque es súper nueva así que no quiero hacer ningún tipo de spoiler aunque sí, al igual que la reseña anterior voy a decir algunas cosas rápidas.

🦓 Ya he dicho que me gusta el salseo pero me ha faltado más sobre I y V
En resumen me ha flipado de principio a fin y para nada se me ha hecho pesado.

(3,5⭐) Me hubiera gustado amarlo mucho más. Aun así, se nota la evolución, se nota el crecimiento. Si hay algo que me enamora con cada libro, es el vínculo entre Lasgol y Camu ❤️. También se desarrollan aspectos del mundo bastante interesantes de los cuales estoy deseando saber más, pero se me quedó a medio camino. Aún así, esta saga es un lugar seguro siempre.

I think this one was my favorite of the first three for several reasons. You can tell things are starting to finally fall into place so I think the next book will definitely have more purpose to it, fingers crossed. The magic and the northern wild ones were one of main things I loved about this book, the magical realism is still there (yay) but now there’s an added element of mystery and a promise of dragons.
I have however lost all hope that any of these books will have a proper sense of time and a legit plot line. So yeah, that kinda sucks but I’ll just have to deal with it.
I’m still waiting and watching these slow burns, one of which I’m very much invested in. But! the other one is now an actual thing despite the character being as oblivious as Harry Potter himself when it comes to love. So now there’s romance as a legit subplot now. There were some good angsty scenes that I enjoyed too and they fueled my inner fangirl.
The war that takes place in this one had very severe casualties and we actually get to see them. Cold hearted me cried once because of my poor baby 🥺 (trying not give any spoilers here) but I think the devastating loss of animal life was the thing that hurt me the most.
Lasgol. I’m rather neutral about Lasgol, he makes a good MC but he’s just like every other MC. I do think he’s going to have a lot of development over the next few books though so I’m looking forward to that.
Egil. Egil is my baby, Urvi is not allowed to touch him. I’m pretty sure he’s going to have an important role in the next book and I can’t wait to see it.
Ingrid. I still love Ingrid but she is being stubborn about all the wrong things right now. She needs to pick a side and figure out where her loyalties lie, I just hope she picks right.
Viggo. I love Viggo so much. He’s amazingly sarcastic but the trait I notice most is his loyalty, he may not like to show it but he cares for the others and I think if I had to pick one character I relate to the most it would probably be Viggo. I am fairly certain he joined the ranger’s because he killed someone though so maybe he’s not the best character to relate to lol.
Gerd. Gerd is so cute. The gentle giant who loves animals, it’s impossible to dislike him. He didn’t seem to have a very big part in this book though.
Nilsa. She still annoys me and I’m starting to think she always will. There’s really nothing more to say.
Astrid. I think I’d better add her since she’s probably gonna be an important side MC in the next one. I’m pretty sure I’ll like her although I don’t know enough about her to say whether I do or not now. She seems clever though so my guess is she got chosen for the school of Expertise, which would be awesome.
I do have a hard time thinking of them as 17 though since they still act the exact same as they did in the first book at 15. I’m convinced that one of them is going to die at some point in the series because 6 MCs all surviving through everything that happens to them for 15 books is too unrealistic to happen, even in a fantasy series.
After this book I am honestly surprised these books can pass as middle grade, they’re nowhere Rick Riordan’s “middle grade” books but I definitely think this one pushed the YA border. One reason being there were swear words, not many but I hadn’t expected them since the first two didn’t have anything worse than “hell” that I noticed. Another thing though was the mentions of rape and a few rather questionable mentions for a middle grade book that I personally found hilarious but my mother would most definitely not approve of. (one of those questionable mentions was a reason I love Viggo so much). But this one was actually in the YA category in addition to middle grade so I guess that was a fair warning.

Sigo pensando más de lo mismo. Historia interesante, pero que tiene problemas narrativos y de profundidad de personajes importantes.
Las partes buenas: la historia, la ambientación (con sus peros), el rollito academia siempre bien, y que empieza a abrirse un poco todo (en todos los sentidos).
Lo no tan bueno y que, por lo que voy a decir, parece que odio el libro, pero no:
Hay muchas lagunas, especialmente con Camu, muchas partes repetitivas, exposiciones dobles, etc. Aun así creo que mejoran en este libro todos estos defectos. Se nota algo más de profundidad, pero sigo notando que los personajes se mueven dentro de su rol de forma muy básica.
Creo que tiene que gestionar mejor el ritmo. No puedes pasar de una escena trepidante a, literalmente dos paginas después, estar banalizando sobre ello, como si no pasara nada.
En este libro especialmente, no me quedan nada claros los tiempos. Pasan semanas y meses como caramelos y no me cuadra nada en comparación con lo que hemos visto. Sobre todo, en la parte en la que están entrenando con cada disciplina. Al tratar cada una de forma independiente, no hay una mezcla de capítulos que a veces traten del arco, otras de naturaleza, pericia o fauna. Sucede una por completo y pasa a la siguiente. Sin embargo, sabemos ya que a ellos se les van intercalando las clases. ¿Durante el primer mes (por decir el primero), qué leches han hecho en las demás clases?
Son cosas que les puedes dar una mayor o menor importancia, pero que rompen un poco con el world building y con la narrativa. A mí me molestan, sinceramente, porque creo que son errores corregibles. Entendible porque este señor escribe muy rápido, pero igual no es necesario y acaba siendo mejor pulir las cosas.
(Repito, que parece que me queje de todo: me está encantando y voy a segur leyendo indudablemente (ya tengo comprados hasta el sexto), pero una cosa no quita la otra).

I absolutely love the adventure and friendship in all of these books.
I've been patiently waiting to see how the momentum holds up in this series as it progresses, and I think book 3 took something of a breather compared to books one and two – BUT, I loved it.
The plot is thickening and the twists and turns keep you guessing who is really good and who is truly evil. There is so much going on and I love how each book expands this world a little more. All set against the backdrop of the main characters progressing through the Ranger's school and graduating to each new year, this is such a great story.
So excited to move onto book 4 because I feel like sh*t is about to hit in the fan in spectacular ways.

PUes me ha encantado. Y el grupo de las Panteras me sigue gustando mucho. Los Guardabosques, todo.
En esta tercera parte, ya están en el tercer año de instrucción de Guardabosques. Este año es muy importante ya que es cuando se identifican con una maestría. También, en este libro nos metemos de lleno en la guerra entre el rey Uthar y Dathor, o entre los pueblos.
Descubrimos más misterios... Me ha gustado y seguiré leyendo la serie.
En esta tercera parte, ya están en el tercer año de instrucción de Guardabosques. Este año es muy importante ya que es cuando se identifican con una maestría. También, en este libro nos metemos de lleno en la guerra entre el rey Uthar y Dathor, o entre los pueblos.
Descubrimos más misterios... Me ha gustado y seguiré leyendo la serie.

Es que sigo totalmente IN LOVE con esta saga!!!! 😍😍 me encanta que esta vez haya más acción y trama fuera del campamento y así seguir explorando el mundo de la saga. Además, la parte final fue muy intensa y rápida, me absorbió totalmente!!
Y, lo dicho, me encantan todos los personajes, pero es que las Panteras de las Nieves🖤 son lo mejor! Ese refuerzo de amistad sin fin y contra todas las cosas me llena el kokoro muuuuuucho♥️

Binge Worthy Reading
I saw that this series is listed as young adult epic fantasy fiction but let me tell you, I’m nowhere near being a YA and I love this series, imho, it’s written as well as Harry Potter and is far more fascinating.
This third book starts off with a darker mood and I was wondering if I would like it as much as the first two books. Then Oh. My. God...the training as third year students at Ranger school starts and so does the action and adventures. Lasgol’s test took my breath away and kept me pinned to my iPad. Just wow. The result was as much a surprise for me as it was for the characters in the story. The only thing I would point out is that now knowing Lasgol, he would have asked the Ranger who created the test how the archer was his father, was he placed their by the illusionist and if so for what purpose. The results of this test was excruciatingly difficult for the remaining close friends of the Snow Panther team. I had tears in my eyes with the instructor’s choice for Egil. That scene was beautifully drawn out and brought together.
I really appreciate that the author creates a real learning environment for the students and shows that mastering a skill takes time, effort, dedication and tedious repetition. It makes everything so believable. The descriptions of the harsh environment of the frozen tundra, how the students apply what they have learned to help survive the killing cold, the explanations of divisions and formations of the different battalions: Calvary, Archers, Infantry, Lancers and the Rangers, it’s all spellbinding. Then the battle itself is so imaginative and exciting!
The plot twists are everywhere and the reading addictive. I’m so glad I don’t have to wait for the next book to come out since the entire series is available. This was a wonderful Kindle Unlimited suggestion.

The descriptions of the harsh environment of the frozen tundra, how the students apply what they have learned to help survive the killing cold, the explanations of divisions and formations of the different battalions: Calvary, Archers, Infantry, Lancers and the Rangers, it’s all spellbinding. Then the battle itself is so imaginative and exciting!
The plot twists are everywhere and the reading addictive. I’m so glad I don’t have to wait for the next book to come out since the entire series is available. This was a wonderful Kindle Unlimited suggestion.

This series keeps getting better and better!
The constant in this book is war. It underlines everything, and every choice made by both leaders and individuals.
Uthors greed, arrogance, and ambition know no bounds. The leaders of the Western part of the country know he's an imposter, and they have the right of inheritance to the throne on their side.
Those of the East have been taken in by the imposter, and believe they are being loyal to the rightfull king.
In the ranger camp, only Lasgol and his team, the Snow Leopards know the truth of what Uthor really is, and their lives are in mortal danger of being found out and summarily executed.
War is ugly, vicious, bloody, and devastating, and Uthor revels in it, not caring how many people die obeying his ruthless orders.
When you are ordered to fight your own people in a civil war, it becomes a nightmare of divided loyalties.
Who will win in the war between the usurper, and the rightful heir to the throne and what will be the cost?
Only the author knows, and I can't wait to find out!
I recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a great fantasy saga. I am enjoying it immensely!

This is the third book of the series, but the first one that I looked forward to reading for its own sake, not wishing that it was a John Flanagan book. I have come to enjoy reading about these characters, their unusual tests, and adventures. I never quite know what to expect.
Part of this book had themes from "Divergent" in their sorting. No sorting hats here.
The only thing that kept this from being a 4-star book (thoroughly enjoyed it, would recommend it) is that I just don't enjoy reading about war, and the descriptions of war took up a lot of space in this book. It seems to be a common teen book theme. There were also a confusing number of types of enemy tribes which were described mechanically, rather than as part of the story. I didn't really care much about what these enemy forces looked like, etc, or the subtle differences between them.
I think that the Snow Panther's role in the battle was extremely unlikely, that they'd be more likely to opt for self-preservation. Not that there aren't selfless people in battles. There definitely are. But SPOILER ... refusing to fight an enemy in the battle will get you killed pretty quickly, either by the enemy, or executed. I just don't see this happening this way.
SPOILER - The magical hallucination test was very strange, but I figured out what was going on before Lasgal.
Interesting quote: "Difficulties make us greater." I like to think that, and sometimes it's true, but sometimes it's not. For example, there's the old joke, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, except for bears. Bears will kill you." Sometimes a difficulty weakens you, if you haven't recovered from it yet, or can't quite regain your strength from it at all, and then something else comes along and finishes the job. The first thing, while not killing you, did not leave you stronger but weaker. I'm thinking of medical comorbidities here. Patients can frequently have more than one thing wrong with them at a time.
It's not the difficulty that makes someone stronger. It's the overcoming it completely to the point of recovering from it completely.
There is also some other truth in "difficulties make us greater," if we've learned from them and now know better ways to handle them.
But yes, it was supposed to be inspiring, not an analytical statement.
Another reviewer mentioned the bad language and the topics not suitable for young children. Yes, there are those.

La guerra cada vez se está poniendo más dura, pero también la formación en el Campamento. Lasgol y sus amigos continúan con el tercer año de formación en el campamento, donde tienen que lidiar con misiones ya reales y muy peligrosas. Además será el año donde serán elegidos para pertenecer a una maestría o tendrán que irse fuera. Por si fuera poco, Lasgol y Egil descubren el Secreto del Rey y el enemigo real. El ejército de Darthor se ha replegado y huye al Continente Helado, a la vez que el rey Uthar y su tropa buscan la manera de acabar definitivamente con él. Los Guardabosques se verán arrastrados a esa campaña helada, y Lasgol y sus amigos también. Conflictos, luchas, verdades y amores.
Si los personajes gustan ya con los anteriores libros, en estos ya se vuelven fascinantes. Todos ellos tienen una evolución sorprendente, además que crecen en profundidad y en complejidad. Especialmente destaca el cambio de Viggo, de todos este era el más reservado y del que menos conocíamos, aunque Egil sigue siendo mi favorito. Pero también veremos más cosas sobre el pasado de Dakon, el padre acusado de traición de Lasgol, y qué relación tenía con el rey.
Vamos a tener dos escenarios. La historia va a transcurrir entre el campamento de los Guardabosques y la tundra del Continente Helado, tras el ejército de Darthor. Con este nuevo lugar se va ampliando la geografía creada por el autor, un mundo totalmente apasionante. Y no solo la geografía, sino que también conoceremos a sus habitantes y nuevas razas.
Me sigue maravillando la pluma del autor. Es una escritura muy sencilla, con descripciones precisas y sin pasarse. La historia tiene una lectura muy fluida, súper entretenida y dinámica, ideal para los jóvenes lectores. Al mismo tiempo, aquí vemos ya un tono más oscuro que los anteriores, acorde con el transcurrir de la guerra de los nuevos acontecimientos. Es una historia ideal para fomentar la lectura, recordando a ecos de Percy Jackson por ejemplo. Una trama que tiene de todo: aventuras, guerras, pérdida, misterio, algo de romance.

En el tercer libro se preparan las intrigas políticas y bélicas para la resolución de la serie. Cada libro es un año de la formación de los jóvenes guardabosques. No hay grandes giros argumentales, seguimos explorando las consecuencias de los sorprendentes eventos del segundo libro.
Lo que comenté sobre los libros anteriores sigue aplicándose. Esto es como un cruce entre la saga El Aprendiz de Guardián (Ranger's Appprentice) de John Flanagan y Harry Potter. El Aprendiz de Guardián por motivos obvios, ya que existen muchas similitudes con los guardabosques de Norghana, un cuerpo pseudomilitar de élite que protege el reino de todo tipo de enemigos. Y Harry Potter por el énfasis en la formación (es una escuela de guardabosques, vaya), y por los lazos con los compañeros.
Sigue gustándome la serie.

Se produce la batalla y los guardabosques están obligados a ir con el rey y el pueblo del norte se
defiende muy bien
Llegan hechiceros, criaturas magníficas, como ejércitos del hielo potentes norghanos, los guardabosques y
ejércitos magníficos.
La guerra es brutal y ellos eran al frente, protegidos pero están al frente, son excelentes arqueros, los mejores en su clase.
Ellos quieren ayudar al ejército del Norte pero saben que eso sería alta traición, tiene que mantenerse al margen o hacer el menos daño posible.
La guerra sale mal, matan al padre de Egil y ahora uno de los hermanos es el nuevo duque, Egil y Lasgol regresan al campamento y juran lealtad a Ulthar, más para funcionar como espía que realmente una lealtad real.
Lasgol es el mejor del 3er año y es aceptado en todas las maestrías, pero sabe que especializarse en Fauna es lo que en quiere.
Valeria me da mala espina, no se porque y Astrid y Lasgol empiezan una “relación” pero me gusta que no está centrado en el romance sino que es algo que pasa.
Como siempre Egil muy estratega, Gerard es aceptado en de los animales, Ingrid en arco y así sus amigos son aceptados en diferentes maestrías, listos para su 4to y ultimo año.
La guerra está muy fuerte y ahora el problema es la guerra civil, los de Norghana del norte de alían con los pueblos salvajes para poder resistir ante Ulthar (el usurpador).
Le ofrecen a Lasgol ser parte de la guardia del Rey Ulthar pero en la rechaza, sabe que es una estrategia para mantenerlo vigilado y no algún privilegio, el impostor es cada vez más sanguinario y lo está demostrando ante todos.

I liked this book, it wasnt my favourite in the series so far but I still enjoyed it. It's hard not to when the main characters are so likeable and the friendships are so good. I did have some issues with it. I was kind of put off initially with the description of one of Lasgol's love interests, its minor, but the way a 15/16 year old girl was described as 'sultry' and 'womanly' kinda weirded me out. Luckily its really only her (I feel like it matches her character as a sly flirt but still wierd given her age) This series is actually really good for strong, normalised women as part of the team which I like. Bad things (not explicit, just mentioned) can still happen but it feels more like part of the horrors of the world than written because they're women like some stories have been. I had some other small nitpicking issues such as how the team just worked with Lasgol near the end despite never really having a proper conversation agreeing to it, small things like that. But overall the story was pretty solid, the pacing was pretty good, the writing, once again, was much smoother; it keeps improving. I really enjoyed the genuine sense of danger the characters faced and think it led into the next book well. I'm ready to go on to the next and see what happens.

Tercera entrega de la saga. Me sigue pareciendo un mundo interesante, los libros atrapan. Me gusta el hecho de que, mientras aún están estudiando, se manifiesten problemas de fuera cada vez con más importancia para su futuro. Los personajes me siguen pareciendo bastante arquetípicos en su forma de ser y funcionar. No se alejan mucho de algo prefijado… pero aun así consiguen tener personalidad propia. Este libro ha sido de los más predecibles para mí. Comentaba con mi pareja y amigos algunas cosas que decía que iban a pasar y exactamente eso es lo que pasaba. El tropo del elegido se tiene que poder llevar muy bien, y eso a veces cuesta y hace que ciertos puntos de la trama sean predecibles.
A este libro en concreto le falta una revisión y corrección de errores. Tanto gramaticales como de estructura. Y sobre todo vigilar los nombres, porque en alguna ocasión eran erróneos. Por ejemplo, en un punto se entiende por la situación en que hablan a Egil y Lasgol, pero menciona a Egil y Viggo este último no estando presente. Son errores que tendiran que poder ser corregidos teniendo a una editorial detrás, ya que cuentan con editores y correctores.
De momento voy a seguir con la saga. A ver si me mantiene lo suficientemente interesada para leer todos los libros.

después me encantó la parte de la guerra, ya que en ese libro hay muchas más matices y es el arco principal.

The opening was simply spectacular so much action and adventure in it.
With the start of the third year in training to be Rangers again you have to see just who or what is behind everything. I hobe as you don't know who is good and who is bad anymore. The books have been screwing with my mind.
It's great as I love the screwing with the good and bad as it really pushes boundaries. I think it's one of the best parts in fantasy and especially this series.
The story is fast paced which I did like as it kept me on the edge of my seat. The characters also are great and I am really enjoying Mirta.
Viggo is annoying me a lot in this book. He seems just to be quick to action but no thought process to what he should do.
The battle scenes were well done without being too gruesome and I loved the magical creatures that they show. Definitely not expected.
This book made me feel so many different emotions. Betrayal at what occurs but also seeing a nice side that the team finally trusts each other and realizes that they are together and will be better served staying that way.

After a brief secret meeting with his mother, Lasgol arrives back, late, for his third year of Ranger school to find that the school has been taken over and events have become very dangerous.
The Panthers do a lot of talking when they’re supposed to be ‘falling in’ for inspection, etc. Regular military wouldn’t allow this.
This book gets very intense and realistic, especially during the main battle. The Lasgol and the Panthers have some really hard, dangerous choices they have to make.
Footnote: 1) For a camp that’s supposed to be so secret there sure is a lot of non-Rangers coming in and out that could give away the secret.
2) I love books that have maps, but I wish this one was of places that we actually come across in the book. This map is of the whole world and we haven’t even left the main kingdom. This map needs to be focused closer into Norghana because we’re reading about places that aren’t on the map
Fave scenes: Osvald ordering the Eagles around, Lasgol finding the crabs, the almost duel, Viggo on the roof and staying warm in the tent.

Large Scale Battle Descriptions Are Hard
The story continues with Lasgol returning to his home town for the yearly break from school. An interesting plot develops where townspeople have been kidnapped by bandits and only he can rescue them. Lasgol gets to demonstrate his newfound skills, encounter some adversities and overcome the bandits with help from friends, namely Ulf, one of the kidnapped townspeople.
Things have gotten enormously complicated back at the ranger school. Lasgol is somehow able to "get away" from school several times to meet with his mother, AKA Darthor leader of the enemy, and observe some meetings including the northern races and the western league (which includes Egil's father).
Lasgol's morale dilemma, to take his mother's side and what he is increasingly believing is the "right" side, vs. continuing to faithfully serve the king, who he now believes is a false king, a shape-shifted foreigner.
Lasgol learns more about Camu and his abilities, mainly through a chance encounter with a ice dwelling mage who has a little lizard pet of his own.
The story continues with Lasgol returning to his home town for the yearly break from school. An interesting plot develops where townspeople have been kidnapped by bandits and only he can rescue them. Lasgol gets to demonstrate his newfound skills, encounter some adversities and overcome the bandits with help from friends, namely Ulf, one of the kidnapped townspeople.
Things have gotten enormously complicated back at the ranger school. Lasgol is somehow able to "get away" from school several times to meet with his mother, AKA Darthor leader of the enemy, and observe some meetings including the northern races and the western league (which includes Egil's father).

Exceptional Series Continuation
If readers of this review haven’t read Books 1-3 they need to do so in order or a lot of what’s going on might not make sense. Leading up to the finale of Book 4, Book 3 presented one of the best battles I’ve read in print. The young group of Rangers are forced into real battle at a terrifying level and grow up quickly. But before that they have to endure Year 3 of training which proves to be quite the task and through pure luck the team remains in tact. The year presents some interesting interchanges and alliances and some rather unexpected friendships. I’ve loved this story to this point and feel certain Book 4 will provide an outstanding conclusion. Therefore I highly recommend this series and continue to refrain from revealing to much in my phrase. Off to Book 4...
