- Aladdin inspired
- Forced Marriage
- Mafia
- Strangers to friends to lovers
- Slow burn

This is the sixth book in the Fractured Ever Afters series and while you can read it as a standalone, I strongly recommend starting at the beginning. Trust me, it is so worth it! This is truly one of the best mafia series I have ever read. Each story is written so incredibly well and all of these couples have a piece of my heart. I am so thankful to have stumbled across this author when I did as I am now a forever fan.

I just knew Yasmine and Caladin's story was going to wreck me in the best way. They both have their traumas and reasons for them to feel the need to keep their hearts and their trust locked down. I really appreciate that the romance was not rushed as their joumey from strangers to forced spouses to friends to lovers was just done so well.

This book is my favorite in the entire Fractured Ever After Series. All books can be read as a standalone, but believe me, it is much better to read them in order.
This was an angsty read for me. Yasmine and Caladin are in a marriage neither wants to be. Even after all Yasmine has been through, she never loses the will to fight. How she and Caladin grow closer over time (it is a slowburn) was amazing to read. And they will fight for each other, it may take some time for them to figure things out, but they are perfect together.

I knew Yasmine's story would destroy me. I knew it would. I just didn't think it would leave me a sobbing pile of goo 😭😭😭 this author again writes a masterpiece! This series, even the ones I didn't really like, is one of the best mafia series ever! The storyline throughout each book and then the whole overarching plot was done to perfection! I thought I knew how it was going to end, but honestly, it was a ride!! Yasmine and Calden are perfection together! I'm so glad she didn't lose her fight from what her father and Jasper did! They both fought to be together in the end, and it was amazing!! And then that last little tid bit at the end after the book ending...ugh! I need so much more!

So this whole series is new to me, and going in as a stand-alone I was still worried, “should I have read the other 5 books in order!?” NOPE does not matter that I didn’t start from book one, I was filled in on all the detail.

It was easy to follow along and the story line was amazing, unlike any book I have read so far.

After reading this book I will very much continue to read the rest of the stories!!!

Thanks for the ARC opportunity. Great book!!!!!!

Yasmine and Caladin’s story is the sixth and last book in the Fractured Ever Afters series. This mafia series is wonderful with each book so different from the others in the series, yet they do connect. If you haven’t read the previous five books, that’s fine as the story by itself stands alone; however, I urge you to consider reading the other books as they are all excellent.

Yasmine is the one character we knew very little about really, this story continues on with the issue of the secret society that her stepfather was involved with before his death. Being the stepsister to the New York Mafia boss’s wife, Ariella, she is on their radar. So, to please his wife, Erico sends his consigliere, Caladin, to find her and this is the start of an unusual relationship.

Caladin starts off as one type of character but soon becomes more flexible and starts to take notice of Yasmine. Marriage was definitely not on either of their radar but I feel it helped push both lead characters to explore more. Without revealing anymore of the story I will just say that both characters experience growth.

Although this particular story isn’t as action-packed as the other books in the series, it is an extremely enjoyable and entertaining read. This amazing series, with its fairy tale influence, is extremely cleverly written and The Obscurity in Wishing is a terrific final book.

My expectations were SO high for this book. Aladdin is my favourite fairytale so I’m always super picky when it comes to retellings for this story. But, once again ML Philpitt brilliantly delivered. From the little references to Canadian life (and all the red cups… IYKYK) to the clever way the tale's characters were adapted to the book, to the character’s growth and the plot, I thoroughly enjoyed it all. Bonus, I’ve even found myself a new book husband in Caladin Rossi.

Again, like all the other books in the series, this one is fast paced and reads super easily. You get sucked into the story right away. While the burn is slower than in the other books, believe me, the payoff is so delicious. I promise you, you’ll squeal a few times (I did!), you’ll be hot all over and your toes will definitely curl. ML Philpitt definitely knows how to write spicy scenes.

Mǎfiå romance / retelling lovers, if you haven’t picked up this series yet, you are missing out!

✨In this book, you’ll also find✨
🧞‍♂️Touch her and I’ll unalive you
🧞‍♂️Arranged marriage
🧞‍♂️One bed
🧞‍♂️He falls first… but he doesn’t want to 😏
🧞‍♂️Sensation play / depravation
🧞‍♂️Ørgãsm denial (ědgīng)

‼️As usual check TW/CW on the author’s website

Thank you so much to ML Philpitt for giving me an early eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Rossi consigliere Caladin goes to Canada at the behest of his Don on a mission to track down his new wife’s missing stepsister not knowing if it would be a rescue mission or if he’d have to kidnap Yasmin de Falco to get her back to New York. When he tracked her down even he couldn’t have foreseen just how events would play out and the effect they would have on his life and there was nothing he could do if he was to prevent a war.

There were less twists and turns to the story than I’ve come to expect from the Fractured Ever Afters series. The Obscurity in Wishing was more of an emotional and angsty read focusing more on the development of Caladin and Yasmin’s relationship. Neither had wanted to marry. After losing his parents at a young age, Caladin had determined he’d never risk putting a child of his through that pain while after being lied to and controlled by men all her life, all Yasmin wanted was the freedom to live how she wanted. Despite their reluctance there was plenty of chemistry between the two albeit this was a slowburn romance. This pair had a lot of issues to work through. Yasmin especially when she learnt the full truth about her evil father’s machinations. There was still some action and drama towards the end of their story as the Seven showed that their reach extended beyond Canada and brought trouble to New York making for a gripping conclusion to this book.

The Obscurity in Wishing by M.L. Philpitt is the story of Caladin and Yasmine. I freaking LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book!!!! Her situation is hopeless. She’s trapped with a monster. But, Caladin has offered to get her back! Little does he know the cost of retrieving her…and the changes it will have on both their lives.

Yasmine is taken from one form of imprisonment to another…and she hates Caladin for it. She’s trapped and there is no escape. Caladin and she are entwined now…and it cannot be undone. But, there are other forces at work to dismantle everything….and the outcome is certain death. Loved the play on Aladdin…but, oh so much better!!!! I devoured this incredible read!!!

I fell in love with Caladin in Erico’s book and his story did not disappoint.
His traumatic history broke my heart and made me want to put him back together…even more so when you learn that Caladin is A KINKY MOFO! Sir, you haven’t even kissed yet and we’re talking about restraints and hot wax 🤤
Yasmine has been dealt some real garbage hands but I loved how she was still a badass and stood up for herself and not in a way that makes you go “oh shut up already!” You know exactly what I’m talking about, don’t lie!!
Their chemistry was fire. The s3x was hot hot hot. The storyline was chefs kiss. M.L. you keep doing you boo, it’s working!

The Obscurity in Wishing by M.L. Philpitt is book 6 in the Fractured Ever Afters Series. This is the story of Caladin Rossi and Yasmine De Falco. This book can be a standalone book but they are interconnecting. So, I do think it adds to your enjoyment if you have read the previous books. Caladin is the Consigliere of the New York Famiglia who ends up marrying Yasmine. Yasmine hasn't had a easy life and it seems she escaped one 'prison' to enter another one. Enjoyed this book.

I LOVED this one. This was my 2nd favorite book in this series, the first being book 1 with Nico and Della. ML has such a great way of writing mafia that isn't too confusing to a non-mafia reader, such as myself, and I love the tie-ins to the fairytales she is reimagining. Caladin is such a sweetheart, and I love that even though Yasmine has been beaten down by life, it didn't let that stop her from getting what she wanted, even if it didn't come out the way she planned.

❤️ Caldin and Yasmine

🧞‍♂️Forced Marriage
🧞‍♂️Mafia Romance
🧞‍♂️Opposites Attract
🧞‍♂️Slow Burn
🧞‍♂️Aladdin Inspired

When the Boss’s new wife wants her step-sister found, Caladin Rossi doesn’t hesitate in accepting the job. Caladin’s not only the Consigliere of the New York Famiglia, he’s also their best hunter. Although he has no doubt in his ability to bring he home, he could have never prepared for making her
his new wife to seal the deal.

Yasmine’s been controlled by men her entire life. The only thing she’s even wanted is her freedom. Moving to New York with a husband she doesn’t know makes her dream seem impossible.

This was such a good book. I loved
seeing Caladin & Yasmine navigate their new marriage and eventually find happiness
with one another.

“I’ll be sure to show her I’m a street rat in a fancy suit before I am a prince.”

Caladina Rossi never thought a task would lead to the beauty before him and never did he wish for this beauty to become his wife. But, in order to save her, Caladina must agree to marry her.

Caladina never wanted a wife and now he’s tied to the De Falco Princess Yasmine. A deal is made between them to be friends at least make the best of the situation they are now in.

Being Consigliere of the New York Famiglia Caladina has seen his fair share of blood split, doughed bullets and caused havoc on the families enemies. Only now he fears his feelings towards Yasmine, she is more than he ever thought, with a mind behind her beauty and personality that Caladin feels compelled to explore more.

“I might have started it, piccola tigre, but you can’t deny kissing me back.”

But, can he ever truly allow himself to love her?

Will this diamond in the rough shine before the cracks start to break?

“I wished for a way out of there. But now, I feel just as trapped.”

A deal was made when she was born and now thanks to her father Yasmine De Falco has no way to escape her future. Until a mystery encounter with a stranger has Yasmine wishing for something more in her life. When the stranger turns out to be Caladin Rossi, Consigliere of the New York Famiglia Yasmine knows this is her only chance to see her family again and escape her doom within the Seven.

However, having a ring on her finger and forever having Caladin by her side wasn’t something she saw coming or wanted but to fly away is too tempting. Yasmine knows that this is nothing more than a piece of paper between them…yet Caladin is the only man who has ever cared about what she wanted in life.

We’ll crash, burn, and will go up in smoke, or we’ll explode into fireworks. Not sure I want to be around to find out which it ends up being.

Yasmine is finally able to choose for herself what she wants and finally able to taste freedom. Believing that Caladin never wanted to trap her in a cage, Yasmine is also unable to resist admiring him and as they work close together living in the same close space the heated tension is becoming harder to fight each day.

The castle they have built is about to fall like the grains of sand.

Wishes may not alway guarantee a happy ending.

The woman who’s become my addiction.
The woman who’ll be my downfall.

I loved how the Aladdin tale was twisted into Yasmine & Caladin story, I thought this worked out really well and with the references woven in this was a perfect read!

A lot of loose ends are finally uncovered and with still the new unknown with The Seven you are given enough to still be intrigued by what that whole could still be about. Yasmine & Caladin's story is in the heart of New York, finding themselves in a situation neither of them wanted but sacrifices have to be made to hopefully find their own paths to happiness. I loved how this all played out, the characters finding themselves and trusting the other to lower their walls leaving them exposed.

The tension is thick with passionate heat between these two, you understand their reasons for holding back…until it all becomes too much and then your cheering inside grasping for more…and more from Yasmine & Caladin!

This story involves the sisters' families and nothing much is given away, just their happily ever after. I really enjoyed reading Yasmine & Caladin heartache of a story and reading to see if could fly off together into the sun set.

Every wish she wants will be granted or I’ll die trying.

"Obscurity in Wishing" serves as the captivating conclusion to the Fractured Ever After series, offering readers a unique and enthralling love story between Yasmine and Caladine. Their dynamic is marked by a constant tug-of-war, each trying to resist the allure of love while navigating the strings fate has woven for them.

The characters in this book are notably reserved, diligently attempting to shield themselves from the intoxicating allure of emotions that could lead to love. Yasmine's relentless pursuit of freedom stems from a life dictated by others, a journey that resonates throughout the narrative. Caladine, on the other hand, harbors a belief that love only leads to inevitable heartache as it ultimately ends in death, leaving behind a trail of sorrow.

One of the standout aspects of the book is the intricate portrayal of family dynamics. The four sisters, bound by blood and forgiveness, showcase a powerful unity despite past mistakes. This thematic exploration adds depth and richness to the narrative, creating a compelling backdrop for the central love story.

For readers who revel in themes of marriage of convenience, slow burn romance, a touch of the mafia, and steamy scenes that ignite the pages, "Obscurity in Wishing" is a must-read. The book's allure is heightened, particularly for those who have delved into the preceding volumes of the Fractured Ever After series.

Immerse yourself in a tale where love defies resistance, family triumphs over past grievances, and the pages sizzle with a combination of passion and intrigue. Trust me, if you've enjoyed the preceding books in the series, this captivating conclusion will not disappoint.

The Obscurity in Wishing- ML Philpitt

Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5

Im obsessed with this series! This is the 6th book in the Fractured Ever Afters series, a series of Disney retellings, mafia style. This particular story is an Aladdin retelling and I think it might be my favorite. It’s a slow burn but when they get together our hero Caladin is kinky af who loves sensory play. I loved their banter, and while Yasmine wasn’t physically strong (at first), she wasn’t afraid of letting Caladin have a piece of her mind. And then she asked him to train her and she got strong physically! We love a strong FMC!

Caladin is sent to BC to track down Yasmine who has been dumped at some secret society school by her father before he died. The only way the secret society, The Seven, will release her to him is if they get married. It’s a marriage neither of them want or asked for. Caladin is determined never to love anyone because he saw what love can do when his parents who loved each other so much they couldn’t be separated ended up dying together and leaving him orphaned as a ten year old.

All Yasmine wants is freedom. Her father prevented that when he signed her over to be wed to one of The Seven on her birthday after her 25th birthday. Now that time has come and she has had no knowledge of this reality and it’s a huge wake up call for her so when Caladin comes to save her and take her home with him, unbeknownst to her, as his bride. They vow to be roommates, to keep their distance, eventually they evolve into friends. Will they be able to resist the chemistry they seem to have? Will she get the freedom she so desperately desires?

🐚 𝐀𝐑𝐂 𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖 🐚

𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀: forced proximity, mafia, strangers to friends to lovers, slow burn, forced marriage, he falls firs, opposites attract

𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀: abuse, captivity, physical violence, murder, death, stalking, recollection of parental death

WITHOUT WORDS!!

If I had to choose between one of the Rossi cousins, Calden is definitely the one. He conquered me from the first!!

I loved how the author wrote the development of the characters and their trauma. It's truly a masterpiece!

Yasmine is such a lovely and innocent woman, but Calden brings out her fighting nature. She was kept hidden and captive by her ex-husband, but when Calden rescues her, she thinks that she has changed one prison for another.

Calden never wanted a wife, but when this is the only way he can take Yasmine back to her family, he accepts. Although he has an important role in the mafia, he has a good and beautiful soul. He gives Yasmine the freedom she lacked and teaches her how to fight if something bad happens.

Every moment that Yasmine and Calden spend together only makes them catch feelings. When the tension between them is too overwhelming, they both give up continuing to keep their distance and start a new step in their relationship.

Both are strong characters and together they overcome everything that comes their way. And that's why they say that love conquers everything.

Thank you M. L. Philpitt for the opportunity to read this amazing book in exchange for an honest review.

The Obscurity in Wishing ARC Review

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶🌶🌶

What can I say, every book in the Fractured Ever After Series gets better with each story, and the final book of the series is no different.

M.L. Philpitt has taken me on an amazing journey with these six books, and this series quickly became one of my favorites.

The Obscurity in Wishing is the sixth book in the Fractured Ever After Series, and as expected, it is an beyond amazing story and an expertly crafted reimagining of Aladdin.

Yasmin and Caladin are perfection!!!  I'll leave the emotional and spectacular details for you to discover, but you will not be disappointed!

The Obscurity in Wishing can be read as a standalone, but trust me, you will want to read the entire series.

As I said in previous reviews, M.L. Philpitt's world is masterfully written, and each time you think you you've found your favorite couple, she gives you another amazing, loveable, sexy duo to swoon over.  Every book just gets better and better!

I never wanted this series to end because the Corsetti and Rossi mafia empires are some of the best mafia romance families I have read.

Thank you, M.L. Philpitt, thank you for giving me the opportunity to read the ARCs for this series and taking me on this masterfully written and beautiful dark fairytale journey.

“i’m vowing to you, with my parents as witnesses, to love you until the earth stops rotating and the end wipes away existence. because death, death won’t end my feelings for you.”

there’s a comfort and nostalgia to these books because of the heavy influence and references to disney princesses elevated by a mafia setting. although this particular story felt a bit detached from the rest due to the slightest change in format with all the breaks within chapters to symbolize the passage of time and different trips the couple did, that spoke to the homage paid by the author to aladdin “showing the world” to yasmin, giving a whole new meaning to a childhood’s favorite song. i really liked the progress from strangers to friends to lovers, nevermind that the slow burn of it all killed me, but the spice after they got together really made up for it. the reason this wasn’t a 5 star for me, as much as this pains me to say, was the ungratefulness and whiny quality to the fmc for a vast majority of the book. yes, it was understandable of her character to a point, but after that it became a bit grating. i can’t believe there’s actually going to be a last book after this, that was the biggest plot twist, especially given how i can’t fathom, for the life of me, who’s it going to be about.

This is the 6th book in the Fractured Ever Afters series where we get to discover Caladin and Yasmine’s emotional journey. Yasmine has been controlled her entire life by men and never given the chance to make a life decision on her own so when she is recused from a monster by Caladin of the Rossi NY Mafia on behalf of his Don and his wife, her step sister she knows she’s never have freedom. Caladin and Yasmine are not happy being forced to marry but it ensures her living a life without fear of being controlled. It’s beautiful to see how Caladin allows Yasmine 3 wishes, trying to create a bond between them which turns their relationship from being cold to hot and heavy. When these two face the reality they have feelings for one another do they become a couple that fight for their love! When trouble comes their way Caladin does what’s necessary to keep Yasmine safe and alive even with the ghost of his past in his thoughts. Yasmine becomes a new woman with the help of Caladin and he becomes a new man with their new lives, together full of love!

I have been looking forward to this book for many reasons, and it did not disappoint.
While it wasn't necessarily my favourite of the series, that was more due to personal tastes than the quality of the book, so there was no way I could mark it down. Especially when you took into consideration the character growth.
It was heart warming to witness, almost even more so than her sister and Flynn.
The plot itself wasn't as action packed as the others, but the author definitely made up for it towards the end.
I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next.

The Fractured Ever Afters series. So sad it's over. But, Ms. Philpiit gave me another block-buster read!

Her world building is always so colorful, so real! Her characters drew me in and I felt the emotional roller-coaster they road.

There's plenty of heat to warm the coldest heart, most brutal hearts. Well it is a mafia romance!

I just loved the "relationship" growth of the mains. I adored both Yasmine and Caladin. Smiles. Aladdin...Caladin!

I haven't read each of the books in this series, but I will definitely be catching the ones I missed!

I have been loving the Fractured Ever After series, and The Obscurity in Wishing is the Aladdin inspired story and it was incredible!! These books can all be read as standalones, but it's so much better if you actually read them in order. Yasmine's story really tugs at the heart strings, but this story absolutely delivered. It's fast paced, not to mention it reads very easily. I was hooked from the get-go, and even though this is a bit of a slow burn, just wait, it's 100% worth it. I have to say, I think this is my favorite story in the series so far.

This author has brought us an incredible angsty, tragic, sad, emotional and hotter than *^*^ story again! This is Yasmine and Caladins story and it absolutely broke my heart. I felt everything these characters felt, cried with them and for them and was cheering when they got their hea. This author has such a way of telling stories, bringing her characters to life and pulling her readers in to go on their journey with them. Another fantastic addition to this series!

Compelling story with a strong emotional core. I was reading until 1am - couldn’t put it down. The chemistry and relationships between the characters was nuanced and interesting.

I’m not always the biggest fan of mafia romance but M. L. Philpitt managed to deftly walk the line of portraying truly ruthless characters in a way that made them sympathetic and likeable without declawing them.

Highly recommend.

I’m just obsessed with this series and so sad it’s over! I loved all the small hints towards all the beloved fairytales- this one being Aladdin. I loved the arranged marriage, one bed, the spice! The characters the plot everything!

My only complaint about this series is some couples are repetitive- the things that are said, the way the couples despise each other and then love each other, and even some of the spice is the same. But I still ate it all up and loved every second of this series!

This book had me feeling so unbelievably sad for these two. To say their past is tragic is an understatement. From the beginning I found myself trying to figure out when was "it" going to happen. Talk about angst. In true ML Philpitt fashion I found myself not wanting to put this book down. What an amazing series and I really feel lucky to have read it.
