I know you said you started writing this as Ds point of view like the other books. But I actually really enjoyed Pops side. Learning about his childhood, and Alec. Hearing about Jules... It was good. 🖤
I really enjoyed this book I feel it gives some depth to pops and why he is the way he is. The facts that Deicide was kinda a surprise and his own dad's shitty-ness helps to explain why he was not a great dad when she was a child. I also really enjoyed the parallels between Pops and Deicides, how their lives have been so similar up to a point then they severely diverge at some point.
Told through Pops’ eyes, this installment gives us a fresh POV. To be real, I had to pause. The series kicks off intense, but after nine books, the shock factor starts to wear off. Some books had me glued to the page while others felt like déjà vu even though the plot does progress. Details that once gave me “Oh My God” moments started to fall flat. We glimpse into Pops’ upbringing and how his family came to be. Very close to how he ended up raising Deicide. It’s heartbreaking in a way, but my drive now is I need to see how this ends. 🔪 Familiar brutality. 🔪 New perspective. 🔪 Still chasing closure with one book left to go
It was nice to see the other side of the story and see how Pops (Andy) grew up with his parents. As I thought, he also came from a broken family and had a chance of a normal life. I’m sad that Andy became exactly like his own father and treated his “daughter” exactly the same as what happened in his childhood, talk about generational trauma… I’m hoping there is more in this series because I want to know what happens to Alec and Decide… Do they get out of jail? Will Bliss still be loved and taken care of? Will Stacey still be a part of Andy’s life?
I didn’t think I needed Pops’ story in a book but I guess I did! This reminded me so much of the first book and it was great seeing the backstory to what’s mentioned in the other EIGHT books. One more book left and this has been a wild ride.
The author intended to write this from Deicide's pov but couldn't make it work so switched the perspective. I love that it didn't work as intended. This was needed. Answered a few questions, gave some small insights and I enjoyed seeing all this from Pops' POV for a change.
Omgosh! I love love love this series! Can’t get enough of them. The books all end to soon! I loved hearing from pops and his story of growing up, how he learned the “trade”. Can’t wait for the next one to come out. I hope she never stops writing this series!! Best series ever written!!!
I enjoyed this book. I was thankful for a switch in perspective. I think Andy is an interesting character and I like that he was a little rebellious. I actually felt a connection to him and Jules so when things break down, it's upsetting. I appreciate that they didn't make her fall in line with the lifestyle though and that she had a normal reaction. I also like the whole addition of his dad having Kuru and having that alter him. It was nice seeing Andy being so protective of her and kind to her but having his completely different sadistic side. I think Andy finally losing his control with his dad because he abused their mother made sense. Alec has consistently been one of the most likable characters. Him and Andy plotting to let Jules get away was nice to see. I was very surprised about the outcome with Jules. It added a layer of excitement for what's to come in the final book. I think this book has been the most interesting so far. It almost left me wanting more.

The 9th book in this series gives us a break from Deicide and allows us to dive into the world of Pops. Sea Caummisar allows us to grow up with Pops and provides insight into exactly how Pops came to be...well...Pops. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, although in his defense he tried hard not to turn into his father. We also get insight as to how he comes up with some of the ideas that he does such as the way he raises Deicide, some of his beliefs, and Deicide's baby (probably the same way he got his brother).
Finally, we also get insight into Deicide's mother. It is a short insight but extremely impactful. It gave me a new appreciation for Pop's brother. This installation explains all the dynamics of the family while still leaving you wanting and needing more. It's hard to believe that their is only one more novela to this series.
I love this author, Sea Caummisar is such an incredible writer and always manages to be A my attention with every read. This the 9th book in the series is more around pops way of thinking and how he grew to be who he is, and how deicide came to be his daughter. Although yes some things are similar to Diecides upbringing you can see where it all comes from and why things are as they are with pops, Alex and deicide. A great read and I can't wait to see where it all goes and how things progress. Eagerly awaiting the next book and recommending wholeheartedly to anyone who enjoyed extreme horror.
I have just finished this series, and my god, I loved it! I especially loved this one as you get pops' back story, which I thoroughly enjoyed finding out all the different sides to pops. There's much more to him than you originally think.
I loved the writing style of the whole series, and as someone who is far too much in her own head, I felt a somewhat strange connection with deicide. The whole series is a bunch of emotions, and I thoroughly enjoyed every second. I can't wait to dig deeper into the other words of Sea Caummisar
A change of POV was much, much needed. It was very interesting to have Pops' childhood story, even if it was easy to already have a pretty good idea about it. Very similar to what Deicide went through, yes, but also very unique to him. While he's been hating on his dad forever, he did turn out just like him. Trauma passed down from parents to children kinda thing.
I read it super fast, enjoyed it, now onto the last book; curious to see how this will all wrap up.
This book explains alot. I did enjoy it and can't wait for the next one...maybe stacy isn't so bad..hope Julie comes bk omg .and kill Stacy ffs ..Will baby girl forgive her mother..will her mother get bk with pops..will Bliss go to foster care ..this is some sick crap but I want a happy ending for all
Reading about Pops' upbringing and the loss of his love makes his actions and decisions clearer. He is a good person underneath. He's always been bullied, manipulated, and misguided. I'm happy that Stacy pulled through. I want to see what Deicide has gotten herself into now and hope that Pops' love and discipline can get her back on track. Excellent read as always.
1 more to go then I’m done with this series. I loved how this book was written from Pop’s point of view. We got to see how his childhood was and his adult life before D was born and man it sucked! His father was probably the BIGGEST psychopath ever!! And finding the truth out about Alex, WOW!! I wonder if we will ever find out if Jules is alive or dead?
While I liked getting some backstory on Andy, this was my least favorite of the series to date.
The writing felt choppy and kept changing from first person to third person.
But I really enjoy reading the tales that Sea has to tell, so I'll keep trucking along with the series as she releases them since they are quick reads.
I think reading from Pops’ point of view was probably the best part of this entire series. I’ve always been interested in pops’ back story and finding out about the lore of “graps”. Deicide is really her grandpa/father’s daughter 😅. I look forward to the final book in this saga! It’s been a wild ride for sure lol.
Loved seeing things fron Pops perspective and getting his backstory - it's so fucking sad! To think that if he had ran with Jules and she never found out he could of lived a normal and happy life.
Only for it to be ripped away with Graps doing when he did and Pops losing himself after losing Jules
This issue was solid, but not super surprising. We finally get Pops’ backstory, and yep — it’s almost the exact same way she was raised. Not a huge shock there.
It’s still a good read though. The art’s great, the pacing works, and it keeps the story moving. Nothing mind-blowing, but it sets things up nicely for what’s next.
from pops point of few Alec was also kidnapped Deicide is a product of rape a spouse for a spouse & were talking murder Julie is alive somewhere Alec & Deicide end up in jail
Super curious how this series will end and all tie together. Im here for it either way.

Finally finding out the background to questions that were posed in the beginning of the series whilst still keeping me hooked to go read the last book IMMEDIATELY. This series of books has twists and turns and gore but also the psychology behind things is so fascinatingly complex and in depth
Finally the series is back to the old roots! I was so over the cult, the meth, and alcohol abuse because it was just so boring. The killings were becoming boring too. I Loved this back story into Pop’s life. Can’t wait to see what’s up with Jules! Please let Alex die off!
I really like this book. Learning more about pops was a great choice for this book. The ending leaves you wondering which I like only because I know there is more to come.
Ok this one was an amazing change of point of view and really dove into Pops history. In a weird, morbid way it made sense as to why he is what/who he is. I almost couldn’t help but feel so sorry for him.
i think the sole reason the author wrote this was to establish alec and deicide not blood related so they could fuck again (or for it to not be “that bad” in the previous books)
interesting turn of events that Julie is alive though.

A great switch up in the series, understanding why D's pops is the way he is. Definitely has those icky cringe moments you come to suspect with S.C.'s writing and as a fan of the dark, gory, and gritty it was a great read. Definitely not for the faint of heart. Only one more installment to go.
