Belinda Cooper has been working the same job for six years. She lives and breathes to be at the beck and call of her grumpy, arrogant and filthy rich boss.
When she finally decides to up and leave the boss she believes hates her, Belinda discovers things are not always what they seem.
Jagger Warren is obsessed with his personal assistant. So obsessed that he is enraged at the idea of her even daring to dream of leaving him.
It is a battle of wills. She will do anything to leave his life and he will do anything to make her his.

This is not a review but a few points for future reference if I ever try reading it again (after some good editing):
- This story had a lot of potential with an interesting plot and funny characters but I just can't keep reading with so many typos and errors in almost every page.
- Clarice was a great and funny kid and one of the reasons i kept reading.
- Every time Belinda saw Jagger and began to describe him, she used the same exact words and look, i'm only on chapter 18 of 59 and I CAN'T stand it.
- From silly and not that important typos to reading about "Warner Industries" and "Warren Industries" and at some point I just had to ask myself: did someone edit this?
-And then amount of times I had to GOOGLE SOME WORDS because I thought I was losing it and forgetting how to read in English but turns out that they were just misspelled words 😭
- In 20 chapters Jagger has grunted and growled more times that he's spoken WTF THIS CANNOT BE NORMAL
- She's worked as his assistant for 6 years, she said that she has HATED him for all those years but suddenly she's kind of in love and he's been an asshole to her for the same amount of time and yep, he's too suddenly madly in love with her 🙄
- He's the most rich man in the world, owner of almost the half of the world, if people annoy him he'll get them fired (doesn't matter if that people didn't even work for him)👀
- He's territorial and jealous by everyone who dares to speak or look at Belinda
is it crack? no its just another Kayla Silvers book!
PHENOMENAL SHOWSTOPPING GORGEOUS OBSESSED WITH THIS BOOK!!! i loved fairytale green but i might like Firing Line more because the charcters were older and there was more smut 🫢 ALSO SINGLE MOTHER IS WHERE IT IS ATTTTTT
This book literally has everything I could ever want in a bookk. The writing was exceptionally done from the plot to the characters it was absolutely incredible. The Firing Line is infinity stars in my book💚
I have read both Kayla’s finished books and I think I can die happily now. I would give up my whole life just to read them both again for the first time, I loved them so much💚💚💚😭😭😭😭
I actually enjoyed this book but it was too damn long !! 500 plus pages ?? it would’ve been 100 pages less if every time when Warren covered his smile with his hands was not mentioned. Smile man !! Smile out loud for god’s sake !!! It would’ve been even less if he said “ Belinda , Be quiet” even lesser than the smiles .. And had it no been mentioned how his face was expressionless except for something going behind his eyes and stuff … it would’ve been an 200-300 pages book.
There were some grammatical mistakes .. this book needs better editing but i’m not deducting any stars coz of that.
There were some cute scenes .. Characters were okay i guess. And i guess the whole sending ex away thing way before that ending when the plot was revealed.
Also … why was polly and Jaxon shown to be on a way towards relationship ??? Polly and matt had twins in the epilogue so what was point of showing Jaxon being in love with her and her just considering him her best friend🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
i don’t know how i completed this book because now after i’ve finished it .. i realize .. it was quite boring.
Okay so, this book had potencial. The story / plot was good for the whole dark - possessive - asshole MMC and quirky - light - sarcastic FMC type of books I've seen / read.
The problem was the execution... Or in this particular case it was the editing - more precisely - the lack there of. As someone who studied book editing in college (but is not in the business) I would love to sit down with this author and this book and just perfect it, because it really is a shame that it's out there like this.
I detected at least 30 mistakes before I stopped counting, and numerous other instances of using wrong words for the situation in an attempt to have a varied, fancier vocabulary, as well as several punctuation mistakes. The other issue was the constant repetition of the same thing in two-three-four paragraphs in a row. And the over use of the same description over and over.
I usually don't read others' reviews before posting my own, but I wanted to see if maybe I'd gotten a faulty copy of the book for whatever reason, but a few other people had the same issues as me with the spelling. I also found out that this book started in Wattpad - which explains a lot. I won't forgive the mistakes even more now, because I forgive the stories on those platforms for the writing mistakes because it's a starting point for people to put themselves out there creatively without being judged. But if you choose to publish - and charge people money to read your work - you need to invest some serious time and money into making sure the story is mistake free.
I was going to give this book 3 stars, because I liked the plot, but decided it was gonna be a 2.25 because of all the things I mentioned above. I hope to see this author progress as a writer and maybe even reprint this book in a few years with all the changes it needs. Will definitely keep my eye out for that.

I kind of liked the book, it's mostly like Wattpad combined into PDF and posted as a story, not edited at all and surely not structured enough. Things I liked: 1. Clarice- it has to be this kid, who I have loved since the beginning of the story 2. oh my freaking god, don't get me started about the whole post-it scenes of each and every day also the counting the seconds part whenever he was not talking to her. 3. The duo between father-daughter of Belinda-Mr. cooper. 4. THE DESPERATION of Jaggen Warner, OMFG it's everything, the going above and beyond with no limitations (also sometimes no self-respect)
What I didn't like: 1. the whole Polly and Matt scenes and their chemistry, it was just unnecessary 2. In so many scenes I hated Belinda because she was just way over the board with everything and it became irritating after some time.
I can’t figure out if this book was written by a teenager, someone whose first language is not English (which would change my review completely) or someone who has read too many werewolf books and wanted to write a billionaire romance (with the hulking form and flashing eyes and extreme bouts of rage and breaking marble).
I’m sorry, this is why I don’t read billionaire, sorry, trillionaire (he owns 70% of America?). So it’s basically a fantasy. I fell into this by a teaser on instagram, and the cliche super quirky and bright young assistant who fell into the job at 19 and the broody, Satan of an older boss, who she threatens to kill all the time just screams cliche. I know these books are all the same. I get it, but at least make the female character powerful. Sure she’s a quirky bright mother with a cake blog, but does her internal monologue have to sound like a teenager? Ever dialogue is sounds like I used to think adults spoke like, full and extremely proper sentences, and then next minute she’s sounding like a bratty 12 year old. Really liked the idea, but the writing fell flat. But perhaps if this is your vibe; then sure. But I can guarantee you, it does not need to be this long. And heaven forbid, whoever thought that REPEATEDLY saying ‘veiny hands’ was attractive needs to be assessed. Now that I’ve read it and thought about it, still can’t figure out why I read the whole thing.
The story has a potential BUT it got boring because of the author repeatedly saying he has a blue eyes, he growled like an animal, how possessive he is + this P is mine Hopefully the next books won't be this long and with better plot twist
I remember first reading this on Wattpad and thinking this is the best workplace romance book I've read like ever!! Billie, Jagger and Clarice have my whole heart 😩
Billie is such an icon. I love her defiant, stubborn behavior and I laugh every time she does her usual antics to piss off Jagger. Jagger Warren...the man that you fucking are!! He was an asshole in the earlier chapters, but when all is revealed, I swooned. He's super attentive to his girls and he deserves all the good things in this world. Clarice is the cutest space princess and I bawled my eyes out when she got teary-eyed because Jagger gifted her a pink planet.
It bothered me a bit that the scene where they first said I love you wasn't in the book and that it immediately transitioned to the school play, but that didn't deter me from reading. I just love this book so much and I could spend hours on end talking about this 🤩
PS. I hope the other Warren brothers get their own stories 🫶🏻

Ever since i read fairytale green i fell in love with the story, with how possessive stone was with ella and how heart melting their love was and I thought i won’t find a book that gave me the same vibes and warm feelings so i reread fairytale green again to fall into the mmc’s beautiful universe once more until i discovered the firing line.
Kayla silvers, your books really entertain and capture me. They fill the void deep inside my heart. They’re well written and well thought that no matter how long they’re i still love them dearly and enjoy them and wish that i don’t finish them as i don’t want to end these wonderful, warm adventures.
My love for your books began with fairytale green and it grew even more now with the firing line and i just want to say that i love your books so much and i can’t wait for more amazing books from your creative mind very soon i hope.
Keep writing, for I’ll always read your creations no matter what you write. ♥️♥️♥️
( it may seem that it took me a lot of time to finish this book but that happened just because I didn’t want to part with this wonderful novel just yet ♥️ )
Jagger gave it his all and got his woman! I would have loved to see some chapters from Jagger's POV to make the story more enjoyable. He was so smitten with her, it would have been nice to see how he fell for her, his thoughts on her leaving, his thought's on winning her back, plus his attachment to Clarise. A lot of similar parts where Billie keeps saying she's leaving and he just keeps repeating that he's not letting her go. As much as I loved his possessiveness, it got old eventually. I loved what he did for her by bringing her to visit her parents and giving her that time with her family. I loved how patient he was with Clarise and the bond they built.
All that being said, they errors/typos in this book is ridiculous!
This was a slow burn but it was done right. I normally hate them and get annoyed that things are taking forever to get interesting but this story had humor that kept me engaged. I love love love Jagger and the development of his and Billy's relationship. The context clues were amazing and I got excited when everything was revealed. This book could have gone through another round of editing. And I understand that no book is perfect but I kept getting distracted by incorrect words in the wrong spot. But I read the whole thing and am dying to see what happens with Jaxon.
This could be a great book if it had been edited at all. I don’t mind some grammar errors but you can’t go a page without sentences just not making sense at times.
And it’s fine to give a character a “thing” but I don’t need to hear every two sentences how she loves horror films and baking . It felt forced. And I feel like this author never watched a horror film a day in her life and decided to give this trait to her FMC. The MMC is nothing like Bates but she calls him that all the time .
It did not need to be this long it was just back and forth. Also wth was up with her wardrobe I didn’t understand it all and I don’t wish to understand it
Kayla Silvers, you might be my new favorite author. 4.5 stars 🌟 i rate purely on vibes and this was the best experience ever.
is this book long? yes (its like 700 pages) was it addicting? also yes.
i genuinely don't care what anyone says, i ATEEEE this book up. ugh maybe i should go back to reading Wattpad books because clearly this Wattpad book is the only thing bringing me joy this year.
this book was gruesomely long and repetitive and draggy but did i love it? yes, yes i did. this book follows Belinda who works for an asshole, Jagger for years but she is planning on quitting. in planning to do so, Jagger infiltrates her life and makes her stay with him forever 🤤
i think i love when a man SHOWS his obsession more than when he SPEAKS it, and boy oh boy does Jagger showwww it. i also love a quiet man and he was exactly that. his obsession with Belinda was hidden under wraps but once she threatens to quit on him, he goes ballistic and inputs himself in every aspect of her life, refusing on letting her leave him. i just love when he would force her to stay and his vulnerability when he asks her not to ever leave him. UGH i just love a quietly obsessed man but once you unwrap him, you definitely see just how OBSESSED he is with his woman. AND how he treats Belinda's child like his own??? how he loves both the mother and daughter and says that they are his family?? how he would do literally anything for them?? ugh Jagger just might be my dream man. i would gladly take all of his grumpy obsession anyday! don't get me started on his brother, Jaxon. it was teased in this book that Jaxon and Polly will have their own book and i literally cant handle my excitement!!
yes, it had a million grammar and spelling mistake and could've been shortened by 200 pages but it was truly my comfort read. everything about Jagger and how he treats Belinda with so much care and caution and love truly melted my heart. i need to find more of these books on Wattpad bc the published ones have not been doing it for me so far...
safety (from what i remember): single mom/assistant x grumpy obsessed boss, no owd, H celibate for ~5ish years after meeting the heroine for the first time, H only has eyes for the heroine, H obsessed with the heroine for years, slight omd
This author shows incredible potential. A lot of spicy romance these days seems very NoSQL/algorithm constructed from a bunch of shit an author found appealing from writing prompts on TikTok. This book isn't like that. You can tell the author is actually interested in the story she has to tell.
However; this is a first draft. At best. It hasn't been proofread, let alone edited. There are spelling errors, continuity errors, and factual errors. The author has not bothered to do the most basic research about the defining interests of the protagonist. She didn't bother to check the year Human Centipede was released. Only the faintest slithers of baking instruction have been included, and they do not ring true. You can't whisk a batter with flour in to get your stress out, you'll end up with bread.
Billie is the only actual character in this book, and she is not sufficiently developed. Clarice is a prop. Most other characters merely exist to showcase Jagger's domineering nature. Jagger Warren is not a character, but a vessel to deliver tropes and fantasies. He is a possessive husk. I find it difficult to believe that he's a business genius (as we are told) when he lacks any perceptible intellect or tact. I don't believe he can hold down a job, let alone be a "trillionaire" (lmao).
There is also no discernible development in their relationship. Their dynamic does not shift throughout the entire course of the book. They have Sweet Fuck All in common beyond attraction.
I wouldn't read this again, nor would I recommend it to anyone else; but I will look out for this author in future. I think she's only going to get better with experience, and a lot of these issues could've been very easily resolved with an editor or a writers group.
I hated this book!! Both MCs are intolerable and gave me a bloody migraine!! FMC's been unprofessional since the beginning and I hate OTT characters, no matter how quirky they. I like quirky but good characters and Belinda was not at all. As for the MMC, what is he?? A human being or a gorilla x Tarzan mutant??!! Always grunting around instead of using coherent human language words!?!? The plot could have been amazing with opposite characters but the story went to trash the moment the FMC stated that she only dresses trashy(and she knows it) because she hates the boss. Where's the professionalism? If she was so driven only for her kid could she have really afforded to even think about such stupid idea? That's not how a single mother would ever think!! I hated it!! And the over the top description of the MMC's world wide wealth is annoying AF and effing cringe. Grunting and grunting and grunting...............WTF??!! The lines.......effing repetitive. The whole book........gone downwards to hell. The author needs to develop good characters and their characteristics. Just being ''quirky'' is not enough to be a good FMC and just being ''silently possessive'' is not enough to be a good an MMC.
Reasons for 2 stars: 1. This book certainly has a potential but, the story drags on longer than it should. I swear most of time I skimmed through the unnecessary details and focus mainly on the dialogue.
2. The way MMC acted with the alpha-male territorial behavior made me cringe and it is super super ANNOYING. There, I said it.
3. The Portrayal of FMC felt lacking.
4. I noticed a lot of spelling errors, sentence repetitions, and missing words.
p/s: For someone who went to military school and claimed that he can cook, he don't know how to crack an egg properly? I mean, sir, have you never cooked egg in your entire life or at least saw how people normally done that? I doubt that. And poor Henry, the bird when you lobbed on its head with that large piece of bread. The reason that I managed to finish this book only because of Clarissa. I deserve a cake for this.
This book is one of the most funniest book I've ever read. I really loved the banter between Jagger and Belinda. I really loved Belinda's sense of humor so much. I am really waiting for Jaxon's and Polly story, if there is one. But, it is really hard to be on the sidelines and watch the person you love already in a relationship. I need to give that to Jagger and Jaxon for that.
I am a goner for boss-employee books and with grumpy-sunshine, I am a double goner. I really wished this book has Jagger's POV. I highly recommend this book if you looking for male who is obsessive, possessive and jealous and looking for a romantic comedy.
DNF is one of the most boring books i’ve read this year (and i’ve read a lot of s) the guy has no abilities beyond grunting and growling, and the girl is felt like the story went nowhere even after half the book went down. seriously they had come nowhere after kissing and hooking up once. the guy had to know her daughter, hook up w her, talk to her about how he wanted to date her multiple times and she STILL called him by his last name and kept pretending they were nothing but boss-employee. i hated her
I really hope that the Warren brothers get their own series and is it wrong of me to hope that Polly and Jaxon get together even tho it said that Matt and poly had twins , idk how tho , it was very wrong of him to go behind her back and get a visectomy tho , but other than that I love this book whole heartedly, from finding it on Wattpad a while ago and re read it like it was everything and nothing , this book and fairytale green both have a very special place in my heart 💚

I honestly don't remember last time I've read a book that the plotline made me so captived entire time while reading it and just couldn't get enough. The book is not necessary the best book I've ever read but the plotline keeps you going and It's so interesting, and I really like that there's in both main characters backstory and development of their character
i first started this book on wattpad then it was taken from me. i then bothered my mom about my search for it. a 40 minute journey ensued. trials and tribulations. then i found it! the kingdom rejoiced! it might look like it took me 18 days to read it. but don’t be fooled. i took a break from it because of a slump. it actually took 3 real days to read. i love this book!!!
It’s an ok read. Mostly I loved jagger’s obsessive nature and Clarice cuteness. Nothing new about the plot, I have already came across same boss and secretary’s books. It’s too lengthy and came across some poorly written lines. Ok smexy scenes.chemistry is good between mc’s.
