This story is a bonus novella for the Fixer Upper Romance Series, and occurs at the same time as Hot Rod Hookups.
Let me say this first: I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.
This is a short, sweet and, at times, hilarious story.
READ THIS BOOK! But first, read Hot Rod Hookups! Actually, read the entire series; it will be well worth your while. That’s how you get to know the characters and, believe me, you want to know them! Each book in this series is better than the others.
Melanie and Christopher are newly engaged and planning their wedding… but neither of them have had sex before. First, Melanie asks her brother, Shawn, about it and then she googles it. (Too bad Google didn’t exist when I was young!)
I laughed out loud when reading this book. It was too funny.
I had gone into this pretty blind. I was expecting it to be a pretty smutty book but it was actually pretty wholesome and I would recommend it for people who are learning more about sexual relationships. Especially women coming from conservative households who haven’t explored intimacy with others and don’t know where to start! It’s a very enlightening story and super sweet! Also, her brother Shawn is the GOAT in this story, all the uncomfortable conversations he has with his sister! He deserves a medal! LOL
I read this story as part of the entire series just to finish the series. It was a cute extra addition although it could not snag my attention, Melanie wasn't an interesting character to me in the previous book so reading this one with her as the MC was ok but nothing more than that. I didn't know her or Christopher enough to care about the story but that's mostly me. I need my build up to get me involved.
The series was really cute. Although this book was kind of not the ending I was expecting. I do appreciate the author capping the level of smut, but out of all the books this one really should have been well detailed. The first to me seemed more in depth than this one. It left no rock unturned and no detail left forgotten, but I just felt it was missing some pizzaz. There was definitely missed opportunity.
I found it to be a sweet, cozy story and has elements that could appeal to everyone. I read this one first out of the ones in the series. I appreciated the comedy in between certain moments and the back and forth between Melanie and her brother had me chuckling. I really liked the line “anger was just one small sliver of the angst pie baking in her heart”. lol. And “you eat bananas, right?…well, just like that except without the biting”. 👌🏻😂
This bonus story revolves around Shawn's younger sister Melanie who's about to marry her long time beau, Christopher. It made me chuckle in so many places and brought back awkward memories of being a teenager and wondering how sex really works. It was a fun little bonus to add to the three cute stories that preceded it. It's a Hallmark movie with an extra side of spice!
