When Kate accidentally strands the Grim Reaper in Hallow Hills, things get weird…
Well, Nyx denies he’s the actual Grim Reaper, but tomato, tomahto, right? As it turns out, she can learn a lot from the guy, provided he’s properly fed and entertained. Who knew someone like Nyx could develop a reality television addiction?
Even worse is her mother showing up unexpectedly on her doorstep and Nyx’s newfound fascination with the newest member of the Grimshaw clan.
As if an infatuated Reaper wasn’t enough to deal with, Kate accidentally sucked all the spirits right out of town during her last case, technically putting her out of a job. But one stayed behind and is causing enough havoc to turn Hallow Hills upside down. Until she figures out exactly what she’s dealing with and gets control of her new and unpredictable powers, chaos will run amok.
With Kate pulled in all directions, something has to give. But will it end in heartache or something even worse?
Welcome to Hallow Hills, a cozy town with supernatural secrets and residents brimming with magical powers!

The Grim Sweeper was such a fun book, but I wanted to throw it across the room when left with those last couple chapters and the delightful cliffhanger at the end. Interpret the sarcasm where necessary.
I'll for sure be reading the next installment, but a little heads-up would've been nice about this one, and then I would've waited until the next book is ready.
Kate is living in magical Hallow Hills, where she has created a new life as a ghost medium, of sorts. She sees, speaks, and interacts with ghosts and sends them on to their final resting place. Sounds strange, right? But with the magical characters of Hallow Hills, she really fits right in and likes her life there. Until her mom shows up with bags and a plan to stay with her. Gulp. 😱
Magical intrigue and mayhem is afoot when something unexpected and dark interrupts her lunch with police boyfriend Ryan is injured by an unknown dark magical power, and he ends up in a local hospital. More maniacal mayhem occurs when a second dark entity masquerading as a doctor (NOT a doctor) attempts to kidnap Ryan and he and Kate manage to escape, though Ryan has an injury that is frightening and he must confront his own internal demons in order to heal.
The story ends on a cliffhanger (never a fav) with Kate embroiled in some quite difficult circumstances due to her magical heritage - seems unfair since she was raised with little knowledge of her magical abilities or how to deal with them. Intriguing new friends enter the story, wild and whimsical witch Sorcha among the cast, and Max, Kate’s birth father (hard to say if he is a friend, more family - and of course we can’t choose our family…).
An enjoyable story, a fascinating series and a totally worthwhile read.
I find it amazing that so much can happen in such short books and nothing seems to be missed. Thoroughly enjoyable. Kate’s life is definitely not boring, Nyx is possibly the Grim Reaper, her mother has come to town, her long lost father is going to be her trainer and another dark entity has arrived. On a lunch date with Ryan, they meet up with another entity, (Nyx’s ex-wife Pru), who basically meets them and leaves. When leaving she blows out a window causing Ryan to be injured. This leads to the fact that he has some dark magic left in him. And that’s just the beginning. This book doesn’t have much action, but there are several spirits sent away. More is learned about everyone’s background. It’s a quick, easy read and ends with another sort of cliffhanger. One thing I just loved is when Kate has to send back the spirit of a horse, the door that opens, opens to a Rainbow bridge. Just fantastic.
Although after reading the book I have to wonder is Ryan was acting all along. Did he really like Kate or was she just an assignment? In this book more spirits get released. You meet a former love of Nyx. Kate finally meets her dad in the flesh. After learning Kate's mom is very powerful I'm surprised she didn't teach Kate more. In fact, I have so many questions about her mom! More than answers. We also meet a healer who may be moving to Hallow Hills. And the sweet, eclectic Irish woman, Sorcha. Okay, I have to dig into the next book.
Okay, now I am completely hooked in the story and characters. I just wish this had been longer. Poor Kate has her hands full of all kind of magical attacks and even demonic ones. Sorcha is an Irish witch and even though she is rough around the edges, she is Kate's new friend and a hoot. Unfortunately she also has met Roman Carr after he arrests her to trip up her mom!
More colorful characters, how will we ever keep them in order, go for it KATE
Does Kate now have more friends than enemies, who knows. Has Kate lost Ryan forever or will her new found family help her to find him. Tune in to the next exciting book to get it all sorted out. Kate is surrounded by so many powerful people, but friends or foe, we must read on..
I didn’t think this book was as exciting as previous books in this series, but it was still good. Kate has definitely made some interesting friends in this book and possibly some enemies. I did think it was interesting that the black hat agency was mentioned in this book and now Kate is in trouble with them. I will definitely be reading the next book in the series.
This book is beyond excellent, and the writer is superior in weaving details, twists, and turns in the story. Deception of characters and introduction of new characters. This is the best series I have ever read of this type of mystery.
I've followed Kate every step of the way with each book. I can't wait until the next one and what happens to her friends. It looks like she is really in a jam this time.
So many twists and turns. Keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting for another shoe to fall ! Can't wait for the next one ! By the way thank you for your service from another military family.
This is a good read. We learn more about power, about Ryan, about an Irish witch, about Nyx and Killian and about Kate’s Mom and Dad. It is exciting. Looking forward to the next book.
Shocking things, shocking things.. and one bitter, humiliating, shocking betrayal. If he ever tries to come back, I hope he gets a brutal beat down and tossed someplace very, VERY hot and sulphuric!
Again I am enjoying this series. I just breeze on through reading them. Looking forward to to picking up the next book. I just know I am going to hate it when it comes to an end. Thank you.
I absolutely love this series! Every book has piqued my interest! You can only read so.much romance and thrillers that a cozy mystery is just my cup of tea!
New characters were interesting and lots of drama! Hoping next book fixes relationship issues with Ryan. Enjoy the mystery solving. Cliffhanger was a surprise!
