Synopsis: The Greek gods have fallen, cursed to live as immortal humans who repeatedly resurrect, and become a notorious crime syndicate. Hades, now Haiden, has become obsessed with a lonely human girl who yearns for connection and a better life. Faced with challenges like a psychotic Persephone and a rival crime family, can Haiden and Katrina overcome their beginnings to get their happy ending?
Review: I found the plot of Wicked Seeds really interesting. I knew it was a Greek mythology retelling but wasn't sure how involved that part of them would be, and aside from some characteristics and aesthetics, the modern gods basically stand on their own. Haiden is a grumpy, lonely, gothic man who begins stalking Katrina when he stumbles upon her book shop. The book quickly moves from a stalker romance to a forced proximity situation. I really enjoy the chemistry between Haiden and Kat, and do think that they fit so well together, but Kat definitely does move past certain events sooooo quickly that it's almost unbelievable. I would have enjoyed this book more if Kat weren't so quick to forgive and forget, even though I understand why she is so desperate for connection. She has genetic hearing loss and wears hearing aids, which is wonderful disability rep, and it's genuinely so sweet when Haiden learns sign language for her. If I had to pick a favorite scene, it would be the pool cue scene because... iykyk. This is definitely a two on the spice scale for me, because scenes are limited and relatively tame compared to what I normally read. There's mafia action, torture, a horror movie date, a moat, and so much more. There's also an incredibly charming Charon-turned-Charlie that I would loveeee to read a book on. Overall I do recommend this book, even if it was a touch clumsy at times, and really look forward to the next series installment which will focus on another of Hades' family members.
