Haiden Cursed long ago and doomed to live amongst mere mortals, I’d given up hope of a normal life. Violence ruled my head, and my heart belonged to someone I despised. Everything else seemed futile. Until I met her. One look at those deep, azure eyes and lightly freckled skin, and I was obsessed. This fallen God of the Underworld will stop at nothing until he claims her as his own, no matter the cost. Katrina Snow would have my soul in a heartbeat. If I only had one to give.
Katrina Doomed to live a lonely existence, full of misery, I’d given up hope of a happy life. Despair ruled my head, and my heart belonged to nothing and no one. My only source of pleasure was my books. Until I met him. One look at those haunted, cerulean eyes and tattooed skin, and I was possessed. He will stop at nothing till he has me, and I don’t know whether to run from his darkness or embrace it. I know there’s a soul in there somewhere. I just have to bring it out of him.
Author This novel contains strong language/violence/spicy scenes/ dub/con scenes. Not suitable for my dad and under 18's
L. Bromley is an author of dark fantasy romance novels, injected with a healthy dose of historical fiction, steamy scenes and dark themes for good measure. The stories tend to focus on feisty, intelligent women, and the morally grey men who will move Heaven and Earth to protect them. Whilst some aspects of the novels are intense, humour and HEAs are a given!
A huge nature lover, she volunteered with the reptile and amphibian section at a Zoo for several years, aiding with conservation of several species, and is an avid birdwatcher. She lives in a small seaside town in Devon UK with her husband and loves nothing more than a good Sauvignon, crystal meditation, beachcombing and playing with her kitten, Shrimp.
A must read for anyone looking for a fresh take on the classic Hades and Persephone retelling!
*****Possible spoilers ahead!*****
As a lover of Greek mythology and fantasy romance novels, this book was right up my street. I particularly enjoyed seeing the Greek gods as a mafia-esque crime family ruling over the dark underbelly of upperclass London, as it was something I had never imagined, but it worked surprisingly well. It was interesting to see how the well known attributes of the gods spilled over into their mortal personalities, with Hades/Haiden being the archetypal emo bad boy complete with facial piercings and leather boots. Persephone as the villain rather than an innocent corrupted by Hades was a refreshing take, although I feel like her back story could have been fleshed out a bit more. I'm hoping this leaves scope for a possible prequel🤞🏻
The main character/love interest Katrina is your typical fantasy heroine - shy, retiring, and a little odd but with an undercurrent of strength that shines through. I did find her a bit too forgiving of Haiden at times, although I can't say this this is entirely unrealistic. Big props to Bromley for her representation of someone struggling with genetic hearing loss. It added a lot of nuance to the character without it being one of her most defining features, although she definitely felt it was at times. I loved the meta moment at the end when you realised that she'd written a version of her story!
Overall, I really enjoyed this book, although I did think the relationship developed very quickly. I think more of a slow burn could have been a bit more exciting. That being said, that scene in the kitchen where they shared their first real intimate moment was amazing!
I also loved the relationship between Kat and Charon turned Charlie. Consider this my official request for a spin off Charlie novella!
The songs from the playlist being peppered through the story was a touch of brilliance. I made a point to listen to the songs whenever they came up, and it totally added to the atmosphere of the read.
The mystery cliffhanger ending really cemented it for me - I can't wait for the next instalment!
Finally, just a special mention for one of my favourite lines I’ve read in a while - “he’s barely out of the woods, and I already climbed him like a tree” 😂

•3✨️, 2🌶 •Modern Greek Mythology Retelling •Hades x Human FMC (M/F) •Mafia Romance
Synopsis: The Greek gods have fallen, cursed to live as immortal humans who repeatedly resurrect, and become a notorious crime syndicate. Hades, now Haiden, has become obsessed with a lonely human girl who yearns for connection and a better life. Faced with challenges like a psychotic Persephone and a rival crime family, can Haiden and Katrina overcome their beginnings to get their happy ending?
Review: I found the plot of Wicked Seeds really interesting. I knew it was a Greek mythology retelling but wasn't sure how involved that part of them would be, and aside from some characteristics and aesthetics, the modern gods basically stand on their own. Haiden is a grumpy, lonely, gothic man who begins stalking Katrina when he stumbles upon her book shop. The book quickly moves from a stalker romance to a forced proximity situation. I really enjoy the chemistry between Haiden and Kat, and do think that they fit so well together, but Kat definitely does move past certain events sooooo quickly that it's almost unbelievable. I would have enjoyed this book more if Kat weren't so quick to forgive and forget, even though I understand why she is so desperate for connection. She has genetic hearing loss and wears hearing aids, which is wonderful disability rep, and it's genuinely so sweet when Haiden learns sign language for her. If I had to pick a favorite scene, it would be the pool cue scene because... iykyk. This is definitely a two on the spice scale for me, because scenes are limited and relatively tame compared to what I normally read. There's mafia action, torture, a horror movie date, a moat, and so much more. There's also an incredibly charming Charon-turned-Charlie that I would loveeee to read a book on. Overall I do recommend this book, even if it was a touch clumsy at times, and really look forward to the next series installment which will focus on another of Hades' family members.
CW's: stalking, poverty, animal cruelty off-page, violence, brief mention of self-harm, allergy event, sexual content, car accident, torture on-page, gun violence
I found this book interesting in its retelling of the Greek gods, especially with Hades and Persophone being portrayed as... not loving with one another at all. Personphone isn't the kind of villain anyone would vote for. Haiden and Katrina's story was enjoyable and I'm intrigued to see what comes next. Please message me here on Goodreads if you want a detailed list of TWs!
Loved this book Elements of romance, greek-gods, drama and crime.. tick tick tick! And there's a recommended playlist with the book too which I've not seen before - very cool.
Wicked Seeds is a gothic retelling of the Greek Gods that focuses on Hades and Persephone. Hades risked the Olympian Kingdom and tricked the fates, leading them to live a mortal life while being resurrected every time they died. Since they are Gods and all fearful, they chose to live their lives as mob bosses and the details of their lives were so interesting in how they were ruthless to maintain a mafia life.
Katrina is an English literature student who lives alone and works in her father’s bookshop which was passed on to her. Hades or Haiden enters her shop one day searching for an old book and finds her napping. Ever since they met, they couldn’t forget about each other. Being a ruthless man and creepy himself, Hades begins to stalk her. He tries to stay away from her to keep her safe from their enemies but finds himself unable to.
I enjoyed reading this so DAMN much! The gothic retelling was entirely fascinating and I absolutely loved how everything about Haiden and Katrina revolved around their love for gothic things. One thing that went directly to my heart and made me swoon was when Haiden learned sign language because Katrina has genetically deficient hearing loss. When she doesn’t wear her hearing aids, she can’t hear anything and Haiden learned to always be with her. This right here was the best scene for me in all of the book. Just imagining someone loving someone else this much that he or she learns sign language is utterly mesmerizing. I honestly can’t wait for the rest of the books in this series and I’m so thankful to Lydia Bromely for sending this ARC to me. 🔥 😻
His role in the crime syndicate has him warning her to stay away, between rival families and psycho ex’s it’d be in her best interest. But how can he keep away when she’s suddenly in need of protection.
I enjoyed the fresh take on the story, the god&goddess family tree vibe, but It’s the little changes that had me invested, the psycho-sephone situation especially.

Loving Greek Gods romancing and murdering in present time Hertfordshire! This book is intelligently written and the author has done their homework on transporting the Greek Gods to modern day times whilst remaining in character. I was also getting a Fifty Shades/Twilight/Beauty and the Beast vibe. I loved the fact that it has an accompanying playlist so the experience of reading the book is much more immersive. I look forward to reading the next in the series to see what journey we are taken on.
This was an interesting spin on how the Greek Gods are cursed to a mortal life and end up living in rural Hertfordshire, while heading their own criminal organisation.
This was a fun read for me as I like a bit of mythology and also a mafia trope so this linked both really quite well. Katrina (shy and sweet) and Haiden (moody and broody) fit so well together.
My first read by L. Bromley and I’d definitely check out future books from her! This one happens to end on a bit of a cliffhanger.
heavens. I definetely am not the target audience for this novel. After what felt like a rather boring first chapter, I went into the second one hoping to pick up interest, but after so many eye-rolls, I decided this was really not for me, so I dropped it. The writing style is not to my liking as it comes across as rather infantile and immature. I'm sure there's a huge audience for it out there, I'm just not part of it.
A fun take on some well known characters with a bit of spice! It was an easy read that kept me wanting to read more - it’ll be interesting to see where the series goes.
