A floating body, a missing person - even those who vanish leave a trail.
After solving the murder of his brother, Noah Sutherland takes on a new position near High Peaks, a ski resort town located in the Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York.
The idyllic setting is disturbed when a tourist pulls a bloated body from the lake, drawing attention to Katherine Evans, a missing residential counselor who disappeared a week prior. Is the body hers? And why wasn't she reported missing?
With the town attracting intense media attention, Sutherland searches for evidence that is shrewdly hidden and those who want to keep the motive buried.
As the investigation progresses and another person disappears, Noah and his team must quickly uncover the truth and bring the responsible parties to justice before more bodies appear.

Not a bad book. Bodies are found, murders are happening, dogs are being stolen and sold. A lot going on and for the longest time I wasn’t sure how they were related. Some things were left open for the next book in the series. My problem is I haven’t read the first book in the series and a lot of things and characters were alluded to with the assumption that the book was read. So I was often left floundering trying to figure out the back story.
3.5 I liked the characters and the story like but had some problems with keeping everyone straight. I haven't read the 1st in the series and this cast of characters will roll into the 3rd book (now we know about the mysterious house Noah was offered & some connection to relations.
I read the first book in the series and thought, “This might end up being a pretty good series.” Well, I was sorely mistaken! So far, the first two books have exceeded my expectations. The second book had my emotions working overtime as I was moving between happiness and complete sorrow. The mystery kept me guessing, and of course, I had guessed wrong.
The book started off well with an interesting storyline but it was hard to keep track of all the characters as some were peripheral and mentioned only at rare intervals. The first 2/3 of the book was quite readable but after that it faltered and some issues were unresolved at the end of the book, obviously in the hopes the reader would purchase the next book in the series.
Vanish from Sight by Jack Hunt is the 2nd book in the High Peaks Mystery series. Taking up a new position near High Peaks, Noah Sutherland is called to a body discovered in the lake which leads him to a school with secrets and missing dogs. There is a lot going on with Noah having to deal with family issues and dramas while trying to keep on top of all the deaths. Fast paced but we are left with a lot of unanswered questions. A captivating and thrilling mystery.
Vanish From Sight is a mystery with many angles. It is a difficult book to put down. Hunt refers back to book one just enough to explain his presence "back home" not to bore you with the same story told again. The reader stays on the edge of his/her seat to see what happens next.
Not the best of Jack Hunt. I wasn’t that intrigued and it certainly wasn’t a page turner. Had a lot of characters tho took some understanding. I like it better when it is simple and to the point. Way too many words to describe this story. Only at the end did it clarify. 3.8. That’s why this was a free book!
I enjoyed the book but at times I lost track of what was going on because there were so many plot lines. As an avid reader I usually follow just fine. I’m going to read the next one and see if I was just tired or it was a bit confusing.
On the first book was one incident after the other, without giving a clue as to who was to blame. This book started a bit slower but, like any good fisherman gradually reels you in. Absolutely brilliant. Well done Mr. Hunt can't wait for the next one.
I appreciate your ability to use descriptive language in your books. It is interesting and keeps the story moving. This is a great storyline and I look forward to the next in this series
Not a stone left unturned until the end. The least amount of suspicion on the killer or killers is left until the very end too. And then some left over ends that didn't get tied, but those are for the next story.
So many suspects it takes a good story to work through them all. Noah has come back to a real mess, family and otherwise and it looks like it will continue. What are they mixed up in ? Noah is sticking round to find out.
Lots of mystery and suspense at a very impressive private school as a secret from the past was about to be exposed. Murder and mayhem keep law enforcement working overtime as they work to prevent more deaths. An interesting story.
This book was a case of you guess where the problem is but you can't put your finger on it Usually I guess who the killer is early in a book but this kept me until the very end.
Lies and Secrets - Noah Sutherland's move back to his hometown has not only made his life more complicated, but may threaten his family. Excellent thriller.
I got this for free on BookBub and did not realize that it is a sequel. You don’t really need to read the first one and it’s so messy and also just not realistic at all. Do not recommend!
