Light-hearted and hopeful, this book is all about the main character's transformation from blind, sad child into a still partially blind, yet optimistic child.
Through ingenuity, hard work, and the endless, unexplored wonders of magic, Kunon inches ever closer towards his ultimate goal of seeing the world as everyone else does.
I thoroughly enjoyed seeing his industrious spirit of trial and error, and how his newfound optimism inspires everyone around him to work towards their own life goals. Dreams that were once forgotten are rekindled. Ambition is ignited. There seems to be a theme of cooperation and lifting each other up bubbling beneath the whimsical discovery of magic — I like that.
There's also a cool twist near the end of this volume. Adds more mystique to this already mystical world.
I recommend picking up this volume if you enjoy seeing characters experiment with a 'hard' magic system and generally whimsical vibes. It really helps that there's an ultimate goal that guides the whole story too.

A very interesting read. Finally a fantasy story where the protagonist is NOT a reincarnated iseki character who uses modern world knowledge to change things.
I was actually very delighted to follow Kunon growth through out the volume, going from depressed to reinvigorated when he realizes he can study magic to achieve his goals. He also doesn't start out OP like a lot of fantasy protagonists do, so you get glimpses into how he gets to where he does at the end of the volume and feel like there's so much more room for him to learn and grow from there.
If you're looking for a non-horny not-isekei fantasy slice-of-life story about finding goals and working toward the seemingly impossible with magic, this is a good story to read. I'm definitely looking forward to the next volume.

I love stories like this of somebody becoming inspired by the seemingly trivial and then using ingenuity to overcome great obstacles to their special goal. The book does a good job of getting into Kunon's head and showing his obsession in a positive rather than negative light.

Great volume
I like the flow of the storyline. No unnecessary context and straightforward points. Kunon is an interesting character. Ikko his maid made sure to support his goal. Everyone around him seem intrigued by his magic manipulation. Can't wait for next volume.

Pretty good. The first half or so of the book is fairly slow, but it picks up (in a weird way) near the end. I really want to read the next volume.

Honestly wasn’t expected that I would stick to this but it proved me totally wrong. I bought it initially because non-isekai/game setting but magical world fantasy story. Admittedly love how hopeful it is and how the stories of both the protagonists themselves and the world/setting continue to trigger our curiosity which twists view of magical logic. Great stuff!
