The Kissing Games #1

Kissing My Brother's Bride

Rate this book
My brother’s fiancée should have been mine.

Now, I know what you’re thinking, and it’s not quite as bad as it sounds. Linc was running late for their first date and he begged me to stand in until he could get there.

I only went to tell the girl to run. To warn her about my brother’s selfish ways and promise she wanted no part of it.

But then I saw her. The stunning woman with auburn hair, sky blue eyes, and freckles I wanted to memorize.

The hour I spent with Audrey was hands down the best date of my life. Until my brother showed up.

Now, I’m covering his butt again. This time at their wedding rehearsal, because Linc hasn’t learned a damn thing. Work still comes first and that says a lot, doesn’t it?

So, sure… I’ll hold Audrey’s hand at the altar. And I’ll look into her eyes and wish like hell she would realize she deserves so much more.

I should have told her to run that night two and half years ago. Because all I want to do now is what I wasn’t bold enough to do then…

Steal her away for myself.

*There is NO cheating in this book! Also, Kissing My Brother's Bride is Book 1 of the multi-author The Kissing Games series.

I wasn’t sure what to expect heading into this one. First up, there’s absolutely no cheating so I advise others to ignore the 1* trolls!

This was a really enjoyable read. Both Audrey and Liam were so likeable and in many ways relatable characters. Sure, Linc was a bit of a donkey, but I came around to him towards the end. The concept of found family was strong and hints at the other members of the wedding party getting it in have me wanting to read the other stories in this series when they are released and discover some new to me authors!

Thanks so much to Molly McLain for the early copy.

I was initially skeptical about the premise of this book, but I love everything Molly writes, so I dove in any way, and I am SO glad I did! Liam and Audrey are absolutely perfect for one another, and I just had the biggest smile on my face while reading!

So the book begins with Audrey getting engaged to Linc (Liams older brother), which in turns leads her getting left at the altar, and who is there to pick up the pieces? That's right, Liam, the one who's always been in love with her for the right reasons, and the brother she should have chosen all along. The way he always chose her, over everyone and everything else, just had my heart soaring. You could tell that these two had such a special friendship and connection (although I do wish we got more of their background, but only because I'm so greedy for this couple) and subconsciously, Audrey has always known that she's in love with Liam, but is afraid to actually be selfish and take what she wants due to her past trauma. Honestly, i wasn't expecting her back story to be so emotional, but I am so glad she fought for herself in such a beautiful and authentic way, and made sure Liam knew that it was always him, even if she had another's ring on her finger.

I was worried I would get an icky feeling while reading since the whole brother aspect, but this was just done SO well. I'm not completely sold on Linc, but I have a feeling his book will be coming, so I'm excited to see where that will take us. But there's no denying that Liam and Audrey were just made for each other! The way they were each others person, their rock, the emotional connection they had, and the pure friendship underneath just made them couple goals for sure! Plus the spice and the spark between them kept me glued to my kindle!

I just can't recommend this book enough! I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of this series even more now!

**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions **

Ever since this multi-author series was first announced, it became one of my most anticipated series of the year. Kissing My Brother's Bride by Molly McLain is book one of the Kissing Games, and despite what the title might imply, there is no cheating. The female main character, Audrey, is a jilted bride. Her ex-fiancé, Lincoln, always prioritized his work over her and was perfectly fine with this arrangement until the morning of the wedding, when he suddenly decides Audrey deserves more than that, so for her sake, he calls it off (how noble of him 🙄). Even more cowardly, he has his brother, Liam, break the news to Audrey (because, of course, he never made it to the venue).

This isn't the first time Linc has had Liam step in/up for him. In fact, this is how Audrey and Liam met; Linc was late for their first date, so he asked Liam to fill in for him. Liam only went to warn Audrey away from Linc, but once he saw her, he forgot about this plan and had a genuinely good time talking to her. Now, you would think Audrey would run far away from a man an hour late to their first date, but she thinks that's what she deserves after being the "reason" her parents died when she was a child.

Let me start with what I liked. I liked how supportive Liam and Audrey were of each other. Liam encourages her to apply to her dream job in his small hometown. This was such a sharp contrast between her previous relationship and this one. Lincoln had warned her against applying for this job because he didn't want to live in his hometown. Audrey is incredibly supportive of Liam's job as a firefighter at an underfunded fire station. I also liked the cast of secondary characters who will be getting their own books in this series. Audrey's sister, Charlie, and Lincoln's best friend, Spencer, get their happily ever after next.

I wish we had seen more of Audrey and Liam's relationship throughout the two and a half years they have known each other, or even had a better flashback to their first meeting, so we could have a more complete understanding of their history. I needed to see and feel the unrequited love for myself and how Liam secretly (or not so secretly) pined for Audrey. It's one thing to tell me but another to show me. I think this book did a lot of telling when it came to their history. I had a hard time believing in their connection, and maybe it would have felt less like insta-love this way. After the broken wedding, Audrey moves on extremely fast (so fast that it gave me whiplash just reading about it). She is the first person in her friend group to forgive Lincoln for how he treated her, which I suppose is consistent with her character. It felt like she recognized her feelings for Liam too quickly for me to believe them. Was there physical attraction? Absolutely. But I couldn't feel the emotional intimacy, even though they were also best friends. This is technically a slow burn, but it didn't read as one.

The animosity between the brothers (and its quick resolution) didn't make sense to me. It set up a redemption arc for Lincoln, but we aren't getting his story in this series. I also find it hard to believe that Linc and Liam's parents wouldn't have some type of intervention with Linc regarding his treatment of Audrey, if they cared about her so much. Even if they didn't want to lose her as a daughter, if they truly saw her as their daughter, they would have knocked some sense into their son. They are furious at Linc for ending things the way he did, but they can't be surprised.

Because Audrey's problem of taking less than what she deserves is so intricately linked to her parents' death, I think it would take more help for her to be able to fix this pattern of behavior. I wish we had seen her grapple with this more, because you don't cure ten years' worth of instinct in a couple months, nor do you do so without professional intervention. I'm glad that Audrey has the determination to turn her life around and start choosing herself, though.

Thank you to Give Me Books Promotions for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Kissing My Brother’s Bride by Molly McLain is the first book in the Kissing Games series. This is a series where each book is written by a different author. So Molly McLain, in my opinion, just kicked the series off on an extremely high note!

Audrey is facing the biggest weekend of her life. The weekend where she will become a wife, something she has always dreamed about. It’s supposed to be a happy weekend, so why is she feeling this isn’t a path she is meant to travel. And to make matters even worse, the groom is having the same feelings and is missing.

From the moment Liam laid his eyes on Audrey, he knew deep down in the pit of his stomach, this woman was put on this earth for him. She’s the one his soul calls out too. The only problem, she’s engaged to his older brother, Linc. The same brother who is currently missing from all wedding preparations. For now, he’ll stand by her side as the best friend. He’ll help her through the rehearsals and he’ll be her shoulder to cry one. He’ll be whoever she needs him to be, because she deserves someone who’ll put her above all others...

My Thoughts:

My heart is feeling all swoony right now! I just finished Kissing My Brother’s Bride and I knew while it’s still fresh in my head, I need to discuss this book! There were so many elements I loved about this slightly forbidden romance.

Audrey is a woman who cares about others feelings and comfort levels above her own. After the tragic accident that took her parents lives, she lived the remainder of her life trying to protect her heart from feeling that amount of pain again. Linc, her groom, is the person she sets her sights on. Linc lives his life trying to make his father proud, he spends the majority of his time in the office working. But this story isn’t really about Linc and Audrey. This may be mean to say, but both Linc and Audrey used one another as a crutch when it comes to this game of life.

That crutch wasn’t removed until one of them decided to throw caution to the wind. One decision literally has their lives spinning in the eye of a hurricane… The decision could’ve been a tragedy, but both parties saw it as a breath of fresh air. And a means to move on with both of their lives. After the whole wedding not happening, I have to say, I loved the maturity levels both Linc and Audrey showed in these moments. They could’ve lived life together, until their dying days… but they both knew that wasn’t fair to one another. I’m all about the drama, but I’m also all about settling matters with as much peace as possible.

And this is where Liam comes into the picture. Liam, as a hero, is going to be hard to top in this series. As of right now, he’s my favorite character! I love my heroes to be caring and considerate. I also love them to have a little alpha prowess in their dna. Liam has that in spades… over and over again! This man was their for Audrey from the first moment of heartbreak. And Liam’s feelings didn’t just show up out of the blue. From the moment this man was introduced in this novel, I knew he had this undeniable love for Audrey. A love that can’t be stripped away. Molly McLain showed that pure and gracious love so flawlessly. There were moments I wanted to reach into my kindle and hug this hunky firefighter. I hoped he would bide his time, because all good things come to those who wait. Throughout all the ups and downs Audrey faced, Liam was always in her corner offering her a hug or a smile. I literally can’t stop smiling and swooning over this man!!

Initially I rated this novel a four star rating…. But after looking back on all the wonderful moments in this novel and all the love that was shown over and over again between Audrey and Liam, I decided to rate this novel a full five stars! There is no denying that I loved the romance, but I also loved all the facets to this novel, from the forgiveness between brothers, to the undeniable love Liam and Linc’s mother showed Audrey. My heart feels so full after reading this novel. Honestly, I never wanted this one to end.

If you’re looking for a novel with a lot of heart and will keep you smiling throughout, definitely don’t hesitate to add Kissing My Brother’s Bride by Molly McLain to your kindles on release day!!

Review originally posted at https://smexybooks.com/2023/06/review...

I side-eyed the title of this book when I first saw it, and then after realizing it was part of a series, by different authors, revolving around a wedding gone bad, I read the blurb multiple times to see if it would be something I would enjoy. I REALLY wanted to dive into the rest of the series with all their different tropes and shared characters, so I went ahead and gave it a try.

Despite the title, this isn’t a cheating romance. Let me repeat, there is no cheating. When the book opens it introduces Audrey, her boyfriend (soon-to-be fiancee) Linc, and her BFF/his brother Liam. The dynamics of their relationship are messy. Linc is addicted to his job and when running late on their first date, asked his brother to stand in for him until he could make it, and Liam and Audrey form a bond that has lasted them through his unrequited love and the two-and-a-half years of her relationship with his workaholic brother. But now it’s wedding time and everyone is in Florida…. except for Linc.

I was prepared for some uncomfortable scenes, especially since this is a romance about a woman being left at the alter by one brother and turning to the other for comfort. But there wasn’t any. Right from the beginning I could sense that Audrey and Liam should have been the couple all along. This author does a good job of showing their already close, caring relationship and the concern Liam has for Audrey’s well-being. Of course, as the series title suggests, there is a kiss between them that finally steers their relationship from BFFs to lovers, but the process does take time. Okay, a month or so, but still not right away. Audrey has a tragedy in her backstory that led her to stay with Linc despite the differences in their personalities and what they want their future to look like. I’ll let you discover the reasons for yourself.

I will say that I did enjoy Liam and Audrey, the care they have for each other, and the thoughtfulness they give to what others will think of them seeing each other after the ending of her relationship with Linc. This is definitely not my favorite trope, but I do think it works here.

There is quite a bit of setup for the rest of the series. I’ve read the blurbs for all the books, which feature so many beloved romance tropes that I am giddy. Enemies to lovers, marriage in trouble, and unrequited love to name a few. I’m in the middle of the next book, Kissing the Rival, and enjoying it quite a bit. The chemistry is off the charts between Charlie and Spencer and I think I’m almost to the part where they finally give in and rip each other’s clothes off. I’ll let you know.

In the meantime, Kissing My Brother’s Bride is a sweet, sexy romance that kicks off the Kissing Games series really well. I’m already looking forward to reading each book in the series when they release.

Final grade- B

I was not 100% sold on the premise of this book, but dang! I am glad I read it anyway. I am a HUGE fan of Molly's and really was skeptical but I figured if anyone could do a story like this and make me love it, Molly could. I loved Audrey. My heart broke for her and I know how it can be to give up your wants for someone else. Liam. Oh boy... Liam. Everyone needs a Liam in their life. I loved the characters and the small town feel. I especially loved the way that Molly handled the subject matter. Even if you are on the fence, give this one a shot. You'll be glad you did.

Ohhh this story. As it evolved it became more and more fun to read. And I adore Audrey and Liam. I like going into a story not really sure what is going to happen. And then this happens and melts and makes my heart so happy. I can’t wait to read about the other characters in this series either!! So much fun of a series!

I wasn't really that into this storyline. I started this because I noticed it was the first one on this series, I just hope that the next one is better because I have the physical copy of that one.

As with all of Molly’s books, I really enjoyed this one! I was a little unsure with the title that maybe it was going to go a direction I wouldn’t like, but she wrote Audrey and Liam’s story perfectly!
Can’t wait to read the next one!
And thank you to Molly for choosing me to be on the ARC team!

This book was everything I hoped it would be and more. I loved every second of Liam and Audrey’s relationship. The storyline was so great and I was so emotionally invested with all of the characters. They each had their own unique personalities and they were all so much fun to read about. This was a slow burn romance but totally worth it. I can’t wait to read more about these characters. Highly recommend!

He's a catch- throw his brother back!

We can't all meet Mr. Wonderful but she met him before she said yes to his brother.

KISSING MY BROTHER'S BRIDE is a swoony beat friends turned more story and contrary to the title there is no cheating (for all those worried about it!).

She met a man and agreed to a date. His brother showed up instead. That should have been their start instead her date eventually showed. If she had listened to her heart instead of her head, this book wouldn't have been. Fortunately Ace, Audrey to everyone else, learns to listen to her heart and embrace life instead of living what she thinks she deserves.

KISSING is a sexy, sweet happily ever after with a bit of objectifying fictional fire fighters (you know you are in on that alone!) and all the kitty jokes!

Learn to love Calloway as much as Liam and Audrey do. Here's hoping for more in the future!

Also please be advised not all champagne makes panties fall off. With my own limited taste tests, I believe that Audrey may have been wrong on that! 😉🤣

Tallulah Hayes is the best friend of Olivia Stone. Wife to Zach, casino owner, and sister to Rex, the head of security at said casino. The two women have been tight since what feels like forever. Tallulah has not had it easy in life she has never really known her father and her mother is a real piece of work. If anyone seriously looked at that situation they would think that
Tallullah is the parental figure between the two of them. The book opens with her being pulled into her manager's office for putting her hands on someone who had put his hands on her without permission.

She had been harassed over and over again and management had been doing nothing about it This time when she handled it herself with the younger male employee he said, No he wasn’t punishing her he was letting her go. He felt Jay was young and had a bright future, and sticking him with a sexual harassment charge just wouldn’t help a kid with a bright future. She had just had her monthly expenses. So, she punched her now ex-boss, too. After talking it out with both Olivia and Zach. “I might be able to move in with her for a bit,” I said lamely.

“Zach.” Olivia’s voice was shrill, and there was no misinterpreting her intent. “Take a breath,” Zach said calmly, rubbing his hand over his wife’s back. “Just sip your tea.” “You can’t move in with your mother.” “I don’t have a lot of other options. The severance would have gotten me another six weeks in my place, but that’s not going to happen now.” “Well, then you’re going to have to be open to accepting help.” “I’m not a charity project.” “Olivia is going to melt down if you don’t take a breath and open yourself up to other possibilities.

Now, I need you to be serious for a second and talk to me as if I’m an adult.” “Then don’t talk to me as if I’m a child,” she muttered under her breath. “Sorry. I’m used to putting out small fires in the casino all day. I forget sometimes.” “I’m sorry. It’s just been a rough day.” “I know.” “You need a job. There are openings in various bars and restaurants here.” She was thrown. “You want me to work here?” “If you want to work at this bar, I can arrange it,” he assured her. “I know the sports bar in the high rollers section of the casino needs a server, though.”

“The tips there are pretty solid.” “Aren’t those positions coveted by other servers already entrenched in the Stone ecosystem?” He shrugged. “Yes, but I’m the boss. What I say goes. I can get you the job.” “But…” She chewed on her bottom lip. “Won’t the other workers hate me?” He shrugged. “Does it matter?” “Um, yes. Anywhere I’ve worked, half the people have always loved me, and the other half have always hated me. I like that balance. It tells me who the good people are. If I take that job, everybody is going to hate me.”

“I can’t pretend to understand the politics of that,” he admitted. “I don’t really care either, and I don’t see where you have a choice. This is the sort of job that could change your life. You would be able to pay your rent and save up a nest egg in short order.” “Nest eggs are nice,” Olivia enthused. “I didn’t know how nice until Zach and I got together.” “It’s not a good feeling to always fear that you’re going to be homeless … or that you’re going to have to move in with Sharon.” “This job will save you.” “It will at least give you breathing room,”

Zach agreed. Olivia grinned. “Yay!” She did a hip shimmy on the booth seat. “This is going to be so great. I’ll be able to see you all the time now.” “We love you. We want you here. Sometimes, it’s okay to accept help. It doesn’t make you less than you want to be.” “It’s going to be great.” She didn’t feel it, but she knew it was the right response. “I can’t wait.” Enter Ronan Hawthorne. It turns out that on the way into the ladies' employees’ restroom, Tallulah literally runs into a brick wall that plows into her.

He had reached out to steady her saying how sorry he was, with an audible, “Crap!” at the end of it. Tallulah being her gentle self was annoyed. Her eyes were dark pits of annoyance as they locked with his. “Watch where you’re going,” she barked, straightening. “Geez Louise!” he pressed his lips together, caught between amusement and annoyance. Tallulah had always thrown around ancient sayings even back when we knew each other in high school. That was a long time ago—almost fifteen years, in fact—and he held his breath as he waited to see if she would recognize him.

Please don’t recognize me he prayed. He wasn’t that lucky, however. “Ronan?” Tallulah straightened, her hand immediately flying to her hair. “Ronan Hawthorne?” “Where… What… You…” She had questions, obviously, but didn’t seem to know where to start. “You didn’t see me?” Tallulah’s eyes scanned the floor. The years had been kind. Tallulah had always been beautiful. But they shared a past, and she knew his secret. He hadn’t lied on his application, but he hadn’t given them full disclosure when it came to whom it may concern as to who he was.

But it wasn’t just what family he came from that irked Tullulah it was prom. Find out the connection and if they can get past it, and if his explanation will make a difference in both their futures.

Kissing My Brother's Bride, Book 1 of The Kissing Games series, was about 26-year-old Audrey Krause, a marketing director, and 25-year-old Liam West, a lieutenant firefighter.
Side Note: Let me be clear: despite the title, there was NO cheating in this story. NONE! Not by the former groom, not by the bride...and not by the brother of the groom with the bride. Also, yes, the FMC had been intimate with the MMC's brother. They had been living together and were engaged/in love, after all. However, they had not been intimate for more than two months prior to their wedding date.
Audrey was engaged to Lincoln West, Liam's older brother, and they were having a destination wedding. All the members of the wedding party and guests had arrived at the venue...except for Linc. He never showed up but sent a text message to his best man for him to tell Audrey she deserved better. Numb from the rejection and humiliation of being left at the altar, she got slightly drunk. When Liam went to check on her later, they both drank more champagne and before she knew it, she was kissing him...and he wasn't saying no. However, he did stop things before they went too far.
Liam and his brother didn't have the best relationship. They had spent years feuding between themselves, but Liam had no idea why Lincoln seemed to believe he (Lincoln) was better than him (Liam). All he knew was that his brother tended to look down on him no matter what he said or did, and it drove a wedge between them. Falling in love with his brother's (now ex) fiancee didn't help matters either.
After arriving back home, Audrey and Linc met up, talked things out, and they both agreed that his breaking things off was the right thing to do. They ended things in such a way that they remained friends. He left her in their home so she could pack her things in peace and move in with her sister. While she was doing that, Liam showed up to assist her. While together, he let her know he hadn't regretted the kiss they'd shared. But she wasn't ready to start a new relationship with anyone at that point, so she finished moving in with her sister, Charlie.
Although Liam and Audrey were "talking" about a possible relationship between them, neither one acted on it other than a kiss and hints. That went on for a full month from the date the wedding between her and Liam's brother fell through. It was almost two full months before they were intimate, and then a few more weeks before they went public with their relationship. However, before they could talk to his family about anything, Liam was injured while on a search-and-rescue call. Audrey got the news in the wee hours of the morning and she rushed to the hospital to be with him. Although he was not in too bad of shape, the doctors kept him overnight. He convinced Audrey to share his hospital bed (no spicy stuff now) for the night, which is where his parents found them the following morning...and so did Linc. It was a bad way for everyone to learn about their relationship, but there was nothing to be done at that point but to go forward.
There was a lot of angst and drama in this book. The author didn't rush the relationship between the two main characters, which was a nice change of pace, especially since Audrey had only recently thought herself to be in love with Lincoln, only to realize he wasn't the right West brother for her. It was nice to see them take their time and actually work through issues they all had as they would have in real life.
The characters were all well-rounded and mature, with room for each one of them to grow. Not just the main characters but the secondary ones as well. It was unusual for a romance novel to have a lot of conflicts but have no bad guys/gals and still be enjoyable. This story definitely fits that bill. Even the former fiance was a good guy. Thankfully, no one cheated on anyone. Although he called off the wedding, Lincoln didn't do so because of cheating on anyone's part. He just knew they were getting married for all the wrong reasons. Liam and Audrey never acted on their feelings until the wedding had been canceled...and then not until almost two months after the fact.
The emotions of the story were ample and had plenty of twists and turns. There was a bit of suspense that gave the book an added depth that kept the reader glued to the pages. All in all, it was a very well-written story that earned a five-star rating and a place in my Keeper for the Shelves collection.

I haven't read Molly McLain before, but I heard about the series, The Kissing Games as one of my favorite authors Kaylee Ryan is one of the authors writing for it, and it made me want to read them all. So, here we are.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Audrey and Liam. I enjoyed every moment and even though their relationship could be considered a little controversial Molly did a fantastic job of making you fall for their connection and their story. You felt their whole ride and all their mistakes and feelings, you could understand all the things they were going through and hope they could find a way to make it work and have all the pieces fit.

The characters were well-written and full of depth. Audrey is independent, loyal, loving, and smart. Liam is brave, strong, protective, and loyal (although it's understandable that, that comes into question). They have a great connection and when the thing that's been holding them back is no longer in the way, it doesn't take long for all that built-up chemistry to break out and consume them.

Not only are the main characters a joy to read and connect with but all the background characters are intriguing too. Since they are getting books too I can only say that Molly did a magnificent job bringing so much attention to them, all while making sure that the main focus stays on Audrey and Liam's relationship.

I really look forward to reading the rest of The Kissing Games if this is the first in the series I think it's going to be a very enjoyable read.

4.5 stars overall for Kissing My Brother's Bride.

Audrey is getting married and the weekend of her wedding she's beginning to question all of the things that have been nagging in her mind. She feels unsure about so many things but as she looks back at her past all she sees is the other mistakes she's made and how her judgment has regularly steered her wrong and hurt those around her.
"Bad things happen to the people I care about when I take more than my share."

Liam is supposed to watch his brother, Linc marry the woman he's been falling for from the moment he met her. What's worse is he met her first, technically. Yet again though Linc is being his usual selfish self. He hasn't even arrived the night before the wedding is supposed to take place. He wants nothing more than for Audrey not to marry his brother but he wants her to be happy so he'll stand aside like always.
'I'm just the guy who's been in love with her since the night we met.'

When Linc doesn't show up to the wedding and his groomsmen, including Liam, have to break the news to her that the wedding isn't happening. She feels like her life is falling apart. Her best friends and sister are by her side but it's not until Liam that she really sees what's right in front of her.
'That has me peering up at his face once again. His gorgeous eat-me-alive-with-those-feral-blue-eyes face.'

Liam can't believe he's finally getting a side of Audrey he never thought he'd see, but after a failed wedding to his brother he knows if they are really going to make it someday then he's going to have to be strong and do things right.
'I will her to understand the truth. Because I'll never leave her. She's one of my best friends, this girl. Linc may have backed out of their forever, but I never will.'

Despite what happened at the wedding that never was, Liam and Audrey's friendship doesn't falter. There is so much unresolved tension and questions and Liam refuses to let Audrey avoid what's between them. It's a lot to process, but Audrey can't deny any of the things that Liam says, or avoid her feelings for him.
"I'm never going to forget how you tasted, Ace. Don't bother asking me to try."

Navigating their families, friends, and Linc will be their biggest challenge; however, the risk could be worth it so they can get everything they ever wanted and needed in their lives.

Happy Reading.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

Audrey is a woman who has always dreamed about getting married. This weekend is her weekend and the one where she marries Linc. If you think she is the happiest girl in the world because of this, you would be wrong. She just has this gut feeling that this is not what she is supposed to be doing right now. To make it even worse though Linc is having the same feeling but instead of being there and seeing if it is just nerves for the both of them he is missing in action. Linc has a younger brother Liam and he knew the moment that he laid eyes on Audrey that she was the woman meant for him. But, she is engaged to his brother and off limits. However, the wedding is happening this weekend and he feels horrible for her that his brother who focuses on business like a mad man is missing. He decides that he will be whatever Audrey needs him to be that weekend. A best friend, the man to stand in in place of the groom at rehearsal, even the shoulder to cry on. I cannot say much more or I will give something away. I can say that I loved Audrey and Liam and this entire story. They will both steal your heart.
Audrey has lived through tragedy when her parents are killed and she vowed then to never let anyone in so much that they shattered her heart. Linc is the man she set her sites on. He is a man who lives his life trying to make his father proud. That means he spends the majority of his time at the office working. He is always working. I can say I wasn't much of a fan of Linc but that opinion changed sometime in the book. Laim is just so swoon worthy and I can't say enough good things about him. You will fall in love with him from the get go. It is a swoon worthy book and one you will not put down.

Kissing My Brother’s Bride by Molly McLain is a great friends to lovers romance releasing as part of the Kissing Games Series. Don’t get put off by the title, because there’s NO CHEATING involved! Audrey meets Liam when he fills in for his brother Linc on their first date. They get to know each other and form a lasting connection, while Linc is finishing up a work commitment. While they become best friends, Audrey continues a romantic relationship with Linc, when he can spare time for her away from work. Once they’re engaged, Audrey compromises many of her own dreams to fit Linc’s, then he fails to show up at the wedding. Liam is once again, there to pick up the pieces. As the fog lifts, Audrey realizes her reasons for staying in the relationship as long as she did had nothing really to do with Linc and that she was with the wrong brother all along.

I truly enjoyed this book! The characters were so compelling, and the approach to the premise was unique. I loved the way Audrey and Liam met, and Liam had me swooning throughout the story. Audrey’s backstory broke my heart and explained so much about her personality. I enjoyed the found family themes, as well as the drama, twists, banter, and steamy chemistry in the book. This was the first book I’ve read by this author, but it definitely won’t be the last! I’m also excited to see what the other authors participating in the Kissing Games Series have in store for readers!

I received an advanced review copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

4.25 Ace Stars!

Having read Ms.McLain's work many times before it's always a joy to pick up another one of her books! As soon as I found out all of these authors were releasing a series I was so excited! I picked this one up and got right into The Kissing Games world! I really enjoyed this story!

Audrey and Liam's journey pulled me in right from the get go! These two are brought into each other's lives in a memorable way and they become best friends. Audrey is engaged to Liam's brother. What happens when things don't go according to plan? Will Liam take a chance for Audrey?

Right from the start, Audrey and Liam had my undivided attention and I didn't turn away from their story until I reached the end. The connection and friendship that these two shared was so sweet and beautiful. Liam had me falling so quickly with how he was all about Audrey and his care towards her shined bright throughout.

My heart hurt for Audrey and i admired her for tackling things in her life. Both characters were so passionate about their work and I liked what that brought to the story. I enjoyed getting to see Liam and Audrey together and how that not did they steam up my kindle, but brought such happiness to this heart of mine as well!

I so enjoyed what the other characters brought to the story, especially the adorable Mr.
Butters! It was fun getting into this world for the first time.

With Kissing My Brother's Bride, Ms.McLain has created a great page turner of a read that brought the heart and steam! I am so looking forward to the rest of this series! If you haven't checked this author's work out, you so need to!

4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Don’t let the title scare you off! This is a brother’s EX romance with a jilted bride. There is no cheating.

Liam met Audrey when his workaholic brother, Linc, was running late for his first date with Audrey. A quick friendship develops and Liam has always been there for Audrey. Audrey's wedding to Liam's brother is approaching. When Linc chooses to work during the days leading up to the wedding, Liam stands in like always. The wedding day comes and Linc is a no-show but Liam remains by Audrey's side. As Audrey moves on, she begins to discover who she should have been with all along.

First off, Liam is perfect. This sexy fireman is supportive, trustworthy, loyal, and protective. He firmly kept his feelings in the friend zone. All he wanted was Audrey's happiness. Even after sharing his feelings with Audrey, he lets her determine the direction of their relationship.

Audrey has a huge heart, one that has been broken in the past. She tends to let people walk all over her, which is how she ended up with Linc. I enjoyed her journey to be free and learn to control her happiness, not the happiness of others.

The book is fast-paced but the romance evolved, creating a bit of a slow burn. There is tons of chemistry and fun innuendos from Liam with plenty of spice when they decide to be together.

This friends-to-lovers romance is sweet and swoony, with an adorable cat, some small-town vibes, and a found family element.

The series is off to a great start. I was a bit hesitant when I first applied for this book specifically, because I wasn't sure how I'd react to her ex being his brother and all. But Molly McLain made this so effortless to read.

Liam and Audrey should have been together from the beginning, but his brother got to the girl first. And now almost 3 years later, she about to be married but Linc has a change of heart. She's left heartbroken but not necessarily because of a broken engagement, but because she has to take a good look at her life and decide where to go next.

But now that she is free, both she and Liam are starting to (finally) see what was in front of them all along and that they need to be together. I actually love the fact how the brothers got to a point to solve all of their problems, that didn't have much to do with her and how she managed to push them to have a sit down and sort out all their issues.

After finishing this story I'm more than looking forward to the rest of the series, because it is promising to be a great one.

Kick off your summer with a road trip! This group of friends gets us started with what is sure to be a fun series that I'm going to need hard copies of to place on my bookshelf! Audrey has experienced a great loss and carries around some of the guilt for her parents' accident. She refuses to let herself have everything she deserves because she believes that it will end in tragedy. That's why she's heading to Florida to marry Linc - a man who isn't *quite* everything she wants in a man.

Our hero, Liam, is Linc's brother and in fact, the man whom Audrey should have been with from the very start. After all, he stepped in when Linc asked on his and Audrey's first date. Instead, she becomes best friends with Liam and he has to sit back while he watches her settle.

My favorite scene is when they're in Florida and Audrey tells Liam that she didn't get to dance. Liam gives her the best he can in that moment and instantly, I was swooning. For a brief moment, she allows herself to be in the moment without second guessing.

When the air is finally clear, I loved how Audrey (despite assuring herself that she would be the one to tear everyone apart) is actually the glue that holds everyone together. Her big heart opens a lot of doors for her, personally and professionally. For good reason, I wasn't a fan of Linc's, but he redeems himself a bit. I'm excited for the upcoming books of Audrey and Liam's friends who took the ill-fated wedding trip.

"She might have worn his ring, but she's always been mine" -- my favorite quote from Liam.

I received a complimentary copy for reviewing purposes. All opinions are my own.

Note: for those concerned about a cheating trigger, this book is SAFE for you to read!

First off, let me just say that I love books written by this author because the characters are always complex and so very human. This book is certainly no exception.

I loved every minute of this book, it captures the reader’s attention and pulls you in! You’ll want to read it in one sitting with no breaks and you won’t even realise that time has passed!

The story features an emotionally scarred heroine who is well entrenched in her journey to discovering her worth and a patient, loyal and swoon-worthy hero that will do just about anything for her.

The heroine is brave and strong-willed, having to overcome deep-seated issues from her past. The hero is a pillar of strength who wears his heart on his sleeve and never wavers in the face of adversity, especially where the heroine is concerned. The magnetism between the two main characters is undeniable.

The characters are so easy to relate to! As the story unfolds, the true extent of their development becomes evident and you love them all the more for the challenges they face and their reactions in respect of those challenges.

This is a wonderful read; featuring heartache, laughter, banter, romance, spice and beautiful growth!

Thank you so much Molly for the opportunity to read an ARC! I willingly leave this honest review.

A sweet, friends-to-lovers, contemporary romance.

Audrey was supposed to marry Lincoln West, but when he backed out Audrey realizes that perhaps it was meant to be and that she was really meant to be with the other West brother, Liam who is her best friend, all along. The biggest problem she now faces is that she's built up a life with and around Lincoln, so will her friends, her new found family with the West's, will they forgive the tangled mess that will now involve Liam?

Liam, Lincoln's brother, has been best friends with Audrey from the beginning of their relationship, and they have always kept their relationship in the friend zone. However, once his brother screws up the best thing he ever had, all bets are off and Liam is ready to make his move. Liam has waited on the sidelines long enough, so when Aubrey says she's ready, he's no longer waiting. While he did keep their relationship in the friendzone, he also kept his true feelings simmering in the background.

This book is a long, slow burn, due mainly to the nature of their relationships. It did involve his brother after all, but once they do give in, it's steamy and the relationship quickly takes off, it just takes a long time to get there. A 4.5 star read.

Molly McLain's Kissing My Brother's Bride is a great start to the upcoming The Kissing Games series. The title is definitely misleading so please go into this knowing there is NO CHEATING! Ignore the trolls and dive into this sweet, funny, and sexy story!

I loved Audrey and Liam. Their friendship was so easy and natural. Both were strong characters who relied on one another for support. When Audrey's wedding goes belly up, Liam is there to pick up the pieces. He's harbored feelings for her since the moment they met but he relegated himself to her best friend as she and his brother embarked on a relationship. But now that she's single, all bets are off! Audrey and Liam's relationship developed naturally based on their mutual love and respect for one another as friends. They had tons of chemistry and I loved watching their love blossom.

This story has it all. It's funny, sexy, witty, and has tons of heart. It will especially resonate with anyone who has ever had feelings for their best friend. McLain's writing is as stellar as always. She truly shines when she's writing small-town romance stories. Don't miss Kissing My Brother's Bride! 5 stars

The Kissing Games #1
By Molly McLain
Rating: ⭐ 5/5
Emotions: ❤️ 5/5

Great beginning in the kissing game series

Since first meeting Audrey, Liam is sure she is it for him. Sadly, because she is his older brother’s fiancée. When their wedding comes closer Audrey and Linc, the groom, bothe have a feeling that their path isn’t the one they should go together. And then the groom is suddenly missing.
It was supposed to be the best day of her life, being part of a family she wants so badly since her own can’t be there anymore. And Linc, for once, was the son who got the attention he wanted all along.
So now, Liam is there for all the things his brother should be in preparation for the wedding. As a best friend, as the one who wipes away the tears, as anything Audrey wants him to be.
We get the jealous brother vibe, not in the way you might think, a slightly forbidden romance vibe, because we know where the female character will have her happy end with and a little bit of tragedy vibe, because of the term to want so badly being part of a family you would mostly do anything for.
Of course it will end in the best way possible, without bad feelings or broken relationships any kind of.

Molly McLain is an author that I've stopped reading the blurbs when a new story comes out because I LOVE her writing style so much, and I say that because if I had read this particular blurb, I may not have read this amazing story. See, I tend to stay away from brother standing in for brother (or anything resembling a love triangle) because of things that could seem like cheating, but I assure you, there's not one ounce of cheating. Linc is the brother of Liam (our hero) who was running late for his first date with Audrey so Liam was the stand in, and honestly, it should have been Audrey & Liam from the jump. Now Audrey & Linc are engaged to be married, and Liam has all kinds of regret by not telling her the truth on that first date, and I felt so badly for him because he was totally amazing. I also loved me some Audrey so I wanted the best for her, and Linc wasn't that in my eyes that's for sure. This isn't a suspenseful story but I was still on the edge of my seat filled with anxiety waiting to see how it would all play out so it was easy for me to devour it in one sitting. Seriously though, you don't want to pass this story by as it was all that and a bag of chips that I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This book begins with Audrey and Linc's wedding, only for it to come crashing down and for Linc's brother Liam to make his love and devotion known to Audrey.

WHAT I LIKED:

I love the idea of finding family, and that's what Audrey found with Liam's family.
Feeling like you don't deserve happiness and asking for too much might lead to disaster is a complex topic, and I like that this author delved into it and did it justice.
Liam was so in love and protective over Audrey, and I loved that.
I also like Audrey's character progression. She went from being afraid to taking charge and letting herself be known.

WHAT DIDN'T WORK FOR ME:

I've read Molly McClain books before and loved them, but this one overall didn't work for me. I had a hard time connecting with either character. I know this will be a series of five books, and I think that was part of the problem. Around 11-12, characters were introduced in the beginning chapters, and it was too much.
I felt terrible for Linc throughout the book. He had made mistakes, but you could tell he was hurting. So, I found Liam being with his brother's ex-fiancee a little icky. It would've worked better if Linc was a despicable character. I am glad he and Liam made up and found their way back to being brothers.

This is a new-ish to me author but I read the KAYLEE RYAN version of this world and wanted to dive into the rest as well. Probably reading out of order was not the best idea but I knew that I'd have a great time reading. And I did but this type of trope is not my favorite because not enough time is spent in between as well as just a little more awkward than I like. It's basically brother's bride heroine and of course the hero is the brother and just there were time where it was awkward for me and again not enough time was spent between especially after a wedding that was called off, then the brother the hero that is took a long time to confront the brother he already isn't close it. It was a little too much for me and not for me but I enjoyed it still, liked getting to see the heroine open up and have something for herself. That said great start and now I can't wait for the rest to dive into this new world.
