Had some timeline and plot errors. Probably needed another edit. There was a sum up chapter that basically repeated everything twice. Not sure if I'll try another book by this author. Seemed really unfinished for an author with this many other works. The story was interesting, but that didn't make up for the lack of closure and plot issues/timeline issues.
I typically read 300+ pages a day and this 140pg book took me two weeks to finish because it was so…dull. Details/imagery were so over explained, sometimes done twice, that I felt like the plot was washed out. The plot that was there was a cute fun idea, just could’ve been… more.
I actually enjoyed this one! Gave my lifetime romance movie vibes. Perfect summer read with a bit of turmoil and romance! The FMC truly went through ringer the first few pages of being fired and her boyfriend breaking up with her on her birthday. She's a trooper and decided to get a little refresh in life, I love how determined she was. I also enjoyed her daughter Katie's perseverance and helping motivate her mom. The MMC seemed pretty wonderful and supportive as well. All around a great read with a good ending!
This book....needed some editing. At one point, the h was talking about her ex who she said was waiting for the divorce to be completed. Then literally two paragraphs later she referenced the ex as remarried with two small children. Luckily it was towards the end of the book, but it really put me off.
This book was just awful in my opinion. There was lots of telling and not showing. Lengthy descriptions, of what people look like or places. “…he stood tall and windswept, his biceps rippling in a way that only a man who worked with his hands could possess.” OMG come ON! Inaccuracies about the geographical trip from Miami to Maine—-why the panhandle? Thats’s way west! Vacant self absorbed characters. Trite, cliched language. The descriptions of the Maine town. Having lived in both places this was pretty insulting…
There was no resolution to anything. Where is her father? Is he dead? We don’t know. How is her daughter doing now? Will she ever open the inn? We don’t know. Gotta buy the next book to find out. It’s almost like this book was written to get you to purchase the rest of the series. It left me hanging, and it felt vacant and superficial. Honestly, don’t understand the good reviews.
The storyline was good and had such potential .. and then it’s like the author just decided to be done with the book. I wouldn’t recommend 😬 The last chapter is like finally starting to reveal what’s going on but still there’s more to learn and then BAM epilogue that’s only like a week later and gives no answers. It’s like she wanted to try and FORCE you to read the second book to find out how the first one ends. No thank you.
A bit discombobulated for sure. Definitely needed to be edited again. I don't live in the US but I'm pretty sure Miami isn't exactly on the Panhandle and driving to Maine would not be as quick and easy as she made it. Also, in Maine, the new fellow is going through a divorce as he's separated but a few pages along, his ex is married with a couple of kids. Make up your mind! I have enjoy reading this Author, but definitely this book needed some editing or at least proof-reading.
Storyline is predictable as are characters. Several times in book it seemed author was repeating herself OR skipping ahead without necessary details to make plot flow logical. Book wasn’t badly written but wasn’t edited well. Not one I’d recommend.
Incredibly unsubstantial- plot pretty much non existent; little drama and incredibly short. Clearly aimed at trying to get you to read more. I wouldn’t plan to read anything else by her - I really feel the book wasted my time.
This sweet story is complete with mystery, romance, heartbreak, new love, and free of smut! I'm looking forward to the rest of this series (9 books, I believe).
I read this as a free audiobook. First off, the narrator often stumbles on words and uses a terrible NY accent for some Maine characters. That aside...the story has potential. It feels like a rough draft in which the storyline and character have yet to be developed. The end isn't an end. There is no conclusion for the story. The main character seems to find closure and that's about it. Also, after reading another book by yhe same author, the book began almost exactly like the same; a culinary trained women, loses her job and boyfriend on the same day (both cheated) only for the woman to want to start over elsewhere, getting back to her long lost culinary skills. 🙄 And then, not even a decent ending.
I listened to this as a free audiobook and can understand why it was free, I thought the story was lovely and predictable. The kind of book you use as a filler or one you randomly find like I did but the narrator’s accents were questionable, I’m not from America but even to me the accents didn’t seem right.
But just based on the story it was fine, nothing awful but nothing brilliant about it 🤷♀️
Well, this started off as a light summer read only to end with none of the problems resolved. Have to buy the next book to find out anything. How disappointing. Reading books in a series is always entertaining, but generally the plot is resolved, with just a few dangling pieces to spark your interest in reading the next one. I felt very unsatisfied with this novel. Lots of description in the latter part of the book which made me wonder if this was leading to the end - and I was right.
I got this book for free during stuff your kindle day, and thank god I didn’t pay for this shit. The plot was actually kinda interesting to me but the writing was SO COMEDICALLY BAD. I was cringing at some points, and the timelines not adding up just made me dislike this book even more. It had potential too ugh.
This book was clunky and disjointed. The timeline was hard to decipher. And it didn't help to find out that you have to read the next book to get an ending. That was my mistake but I won't make it again. (Book) one and done.
Je pensais terminer plus rapidement ce livre, mais le fait que l’histoire ne fait que se répéter tout au long du texte a rendu cette lecture longue et ennuyante. Ce n’était pas une histoire pour moi.
I think I wasn’t in the right space for this book as it irritated me. It seemed to have major gaps and didn’t flow well for me. I’ve read other books by this author and enjoyed them though. This story deals with Ariel and her daughter and their relocation from Florida to Maine where their intent is to open a bed and breakfast establishment.
A good book based on the story of Ariel going through the heartbreak of splitting up with her ex-husband and getting sacked from her job. So she decided to get up and go back to her hometown Maine, will she find happiness there?
This book was a slow read and I really struggled to get into it. Became a bit predictable at times as well. Didn’t grab me enough to want to read the rest of the series
