Just a few words about the content, as the title is a bit misleading: it is a chronological story, with photos, of the places (restaurants, nightclubs...) that the Hollywood people (including stars) frequented. Their names are only mentioned (along with a few photos, too few for my taste)... The book deserves 4 stars if you know what to really expect...
"Out with the Stars: Hollywood Nightlife in the Golden Era" transports readers to a time when glamour and glitz defined Hollywood's social scene. The book vividly captures the excitement and allure of Los Angeles' iconic hotspots. Reading about legendary restaurants like the Brown Derby evokes a sense of nostalgia and longing. I wish these places were still around so I could experience dining there myself. I'm a millenial born in 1992 in Orange County and most of these restaurants were long gone by the time I was born. My mom was also born and raised in OC, but despite being born in 1956 and being of age to visit these restaurants, she never did since they were in LA which is an hour from Orange County. My grandparents owned a restaurant here in OC near Disneyland from the 60's to the late 80's just before I was born, but my grandparents rarely ventured all the way to LA to the iconic hotspots. This book is a delightful journey through Hollywood's golden nightlife.
