THE SEAS OF FATE ARE CHURNING…Ruthless, mysterious alien invaders are unrelenting in their war to conquer Earth, adding new weapons and species to their arsenal to take the fight to humanity beyond the war-torn coastlines.
But for the first time since the invasion began, the people of Earth are no longer playing defense. After a year of battle, mankind is ready to take the fight to the enemy, using a new generation of ASHURs and undersea Trident rigs.
In Los Angeles, the valiant militia struggles to hold the front together. In Michigan, a major battle erupts and a new generation of fighter-subs are rushed into the fray. A POW clings to life on the ocean floor and a DIA analyst attempts to forge calm from chaos. Heroes rise and fall like the tides.
It’s all hands on deck to save mankind.
With the fate of humanity at stake, can anyone survive the storm surge of war?
After 2 books of grim outlooks for humanity, Storm Surge is the beginning of the comeback against The Fish. This is by far the best book yet, filled with meaningful payoffs and satisfying victories. What is really important in heavier stories is to have moments of victory and time to breathe instead of just constant gloom and survival from one moment to the next. This story provides that even though I expect some major rug pulls in the next book.
It follows about 6 different characters it follows, and I like every 1. There's not one I roll my eyes at when their chapter shows up.
Can humanity adapt and overcome this new foe?L In this third novel in the series, we follow the victories and defeats of many people fighting in their own ways. This book has the pacing of an action movie, with realistic (okay, sometimes a little science fictional) military tactics and gear, but above all, you get the feeling of walking along the side of those people and sharing their triumphs and losses. I can't recommend this book highly enough. I'm waiting anxiously for the next in the series, which is already preordered.
The author has a flair for characters, some you like, some you hate. This instalment picks up straight after book two.
Overall it's a much more wholesome book, plenty of action, suspense, death, tragedy and closure in many respects. In particular one death made me happier that I thought.
The book loses a star simply for the myriad of unnecessary words, and even a whole chapter or two with nothing in it. The daily lives need to be cut down a little.
Land or sea we come to gut are enemies an sing the anthem of freedom.
Finally we’ve hit the enemy back but nothing good comes with some bad now new enemies come to light an lose favorite chacthers in the process. Do has it go’s on Pardoe world building creates a story where each book is at the Lv to be individual movies and I see this series that leave it’s mark forever.
Blaine has created an exciting story with well rounded characters that drive every bit of the action throughout the series. This third book in the series is filled with action and new technology which leaves you excited to read what comes next. Blaine is a master storyteller and you will not be disappointed especially if you are a fan of military sci-fi.
A fantastic way to close the trilogy. After two books of world building and watching humanity struggle in vain, it was a rush reading the first battle with the ASHUR 3 rigs. Seeing characters finally meet one another was a special kinda joy different than the "Fuck Yeah" of reading combat. It was a rollercoaster of death and victories.
A great 3rd installment for this series. Some very big emotional pay offs for the rest of the series in this one. I definitely had a few moments that just hit very deeply on an emotional level. Really well done for this genre. I salute the author. Jay Drake is still nightmare fuel, Dana Blaze has gotten better though.
Closing the 1st trilogy of the Land&Sea series an action packed book that pulls at the heartstrings hard on a couple of places as Earth forces finally go to the offensive against the alien menace. If you love mech action this series is for you!
Humans develop better weapons and the aliens launch monster torpedoes! Some characters die. You feel a lot in this book. I’m excited to see where else this goes. Urahhh!!
The story is fast, but easy to keep up with. The characters are your neighbors. Have to admit it has been a HOT minute since I've read a sci-fi this good.
