The second book in the internationally bestselling series!

If they can reach it in time.

All the immune have to do is survive that long.
And pray the forces of darkness don’t find them first.
Michael McBride was born in Colorado and still resides in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains. He hates the snow, but loves the Avalanche. He works with medical radiation, yet somehow managed to produce five children, none of whom, miraculously, have tails, third eyes, or other random mutations. He writes fiction that runs the gamut from thriller to horror to science fiction...and loves every minute of it.
I usually do not try to read unfinished series, but this one is so detail orientated, character building, just a whole lot of wow. I do not want to wait, but I will. I hope that the next book is the end to this part, followed by more sure. I am waiting.
This has got to be one of the most well-written kindle unlimited series I’ve read. There were so many different plot lines and characters finally coming together. You can tell there was a lot of research and planning that went into writing this, and I’m honestly so happy I picked this up; I need that third book!
I’m hooked on these books! I can’t wait for the 3rd book to release! My favorite book of all time is “Swan Song” but McBride is giving it a run for its money! This author is way better than any of King’s work but, just like King, it takes some time to get used to McBride’s writing prose.
At first, I wasn’t a big fan of his writing style.., I felt like I was studying for an anthropology exam. That said, it grew on me and now I’d go so far as to say this is one of my favorite series of all time. The characters are well fleshed out, the story is epic, the baddies are multilayered, and I am on the edge of my seat the entire time.
The one thing I will say is, if you plan to listen to this on Audible, it’s a chore. They have the most monotoned woman in the world reading this! It’s as if Siri is reading me a story but that’s not fair to Siri is at least she has some inflection in her voice. This narrator is like the old Garmin nav system was programmed to read to you. Yuck! While the audiobook is a slog, it’s definitely worth the effort.
Starting “Subhuman” from this author next and I cannot wait!
The second book not much better than the first. I found this book hard to read, seemed as in the first the chapters were written by different people. Some chapters flowed while others barely seemed to make any sense at all. The overplot is a good one, but the execution not good. I would not have started the second book had I not purchased the 2 together. There is a 3rd book coming and I think I will pass on that.
I loved the first book but this one took me forever to read. I kept wishing it would just end so I would know what happened to the characters from the first book. Then I get to the end and there's now a third. I won't be reading it. This one was so detailed and wordy that I just don't care anymore how it ends. If some of the descriptive parts had been controlled it probably would have been great.
I'm a fan of McBride and normally enjoy his work. This second book of the series was not fun at all. Laboriously written with such a slow pace, I didn't like hardly any of it. The repetitive retelling of the same history of the shaman was way too much. Still like Mc Bride stories. Just not this one.
The Viral Apocalypse series is so well researched, so well written, characters so well constructed and multi-layered, that it stands head and shoulders above other entries in the apocaliptic cannon. The tie in to Native American legend adds another layer of complexity. I cannot wait for the next installment!
These skinwalkers are a real pain in the ass at the end of the world! Can’t trust any of the commanding officers. Kind of messed up how powerful they’ve become and there doesn’t seem to be a way to beat them. I’m curious what this final battle will be as the “good” guys seem at an extreme disadvantage.
another great story. This chapter of the book trilogy devels deeper into the character's past both evil and good guys. this story was somewhat akin to his early books Gods Ends Trilogy. As always I highly recommend his books to everyone.
I loved this. I'm going to start the next book. Right now. This story has taken turns and changed directions several times. Now all the players are starting to gather together for the final book. I'm sure there will be more surprises.
