They're trying to pin me with a crime I didn't commit. The death of a traitor and a rival for one of the men I'm slowly falling for. Gareth is a mess of rage and pain, Warrik and Thane are out for blood, and I just want to escape yet another prison cell. All of this comes on the heels of one of the most important criminal trials of the century, and I'll be damned if I'm not there to see my tormenter put away forever. These bars can't hold me anymore.
This is book five in the Darkverse series. 18+ for violence, graphic content and language.
I spend 95% of my life huddled in my little office, at my little desk, vividly hallucinating about characters and scenarios that don't exist. Then I write it all down for you to enjoy!
Bitter End, the latest addition to the Noc City spin-off series, is an absolutely delicious and captivating read! Penn Cassidy has quickly become my favourite go-to author for tantalizing paranormal, why choose romance, leaving me desperately wanting more.
I absolutely loved this story! The way Beatrix's connection with her men develops throughout the book is simply amazing, and the spice is *chefs kiss* (honourable mention for the Thane car scene). It adds the perfect amount of tantalizing heat to the already engaging plotline.
This story picks up directly after that fantastic twist ending in Sol City. Once again, this is mostly Beatrix's story but you do get glimpses of Serenity and her harem of men.
Just like the previous book, this story delivers an incredible twist at the end that took me completely by surprise. I adore it when an author can introduce a plot element that keeps me on the edge of my seat. It keeps the excitement alive as the anticipation builds for the next book in the series.
However, it's important to note that this book is a spin-off series. To fully grasp the plot and understand the characters, it's best to have read the Noc City trilogy beforehand. Once you're immersed in that world, though, the entire series is an absolute banger.

Review: Bitter End is the fifth book in the Noc City Series by Penn Cassidy. Beatrix and Serenity are in Sol City for the Trial of Estelle Nightingale, the witch who kidnapped darklings and took them to a facility where she could do experiments on the darklings. Estelle was taking darklings DNA and trying to figure out a serum that would allow her to make hybrids. Beatrix is still trying to heal from the emotional and mental trauma that was caused by Serenity's father and Estelle Nightingale. While in Sol City, Beatrix meets two brothers, Thane and Warrick who end up helping her pack member Garreth with keeping Beatrix safe. Beatrix makes a decision to go out on her own to a club one night after a tough day spent in court and ends up fighting a fellow exiled shifter from her Blood Moon pack, Savannah. War, Thane and Gareth end up getting to the club in time to stop the fight before Savannah and Beatrix end up killing one another. Beatrix Castwell wakes up the next day to head to Estelle's sentencing when she's surrounded by Sol City's police and arrested for the murder of Savannah. During the arrest of Beatrix, Estelle ends up escaping from prison and disappears into thin air. Will Beatrix end up escaping the facility only to end up in prison for life for a murder she didn't commit? Will Estelle get away with her heinous crimes against darklings and humans? What's happening between Trix and the three men who are watching over her? Will she give into her desires and allow herself to get to know these men who look at her with a hunger and desire she's never known before?
I enjoyed this book and the story that Cassidy has brought to life in the Noc City series. I love Serenity's stories in book 1-3 as well as Trix's story in books 4 & 5. This book as well as the other 4 books have quite a few twists and turns throughout that kept me on my toes. Not to mention the cliffhangers that each book ended with, Bitter End included. Those cliffhangers are what kept me reading the next book because I had to know what was going to happen. I loved the spice in all of these books. Cassidy is a great at writing spicy paranormal dark romance. The spicy scenes are 🤌🏻 *chef's kiss*... perfection!!! The men in this series: the Vampires, shifters and Warlocks are so yummy and hot. I need one of each for me. I do think that there were quite a bit of typos in the books as well as some parts of the story that seemed like they were repetitive and long winded but I did enjoy the characters and their stories. I think this series has great potential, it just needs to be polished! I definitely can't wait to see what Cassidy has in store for us with book 6 of this darkverse series. If you like paranormal romance filled with shifters, vampires, witches and warlocks, then give Noc City series is perfect for you!!

I know I’ve found one of my favorite books when I finish it and I still need more! I am truly obsessed with every book in this series and this book did not disappoint. I am just in love with the plot, the characters, and everything in between. Penn Cassidy has given us another five-star read. Don’t sleep on Noc City!
Beatrix truly has been dealt a bad hand but continues to grow from all of it. Her connection with her wolf and her men continues to blossom. There’s just something about her character that has me in awe.
The men in this book truly took me by surprise. Gareth had my heart breaking but then fully glued it back together. I would love a cuddle. Thane finally started moving forward with Trix. He can teach me his magic. Last but not least, War. I was so in love with this man when he finally opened up. I wanted to hug him and love him. Honestly, all the men just grew on me in this book and I loved every moment of it.
I am already chomping at the bits for the next story. That cliffhanger has me all messed up. I hate that Trix’s story is over but I’m glad that we will see her in the future books. If you haven’t already, check out Noc City because it’s amazing.
I was so excited to read the conclusion to Trixie's story that it didn't dawn on me until it was too late that it wasn't the last book in the series and that cliffhanger mocked me.
I adore Trixie and the harem she's found for herself, After everything she went through the lassie deserves some happiness. Thane, Warrick and Gareth compliment her perfectly but also bring out a bit of the old Trixie that we saw at the beginning of the Series. Can we also just take a second to appreciate all the growth that Gareth has done throughout the series! Let's be honest we all dislike him and now just want the giant furrbaby to warm our beds... Just me?
Yes I'm frustrated with what's happened with the Red Witch Bitch ( doesn't even deserve her name to be used) but look forward to her getting what she really deserves in the end.
As always with the author's work we are given suspense, drama, comedy, romance and a generous heaping of Spice.
Book starts were it ended, and it's emotionally intense, knowing what Trix has been through and knowing she's innocent made me want to enter the book and break her out myself.
The hits continue and it's not over. The plus side...sides are three men who make me want to swap place with Trix even with all the bad just to get that Harem. Who make hot lava look cold with their passion and very experienced smexy ways!
I did get a little lost with some of the bond thing and I personally think vampires probably do have bonds but just don't know it's a thing. Anyway it's not over, the book ends on a cliffhanger hanger and I get the feeling we are going to get some insight into Sean and Loxey next.
Looking forward to hopefully seeing some justice and hope it's a bloody painful one!
…but not my fave book. Honestly, the whole thing felt strung out and entirely way too long for being as short as it is. Also, the relationships between Trix and her men felt rushed and not at all fleshed out. I really wanted to love it as Penn is one of my favorite authors to read but I just couldn’t on this one. The first three books were awesome though so maybe I’m wrong and I just wasn’t in the mood for these characters at this time. It has been a minute since I finished Serenity’s story. The spice is 💋 though and I’ll prob still check out the next in the series when it comes out.
Heat level: 4/5. I'm so glad that this world will be revisited with a new spinoff series because I'm not ready to leave it and there are things that need solving still. The war against the orchestrator of the atrocities committed in the original trilogy is still being waged since the trial isn't over yet. I loved that this book had more spicy group scenes. I'm eager to see where this story goes.
It’s so nice to be back in the world of Noc and Sol City!! After Sol City #1 left me wanting, I’m so glad to see Trix and her men growing and adapting to the crazy circumstances they’re found in.
The plot is refreshing, and I am absolutely living for for the Rejected Fated Mates trope. Biology isn’t everything, and it’s refreshing to see that translated into Trix’s story.
I also really liked seeing limited pop ins from Serenity and her gang, it was nice and really helped the universe feel real. Like, of course they’re going to worry about each other and try to help each other, they’re cousins! So glad to see their stories were completely separated, and it really helps the world feel so much bigger.
No spoilers, but I for sure didn’t see that ending coming. So excited to see what’s next!!
I'm so in love with this series! Every character has something different to add to the story and I just want more and more!! Penn pulls you into her worlds and I forget everything else. I can't wait for the next book!!!
I really loved getting to dive back into the Darkverse universe. Trix is an interesting character, and I love seeing how this why choose set plays out. Great!!!
Each book in the darkverse series I've read in under a day and keeps me at the edge of my seat wanting more! Easily becomes a favorite series and I cannot wait for the next book!
