Jace and Andrea. Andrea and Jace.

From the moment of their fate-filled first meeting in Central Park they’ve known one true thing—they’re meant to be.

Life doesn’t have many certainties but for Andrea and Jace forever is one of them.
Andrea Leighton-Hughes—shockingly wealthy Upper East Sider, a chess-piece in her family’s games since before she was born—knows what it’s like to hide behind a mask. Her world is one of lies, manipulation, and reputation. Jace is the first and only person to see who she truly is.

Jace Morgan knows the ugly side of life and he hasn’t always kept his nose clean. A musical prodigy from the Bronx, Jace and his brothers will do whatever it takes to climb to the top of the music charts. Andrea is the first and only person who has helped him play from the heart.
No one understands their connection. No one understands their love.

As Jace and Andrea struggle to stay together and prove that love defeats all obstacles, life sets out to prove them wrong.

What happens when two people promise forever, but life tears them apart?
What happens in the time they aren’t together—in the space between?

An epic love story full of emotional depth, redemption, found family, and the belief that love can heal the world.

4.5⭐ Remarkably moving!

Blue blood girl from the Upper East Side meets a poor musician boy and falls head over heels in love. 👛🎸

Now, let me say that insta love isn't one of my faves but DON'T let this turns you off because forbidden love is around the corner, The Space Between swept me away! It's a beautiful, magical, and emotional LOVE story. There is so much more to it but does take its time... be patient!

At 13 Hours+ or 542 pages, I thought this was a bit ambitious for a contemporary romance novel, but knowing I loved every book written by Sarah Ready in the last few years there's no chance I'm going to pass it up. I enjoyed French Holiday but this one tops that! Still, I think this book can be a hundred pages shorter and without the bitty steamy session. I don't think this book needs that. But I love the rollercoaster journey with Andrea and Jace and never felt bored. 🎢💘

James Fouhey (my new favorite) and Rachel F. Hirsch are both fantastic voices for the characters. A worthy read or listen.

Thank you W. W. Crown and Netgalley for my advance copies.

Jace and Andrea met one fateful day in Central Park and knew that they were meant to be. Andrea was born into a wealthy family and lives in the upper East side. She must follow the rules and present a certain image. Jace is the only person who sees who she truly is. Jace is a musical prodigy from the Bronx. He and his brothers have goals of setting the world on fire with their music. Andrea inspires him every day.

Their romance is not understood by those in their life. No one gets their connection. Why didn't anyone explain to them that opposites attract?????

Sarah Ready has wowed me once again. She has created two characters that I cared about and rooted for. Of course, this being a Sarah Ready book, I knew a wrench was going to be thrown into the works. Everything is bliss for the couple until it isn't.

This book is about what happens when life turns the tables on you. Just one night and their lives changed forever.

The Space Between shows Jace and Andrea falling in love, what tears them apart, and the space between. This was a bittersweet tale that touches on loss, grief, love, overcoming obstacles, finding your family, deception, and family dynamics.

I listened to the audiobook and thoroughly enjoyed it. This book had me feeling all kinds of emotions while listening. Like her other books, I found this book to be heartwarming, heartbreaking, emotional, riveting, and sweet.

I enjoyed how the book is told through both Andrea's and Jace's POV. It was nice getting into their heads, but I wished that they had equal time. This in between parts is mainly about Andrea and her life. I would have liked to learn more about Jace and his time apart from her as well. That is my one issue with the book.

Captivating, well written, well thought out and emotional.

4.15⭐
Genre ~ new adult
Setting ~ New York
Publication date ~ July 25, 2023
Page Count ~ 492 (74 chapter + p&e)
Audio length ~ 13 hours 13 minutes
Narrators ~ James Fouhey, Rachel F. Hirsch
POV ~ dual 1st
Featuring ~ 3 part story, multiple timelines, musician, rich girl/poor boy, teenagers, coming of age, first love, virgins, second chance, minimal steamage

Jace & Andrea (Andy) meet and have an instant connection. They just know they're meant to be together forever. Ahhh first love, you think you'll be together forever and nothing can get in the way.

I'm not a fan of YA romance much these days, but I actually enjoyed this one because it was on the clean side. I thought them losing their virginity to each other was well done.

After they graduate from high school, Andy joins Jace and his brothers as they go on tour. I mostly liked Jace's relationship with this brothers. They are really close due to losing both their parents in a tragic way. But one brother made a selfish choice that changed the course for these love birds.

The story jumps 8 years and Jace & Andy finally see each other again. They've never stopped thinking about each other for all these years. Could this be fate and their second chance? Or did the author give us a heart wrenching twist that'll make you shed a tear or two?

In case you needed one more twist ~ wowza with the culprit of Jace's parents death, I didn't see that coming at all.

Then we have a 5 year jump that ends in the second chance we have been waiting ages and ages and ages for.

Overall, a lovely coming of age story, on the longer side, that'll yank your heartstrings, make you sad and put a smile on your face when it all comes full circle.

Narration notes:
They both did a great job. Their voices sounded perfect for their age.

12-3-24 update I was just reminded of this book because a friend is going to NYC for the first time later this week. Man oh man- I loved this one!

Jace and Andi
Andi and Jace

This is an epic love story. It made me smile and gnash my teeth and smile again and break my heart and smile again.

They come from different worlds but they are meant to be together. They lose each other after only a short time together and have to learn to live their lives without each other.
Will they come together again?
When they do will it be the same?

I loved the adventure of reading this and I don’t want to say too much other than that it was incredibly engaging and I was 100% vested in both of the main character’s stories

An emotional and heart-warming story about never giving up on love!

If you're a fan of second-chance romance or Colleen Hoover, this is a must-read!

Also, a huge shout out to Tina! Thank you for bringing this novel to my attention! You're right, it was an amazing read!

This was such a rollercoaster.
I cried so much.
The trauma.
The stupid miscommunication.
AND YET
With all the lovely and painful lines...
------------------------------
Take #2: The Sarah withdrawal hurt too much so here's hoping I like it better this time around.
------------------------------
Take #1: DNF at %2 - It starts with a man trying to stop a wedding because he is in love with the bride (I think they were involved). It might be just the start as it is a 500+ page book but I'm not feeling it.

Sarah Ready has already written one of my favorite books this year, French Holiday which was extremely charming and funny. I knew from the moment I read that one that this would be an author to watch for and she solidified my love of her novels in THE SPACE BETWEEN. This is an emotional and heartfelt novel that touched me to the core. It’s an epic love story about two souls who know they are meant to be, but everything seems to want to tear them apart. There’re family issues, heartbreak, betrayal, and everything else under the sun that can hurt two people who just want to be together, and I fell HARD for it. Emotional novels aren’t normally my cup of tea but DANG this book had me hooked. Get ready because once you start reading Jace and Andi’s story you won’t be able to stop until the very end. I loved it!

This was nearly 500 pages of emotional anguish. And I mean that in the BEST way. I could not put it down.

Separated into three parts, over many years, it follows the intense love story between Jace and Andrea. I was really hesitant when I realized the entirety of part one follows them as teenagers, but it truly sets the foundation for not only their whirlwind romance but also their personal lives.

Ripped apart from each other again and again, this story put my heart through the wringer. Sometimes I just wanted to scream ENOUGH. It's a really long road towards happiness for Andrea and Jace, one filled with music, betrayal, and loss. Grab your tissues! In a way, I felt like I read three stories in one; it all coming together in a really beautiful conclusion.

Why not five stars? As much as I adored Jace and knew the happily-ever-after would lead to him, he became somewhat of an afterthought for me in part two. Without spoilers, I became very-very-very attached to a plot twist that I'm certain I'll never recover from. If you've read this, you know! Regardless, I highly recommend for an all-consuming read.

I really enjoyed this love story. It took a while for me to become invested, but about halfway through I didn't want to put it down and couldn't stop thinking about it. This book had my emotions all over the place. I was so angry at some of the characters and sad about certain events. I was really glad that Ready chose not to take the easy route of typical rock star behavior being the root of all issues in the story. There were a couple of minor issues I had with the story that I couldn't reconcile, but I can suspend my disbelief enough to enjoy it for what it is - A story of love, loss, family, and life.

I listened to the audiobook, narrated by James Fouhey & Rachel F. Hirsch. It was a great listening experience.

Wow. This might be my favorite book this year. I loved the couple and their romance was so darn sweet. The twists and turns all flowed so well together and made this story a really good one. I was a little worried about how it was going to end but it turned out to be just perfect.

🌀Synopsis
Jace Morgan has had a rough life. His parents both died when he was younger and now his family scrapes by. Everything changes one day when he meets Andrea in the park.
Andrea comes from a wealth of money. The complete opposite of Jace, she can basically choose her future. Not feeling loved by her family, she decides her best path is to remove herself from them fully. She leaves them all behind and goes on tour with Jace.
Everything is perfect until they are engaged to be married. The pressures start mounting and a misunderstanding drives them apart. Andy back to the city and Jace to fame on tour.
Jace returns to the city many years later knowing he must find her again. When he does, the love is still there. The truth finally comes out between them but Andrea is getting married the next day. Not understanding why, Jace is devastated. Again, the two are driven apart.
He returns at the end of his tour to find her again, one last time.

It’s been awhile since I’ve read a contemporary romance book and this was just perfect! I loved all the characters and I loved the audio narration too! Andrea comes from the very wealthy Hughes family but she prefers to be called Andi when she’s with Jace. Jace comes from a completely different background, both his parents died when he was young so he was raised by his 2 brothers and they became musicians. Jace and Andi meet at Central Park and sparks fly!! And we fast forward 8 years and so much has happened … this was a great story. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early audiobook. To be published July 2023.

The Space Between is an amazing epic love story. It just might be the best love story I have ever read. I couldn't have loved it more.

Andi and Jace come from different worlds. She is a socialite and he is from the wrong side of the tracks. Yet they fall in love and start a whirlwind love affair. Their love is everything they need until life tears them apart.

The Space Between starts as a beautiful YA romance and then it rips your heart out. In the best way. Like a guttural punch. It hurt. A LOT. I needed to take a break.

There are so many different types of love in this book. Loving with your heart, loving with your head and loving with everything in the space between.

All the stars for this one, I will never forget Jace and Andi.

First things first, I cried at work listening to this. I read French Holiday by Sarah Ready earlier in the year and it was silly, lighthearted, and funny. This was none of those things and I freaking love it for it.

Andrea is NYC elite and hates how shallow and cruel everything is. She meets Jace in the park after he's been jumped by rich kids from school. He's an extremely talented musician who is just getting by and she's charmed by the genuine connection they have. They fall into love over the next few months and it was nice to see how hard they were trying. After some machinations against them, they spend the next 8 years without word from the other. She goes back to NYC society and he makes it big as a musician.

*Now, this part is complete spoilers so proceed with caution*

After all of that, she finds Jace again exactly when she's supposed to and it was lovely. There wasn't any bitterness for the time that passed or their circumstances, just gratitude. And I'm grateful I got to read it.

Thank you to Netgalley for a copy in exchange for an honest review. My opinions are my own.

*Spoilers alert* When I requested this audiobook as an ARC, I did not expect that half of it would be your typical YA and the other half involves a love triangle. There is no indication in the blurb apart from hinting that the couple would encounter many obstacles in their path to true love. Thing is, I really am too old for YA and love triangles are really not my thing. The first half was excruciatingly drawn out and the second half devoted too much time on this secondary romance that I really did not need. Remember Jace? The love of your love whom you met again after painful years of estrangement in a dream reunion only to give him nary a thought for the next six years.

This audio ran for 13+ hours but could easily be edited down to 8-9 hours. Great narration.

Thanks to Net Galley.

My reading of The Space Between e-book was accompanied by the audiobook. That's what I call a win-win situation. I enjoyed the experience of having a dual sensory experience, allowing me to immerse myself in the story in a whole new way.

My thoughts:
Sarah Ready has done it again with a captivating tale that brings the reader into an entirely different world. Coming-of-age characters come alive as they navigate trauma, love, loss, mistakes and living in the moment. Experiencing the complexity of the characters was refreshing. By navigating between the various themes of the story, they ultimately found strength and voice through adversity. Sarah Ready's mastery of her craft shines through this unique plot, making it a truly unforgettable experience and an absolute must-read and listen to. James Fouhey and Rachel F. Hirsh narration in the audiobook is artfully crafted to make it an engaging, captivating, and enthralling experience. This will stay with you long after the last page is read or the last word is heard.

Thank you NetGalley and W. W. Crown for allowing me to experience this heartwarming novel. I highly recommend this book/audiobook to everyone who enjoys a compelling story and unique narration.

What a fantastic story about what happens when two people met and grow together and apart and all the space in between. Told from the 2 main characters pov it follows tgeir stiry from meeting growing apart and meeting ahain and everything inbetween.
Both narrators capture the heart of both characters and bring the story so true alive. They made me laugh smile and cry. Feel anger and made me wish things were different. I loved every second the only bit that could jave been better is we learnt more about the female character's life in the space where they werent yogether than we did the male and thats it. A solid 5 star

The Space Between is one of the most beautiful books I’ve ever read. This is a book that had me so immersed in the characters and their love story, I never wanted to put it down. It will be on my mind and in my heart for a long time!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️♾️
🌶️

Andi and Jace have known since the moment they met that they were meant to be together, even though they were only seventeen at the time.

Coming from different worlds, this is nearly impossible. Andrea (Andi) is from a wealthy family, where she feels like a pawn in their games - and never love. Jace’s life is completely opposite, filled with love of family and friends, but without money.

Jace is the first person to see Andi for who she is, and love her for it. Andi is the one to help pull Jace’s music out of him, something that was lost when his parents died.

We see their lives, their love, and love lost and found over several time periods. This was such an emotional journey for me. It ripped my heart out several times, and thankfully eventually put it back together. My heart is heavy, but full.

I tandem read this - ebook and audiobook - and both were wonderful! The narrators (James Fouhey & Rachel F. Hirsch) did a phenomenal job at capturing the depth and emotions of this love story.

What you’ll find in The Space Between:
⭐️ Different Worlds
⭐️ Soulmates
⭐️ First love
⭐️ Musician
⭐️ Song lyrics
⭐️ Rich girl/poor boy
⭐️ Found family
⭐️ Emotional read
⭐️ Multiple timelines
⭐️ Dual POV/first person

I really wanted to love this book based on the premise and high reviews, but it’s just too YA for me and the author’s obvious lack of firsthand experience about living in NYC is very distracting and keeps taking me out of the story.

This is a very big personal pet peeve of mine, but writers who only have vague knowledge of life in New York based on what they see on TV and research on Google should not set their books here. Native New Yorkers do not spend their days bouncing around from one tourist attraction to the next. Even if someone who only experienced extreme privilege or extreme poverty wanted to see how the other half lives, there are so many cool, local places to hang out in the city, they would absolutely NOT be at the M&M’s store in Times Square or any of the other places Andi and Jace go. The author also does not seem to realize that there are five separate boroughs and they are not minutes apart from each other. She has the characters flitting back and forth in varying combination from the Bronx to downtown Manhattan, to Central Park, and then to Brooklyn in a single afternoon like they are one neighborhood away. It would take an hour on the train each way to get from some of these places to the next. There are dozens of other small details that are just completely wrong, and when so much of the story is built around daily life in NYC, it should feel authentic. Absolutely nothing about this book is right.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an advanced copy of The Space Between. Unfortunately, this book was not for me.

This was a heartbreaking story about Andy (Andrea) and Jace. They came from completely different upbringings/neighborhoods and met by chance at Central Park.
We get alternating POVs and I enjoyed both voices on the audio book. Both narrators did an excellent job with conveying all the emotions that the characters in the story were going through. And there were a lot of emotions! This book broke my heart at least twice and I loved every minute of it. Absolutely recommend for anyone that enjoys an emotional ride with characters you care about from the beginning.

I cannot put into words how much this book means to me. (proceeds to attempt anyway) Sarah Ready is one of THE best authors out there and deserves the whole damn world.

The scenes are still so vivid in my mind I can still hear and see everything. Sarah put a great deal of thought into each character in the story which is evident even ten percent in. Nope not a single character taken for granted, amazing back stories and all put together.

Jace and Andrea are supposed to be the main characters, but the way I see it, Andrea holds most of the spotlight throughout. The story is divided into three parts- Jace and Andrea in young love, their seperation, and finally their reunion.

The most significant trope in the story which was used brilliantly was the love triangle. I really can't reveal much but it's just so unique and beautiful it transports you into its own world and moves you to tears.

These narrators are just so precious. James Fouhey and Rachel Hirsch were just brilliant voicing Jace and Andy respectively alongwith the side cast.

I can only request you to read this book, and trust me, it will the best thing to happen to your day. So much live to you Sarah, you deserve every beautiful thing in the universe.

OHH my heart! This author has quickly become one of my faves! This is the 3rd book I've read of hers and it gets better and better! Get your tissues ready for this one. The author will rip your heart out and when she finds a few pieces not broken she'll break those too AND she won't stop! BUT she will put all the pieces of your heart back together by the end for a beautiful HEA. This book is a testimony to how we never truly know how any one scenario in our lives will work out. This book is amazing! All the stars!

Wow, just wow. This book is everything and then some. This book perfectly protrude that true love always prevails. This book is written in three parts, one where they are 17, one where it's 5 years later, and then the last is 8 years after that.

In the first part you read about a boy (Jace) who is starting from nothing, playing his music where anyone will listen. He then gets tracked down by a group of guys that he goes to school with and they attempt to beat him up until someone (Andi) comes out of nowhere and stops them. They spend all night talking about who they are and what matters most to each other. You read about how Jace's parents showed him what true love looks like, how to fully love someone, and how to chase after your dreams. All within part one you get to see their friendship grow as well as their love for each other. You also get to see Jace's brothers fight their own demons while building their music careers. Then the worst happens, and you are left balling you eyes out for Jace and Andi.

Part two is all about Andi starting over and trying to figure out how to love again, not just herself but others as well. You see her start off as this cold and bitter woman, then by the end of this part she is this warm and forgiving person who teachers her daughter how to truly live. I will admit this part got me tearing up a few times with the multiple deaths. They way it was written and the events leading up to them had my own heart breaking.

Part three you read about Andi and Jace seeing each other again. They both realize that they never have nor will they stop loving each other. One thing I loved in this part was the way Claudia was with Jace and vice versa. They finally get their HEA.. Part three did a wonderful job of showing true love has no limits.
-----------
This book had my heart swooning, it makes the hopeless romantics wanting more. I ate this book up, from all of the love that was in the book, but also the heart break. It was hard reading about Andi growing up in a loveless home, not to mention the time reading about what Reid's father did to him. You really do see that money doesn't buy love and happiness. This book was very well written. It did start off slow at the beginning, but it was needed so we got to see how all of the characters developed in the years to come. This is probably one of the first time I'll say there is nothing id change in the book.

Check trigger warnings prior to reading as this book mentions drug overdose, parental abuse, cancer, death/accidental death, and mental heath issue.

Thank you NetGalley and W.W Crown/Independent Book Publishers Association for the ARC, this is my honest thoughts of the book.

I've read several books by this author and this one is my favorite so far. I enjoyed watching Andi and Jace grow together and apart, and as individuals as the years went by. I wasn't prepared for the range of emotions reading this brought me. It's a beautiful story of love, betrayal, forgiveness and hope. It may be one of my favorite books this year.

This was a love story about Jace and Andy. They met at Central Park through fate or accident at the age of 17. Their love was immediate and deep. However, young love doesn’t always work out the way you planned.

Initially, I found this “first true love” plot to be out of my interest zone. YA is not my thing. However, as the characters aged into their 20’s, it became a little more relatable. I grew to love Andrea’s character. She faced difficult decisions yet always kept her integrity.

My star rating is based more on the second half of this book. It became increasingly emotional towards the end. Definitely recommend to other readers who are looking for a heartfelt coming of age romance.

Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced audiobook in exchange for an honest review. The audio narrators were good fits for the characters with a range of voices that brought me into the story.

This is my fourth Sarah Ready book I have read and unlike the previous three ones, this book did take me a while to get into. It was only when I reached part 2 of the book that I began liking the story more and also felt the pace picking up. I received both an e-ARC and ALC but mostly listened to the audiobook. So far, all the narrators chosen to narrate Sarah Ready books have not disappointed and this book is no exception.

If you’re not adept at reading through tears, you'll need to hone that skill before diving into this one. Imagine the ruinous heartbreak of a Nicholas Sparks novel but with a happily ever after. There's no question that this story is deeply emotional and profoundly beautiful, and I wish it were possible to read it for the first time all over again.

“You’ve had my always since the day we met.”

Andrea Leighton-Hughes and Jace Morgan are opposites in every way. She comes from affluence and excess, and he shares a bedroom with his two brothers in a Brooklyn walk-up. She attends galas and charity functions, and he busks for spare change in Central Park with his guitar and his musical brothers. But when they meet none of that matters. They see their future in each other's eyes despite their class and upbringing differences. They're absolutely perfect together, until fate deals them a rending blow.

AndI comes to realize that there are many kinds of love, including a bittersweet love that lasts for a short season but is held close in the heart and cherished for a lifetime. Jace learns that family may be messy and imperfect, and not always make the best choices, but blood and bonds run deep and always have your back.

“If we don’t fall, if we aren’t human, then there’s no need for grace.”

I’ve read a few other romances recently where the two main characters spend a good deal of the story apart, but none come close to holding a candle to Jace and Andi's story. It's the perfect balance of unlimited possibilities, devastating heartbreak, and an always destiny. Ready takes no prisoners of the heart in the wreckage of Jace and Andi, but she gently mends us back together by allowing us time with the reunited couple as they settle in to their forever.

My words won’t begin to do this one justice. It's a story of sweet, innocent, young love, and then one of heartbreak and betrayal. It's learning to live without the other half of your soul, only to finally, at long last, find your way back to the one who holds your heart. It's understanding that those who have passed are never really gone, and that we are often right where we’re supposed to be without even realizing it.

“No matter how long the road to get here, no matter the twists and turns, I’m yours.”

Ready has outdone herself, and 99.9% of contemporary romance, and I would give this story a million stars, if possible. It's on my list of top five reads of all time, and I’ll return to it again, knowing new insights and sagacity await me. If you read only one book this year, make it this one. These characters will live in your soul long after the last page, and your heart will never be the same.

This book wrecked me!!! My new favorite from Sarah Ready, she broke my heart and then put it back together in this heartbreakingly beautiful story about first love, second chances and finding your way back when life throws you the worst curveballs.

Parts of this story had me gasping for breath while others had my heart melting. I can't recommend it enough and really enjoyed it on audio too. Aspiring rock star Jace and lonely heiress Andrea were from completely different worlds but their roller coaster love story will have you reaching for kleenex and wanting more!

Many thanks to NetGalley and the author for an early digital and audio copy in exchange for my honest review!
