Harriet Muncaster studied illustration at Norwich University College of the Arts before going on to get an MA in children’s book illustration at the Cambridge School of Art. In creating the art for her first book for children, she was thrilled to have found a good outlet for her lifelong fascination with miniatures. She lives in Hertfordshire, England.
There’s a new girl at Isadora’s school buts she’s not nice to her or anyone else. It’s pink rabbits teddy bear picnic party and everyone is invited, but building up the courage to invite mean girl Ava is hard for Isadora to do, until she learns the truth about Ava.
I honestly felt so bad for Ava the whole time, you could tell she felt out of place in this new scary school, she was being mean as a coping mechanism and it was so sad seeing her put up the walls instead of trying to be nice. I was glad that Isadora wasn’t mean to her, though not inviting her right away wasn’t the best option, she still tried to figure it out and felt bad for having not done it.
I really enjoyed the little picnic party that she through for pink rabbit and how cute that everyone else’s toys got brought to life too, just so adorable. I really loved seeing the illustrations of the party scenes, it was so beautiful. Another good book in the Isadora world.
My daughter & I bought the Isadora Moon books to read together over the summer. She is eight and has recently started enjoying reading independently so I suspect this may be one of the last series I’ll get to read aloud with her before she flies off into books on her own. The books are gentle, funny & full of kindness. The stories are told simply enough for younger readers but they also weave in thoughtful little life lessons without ever feeling preachy. Whether it’s making a new friend, coping with nerves before a test, or learning to be yourself, there are plenty of moments that lead to conversations. Each book works perfectly well as a standalone story which is ideal if children pick them up in a random order. Because we’ve been reading the whole series back to back we did notice that the introductions become a little repetitive. Every book reminds readers that Isadora is half fairy, half vampire, that her dad is a vampire who only eats red food, and so on. It makes perfect sense for new readers, but when you’re reading them consecutively it can feel a little repetitive. That is only a very small criticism, though. We’ve had such a lovely time sharing these books together laughing along with Isadora’s adventures & enjoying the warmth & kindness that runs through every story. They’ll always remind me of a very special summer spent reading with my daughter.
When Ava, a new girl joins Isadora’s class, Isadora tried to be friends with her but Ava didn’t seem to like her or her friends.
Isadora is having a party for her special toy Pink Rabbit inviting the whole class but when she tries to give Ava an invitation, Ava snubs Isadora, and upsets Isadora as Ava doesn’t believe Isadora’s wings are real.
Eventually Isadora and her dad meet up, with Ava and her parents. But will Ava and Isadora become friends?
This is the perfect little girls read for those who love reading about fairies and nice vampires !
When Isadora Moon meets a girl who just moved into town, they don’t get on very well. The girl seems quite mean. Will Isadora and the new girl finally get along, or will they stay rivals forever?
This book is quite similar to the other ones in the series, but it’s totally different too! It has themes of friendship, bravery and trouble.
A delightful read that follows Isadora as she facing the difficulty of a new girl at school who doesn't seem all that nice. But of course all is not what it seems as after some typical schoolgirl shenanigans the truth comes out. My niece loves this series and I think I would've when I was her age.
