Dragon shifter Andy spends his time in his Santa Fe home with his brothers, surfing the dark web for information about dragons and digitizing dragon histories. He's not used to trouble of any kind, so when a stranger shows up who seems to be watching him, he's more than a little freaked out.
Dustin is used to doing recon on all sorts of creatures, especially dragons like him, in his quest to keep dragons safe. He and his twin brother both work for a mysterious billionaire who funds dragon conservation. So he thinks nothing of it when he's sent to check out a dragon enclave in the high desert of New Mexico. Until he meets Andy, that is. Then he knows he's found his mate.
As Dustin and Andy struggle to find their own space yet give Andy's brothers and moms respect, danger threatens to tear them apart. Can they keep their growing family safe, and find a way to be something new while honoring both of their traditions?
Minerva Howe is the kinky alter ego of author Julia Talbot. Julia lives in the great Southwest, where there is hot and cold running rodeo, cowboys, and everything from meat and potatoes to the best Tex-Mex. A full time author, Julia has been published by Samhain as well as other publishing houses. She believes that everyone deserves a happy ending, so she writes about love without limits, where boys love boys, girls love girls, and boys and girls get together to get wild, especially when her crazy paranormal characters are involved.
This book feels like a first step in concluding the dragon veil universe. On one hand, the book was the same great quality I've come to expect from Minerva. On the other, it will feel very bittersweet to see the series end. I've been loving it so far. It is truly a great series, and so far no book has felt like a dud.
I just adore dragon stories and few write them as well as Minerva Howe. I am quite invested in the Dragon Veil universe. We have a new family of dragons in Sante Fe hunkering down and expanding their found family now. Andy and his brothers collect dragon lore and it leads Dustin right to them, afraid they might be hunters. But no…just more dragons who are not as aware of the bad stuff in the world as Dustin and his brother are. I really do enjoy all of these guys and now we have more brothers who need to find their mates. Sweet and spicy hot all at the same time!
3.5 stars Andy is the middle brother, he feels overshadowed by both of his brothers, as if he is unremarkable - this is only his thinking as nobody has ever said or done anything to make him feel this way. The three young dragon brothers have led a very sheltered life, practically hidden away with their mothers. Andy is actually very smart, especially with computers, when needed he is brave, and to Dustin, he is everything. Dustin is an older dragon, he and his brother work for a mysterious benefactor who, at one point, saved them - details are not given as to what happened - he is really good at tracking, and once he realizes Andy is his mate, he has his work cut out for him, proving just how much he values and adores Andy, and joining his family. Dustin and Andy start out slowly as Andy's brothers are extra cautious and have a tendency to interrupt them when they try to spend time together, but when they do, their chemistry leads to some steamy times, a deeper connection builds, and love soon follows. I loved the family dynamic with Andy's family and how they opened their home and hearts to Dustin and to others that I won't mention so I don't spoil the story. This is book one in this series, and this first couple have their HEA, but there is a deeper, underlying storyline that will continue into the next books which I believe will feature a new couple but still involve this whole family. There are some dangerous situations that happen in this book, and an event that they know is coming, but they don't know exactly what it is. This is an intriguing situation, so this and the wonderful characters will have me eager for the next book.
However, this book needs quite a bit of polishing. I read an ARC and found there were a couple inconsistencies as well as typos and such that will hopefully be fixed for the final copy. There were two things I found really frustrating - at times you couldn't determine who was speaking and to whom , and the constant food talk was frustrating, it didn't add to the story, it just ended up dragging it out. This is my honest opinion.
*4.5* Minerva Howe has again brought a dragon series that gives readers that wonderful sense of family, belonging and love with a small dose of drama that keeps people on their toes and looking to what's coming further along in the series. Here, we meet Andy, middle dragon brother just outside of Santa Fe, and Dustin, hunter of anyone who may be out to harm dragons. It's not an accident that they meet but it is under a mistaken assumption that Andy and his brothers might be dragon hunters when actually, all they want to do is learn and protect dragon lore and history. It takes very little time to realise that they mean something to each other and it's fun to read them try and be together, building a relationship, whilst surrounded by two brothers and two mums. They have great chemistry and burn up when together. One thing I love about mated relationships is that they just know within a short space of time, regardless of how oblivious, and it makes for a lot of sweet reading. As do the secondary characters. Jules and Puck, Andy's brothers, are complete opposites in temperament - grumpy/sunshine - and bring a lot to the story, so much support and love, along with the mums, for their family. Austin, Dustin's twin brother, brings that protective element, being another alpha and one who has worked to save other shifters from bad situations. A bit of a dramatic turn brings several new characters into the fold that adds a found family element which I love and can't wait until we get to meet Dustin and Austin's boss, I think that's going to bring some entertainment. It's also great to cross over to Devon from the Dragon Hoard series, I hope there's more crossovers through the series with the feelings that several of the dragons are getting. A great new dragon shifter series that brings readers a new dragon family, mates, mpreg, shifters, vampires and goblins. I'm interested to see how this series moved forward. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
I am always excited to start a new series from Minerva but I will admit that I’m a little sad with this one as it seems like this might be the last one in this world (or at least in this timeline). Things are definitely heating up plot wise for the big magic something - on the one hand I’m nervous because I really don’t want these guys (any of the characters we’ve met along the way) to have to face off against anything scary or to be taken away from their homes and the lives they love. Then I remember that Minerva’s books are usually pretty fluffy and make the characters’ lives better not worse. Still, I’m a little anxious and I understand why so many dragons are getting anxious too. Something big is coming and I feel like this series is going to be the one to reveal it. I love Andy and Dustin’s families. Andy’s is kind of crazy in that lovely way close families can be. Puck and Jules are hilarious and I am very excited to see what’s coming relationship wise for them (I feel a bit mean because I think Puck is going to have a nervous break down). Dustin’s is small but sweet. I know Gavin isn’t technically related to Austin and Dustin but it feels like he’s kind of like that uncle who will always help you out but is also kind of mysterious and may or may not have been a spy (or at least gives that vibe). Anyway, we get the sweet romance between Dustin and Andy (and some interesting familial reactions to Dustin and Austin lol) as well as some big foreshadowing of something big coming. I can’t wait to see who is next (I have my suspicions) but I also really hope we do get to come back to this world. It was great having little cameos from much loved dragons from previous series and I really enjoy the world that’s been created, so it would be amazing to get to come back in future series!
Andy and his family are dragon shifters who live quietly in New Mexico. Andy's moms have raised Jules Andy and Puck to blend into the human world but have kept them sheltered from most of the dangers. Andy's mother is worried that something big and magical is going to happen. Since Andy is the tech guru, he is tasked to track down any old books about dragons and legends. He participates and wins auctions for the books and scans the book electronically. What Andy doesn't realize is that he has come to the attention of a secretive organization. When Andy goes to pick his newest book auction win, he and his brother see a big stranger taking pictures of every person exiting and entering. Andy and Puck go to a diner to think about what to do. As they are leaving, they run into the stranger again. Puck feels nervous but Andy is attracted.
Dustin works for a secretive boss who uses him to do research and surveilance. They have noticed someone near Santa Fe seems to be very interested in dragons. They are afraid that this is evidence of a hunter group looking for dragon victims. When Dustin goes to investigate, he doesn't find dragon hunters but he does find a dragon family. Even more surprisingly, one of them is his mate. Now Dustin has to convince them that he is no danger to the family and fully bond with his mate.
I really enjoyed this story and enjoyed connections to some earlier series by the same author.
Loving the Dragon Veil Universe and this new series! I was so excited to see that the next book in this world was coming out and the Santa Fe dragons were so much fun to read.
Andy Cuelebre, his two brothers and their moms have been living near Santa Fe, staying relatively isolated but collecting information on the dragon world to help digitize it. Andy’s sweet, sheltered and humble, especially when it comes to his technology skills but he also feels like he has to stay close to his family and help keep the peace. Dustin Ladon is an older dragon who has been working to keep dragon-kind protected along with his twin brother, traveling all over the world to keep them safe. Dustin knows what he wants as soon as he happens upon Andy and his brothers - Andy. He’s a protector and a provider but is also incredibly loving under his tough exterior.
These two had a connection right off the bat and had to figure out how to form their mating bond while keeping Andy’s family happy. They were fun to read and had a really cute connection. Really looking forward to Austin, Puck and Jules' stories and I loved how this clan got connected with the Dragon Hoard crew!
A new dragon family comes through The Mist. Dustin and Andy were so cute skirting around each other. Though Dustin was the alpha to Andy's omega he just didn't come off as really knowledgeable in the ways of discovering his intended mate. As for Andy he was clueless though his Mom and Mama recognized the signs. I like this family and really enjoyed the shared lives of the moms and the brothers Jules the oldest and Puck the youngest. A new aspect of this theme was the fact of there being twin dragons, Dustin and Austin. One fun element to this story was lots of food. One has to envy the vast consumption these dragons could down. Austin had his heroic battle when he and Atlas were imprisoned by the vampires. But throw in vampires, goblins, demons, wolves, and dragon hunters and the reader finds promise in future stories. Also, there are great secondary characters present including Dustin's boss Gavin Castellan, the almighty and all-knowing dragon, Atlas the bear, his mate Ursula, their cub Esther, the ever-present familiars. All these characters rolled into one large but happy family. This review is written voluntarily.
4 stars A great start with a hit of danger for Andy family when a stranger shows up in there town. A new Dragon Prophesy series for the author, who is becoming an auto click for dragon stories for me.
Andy was wanting an ancient book for dragons lore but he’d was out bided at every turn by someone. Researching for himself and his family into a huge event thats about to happen of their world. Dustin was investigating dragons beings being hunted, as he accepted a new job for his boss. I loved the telepathic thoughts for Andy’s brothers as they noticed possible dangers from hunters. It soon turns into something different with Dustin meeting them all. Andy is the middle of his 3 brothers each with their special talents. A good story for Andy and Dustin finding each other. Hot scenes are included with them knotting in mateship. I felt a lot of domestic stuff took away from the story as Dustin said in a holding pattern. Dustin’s twin brother arrives into the story when danger in near. This was a story with mpreg, parts of the storyline continue into the next book with a new romance.
This heartwarming Mpreg dragon shifter romance has quite a humorous undertone, and I found it a pleasurable read. (It is the first book in the “Dragon Prophecy” series but can easily be read as a standalone) There is good world building with some very intriguing descriptive scenes, and there are several characters (from previous books published by this author) appearing in this book. The characters (an omega male dragon shifter, Andy Cuelebre) & (an alpha male dragon shifter, Dustin Ladon) are quite well-developed individuals & interesting with their individual needs & goals in life. The secondary characters offer good support throughout the storyline. There is: various kinds of shifters, a caring family, Andy’s siblings (Jules & Puck), Dustin’s boss (Gavin Castellan), a set of twins (Dustin & Austin), mates, humor, adventure, drama, intrigue, some suspense, mild twists, enemies, protectiveness, vulnerability, steamy scenes, contentment, love, happiness & a delightfully sweet, happy conclusion.
Dragon shifter Andy spends his days surfing the dark web looking for information about dragons. It is this surfing that calls attention to him and Dustin is sent to investigate. He and his twin work for a man who wants dragons protected. Unfortunately, Andy gets spooked when he realizes a stranger is watching him and runs. Dustin is very good at tracking him and soon finds he wants more. Andy is his mate. But danger is threatening them while they struggle to find their own space but still respect Andy’s moms and brothers. They have a lot to do to make sure they and their whole family remain safe.
Mist Dragon was a bit different in some ways. Andy and his brothers were very sheltered and protected. They had never left their compound except to shop locally. Dustin knew Andy was his mate and wanted to spend some alone time with him. This gave Andy so many new experiences. He really touches your heart as does Dustin and the rest of this growing family. This promises to be another excellent series by Minerva Howe.
It was so exciting to get introduced to yet more dragons by Minerva Howe. These folks are fascinating in the way they have built their lives and in their family relationships. This series opener promises to continue along that vein. We meet the three brothers, Andy, Puck, and Jules. They are funny together but somewhat sheltered. Then Andy goes to check something out and finds more than he was expecting. He meets his mate, Dustin. Dustin is older and somewhat jaded. Makes him good for Andy and Andy good for him. They balance one another so well. It is so cool how the dragons are always seeking information about their history and the prophecy. They have survived but are not fully aware of how or why and always on a quest to fill in the blanks. But at the center of all these stories, which touches my heart is how much family and connection are centered not just in the main couple but in those connected to them. I can't wait to keep reading this series. I received an ARC from GRR and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I love a well written shifter romance, and this author does it nicely. This is my first book by the author and it will not be my last. Not only does she create an absolutely endearing slew of dragon shifters, she sets up a brilliant backstory that will run through the series (I hope). Andy was an absolute joy to read. He and his brothers are so blissfully naïve it was adorable. His encounter with the older, more jaded Dustin lead to some absolutely brilliant scenes that made me laugh, sigh and sometimes groan. The story pulled me in and I found myself finishing this book rather quickly. Bottom line - I need more dragons! I cannot wait to see when Puck or Jules find their matches. And while I wait, I will definitely look at her back catalogue.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
First book in the series and so far it's really good. I love how the author writes about dragons and their clutches. So much love...family love and togetherness. I love how Dustin described the trio of young dragons when he first encountered them...all I could say was awwwwwwwwww...so adorable and cute...LOL...In this book, Andy and Dustin are fated and how they got together and acknowledge their bond was sweet and special...even though Andy was a little sheltered, he was able to come out of his shyness and innocence and be real sensual and strong for his alpha Dustin. Dustin took to caring and supporting so well I can't wait to see how his twin Austin does with his fated who I believe is the younger dragon Puck. Loved the ending and I'll be waiting patiently for the next book in the series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Andy and his brothers love to surf the dark web, finding information on dragons and dragon histories. While in town, Andy notices a stranger following him, which freaks him out. Dustin is doing recon to find more information about the dragon enclave his boss sent him to. Dustin and Andy don't expect each other, and they struggle to find their footing in their relationship while also allowing Andy's brothers into their lives.
Andy was such a sheltered guy; his moms haven't shared much information with Andy and his brothers, so while they find dragon histories, they still seem to lack information on specific topics. Dustin was fun to read; he was trying to protect dragons and his elusive boss. Andy and Dustin have a sizzling relationship with some rocky spots with trying to balance their relationship with Andy's family.
This was a sweet fun read. There is a sort of plot and maybe it will really get going once all the brothers find their mates. I think it is obvious who Puck's mate is & I have a wild guess on who Jules' is. What I didn't care for is how naïve/immature the brothers come off as. For three guys who are extremely intelligent, they act like a bunch of teenagers. I also didn't like the fact that they don't fly. For being grownups, Andy's first flight is with his mate. I understand the protectiveness of their moms, but they should have been making sure they had a way to escape if danger gave them no real choice. Anyway, I can't wait for the next book.
I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest opinion.
This book rocks! The story of Dustin and Andy is filled with family, love, a bit of danger and is a whole lot of fun to read! The two meet when Dustin tracks down Andy and his two brothers, Jules and Puck, thinking they are dragon hunters. He’s surprised to find that not only are they not hunters but that Andy is his mate. I love the way their relationship evolves as the story unfolds. There will be a bit of danger but they will pass through it quickly. Add in some very protective mamas, some goofy sibling behavior and some new friends that become found family and you get a story that is a definite must read!
I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.
Dragons, more dragons, all trying to discover what big thing is coming.
This is a fantastic start to a new series! I love that dragons from previous books make an appearance. This book stresses the bonds between family. Three brothers, a set of twins, all with unique and vibrant personalities. Dragons all. Who could ask for more? Well, how about fated mates, a dual rescue, of bears no less, and babies. Ooh, and can't forget protective momma dragons! Ugh, and vampires and goblins, oh my. There is HEA for one set of mates. But the story continues in the next book as another of the brothers find their mate. I can't wait! You have got to get this book. You will love it!
Its feels like the dragonverse is coming to a close. I lived seeing return characters Ie Devon... but felt like this book ended a bit abruptly... I know theres more to come.
Andy is adorable, but I dont get his lack of self confidence. His brothers never seem to critise him, just support him throughout. Yet hes always putting himself down in their favor. Dustin apparently is a great tracker, but never once looked to see who was employing him and his twin despite putting them in dangerous situations. I loved how he just spied Andy and bam... while not insta love, he waa definately attracted and he stayed his course.
Obvs Puck and Austin are next.... but I think Jules and Gavin will be soon after!?
This is the first book in the Dragon Prophecy series, and be prepared for a very long book with lots of great details and an amazing start to a fantastic series. The three twinkish omega dragons were so cute and adorkable. I loved how Dustin refers to them as pocket dragons. I loved the fiercely protective momma dragons and their home inside the mountains sounds so intriguing. Andy was an amazing dragon: smart, brave, resourceful, independent. When Andy and Dustin became mates, I just loved Andy’s wide-eyed innocence that he continued to exhibit even after losing his V card. There is just so much to love about this book. I am so looking forward to Puck and Austin’s story.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Mist Dragon by author Minerva Howe is the first book in the Dragon Prophecy series. I loved this story. The connection between Andy and Dustin is just perfect. I want more from the series, and I just love this world they are in I wanna know more.
Andy has always thought of himself as ordinary. He is an Omega dragon shifter. Lives with his makeshift family is a very nice guy. He does need someone to believe in him so he can flourish.
Dustin: works for a mysterious man who protects dragons. Alpha dragon shifter. He protects dragons from hunters. He is strong, smart, and perfect for the shier Andy.
Really great story and I cannot wait for more from this series in the future.
I enjoy dragon stories and Minerva Howe does them well. I am thrilled that she has stories from another group of brothers to share. Andy and his brothers are delightful, as are Dustin and his twin.
The secondary characters really enhanced Andy and Dustin’s story. I enjoyed them and am looking forward to seeing more of them as the series continues. Puck is so adorable, and I can’t wait to read his story.
I like that different types of shifters are represented in this series. I also like the way this author creates a central storyline that evolves throughout the series while delivering on complete individual stories that each results in a HEA.
Years ago, a series about dragon shifters, fated mates and dangers that threatened them was my introduction to the world of dragon shifters and I've been a fan ever since. This series more than any in a long time, took me back to the excitement of that first series. We have a great set of characters in Andy and his brothers living in a setting I adore, Santa Fe. Into their lives come Dustin and his brother sent to protect them and boy do they need protection. I can't wait for all these characters to find their mates and get their stories and I want to know so much more about the mystery man funding things and who is really good and evil and pulling the strings.
Exactly what you come to expect from Minerva Howe. Likeable characters, great worldbuilding, and an inventive storyline with low angst.
Andy has a special bond with his two brothers, having been raised as though they were human by their mothers in Santa Fe.
Dustin and his twin brother Austin are operatives that hunt down dragon hunters and help save supernaturals in need.
Dustin is so very sweet to Andy, the middle brother who lacks in self confidence.
Their relationship is cute, and the side characters make you want to continue on with the story. Can’t wait to see what is in store for Austin, Puck and Jules
A very fluffy book where everything happens perfectly all the time even in situations that make absolutely no sense. For example... Andy is supposed to be really good at his job of protecting the family that he's been doing for years but for some reason Dustin always just figures everything out almost instantly without any difficulty at all. And the Dustin hunts him down to this hotel and Andy just lets him in ... A complete stranger he's been running from... He just lets in.... Cuz he has a headache.... Seriously?? I like fluff but make it remotely believable. Ridiculous.
I was so excited for this But unfortunately I wasn't a fan of this. I honestly think it was just the writing style? The premise was interesting and I liked the concept. But the way the book was written was very confusing. It was difficult to tell which character was talking, and who they were talking to. So that was very confusing and kept throwing me out of the story, there just seemed to be no flow to the story.
Even though I didn't love this book, you could! So, you should still read it!
*I received an early copy of this book and this is my honest review.*
Absolutely adorable family. I eagerly await the rest of the series. Dustin and Andy are sweet. I like how they are one way with their professional lives and able to show their vulnerabilities personally. I enjoyed the glimpses into what's going on in the dragons in the other stories. Fantastic beginning to a series. You can feel the tension building from all the stories like a slow moving story. I'm hooked! The Moms are fun, maybe a novella about how they met and started their family? Well done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Sooo...I oops and read this book not realizing it was a spin off of other books. It didn't really detract from my enjoyment. There were a few times i felt like i was missing something but not enough to make me stop reading and pick up the other books before continuing. I really enjoyed the story and Andy, his relationship with his moms and brothers, and his meeting and developing relationship with Devon. Now i'll have to go pick up the others in the universe so i can be up speed before the next one in this series comes out.
This was a great addition to Minerva Howe’s Dragon Veil Universe. It is the first of a trilogy featuring three brothers finding their mates. It was great to have a few cameos from previous characters in other series pop up without distracting from the current storyline. A few hints of what is to come in later books left me wanting more as well. All that being said, I did not find that to be too distracting from the romance between Andy and Dustin which was lovely. This was a a fun addition to the books I’ve already read in this universe and I look forward to more.
